🚨JUST IN: Philadelphia Eagles Just Got Some Major Breaking News – Lane Johnson Injury News
[Music] Here we go. Welcome into the show. You’re watching Philadelphia Eagles now. Chase Senior here with you. And it’s a victory Monday here on the program. Birds pick up another huge win, taking down the Lions on Sunday Night Football by a final score of 16-9. This offense, yeah, they’ve scored 26 points in the last two games. But what if I told you coming out of the by-week, Philadelphia would take down Green Bay on the road and Detroit at home. Two very impressive wins. And you know it’s a tradition here on this show and you know the drill. It’s a victory Monday here on Eagles Now. So hit that thumbs up icon, like the video if you’re pumped up about another dub, and of course, go Birds. Now, we do begin with some breaking news on this Monday morning. Lane Johnson has a LizFrank injury in his left foot. He is expected to now miss the next four to six weeks. Ian Rapaort with the report moments ago. Lane Johnson, one of the games best, suffered that Liz Frank sprain on Sunday, according to him and Mike Gerafolo. He’s now out the next four to six weeks because of the foot injury, but will seek a second opinion and more tests. This likely lands him on injured reserve, but the belief is it is not season ending. For a big body foot injury, especially this injury being the Liz Frank and considering how valuable he is to this Eagles offense, this is a huge loss for the Eagles. They are so much better with Lane Johnson on the field compared to him not being on the field. And obviously this year he has dealt with so many different injuries. He got hurt against Kansas City, got hurt right after that, hurt against Green Bay when he hurt his left ankle. And then in this game against Detroit, he hurts his left foot. He’s been in and out of the lineup on and off the field all throughout this year. And at this point, especially this season, he’s kind of become like Jason Peter. Still an elite player, but is getting hurt and injured a lot and probably not quite the same guy who he once was in his prime. And look, Lane’s an older player. He’s in his mid30s. This is going to impact Philadelphia’s offense. There is no doubt about that. Throughout his career since he was drafted out of Oklahoma, when he plays, the Eagles are 110 57 and1. They have won nearly 66% of their games without Lane Johnson. This includes injuries and the peed suspension many years ago. The Eagles are 15 and 23. The winning percentage goes from just shy of 66% to just under 40% and they’ve won around 39% of their games without Lane Johnson in the lineup. Now, the PFF numbers have not been updated, but Lane did go out early against Detroit and so they’re not going to be that much different. He did struggle at times last night with Aiden Hutchinson, but held up well other times. Overall PFF grade this year of 77.6. six 17th out of 76 offensive tackles in the sport. Pass blocking grade really good 81.3 that’s eighth run blocking grade he has struggled this entire Eagles offensive line has struggled running the football and run blocking 69.5 that’s 29th the good with lane protecting the front side of Jaylen Herz no sacks given up first among offensive tackles zero hits surrendered first among offensive tackles seven pressures given up fourth entering Sunday Night Football and so moving forward Ward. This is what the Eagles offensive line is going to look like. Jordan Milada started the year strong. He’s tailed off a little bit. He has not played as well as he did last year when I thought that he was arguably the best left tackle in the game. So, he’s still going to anchor that left tackle spot. Landon Dickerson has been injured all year. Hasn’t been the quite quite the same guy. Cam Jurgens returned last night after missing two games and got hurt again. And so Brett Tal, who filled in nicely in those two games that Jurgens missed, ended up finishing that game last night. Jurgens hasn’t been the same guy all year coming off that back surgery. Tyler Steen has been good in pass protection, not as good as Mai Beckton as a Mer in the ground game. And now Fred Johnson will become the right tackle in replacing Lane Johnson. And this is why the Fred Johnson trade was so valuable. This is why Howy Roseman is so smart and the best general manager. Did the Eagles need to trade for a backup offensive tackle. They didn’t need to, but they did because Howie really values depth. And he always wants, especially along the offensive line, multiple bodies there because he understands it’s such an important position and positional group. And an injury, if you don’t have depth, can really make your season go sideways. The Eagles have utilized Fred Johnson in the jumbo package as that six offensive lineman with Lane Johnson getting hurt all season long. He stepped in and he’s played pretty nicely at that right tackle spot. He can also play left tackle. Last year he shut down Trey Hendrickson on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals. And so he is a very serviceable starting caliber plugandplay backup offensive tackle. Collectively, the Seagulls offensive line has not played well this year and they have been banged up and that’s led to Saquon Barkley not having as good of a season. It’s led to the pass game also struggling and I think that Jordan Myada made a really fair point with how much the Eagles ran it last year. his recovery, Miladas, this offseason took longer. And I think we’ve seen an Eagles offensive line that when you think about it and you hear the names, elite name value, and you think that they should be the best unit in the NFL. They’ve been far from that. They’ve been middle of the pack, average to bat all year long, and I think it’s because they’re feeling the wear and tear from last year. Without Lane Johnson, they’re going to have to step their games up and it’s going to impact this offense. Hopefully not too negatively. Hit that sub button and lock us in. As far as my Eagles Lions takeaways, takeaway number one, holy cow, this Philadelphia Eagles defense is special. And this is a Super Bowl caliber unit. The Eagles last night holding that high octane Lions offense to three of 13 on third down and 0 of5 on fourth down. That is a combined three for 18 on moneydowns for Detroit last night. The Eagles defense also had 10 passes defended in addition to seven quarterback hits and two sacks. How about the job of Jordan Davis and Jaylen Carter to bat passes down at the line of scrimmage and what the second and third level of the Eagles defense was able to do. And Amanra St. Brown who I had told you in the preview will be lined up against Quin Mitchell. He’ll be lined up against Cooper Deene. He got shut down. He had two catches on 12 targets. What we saw on Sunday Night Football, what the entire nation saw was a defensive masterclass from Vic Fangio’s team. And this defense is really trending in a great direction. I have been saying for years, please, please, please give me the California kid Jared Goff at the Lincoln January. Well, when the wind gusts were humming and the temperatures were in the mid30s and it felt a little bit colder, we had double glove gooff in November at the link and he really struggled. He completed 14 of 37 passes. That’s crazy. For 255 yards, a touchdown, and a pick. His quarterback rating 60.1. There will be so many lames who rip apart Jaylen Herz on social media calling him the worst quarterback in the NFL while also saying that Goff is a top 10 quarterback. Goff was not good last night and he was flustered by that Eagles pass rush and the defense as a whole. The Lions offense coming off a game in which they scored 40 plus against Washington and they had one of the best offensive performances this year of any team in the NFL had 317 yards of offense, 5.3 yards per play, 14 of 37 through the air, 21 carries for 74 yards on the ground. The Eagles holding Jir Gibbs and David Montgomery to 3.5 yards per carry. They got a turnover which was big. that led to three points and in a game that was low scoring points were crucial. Time of possession, Eagles won that. I also thought that Nick Serriani with the way that he managed the game thoroughly out coached Dan Campbell. And there will be a lot of people out there as well who say that Dan Campbell so much better than Nick Serriani. Nick Serriani managed the game and out coached Dan Campbell last night. And I want to bring up this point because I think it’s completely reasonable to say this. I think it’s fair to say that with the way that this Eagles defense is playing right now, they’re better than the 2024 defense, which last year was a top unit in football and won a Super Bowl. Why? They’re deeper and I think they’re more talented. Jaylen Phillips is playing out of his mind. What a move by Howie Roseman. He’s helped replace what Joshuet gave you and what you lost with him going to Arizona. Moro, as I said before, the year is playing better this season than Milton Williams did last year. Jordan Davis is in better shape. He’s taken his game to another level. Jaylen Carter continues to be one of the most disruptive players in football. Jaylen Phillips has opened up opportunities for everybody else and you feel their presence more. This Eagles linebacking core might be the best linebacking core in football with Nico Dean, Zack Bon, and Jiad Campbell. Quinan Mitchell and Cooper Deene are playing great. They’re more a season in year two. They’re both playing at an allp pro level. Props to Adori Jackson. He’s really improved over the last couple of weeks. Hasn’t given up more than 40 receiving yards in a game since week one. The safety play with Drew Makuba and Reed Blankenship is good. And so I think this Eagles defense is better than they were last year. What’s crazy too, this is one of the youngest and cheapest defenses in the NFL and this core has an opportunity to be together for a long while. Now, of course, it’s going to change from a financial standpoint. Ree Blankenship a free agent after the year. Nico Dean a free agent after the year. Jaylen Carter contract extension eligible. So, too is Jordan Davis. You probably want to keep Nolan Smith around. He’s extension eligible. We’ll see what happens with Quin Mitchell and Cooper Deene. And so, you’re not going to be able to pay all of them. Unfortunately, you’re going to have to draft and develop. But that’s the beauty of what the Eagles are doing right now. Fletcher Cox retires. You have Jordan Davis and Jaylen Carter waiting in the wings. Milton Williams gets a bag. You have Moro Jomo ready to step in. That’s just great roster construction by Howy and great player development by this coaching staff. Eagles Lions takeaway number two. It’s driving me crazy. It’s driving everybody crazy. I hang my head because it’s very frustrating. This Eagles offense stinks. It’s really hard to watch. And if the Eagles win a Super Bowl, it might be replicating what the Ravens did when Trent Dilford was their quarterback and they had that mean defense in the early 2000s and they stopped the New York Giants. This Eagles offense in back-to-back weeks coming out of the by-eek has been listless. They’ve scored 26 combined points the last two weeks. Now, they’ve played good defenses, but with all this talent, they need to play better. 272 yards of offense last night, 3.9 yards per play. Herz 14 to 28 through the air. They did run for 148 yards, but man, they were hard earned. Didn’t turn it over. That’s been a key all year. Time of possession. They did win that and they possessed the football a lot, so that was good. But they had so many drives with advantageous field position and they couldn’t take advantage only scoring 16 points. They were four of 15 on third down, 0 of one on fourth down. So, they were awful on the money downs. And what’s inexcusable to me about this Eagles offense, the drops, the penalties for an offense that returned 10 of 11 starters from a team that won the Super Bowl last year this deep in the year, 11 games in or 11 weeks in, 10 games in, we should be seeing all these self-inflicted wounds, all of these bad penalties, all of these breakdowns, all of these missed assignments, a lack of discipline. nine penalties for 78 yards. We’re dropping passes. We’re giving up on routes like AJ Brown. And what drives me nuts is the lack of play calling feel from Kevin Patulo. The lack of play calling sequencing from Kevin Patulo. Bad offensive line play with the unit that should be playing a lot better. And this equals offense right now does nothing well. Jaylen Herz said after the game, we really have to figure out who we are again. 10 games in, 11 weeks in, this Eagles offense has absolutely no identity. They can’t throw it at a high level. They can’t run it at a high level. They don’t do anything at a high level. And you’d think that this offensive line can carry them with all the high paid stars there. They’re not. Now, Lane Johnson’s hurt. And Jaylen Herz last night was not good. He missed multiple throws. I know the weather wasn’t ideal. I know that it was really windy and the weather wasn’t ideal against Green Bay, but in back-to-back games, he has played poor football. 14 to 28, 135 yards, no touchdowns, no picks, a quarterback rating of 63.8, and it was rough to watch. Did he get let down at times by drops? Yes. Did he get let down at times by play calling? No doubt about it. But it was a pretty gross performance from this Eagles offense and Jaylen Herz last night. I do think when we talk about Jaylen Herz’s struggles, I think context is always important and casuals will never mention this. Jaylen Herz haters and detractors will never mention this. But the fact that Jaylen Herz going back to his time at Alabama has not had any continuity, any semblance of it at offensive coordinator, it’s hurt him. And a lot of quarterbacks would sink, a lot of quarterbacks would struggle when this is the case. Jaylen Herd since Alabama. Look at the list of offensive coordinators who he’s had. It’s hard to play quarterback this way when you don’t have that consistent voice in your ear. Joe Montana had Bill Walsh almost his entire career with the 49ers. Tom Brady had Josh McDaniels and Charlie Weiss for a really long time. Patrick Mahomes has had Andy Reid his entire career. Jaylen Herz has not had the luxury of having a consistent play caller and offensive coordinator. And I think that’s why you see so many up and down performances from him where sometimes he plays great and sometimes he struggles and he’s such a hot and cold player, but there’s been no continuity at offensive coordinator for him. Lane Keifin was his OC in 2016, Brian Dable in 2017, Mike Lockxley in 2018, Lincoln Riley in 2019, Doug Peterson in 2020, Nick Serriani and Shane Stiken in 2021, Shane Stiken in 2022, Brian Johnson in 2023, Kell Moore in 2024, and Kevin Patulo in 2025. Herz entered the league in 2020. Look at all the play callers who he’s had. There’s been a different play caller every year. So, you want to talk about the sequels offense struggling and the quarterback struggling. I think that’s a big reason why. So much more to get to here coming up just around the corner. A lot of you who watch this show know me as a guy who loves talking Eagles football. That’s true. I’ve wanted to talk about this team and cover them since I was 5 years old. But outside of work, when I’m not in front of a camera on a microphone, I really love woodworking. I really like hard jobs. Growing up, my favorite job was working at Hershey’s Mill Golf Course cutting greens, fairways, approaches, and tea boxes. And when I was working at a golf course, I wish I had some Brunt work boots. Nico Dean, I love you. I appreciate you. What you’ve been able to do coming back so quickly from that patellar tendon injury really is incredible. And against the Detroit Lions, he dominated. Nico Dean has been playing like a heat-seeking missile as a blitzer against the run and in pass protection. He has helped take this defense to another level. He was activated against the Giants. Got more snaps against Minnesota. Got more snaps after the by-week against Green Bay before the by-week again against the Giants in this game against the Lions. And he’s just been a differencemaker. The return of Nico Dean this year and him being implemented into this defense has coincided with the defensive turnaround kind of like what we saw last year, right? Remember when Cooper Deene out of the bye-week started to start with this Eagles defense and from there on out the Eagles became the number one defense in the NFL. This year it’s been that Nico Dean type of implementation which has changed the course of this Eagles defense. Three tackles, one sack and a TFL against Detroit. He was matched up in coverage against Jir Gibbs and targeted three times. Guy gave up zero catches. We all saw how Gibbs moved last night. The dude is special special. Nico was running stride for stride with him. He was also matched up against Jameson Williams. We all saw JMO burn Adori Jackson to a crisp. Will Nico against Jameson Williams? Two targets, one catch for 27 yards. Let’s do a film study. What Nico Dean is doing right now is special. And for him to play like this and come back so soon and to be physically to this level coming off that patellar tennon injury which for a lot of players can be a career ender really is jaw-dropping and shocking. This is one of the splash plays that Nicobe Dean made last night where he’s lined up at that offball linebacker spot. Jir Gibbs lined up to the right of Jared Goff. Jergo’s gonna take the snap and Jir Gibbs is gonna run a wheel route here. First of all, Nico Dean, a high IQ, very cereable football player. He’s got an idea that Gibbs is going to go out for this route. So, we go to the next slide and Nico Dean right from the jump, right from the snap is matched up against Jamir Gibbs one-on-one. Now, he throttles down here because he’s not sure which direction Gibbs is going to go. Is he going to run an out route? Is he going to take it to the sideline? Is he going to cut it inside? And so the route recognition, the anticipation, and the overall athleticism to then stick with Gibbs, one of the fastest running backs in football. Look at this. I mean, this is tight coverage, contested coverage where he is right on his hip and Jared Goff doesn’t have a throwing window to throw to Jir Gibbs. I mean, that is incredible coverage downfield by Nakobe Dean. He’s a linebacker and he’s doing this against a running back. And when you have a player who can do this, who can stop the run, who can read and diagnose plays, who can be used as a heat-seeking missile, as a blitzer, last night had a sack of Goff the week prior had the strip sack of Jordan Love. It makes your defense better and he is an absolute gamecher. And then we round out with this. I know last night was a gross win. I know last night was very frustrating for all of us involved. 70,000 people who tuned in for the watch party saw me just beside myself watching this Eagles offense. But at the end of the day, the Eagles just win. Man, I want everybody to embrace this special era of Philadelphia Eagles football. The Eagles in their last 27 games are 24 and3. We might not ever see a run like this ever again. For people who grew up watching Eagles football in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, never would have thunk it that the Eagles could go on a run like this. Myself at 33 years old growing up with the Andy Reed, Donovan McNab era, we saw a lot of wins in the early 2000s. They are the one of the best organizations in the sport. We saw the Eagles go to four straight NFC Championship games and they choked time and time again. The end of the Andy Reid era, it was ugly. Chip Kelly era, pretty much ugly. The end of the Doug Peterson era wasn’t great. Doug Peterson won a Super Bowl with the Eagles in his second year. After that, they were pretty mediocre. I mean, what Nick Serriani, Howie Roseman, and Jeffrey Luri have built here and to the level that they’re winning at is incredible. I mean, it’s one of the best runs that we’ll ever see for this organization. One of the best winning runs in the history of the NFL, 24-3 in their last 27 games. I want everybody to realize how hard that is to do. And so, while this win was so frustrating and it kind of feels like they lost, the Eagles are 8-2. They are the number one seed in the NFC. According to the New York Times playoff model, they have a 52% chance to get home field advantage and a first round buy in the NFC playoff picture. And look at how they stack up against the other teams in the NFC, especially head-to-head with tiebreers, which could end up determining playoff seating. They have beat the Rams. They will play the Bears on Black Friday. They beat the Bucks. They beat the Packers. They have a better NFC record than the Seattle Seahawks who lost yesterday in a crazy game to the Rams. The Ner’s offensively, they might be able to give the Eagles some issues because Kyle Shanahan is brilliant, but I’ll take this Eagles defense against that Niners offense. And that Niners defense stinks. Detroit is also in the mix. The Eagles beat the Lions as well. So, they are sitting really pretty right now. And I thought Nick Serriani put it well after the game. He said, “I’d like to win every game by 30 points.” I don’t think that’s the reality of the NFL. It’s not, ladies and gentlemen, a majority of games are decided by one score or less. I think we take a lot of pride in just winning, period. That’s all this thing’s about, right? I’ve been on the other side where you lose and you’re sick about it. That doesn’t mean that you don’t go to work like a madman the next day and try to fix everything that made it not a big two-score win or three-sore win. I think the answer really is that we take pride in winning. I think our guys have this knack of knowing. As I watch football today, I feel like I saw a lot of teams waiting to lose. Our teams waiting to win because they know how to win. There’s something to be said for knowing how to win and knowing how to figure out ways to win. And that’s what the Eagles do. They figure out ways to win. And in big games, they win them. They suffocate teams throughout the course of a 60-minute ball game. And oftentimes it’s them making the clutch play and it’s forcing other teams into mistakes. And so you look at the Eagles remaining schedule, eight- Cowboys play tonight against the Las Vegas Raiders. I think the Cowboys are going to win that game going into Jerry World. I think it’s going to be a close game. You should be able to win it. But you’ve gone 2 and 0 against the Packers and the Lions coming out of the buy. So you have the Cowboys here. You have the Bears on Black Friday. That’s going to be a huge game for both teams in the NFC. You go on the road to play the Chargers and you play the Raiders. I think the Eagles are going to be favored in all of these games. And then you have the Commanders twice in three weeks. That’s not as hard as what we thought it was going to be going into the year. And you have the Bills in between that. But I’ll tell you this, this Bills defense, they’re not winning jack if their defense continues to play like that because that defense stinks. So, a lot of winnable games here for Philadelphia over the next eight to round out the regular season. Let’s do a Real One roll call. Yes it matters cause if our defense didnt ballsxout agianst the Lions we probly lose that game. To much talent on the offense to not score alot of points.
The penalties were killings them last night
So who is our tackles that back up Fred Johnson?
REAL ONE DUDE 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
Real one
REAL ONE
Losing Lane for the remainder of the regular season hurts, but not devastating as long as Fred stays healthy.
The offense’s inability to get in a rhythm and get anything going is a huge factor. It feels like any time a big play happens, it’s a 50/50 shot it’s coming back due to holding, false starts, etc. It just kills any momentum they manage to get.
Lane is always freaking hurt for 4 years now annoying asf
The ridiculous running our backs into the teeth of the opposing defense is ridiculous, your just giving the defense help ….use Sequon and Bigsby more on screens, be Creative, not Predictable ""
Lane will be just fine in about four weeks, foot should fine , and Lane will be ready for playoffs….
Lane johnson got injured the previous game, then came back the same game, is out for 4-6 weeks. Bro needs to just heal up for 6-8 weeks and be ready for playoff football. Im extremely exhausted of our offensive line players rushing to return, just to get injured in the following weeks. I am praying that our line players take the rest they really need. Jurgens went out last night with some sort of injury too, havent heard any word of that since.
Real One!
Where can I get a Eagles now cap?
Eagles Offense can;t be any worse without lane
Never would I have thought this!
Real One!
