Worthy could of easily chipped the rusher there

Simmons made the right decision to take Bonnito out of the play on this one, normally it would allow Mahomes to roll out left to buy time if needed when an edge defender goes on an inside move and fails to get home.
What was inexcusable on this play was Hunt’s lack of spacial awareness to pick up on the blitzing DB after one of the linebackers at the line dropped out into coverage.
When Mahomes calls protection scheme, isn’t it on Hunt to give the first read to the outside rusher? It’s pretty obvious pre-snap DEN bringing edge rush. Or maybe it’s on Worthy?
I can not for the life of me figure out why Kareem goes to the middle to protect on that play
