Now, the New York Jets over the last couple of weeks, um, completely polar opposite games. Like the Bengals game was the typical offensive battle, late fourth quarter comeback. Justin Fields was actually pretty damn good in that matchup. And then, uh, you know, you had last week where the offense was just flatout terrible. Um, you got ti two special teams touchdowns, so it was kind of a very fluky win against the Browns. Um, and I’ll just be I have no idea what the Jets are going to do tonight. Now, normally these Thursday night games, especially divisional opponents, you know, they can be sort of like that rock fight, grudge match type of football game, but uh I’ll tell you what, don’t have too much faith in uh the New York Jets today. Um but you never know, like these games are uh these games are dicey. And also, how nice would it be to just shut Patriots fans up a little bit? Like please. Again, they’re a good football team. They got the MVP favorite. They’re having a great year. But imagine the Jets win tonight and then the Patriots fans just have to live with that for not only seven days but 10 whole days at that mini bye-week. Um that would be awesome as we got uh some outper disciples coming in the building. Appreciate you guys for tuning in. Um as uh Chino was saying, but you’re not a JS Jets Jets Jets. I got some, uh, I got a little bit of faith in the Jets just keeping this close. Um, you know, Jets defense last week played some good football. Again, they’re going against one of the worst offenses in the NFL in the Cleveland Browns. But, uh, you know, Will McDonald had four sacks. Um, after going back and re-watching some of the sacks, Dylan Gabriel, uh, this dude just running in the sacks. Uh, but still, credit to Will McDonald for, uh, having those four sacks there. Defense played solid. you know, able to somewhat limit Quinch Junkkins, which was a pleasant surprise. But the only concern, and probably the biggest reason why I think this could be a blowout tonight, is the Patriots have the best run defense in the National Football League. And with obviously the Jets wanting to run the football, no matter what, no matter if they’re down two scores, three scores, does not matter. Um, I could just see this getting pretty ugly. Like, you’re going to probably force the hand of Tanner Angstrad to at least throw the ball more than he wants to. tell me the Jets threw the ball 11 times last week. Um that would be ideal for them to do again, but we’ll see what happens. Um if the Jets can run the football this this week, uh be a great sign moving forward with their young offensive line. You still got two really young running backs in Bree Hall and Isaiah Davis. Um we’ll see though. We’ll see. I don’t know if he’ll ever crack that top four of Lamar, Burrow, Allen, and Mahomes, but he is he is right there, man. He is having an awesome year. MVP favorite for a reason. They got a great great win last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And uh Trayvon Henderson, their young back, finally started to get going at 255 plus yard touchdowns last week. So uh Patriots are a great team. I mean, Mike Vel does a great job. He just sets that culture and uh we’ll see what happens tonight, but uh we’ll see. They haven’t been the great at running the football um so far this season. I’ll also say if Will McDonald builds off of what you did last week into this game and now you have Germaine healthy as well. I mean, if you want to beat the Patriots, there’s two things you got to do. You got to put pressure on Drake May and you got to stop Trey Ven. Yeah, this could also uh Steve Wilks, Aaron Glenn, let’s see what your game plan is here. Short week. Um Patriots are only giving up 79 yards per game on the ground. Still the Jets, I mean, their offensive statistics this year. I mean, it’s absolutely hilarious. They’re fourth in the league in running the football, but they’re 28th in yards per game and they’re 20 actually only 24th in uh points per game. So, they can still run the rock. uh they’ll stay committed to the run the entire game even if they’re down by two scores. Um but we’ll see. We’ll see. Defense has been a little better as of late. Um haven’t played an offense like the New England Patriots here, but they’re going to be without one of their top corners, a Thomas. Um and Cle Herbert, Galani Woods, and Jammarcus Weston and Braden McGregor in this one. So cornerback room going to be Jarvis Brownley, Brandon Stevens, and Jarius Monroe. Jar Monroe who just got promoted after D Wilson got put on IR. Um yeah, we’ll probably see a little bit of him. We’re going to see a little stickers tonight. Yeah. Yeah, he might be in there. Um, I think the biggest X factor in this game though is it if the Jets can legitimately run the football and shorten this football game, that’s their best chance. Like you, oh my god, five plus minute offensive drives will be huge. Even if they just end in three points, just keeping that Patriots offense off the field because listen, I thought the Jets um Jets defense was fine last week. You’re going against the Cleveland Browns. I don’t think you’re going to be able to replicate that. You’re losing a lot of talent, but if you can just almost I know it sounds crazy, but the Jets offense kind of take control of this game, run the football. If Aaron Glenn, like you think about this Jets team, they should be checked out. You started off the season 0 and7. You trade away S Gardner. You trade away Quinnon Williams. If this team can just show some fight tonight in a game everybody thinks you’re going to get absolutely blasted in. That’s a reflection of the head coach. Justin Fields is terrible. He is one of the worst quarterbacks I’ve ever seen in National Football League history. What the season he is having, he has four games under 56 passing yards. If Aaron Glenn could somehow keep this game close, his his stock in my mind will soar up. So, uh, this would be a big game for AG and the guys. Um, hopefully they just show some fight, get that run game going, too. Like the the offensive line for the Jets is legit even without Elijah Vera Tucker. Um, he’s still got Bree Hall, A Davis, those are two good backs, so feed 20 The Rock. And uh, I don’t know. I think this game would show a lot. Like even if it’s just like a 20-13 loss, 20 to 17 loss, if you have a chance in the fourth quarter, if we’re going into the fourth and this game is in within one possession, even just halftime, we’re at one possession, uh, I’d be thrilled, Patrick, my main team used to be the Blackhawks, but never went to games. I live in the Carolinas and went to Kane’s games. So now my main team is Kane’s. Oh, growing up a Blackhawks fan was awesome. Uh, the MIDI dynasty we had with Patrick Kane, Sharp, TA, all the boys. Uh Bree Hall’s kind of just been there. Eight carries, 31 yards, averaging 3.9. I mean, this is a guy that you have to get involved because he’s your playmaker. I mean, right now, the Jets are relying more on fields than in Hall. And the Jets are trying to be more balanced in offense because if you just go run run the entire game, it’s very easy to game plan against. But for the Jets right now, I mean, you might have to look there. I mean, you didn’t get Isaiah Davis more touches. He had a great run uh in Patriots territory that really got the drive in a great spot on the first drive, but we haven’t really seen him since. This is a receiving back. You could give Fields those checkown routes if he can’t make those big throws, which he hasn’t been able to. Mason Taylor’s had some catches tonight. He’s the leading receiver, I believe, right now in the Jets. He’s got those two targets for 12 yards. AD Mitchell in his Jets debut. Got that nice completion over the middle, but also had a drop on like a 40-yard pass and also the one that Fields and him missed on. But the Jets are still in scoring distance. It’s a one-sore game, so could be a lot worse. Meanwhile, for the Patriots, Drake May was nearly perfect, 140 yards. I mean, it when you don’t get a rush on the quarterback, he’s going to have a field day against you. And that’s been the case with Drake May. And Tion Henderson is also prioritizing from it because the Jets are trying to get back in the back field. Opens the gap for Henderson to possibly go and take it up the middle. 40 yards on 13 carries and he’s also been involved in the passing game. But the Patriots offense has really just been those chunk plays. M. Holland has had a couple where he’s been wide open and then Hunter Henry has been the other one. Three for 35. So overall from the Jets, it’s could be a lot worse, but you missed a lot of opportunities to put this game in a better place. But let me know what you grade the first half. I mean, if I’m grading it, I’m giving it like a C plus B minus. Although the defense that early on it was nearing F territory. I think the score is like pretty deceptive right now. Yeah, I I I did not feel like the Jets played a good first half of football. But for their standard being a two and 17 on the road playing an eight and two team um I don’t know what’ you say. I think he’s the worst passing quarterback right now out of all quarterbacks on an NFL roster. And that’s what the Jets need. They need a guy who can be accurate. Justin Fields isn’t that. If you look at what all the division leaders right now, most of them are best coach and best quarterback in that division. Yeah, 100%, Harry. And plus, like here’s the thing, like let’s just say like the Jets, like you got seven, what’s it? Eight or seven premium picks over the next two years. Um, say you get five of those players hit, but you miss on the quarterback, doesn’t matter. But if you miss on all of them, but you land that franchise quarterback, then we’re cooking with something. I just know he put the ball on the deck 54 times. I mean, he’s playing like a high school quarterback where everything’s just read option makes throws. I like that, Don. It is very high schooly. It’s either like a, you know, read option, something like that, or it’s just like you’re taking the hitch five yards over the middle of the field. I mean, guys, they don’t ask him to read a defense. I It’s like you got to make a wish kid playing quarterback. N high school quarterback is better than Fields. There there there might be one out there. I’m I’m rooting for Fields, too. He’s a likable guy. He just stinks. Okay. I think I think Fields is the tank commander. I think they’re going to keep on playing him cuz you actually can’t like you can’t beat football teams with him at quarterback unless like last week against the Browns like you get two special teams touchdowns. It is a little disrespectful, but it’s just uh just tough to watch. The make a wish kid comment was too far. I apologize. All right, eye formation for the Patriots. That’ll be uh that’d be easier. All righty, let’s talk about it. The New York Jets lost the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football with a final score of 27 to 14. And that was just the most New York Jets football game of the entire season. And I honestly thought that perfectly encapsulated what the Jets were so far this entire year on the national uh stage against the New England Patriots. But I do want to start the today’s show off talking about Justin Fields. Um the Jets are in a tough spot with this guy. Um he yet again just cannot throw the football and it is the year 2025 and he has another game where he barely gets past a 100red yards. Heading into this game, he had four games on the season with less than 60 yards passing. And then tonight, 15 of 26, 116 yards. And honestly, the one touchdown, the DB for the Patriots just fell over. There are 900 people alive right now that could have made that throw. Um, and also, I don’t want to hear the excuse with Justin Fields where it’s like, oh, it’s the offensive play caller. You know, it’s the weapons around him. In my opinion, I think the Jets have a pretty good offensive line. I think they have a hell of a running back in Bree Hall. Even Isaiah Davis, I think, is a fine running back. And now your weapons, yes, the throw to AD Mitchell was beautiful down the left sideline. He didn’t help you out. That was a bad drop. But still, like, it’s not like I don’t think the Jets have the worst supporting cast for a quarterback in the NFL. It’s not up there. It’s not top 10. It’s probably not top 15. Maybe it’s not top 20, but I still think it’s better than, you know, what people make it out to be. And it’s just tough to evaluate this Jets team with him at quarterback. I mean, it is like a high school offense they run with them. It’s either read options, it’s just inside zone, or it’s you try to run a pass play where it feels like he’s got one read and then it’s just a hitch route over the middle of the field and they just drop it off to him. Like I want to know out of all the completions this season for Justin Fields, how many of them are just on those hitches over the middle of the field, five yards in front of the quarterback? because they understand that’s the easiest throw in the book for an NFL QB. The five, six yard outs, he just can’t throw them. I mean, I think it was early on in the first quarter um or I think it was second quarter, I think the second or third possession of the game for the Jets. Uh AD Mitchell has a nice little route on an out route eight yards down the field. Fields misses him by eight yards and then third and two, they get a nice little rub route going. AD Mitchell down the right sideline. I mean, if he hits him in stride right there, that could have been a walk-in touchdown for AD Mitchell. could have been an 80 yard play. Um I just think he is just he’s just not an NFL caliber quarterback. I I don’t even think he’s a backup quarterback. Yes, he has great athletic ability. Like he can make plays out of nothing, but it’s not like he has good pocket presence. He doesn’t have good escapability. He just sucks. And I hate to say it because he’s a guy I really like rooting for. He’s clearly a good guy. like the guys in that locker room rally around him, but I I just can’t believe one Aaron Gwen rolled him back out to this week. I mean, you think about it, last two weeks, Justin Fields in eight quarters has 180 yards passing. In the last eight quarters, that’s as bad uh that is as bad as it gets. So, if you guys could let me know your thoughts down below. Should the Jets bench Justin Fields? Give me a Y for yes or give me an N for no. Um Patriots were selling out in the run today. Honestly, I was impressed that Bree Hall was even able to get 58 yards on the ground. I mean, with also, again, this all ties back in the quarterback. Like, they understand the Jets identity and their philosophy offensively is like they need want to establish the run. They want to be the more physical football team and the Patriots knew that. So, what did they do selling out in the run? I mean, the Jets, they did a good job on that opening drive, but besides that, there’s no consistent run game there. Um, John Mchi showed me a little something tonight. Maybe that was a nice little pickup by Muji at the deadline, but he him having three receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown. Again, the touchdown came when the, you know, DB fell over. Um, but he had some good releases off the line. He was getting open a couple of times. Um, so at least there’s something there with Meti, which is, uh, you know, pretty encouraging. And then Mason Taylor, I’m still a massive believer in this guy. I I like I want to see him with a legit quarterback. Um, again, just, you know, it’s tough to evaluate these guys. Like that’s why like I know Tyrod Taylor is not that much of an upgrade over Justin Fields, but at least you could evaluate Mason Taylor. You know, AD Mitchell didn’t help himself out tonight. I mean that one drop he had. I mean that was a beautifully thrown ball by Fields. You got to come down with it. Even the one over the middle of the field. I know it came in a little hot. Um still got to come down with that one. So uh you know the pass catchers like it’s tough to evaluate these guys. I mean Fields at max is going to throw for 150 yards on a good day right now. He’s got no confidence. He’s got no feel for the game. And honestly, like I just feel bad watching him. Um like he has regressed from where he was even earlier on this season compared to last season. And it’s just tough to get a look on, you know, one the offensive coordinator, one any of these pass catchers just because it is just such a vanilla high school offense. The Jets are running with him at the helm. Um pretty disappointing. But I do want to give a shout out to one guy defensively, Jermaine Johnson. I thought he had a pretty nice outing. um had that one sack. Um again, he was one-on-one with the tight end, so he did what he was supposed to do. But I thought Jermaine Johnson played a pretty nice game. Uh Brandon Stevens, he kind of reverted back to his old self. He had a nice pass break up down the field, which uh it resulted in him saying this is my you know what, and he was sticking his tongue out and uh kind of looked like a goofball doing that down 10 in the f fourth quarter. But, uh, you know, the the Jets secondary, we’ll talk about that here in just a second. But just from a talent perspective, worst in the league. Um, and we’ll talk about that here in just a moment. But you guys, let me know, why did the Jets lose? I don’t think there’s one reason, even though I’m killing Justin Fields on this postgame show, like he’s not the lone reason why the Jets lost this game. There’s a lot of reasons, but I mean, he certainly did not help. So, you guys let me know why did the Jets lose. Drop your thoughts in the comments section. It was just easy for him, man. Sitting back in the pocket, no consistent rush, just off his back foot, guys running wide open. Amount of times that guys were just not even a Jets defender within 10 yards of him. It was just easy for Drake May. Uh, and he’s a good quarterback. Like, did he really impress me too much tonight? No. But did he need to? Absolutely not. I mean, he just threw for 281 yards and a passing touchdown. Did he make a big time throw the entire night? No, he just took what the Jets defense was giving him and that was wide open receivers over and over again. Amount of times it was third and two, fourth and two, just Jets DBs getting completely shook out of their shoes. It was just easy for May tonight, man. I mean, he’s a hell of a player. Tip your cap. And that’s also a tough reality for Jets fans right now is you’re looking at Drake May is going to be a top 10 quarterback in the league for the next who knows maybe 15 seasons. Josh Allen, he’s going to be the a top two quarterback in the league for at least the next six, seven, eight years. So that’s kind of the tough reality. And then you have Justin Fields as your quarterback. Like you just can’t compete, man. Like you cannot compete. Like the Patriots barely, it felt like they weren’t even trying this game. Um you had them sweating for a little bit, but there was no panic. They were just cool, calm, and collected. And it was just uh you know disappointing out of the Jets. Trayvon Henderson three touchdowns on the night. Um almost 100 yards allpurpose, but uh you know he was doing his thing. Uh he’s a fine running back too. And then uh Stefon Diggs, he he still has it. A quiet nine receptions for 105 yards. But again, when he’s running wide open, there’s not a Jets DB on the field that can even come close to covering him. Like he did what he was supposed to do. Matt Collins, talk about guys running wide open. And I mean the amount of times him over the middle of the field sitting in that soft spot of the zone, he was killing it. Hunter Henry had a nice little outing, four for 45, but you know, the Jets defense, it’s just not good enough. Um there’s just not a lot of talent there. That’s why I think ideally if you’re looking ahead to the draft, like if you could just somehow hit Caleb DS and maybe pick five, pick seven, pick six, like right around that range. I mean, the Jets could very well have a top three pick in this year’s draft. But I think they got to attack defense. You also got to find that franchise quarterback. So, even though like yes, you have draft capital, there’s a lot of holes on this roster. I actually like offensively at least the, you know, the pillars in place, like I do think you have a good offensive line and you got a good running back. I think you got solid weapons with Garrett Wilson back there. Um, but defensively, man, you’re going to have to go attack safety. You’re going to have to attack the quarterback position because, you know, even like guys like AZ Thomas and Malachi Moore, I mean, there’s no guarantee those guys end up, you know, being guys in the NFL. Uh, you got to attack defensive tackle. So, you know, there’s a lot of holes on this Jets team. Um, I think they got to attack safety hard, attack cornerback very, very hard this offseason. I mean, you got $96 million in cap space. You got seven premium draft picks over the next two years. So, we’ll see if they, you know, make good use of all those assets.
