JONATHAN QUICK REVEALS THE TRUTH ABOUT THE RED WINGS & RANGERS BRAWL: WHAT REALLY HAPPENED
[Music] Ah man, I guess it’s old news, isn’t it? But I’d be remiss if we did not at least acknowledge the line brawl. Arguably the most beautiful sight in hockey. Even more beautiful than taking a stick and a puck over to a frozen lake up in the mountains and gliding around with the sun setting behind you. We had the line brawl between Detroit and New York a few nights ago. And this with the matchup with the jerseys, red versus blue, Madison Square Garden, a tight 2 to1 hockey game, just total hockey, manly testosterone bliss. But now we’re getting into how it started and what one Jonathan Quick had to say about the entire ordeal. Now, I just wanted to go out there and say this at the beginning of the video, but we did see ourselves a verdict posted by Peter Bo, and it turns out nobody is going to get disciplined for this big bad bash in MSG. No discipline whatsoever, which I think is the right move. I think it would be kind of difficult to try to pinpoint exactly who it was that deserved punishment or anybody who was primarily responsible more than others. I mean, of course, Jonathan Quick, Mason Appleton, these guys are the guys that kind of got it going, but everybody else went out there, too. So, yeah, you’re going to find one guy or you’re going to find everybody. Probably best to just not do it to anybody. But by this point, you’ve probably seen the video. It’s the end of the 2 to1 Red Wings victory over the Rangers. And you see Mason Appleton firing the puck into the empty net right as the horn buzzes. The camera then cuts over to the wings in their own zone. They’re just congratulating the goalie. They’re celebrating the win. And then all of a sudden, you see on the other side of the ice, it’s Jonathan Quick going out there and getting involved with Dylan Larkin. Mason Appleton is on the outside of the scrum, too. You see a bunch of other guys going in and inevitably you get just one of the most hockey pictures of all time. Yeah. No, this was a brawl, my friends. It’s the most unique part of hockey, you can say. And right after you started to see Jonathan Quick tossing hands. He doesn’t have the goalie mask on. He’s going out there and really making it difficult for the Red Wings to escape this game peacefully. Keep in mind, by the way, Jonathan Quick, as we had mentioned in the postgame video for this hockey game, Jonathan Quick was so good. Like, he’s a monster. You talk about guys who have been such amazing fantasy hockey streaming options, like one or two day pickups. This guy is one of the best whenever he gets the start because Quick, a well-rested Quick, at least is still one of the better goalies in the National Hockey League safe percentage-wise. And in this game, he was that good, too. I mean, he only let in two, but he had like 40 something shots against, and the Rangers lost two to one. It’s obviously not Quick’s fault that they ended up with the L in that one, but unfortunately, he’s the guy that starts out the line brawl. And now we have ourselves some response from Jonathan Quick as to why everything went down the way it did. Here’s what he went out there and said after Mason Appleton shot the puck into the empty net. The horn goes. A couple of seconds pass. Appleton shoots it in the net. I don’t know why the Red Wings were surprised that we went out there and fought back. It’s usually the response when something like that happens. So the boys jumped in. They did the right thing. Now, here’s the thing. If you watch the video feed, it honestly looks to me like Mason Appleton is shooting the puck right as the horn expires, not after. Now, if you go frame by frame, audio bit by audio bit, you can say that the horn does sound for a brief moment before Appleton gets the shot off. But I think just the movement that Appleton has to get control of the puck, set his hands into a shooting position, that is about the time that it takes for the horn to go off. So by the time it does go, he was already in the motion to get a shot through. And at that point, it’s like, “All right, well, yeah, maybe it did come a tiny teensy wenseeny millisecond or two late, but Jonathan quick saying, “Yeah, no, we’re not going to take that sitting down. You got to answer the bell.” And everybody, they follow the code. They want to stand up for everybody else. So, uh, line brawl ensues. Quick said that it wasn’t about the game at all. It’s a complete separate issue from the 60 minutes that took place. and then the couple of seconds and then he shoots it, right? That’s just that. He also had some other comments from Rangers players. JT Miller was giving his team credit for staying in the game despite the fact that they were heavily outshot and they ended up losing. But the Red Wings getting in on this line brawl obviously makes for one of the more visually endearing moments of the NHL season so far. I don’t think we’ve had too many like super big standout moments this year other than I’d say maybe Ovuchkin’s 900th and maybe one of those Bard or Cabbrini goals. Eh, the Connor Bard spinama on Mattuk was pretty good. Also Brad Marsha and crying after his Bruins ovation. Yeah, there have been some moments but I think none more that have had such a mainstream impact than this Rangers Red Wings brawl. for the season so far. It’s hard to find any bigger moment that has had more eyes on the sport than that. But with that in mind, you can let me know your thoughts in the comments section below. How did you feel about the Rangers stepping up and really showing to the Red Wings and Mason Appleton that, hey, you can’t be taking shots at the empty net at the end of the game. The jerseys make it so much better. Like if it was just the regular New York Rangers home jersey with the regular Detroit away jersey, like it would have been good. It would have been still entertaining, but there’s something so poetic and beautiful about red versus blue. And we have started to see some reports as well that this game between the Wings and the Rangers has started a conversation around the sport as to whether or not coloroncolor jersey matchups are actually more of an option in the NHL. And I’m sitting out here and saying, “Yeah, I mean, look at me. I make videos talking about hockey with different teams and different jerseys in the background, both in the in real life stuff and then on the video game. So, I’m always a fan of looking for a cool jersey matchup. Let’s see some more color on color, guys. I don’t want to see just whites all over. Okay. Whoa. Whoa. I’m uh H Don’t clip that. Please don’t clip that. I’d prefer not to get something taken out of context there. H I can edit that out, but I don’t know if I should. That was really funny. I apologize. But you know what I mean, right? This red and blue matchup was so fun. And if we can see other matchups, as long as the colors aren’t close to each other, like let’s see the Philadelphia Flyers in a bright orange go out there and take on, I don’t know, like the Minnesota Wild and green. Okay, maybe that’s a bad jersey idea. Um, how about the Penguins bright yellow and the LA Kings black? Ooh, that’d be a nice one. Don’t you agree? If you enjoyed this video, you can let me know in the comments section all your opinions about Jonathan Quick speaking out about the line brawl, his opinions on it. He’s kind of the guy that kickstarted it all off really. Likes help out with the algorithm. I’d really appreciate that. I hope you enjoyed this sh9 and bye. [Music] [Music]

by the rule, just like with malkin in 09, quick should be suspended, but as a wings fan im used to it
It was staged to help celebrate 100 years. (note, I do not believe that to be true, but I would love it to be true.)
Let's go Red Wings!! WoooβΌοΈ
π₯ π Boring π Let's fight πͺ π€¬ π
'Brawl' is a term used loosely for this event. It was more like a barn dance.
it was within ONE second of the buzzer. quick was not even in net, none of the other rangers cared. quick is a cry baby
Line brawl π More like XOXOβs
πππ₯°πππ₯° You obviously donβt know what a brawl is
Nothing better for hockey when 2 100 year old teams reignite that rivalry! Love the color on color jerseys too
A couple of seconds was a definite exhaggeration by Quick to justify his action. It's not a big deal either way, and I'm happy for the picturesque result, but be honest about it.
the rangers are a bunch of cry babies that's what happened π
Tampa Panther game earlier this year
To an NHL goalie in game mode, 1 second late probably feels like 2 minutes late. Thats a lifetime when you're used to stopping a puck in a fraction of a second.
That's one of those silly rules in hockey that you just don't do. As soon as I saw that nonchalant shot into the net, I knew it would start something. Always does.
I thought the rangers' response was a fairlt mild and appropriate response to a fairly mild shot into the empty net.
Should have been 2-0, next time he should do a celly
Quick left the bench. Suspension? He wants to make excuses. He wants a code… He must be cool accepting a suspension. Pay up salty baby.
We got an epic photo out of it, regardless of the circumstances. It just feels cheap if it's because he wants to cry about a shot at the net as the horn went.
A couple of seconds? Okay Quick. I don't really care, and I enjoyed it. However, if anyone should have got a fine or something, it's Quick. He is the 1st guy who left the bench. He was the guy who initiated everything. Legendary dude, incredibly douchey statement.
Color coordinated hockey? Who knew?
