Um, I think that uh I like what I saw from Carlo. I thought Eve I thought Carlo and Eve doing they they out there battling. I love what I saw from Mike Pee. I thought Mike Pee was awesome. Um, I think you know I thought Trey shot the ball well. He’s extremely efficient. Didn’t get enough looks. Eight shots. I thought it was nine. Was it nine? Maybe he got I only shot like I know he only shot like four times and I see a lot of the IQ issues with Derek Queen. Uh like the last couple of games they’ve been they’ve been pretty daunting, but it’s only been one practice. Know that one practice second half back toback against two very good teams. It’s going to take some time to deprogram these guys and instill some good habits. Same. Uh, Chaz. I I think um, you know, some of some of this is growing pains. You know, I think, you know, Queen similar similar to Fears, you know, they they’re just going to have nights where, you know, they they’re they’re playing matchups and people that are smarter than them. Um, and I mean, if you’re queen, I think Hardenstein’s a nightmare. having Chet Chad Hunger and weak side, it’s a nightmare because like you’re not going to um you’re not going to out skill those guys just yet. You’re not, you know, you’re not there. Um and he got caught trying to move a little bit too fast. Needs to slow down in some of these areas and he was loose with the basketball. Same with, you know, same with fears. You’re going to see those nights where he has six turnovers. I don’t think one was, you know, a few games ago. Um, Chaz, I think I think you’re right about what you said about about Peavey and Carlo. I think the thing the thing I did like in this game is that I watched the first half and I said Carlo was one of the more impressive players on the floor. He should play more to start the second half. Who’s starting? Carlo instead of Mi. Like as simple as that is like one plus one equaling two. Micah Peavey looks like he deserve like he needs to be on the floor for this team. Had a good game was out there tonight. So you know um I know right now man you know they’re they’re two and 12 and I don’t want to tell you how many games out of a you know of a playing seed and you can look around the landscape of the West but you got to put these blocks on top of each other because you have nowhere else to go right now. You can only look like they’re not they’re not making any drastic moves and you just got to hope for some reinforcements here soon and you know these next this next week or two slowly start to get a win and then a win after that hopefully and string together you know something but I I I think that there was some there was some good things you got you got to search but it it’s some small victories the um look I with with fears and queen like they’re going to struggle but this This is good. Early on their rookie career, you know, they’re getting valuable reps in which like they can now make adjustments and stuff like that. I wanted to ask y’all this. Have y’all been surprised through the first two games of Derek Queen’s involvement in the offense. I I you’re not. No, I think um I thought he’d get more like I just feel like he’s there’s going possessions where he’s just not getting the basketball. Honestly, I think Dairy Queen is a ways away physically. And what do you mean by that? I think when you look at some of his con like the players he’s uh compared to I’m not I’m not even going to acknowledge the Jokic comparison but let’s say Singon or even Sabonis they’re just physically stronger like they’re physically stronger and they’re a little more stout whereas Queen to me kind of has a little bit of trouble getting off the floor kind of has trouble holding his position. Um, the handle is cool, but like the spin move is nice. Handle is cool. I just don’t think Queen’s a wildly efficient player at this stage in his career. And I think he kind of like I don’t think he has a lot of ways to finish. Like so when he gets in trouble since he can’t like rise over people, he just goes ah and throws the ball and like and it’s like that [ __ ] don’t land a lot of times. To Chris’s point, you playing Hartinstein and Chad, it don’t get much more daunting than that. But I think in the last couple of games, it’s really solidified to me that Queen is a power forward in today’s NBA. It’s not a small ball five. It’s none of that [ __ ] He needs to be a power forward. And um I think that Queen needs to pass the ball a little bit more. There was one sequence he’s going downhill. He’s like they just like I’m throwing the alley right here and I’m like y’all that’s not in y’all repertoire. Don’t don’t throw no more alleys. He crashes into the guy throws the It’s like you didn’t have to do that. Like so it just gonna take some time. It just gonna take some time. Was that a careerhigh for Fierce tonight? 24. Go ahead, the spread to to to to answer the question. Uh Justin, it the Pelicans lose another pick. That’s why I ain’t saying that. the the FanDuel spread coming into the game I believe was either 17 and a half or was or it was 18 and 12 before the game it was like 18 and a half wasn’t it? Yeah. Yeah. But so to be fair he hit a layup at the end but to be fair they were playing they they were playing with a lot more energy for a 20point game. I mean, the starters stayed in a lot longer in a blowout than you than they traditionally would. And I mean, you got to assume that’s just because there’s no point in resting these guys right now. They’re they’re bottom in the [ __ ] Western Conference right now. And they have an interim head coach right now. You got to get as many reps, as many minutes, as much time in these in these in these these different wrinkles, these different these different flow, right? Burggo says he wants to play at faster pace. They got to get as much time together. Um Yeah. playing in this setup as they can. So, um, yeah, that’s a good point. You all right, Justin? Justin, why you why do you think Queen would be more involved? I thought he get more looks in the high post, but they haven’t had a lot of time to practice, right? So, like only one day, but I I just I felt like if you started him at the center position, you could kind of use him as we talk about as a hub. So, like I I just I haven’t seen that, but like they haven’t had any time. So, like I know it takes time to install. Um, but you got to be patient. It’s hard to be It’s hard to be patient when you’re two and 12. Like that that’s that’s forget just being just being patient, Justin. I mean, you got to when you look around I mean, even when they get healthier, right? Um, if Queen’s still in the starting lineup when Zion returns, they’re not playing through Queen in the high post. Like, he’ll get his looks. They have to they have to make that based off of based off of matchups and and subs, right? And with Fears, like, and here’s my here’s my dilemma with Fears and Queen, they both, which isn’t a bad thing, but they both desperately want the basketball and need the basketball in their hands, you know, which which which it it it brings a it brings an interesting kind of dynamic, but you want those two to be unselfish together at some point because you’re hoping in five years you’re talking about a really good tandem. And I think right now you’re just looking at guys trying to trying to show off what they can do and do a lot individually with the basketball. Yeah. It’s tough having those two start. Man, I think um man, I want to give a a big shout out to Troy Weaver and I’m gonna say that just from a talent evaluation standpoint, his Pistons 10 games in a row and the only thing they did was hire you a good coach and Cade finally, you know, he got healthy. Cade got healthy. Assar is healthy now. Ivy’s back. Duran kind of finally figured it out because we was worried about Duran for a while. It was looking rough. They got rid of Killian. They they you know they got it together now. So things things can change in the women especially when you evaluate talent properly. But again like I kind of mentioned last night when I look at these guys with the Pelican struggle I’m not I’m not concerned about Queen at all. I think I think there’s plenty of contemporaries right now that kind of like this can work like that player archetype. Not concerned from that standpoint. But I will say that again when you watch the Pelicans, what you see is a lack of strength, athleticism, and shooting. And it really makes me wonder what the strength and conditioning program is because it’s like everyone just looks frail and sickly and weird. And I I think that’s a that’s a real real issue. It’s been the issue for years. It was funny at first, but now you going into like several years in a row like, “Yo, bro, why do you look exactly the same? You look exactly the same and you just getting manhandle out there like it.” And I think the sooner you, you know, you start implementing new people, new strength and conditioning people into the building, I think the quicker you’ll see some hope for more hope for Derek Queen because Derek Queen got to get stronger. You gotta get a lot stronger. Get stronger. You gotta get a lot. He definitely got stronger. He wants to um Justin, you know, in college when we watch a lot of the film outside of the skill, he could bully people. He could move people out of the way whenever he wants to. A transition for him is realizing that you’re not moving these 240, 30, 50 pound professionals in the same way. And honestly, that’s how that’s where some of his turnovers arrive as well. like you’re not getting the college call of of of moving your elbow high or pushing off with your shoulder and getting the same looks. You’re not, you know, those those foul attempts, those free throw attempts that you got in college are going to turn into turnovers at the next level because they’re not calling it for you yet. So, go ahead. No, I also want to add this to echo uh what Chris is saying in Queen. I already see this. The writing is on the wall because I’m I’m already sick of it. You got to stop crying to the refs, dog. You got to stop because you gonna become Boogie Cousins and you not as good as Boogie Cousins to make that work. You gonna become a ref’s enemy. And with your play style once a [ __ ] start flopping, you just get the call, dog. You go get the call and it’s it’s it’s you gonna get the charge. You need to stop. It’s very interesting that those two things coincided. But even with the the Lakers game, nobody was showing up to see Luca. You know what I’m saying? It just I think casually people just not really going. So until you get some casual people in there, people who like, “Hey, what the fuck?” They not They not gonna do nothing. They’re not. So, what changes from shoot round to the warm-up?” Like, what? So, there’s no sense in me being concerned about it now. It’s done. I can sit here and be concerned all I want, but we still don’t have the pick. Uh, I didn’t see that quote. Yeah, I commented on that earlier. Look, I understand something cost and these types of things. And I also understand the situation I think and we’ll talk about this more later, but it’s evident the situation Joe Dumos find himself in with this roster being void of talent. So, if he feels like Derek Queen is a talent, I think we all can agree that he’s he’s a very talented player. Um, then cool, whatever. Because again, who knows if like next year, let’s say you got the worst [ __ ] record, right? Next, your your pick can realistically drop to five. The difference between number one and number five. Is it it’s not I mean is it really that significant? Like who who knows, right? Um and you can always get another pick in the offseason. Like you can always get back into the late lottery 20s, what have you in the offseason because who knows where your pick would be. I think that Joe is viewing this as a multi-year approach. And I think with, you know, the rookies kind of being, you know, them going through the es and flows and Willie Green doing what he’s doing and Herb and Hawkins just being virtually unplayable to be honest. I I think it kind of changes everything like what happened with P and Willie, what happened with Z and Willie, what happened with Eve and Willie?
