Hornets vs Bucks: Coach Charles Lee Postgame Media Availability | 11/12/2025

You guys pulled ahead with I think the run at the end of the first quarter into the second. I think it was 163. Uh never looked back. What impressed you most about how you uh took the lead and and kind of finished it over those last 40 minutes and never really that Milwaukee get within striking distance? Yeah, I was proud of a lot of things from the group. um first and foremost uh to be able to adjust your mindset from one scouting report that you do at shootaround till a major creator is out of the game and then now you got to be thinking less about the paint and a little bit more about the three-point line knowing that that group was going to play a little bit faster and um they they they get up a ton of threes like a lot of really good shooters and I thought our group did a great job of adjusting getting us some different coverages um limiting their amount of threes that they were able to get and then we’ve talked a ton about how do we play better um in third quarters and can we have a little bit of a stronger start and I thought the group did that to make them have to call the first time out of the third quarter I think gave us a little bit of a boost knowing that we’re learning from some of these experiences and understanding what it takes. Um and just follow up Musa had I think season high 13 rebounds, eight offensive rebounds and 19 second chance points as a team. Uh his energy and on the glass seemed like he got a hand on just about every rebound. Uh how much do you credit his impact in being able to win uh the glass by 15? Musa’s energy um became contagious. It lifts your whole group spirit um belief everything. Uh it’s a dagger to the other team as this guy is like relentless on the glass and he’s getting excuse me uh he’s getting our team extra possessions. Um I think he’s also like crushing again their momentum and um then everyone else is crashing. like that’s where sometimes he needs a partner though because he commands um double teams on the boards and then these other guys are able I think to fly in and get some extra possessions too and and I I just love the fact that even as he gets that offensive rebound he’s not always thinking about himself he’s thinking about the pain has uh collapsed. I’ve now drawn three guys around me and he’s kicking out for some open threes and like that unselfishness is huge. Um, and it’s what our team has to continue to be about. Um, because even when he doesn’t come up with them, he’s usually helping us get to the bonus as well. Uh, because he’s drawn some fouls. You talked about stressing physicality as of late and you start the game, you guys are ratcheting up the fullourt pressure. Could you talk about what led to that move? Yeah, I think just trying to be a little bit more aggressive. Um, it helps our activity. um can we get into the other team’s clock a little bit, take away their rhythm, um understand the feel of the game. Rollins has got it going a little bit, maybe we got to pick up. And so I think the guys have just really bought in to trying to um disrupt the other team a little bit more than just sitting back on our heels. And so it’s just good to see us start to find a rhythm and be open-minded to doing a lot of different things to try to break the other team’s rhythm. Nice game from Pat Coneton tonight. Do you think you had a little bit of extra because it was his former team on the other side of the floor or was just a continuation of what you guys have seen from him in the last couple of weeks? Say it was probably just uh what he does uh day in day day out. Um he’s just an ultimate competitor and that’s what we love about him and so um I think that he’s just trying to get better every day. Um he’s excited to be able to play a little bit more and and I think help impact this young group and kind of show us how to win and stuff. So, um I I love the the impact that he had on the game because he definitely came in with like a purpose and a physicality um and had great great boost, great energy. Uh you talked a lot about kind of closing quarters. Uh early in the first half they cut in the lead. Trey man just kind of hit a circus shot three to put you guys back up 10. Talk about that moment, not just to maybe encapsulate the entire night, but just what it meant to kind of stop that run and get it back out front. Yeah, I think that it takes uh even more execute better execution and understanding of what the flow of the game is in those moments. And so the fact that we were able to I think like withstand a little bit of their run um be able to take a little bit of momentum into the locker room, it it always helps. And so, um, glad glad that our group is just starting to learn the importance of the start of quarters, end of quarters, and how it can create a lot of, uh, uh, rhythm, uh, or or confidence boost for for our Monday’s postgame. Miles came in here and said, “Expect us to do better next game regarding the third quarter. You guys start the third quarter with four straight stops and rebounds.” What’s that like? You kind of touched on it earlier, but actually being able to use stuff that you preach and kind of see the fruition of it happening on the court. I think it feels good and uh I’m glad that Miles says that. Uh I love that he’s taking ownership of the fact of being vocal about those moments and as soon as we left the huddle um you know to start the third quarter, he’s bringing it up. Let’s try to get a buzz kill. Uh let’s really make sure that defensively we’re locked in and understand what our coverage is right here and the fullcourt pressure was really good. So, uh I just love the the mentality uh deciding that uh we want to get better at something. It’s good. It’s easy to say it and now it’s like let’s put some action to that and we did it tonight and so we just got to be able to continue to build on that and sustain it. Charles, uh just Ryan Kulk Brener’s efficiency on the offensive end. Uh what have you noticed about that and and what did you know coming in after drafting him about I mean 8 for8 tonight. We all saw the stat 81.8% coming in. Nobody done that through 10 games. Uh he stays within himself. He’s not trying to do too much. Uh, I think that he understands what what his role is and where he needs to be on the floor. Um, his screening, his ability to roll. He’s got great hands, so our players trust throwing it up to lobs or um on the glass. He’s able to come up with some offensive rebounds and um versus some of these switches or early in transition, he’s sprinting the floor, he’s creating these magnets um and he’s and he’s playing under control. And then the last piece is just like the basketball IQ of understanding how to work that dunker. He does a great job of seeing our guys drive. We got some guys that I think are willing to put their heads down and and get a piece of the paint now and he sees what direction they’re going and he’s circling under and making it tough on defenders and so uh the the fact that he’s shooting such a great percentage I think is a testament to him but also his teammates um trusting him down there and finding him. When were you aware that he was going to be able to go tonight given given the circumstances? Yeah, you know, it was uh it was uh touch and go, but I’m glad that we found a way to get him here because he definitely helped and impacted the game. Thank you. Usually helps. [Music]

  1. Bring back Salaun to the rotation – we need his defense and scoring – guys are gassed in the 3rd quarter, mcneely hand taped up maybe rest him so he can heal and play salaun
