Tennessee Titans fan goes NUTS watching Skip Bayless talk about Cam Ward and the Titans
Tennessee Titans fans, I am apparently a glutton for punishment. I’m a glutton for punishment. Two words, skip bailis talking about the Tennessee Titans. The title of the video is Brian Callahan failed Cam Warden and the Titans. This is an old video from a few weeks ago, but I never saw it. So, here you go. Ski up. We have some breaking news. Brian Callahan, that’s how old the video is. This is breaking news right after it happened. But I never saw this. One in five start just got fired. So we want to dive into that because that was breaking news about 5 minutes ago. So Skip, are you surprised that Callahan got fired so quick? I am. Amy Adams Strunk does not mess around. She’s running the team as the daughter of the late Butt Adams. And we’re what, six games in six to season number two. He’s four and 19 as the head coach. This is just me. I couldn’t understand why he was hired in the first place. I got to give it to Skia cuz if I remember correctly, when they hired Callahan, he said that he went on I guess they still had Undisputed at that time. Maybe he went on some show and said, “I don’t I don’t like the hire.” probably what he’s about to say now about why he didn’t like it and I was angry about it, but he was right. I’ll give it to Skia. He was right because he was not the coordinator for Joe Burrow and Joe Burrow can make anybody look pretty great as the quarterback. He’s right. But but he was the remember Zack Taylor’s the play caller and I think the the the buck stops on his desk when it comes to what the offensive design is if not on Joe Burrow’s desk. And off that riding those coattales, Brian Callahan got this job in part because I know his father very well. Bill Callahan is one of the greatest offensive line coaches ever and did coach the Raiders that I covered to the Super Bowl that year. They got smoked by your your Buccaneers, but still he did do that. watched that live off the and Bill Callahan’s Raiders beat the Titans in the AFC Championship to get to that Super Bowl. Father’s credentials. The son got a shot that maybe he didn’t deserve, but obviously he’s the fastest coach fired after picking a quarterback number one overall. Cam Ward has not been very good. He’s he’s had flashes and moments. I’m not writing him completely off, but it just seems like Brian Callahan at least deserved this year just to see if if he could figure something else out. And I assume AD Amy Adams trunk just said, “Nope, I’ve seen enough. That’s it.” Right. Uh on paper, yeah, I would have agreed that like Brian Callahan did deserve I mean, I don’t know why we’re talking about Callahan. He’s been fired for like nearly two months now, but for I don’t even know. times a flat circle, but um you know, I can see how the idea is, yeah, you give him the whole year, see if he can figure it out, but it was just so bad. Like, it was so bad. It’s not much better with McCoy, but like it was so bad. The the handwriting was on the wall. I I think it was time for him. I think I actually think Callahan got that job because you’re supposed to be an offensive guru, right? You got it from Shawn McVey. You come from that tree. Okay. Well, I guess so. Uh Taylor, Coach Taylor, you come from Shawn McVey. You come from Coach Taylor. So, you supposed to have it supposed to look a certain way. And I don’t think they saw that. You know what I’m saying? In six weeks, we don’t see no glimpse of Shawn McVey. Nothing. Nothing even close. So, what do we hire you for? You know what I’m saying? Hire somebody to do a job, they do, they not even close to doing their job. You going to fire their ass too, right, Skip? Yeah, he’s right. That’s right. That’s That’s the truth right there. We hired you to be an offensive guru and Will regressed. Cam came in and was having to work against you or like was having to work against your system. Like what are you here for? What are we doing here? It’s not even close. So they can’t go wrong right here. I mean, hey, next man up. I if it’s somebody from Shawn McVey, I I think Cam will do well with somebody from that tree. But like you said, maybe it’s the experience in the game calling plays. Maybe they need to find somebody like that. You know what I’m saying? So I I was with it, man. It was time for a change, man. Cam, he deserved better. Thank you. Yeah. I don’t I don’t mind the decision. I was surprised like you were, Skip. I didn’t think it was going to happen this early. I mean, it’s six games into Cam Ward’s career and you’re already losing your head coach, so that worries me. But this is the risk you take nowadays with hiring these young coaches who have never been a head coach before because some that’s why I think they need to hire somebody with some experience as the next head coach. I mean because it was a risk hiring Callahan that didn’t pay off. If you go hire Joe Brady or Clint Kubak or one of these young upand cominging coordinators, yeah, it might work out. But the Titans desperately need experience and stability. times it hits and it’s great and you found your guy of the future and sometimes it doesn’t work and now you set your franchise back multiple years with a first round pick or a first overall pick at quarterback that needs to be developed the right way. So, it’s frustrating either way. Whatever they do going forward, they cannot miss again. You have to be perfect with your decision-m. They have a jump start right now on the process. they they can spend all this time throughout the year behind the scenes, you know, figuring out who they want to make their next coach, guys that they want to put on that short list, go do their due diligence, do these interviews, who’s going to be great for Cam Ward, what’s going to help our organization get to where we want to be, but also make Cam Ward the quarterback of the future. So, they got to get it figured out. I just I know we spoke a couple weeks ago about me being worried about Cam Ward and I know where he’s from and he’s gone through some adversity, but this was the thing that that I was concerned about as Okay. So, would you let Cam pick the next head coach? No, you don’t let him pick. You’re not going to let him pick. What? Cam, you pick. Like, that would be the most Titans thing ever. Hey, Cam, you’ve been in the league for 12 weeks. You pick somebody. Like, what are you even talking about? Pick the next head coach. But if you have the right people in place to make decisions, they’re going to look at all the film and and and do their interviews and watch all the tape and do these different things and say, “Hey, Cam Ward can play in this offense. Cam Ward can play for this guy.” Or they may go get a defensive minded coach, but you can’t miss on your offensive coordinator because right now your focus, yes, needs to be in the entire team, but priority 1A is is how you develop Cam Ward going forward because that’s your investment. I want I want all the way just put it on hiring the young coaches and this is the risk you take. You can hire an old coach. You never know. You don’t know what’s going to happen, man. You can hire an old guy who was He’s He’s saying a lot of truth. I mean, honestly, we talk about experience and stability, and I get that. But, I mean, even like, it’s not like Mike McCarthy is a sure thing. Like, it’s not like Mike McCarthy is just a guarantee. Then, no coach is a guarantee. But I’ll tell you what, you watch a team like the Carolina Panthers, you know, Bryce Young was not good. He was benched at one point last year. They hired Dave Canelis as their head coach. I didn’t like that hire. Looked like he was going to get fired after this season with the way they started. But look now, like all of a sudden things are clicking. So you just never know. You never know. Great. Before he come in, he trash now. You know what I’m saying? So it is what it is. Sometimes it worked with older coaches or younger coaches. Sometimes it don’t. You know what I’m saying? This one ain’t work out. Go to the next guy. So allow me to say one more time. If they had picked Shadur instead of Cam, I know you love Cam, but I love Shadur more. I don’t think this would have happened. That’s just me. That’s how good Shad is. And he can he he has the charisma factor, the IT factor to change the franchise and and inspire the defense as well as the offense. And I haven’t seen Cam be able to do that yet. Oh my gosh, that’s outrageous. I’m in shock. It’s not a knock on Shadore who just got his first playing time this past Sunday, but like it’s not even it’s about him daring to say this would not have happened with Shadur. He is saying Shadur Sanders would have saved Brian Callahan’s job because he has charisma because he has Riz. It hurts. It physically it physically hurts. How does this man even say these things? I haven’t seen Cam do it yet. When have you seen Sedor do it? This was recorded a month and a half ago. He just played this past Sunday and it was not good. Oh my gosh. Am I Is this guy serious? I think Cam Doo had that. I mean, you look at everywhere he went. Everywhere he’s been, they won as well. Just like Shadore. I think that’s what I mean. They didn’t win national championship. I mean did what are you talking about? Didn’t either. You know what I’m saying? No, but they turned around at Jackson State and then coming to Colorado where they were a doormat. I mean, they completely turned around the team that they went to. You know what I’m saying? The team was flat and damn near dead and they brought it back to life. So, I feel like Cam Ward does have that ability. And uh I feel like that’s why him and Shador, they kind of click. That’s why that’s why they that’s what they got in common. That’s why they’re so close cuz they both kind of got that charisma to turn the team around. You know what I’m saying? I agree with that, too. I mean, when you watch Cam to to act like what is this guy not I’m talking about ski, what is he talking about? God bless Shannon Sharp for sitting across from him on film. He makes some throws that not a lot of guys can make. He has these arm angles that you don’t learn as a young player. He’s just a natural thrower of the football. Those are things you can’t teach. you hear coaches saying, “Hey, you can’t teach that.” That’s what Cam Ward has. And Shador’s in that category as well. He can make some throws on tape where you’re like, “All right, there’s not a lot of guys that can do that.” But back to your point, when it comes to hiring these young coaches, I get what you’re saying. And there’s times where coaches are great at one place and they don’t do a good job at the next place. But at least I just love that they’re trying to have a reasonable discussion about coaches and hiring young coaches. And Skip’s like, “Well, Shadore, what happened to Shadore?” Like if Mel Kyper was there, he would have been like the amen corner for ski up. He would he would have he would have had the white hanky out. Preach. You’re going through that process. You have a baseline of all right, this is what we can expect from a Shawn Peyton. This is what we can expect from Pete Carol coming to the Raiders. When you’re hiring a guy like Brian Callahan or some of these younger coaches, you have no idea what you’re going to get. You don’t know what the organization’s going to look like. You don’t know what the foundation, but you can name the ones who did good in those situations as well. You know what I’m saying? 100%. But I’m saying it’s so hit that that’s why I’m dude he’s got he has good arguments for everything. He has got such reasonable arguments for everything that’s thrown at him. And I’m a I’ve I’m enjoying either you find the guy of the future like the McVeys and the Kyle Shanahans of the world where it’s like all right we’ve got our guy or you get the Brian Callahanss of the world where it doesn’t work out and now you set your organization back a couple years and this next hire becomes so important because if you miss you’re going to significantly hurt Cam Ward’s development. Mhm. Is there any coach that you’d want to see with Cam Warren? It’s tough. It’s too early. Um, and I was I mean I I’ll be honest. I’ll call it I thought Brian Callahan was going to be a good hire when they hired him last year. I thought I the Shawn McVey tree, all of that. I’m like he can be the guy that can turn around. I hate that they got rid of Rabbel in the first place. I’m a big Mike fan. Well, look what he’s working out for the Patriots. But yeah, I when they hired Callahan and I think he had a little bit more to do with Joe Burrow’s development. I mean, he went through an injury, helped him get back from that. He was in the quarterback, meetings with him day in and day out for all that time they went through. Even though he’s not calling plays as an offensive coordinator, you’re still installing the game plan, going over it with the quarterback, making sure that you’re on the same page with each other and that he can go out there and perform at a high level. So, I was a fan of this hire. And then you hire and then you go get Cam Ward. I mean, I said it back on on a show I did, you know, I think in April before the draft or back in February before the draft. I said, “Go get Cam Ward number one overall and pair him up with Brian Callahan. I think you’re going to give him at least a shot to develop the right way.” But then again, reality sets in. You never know what’s going to happen. Listen, anybody who coaches Joe Burrow is a product of Joe Burrow. I I don’t care what you say. Again, that part I agree with. That part I agree with. But you know that that’s why I’m hesitant to go after Joe Brady because I mean, is Joe Brady that good at his job or is Josh Allen just Josh Allen? you know, is uh some of these other guys that have been thrown around. Uh Clint Kubak, he’s working with Sam Darnold. So, with with him, I’m more intrigued by like, okay, he doesn’t have a star quarterback and their offense has been whooping people and they’ll whoop the Titans on Sunday. I I respect his ability as a coach, as an offensive coach, but no, it it’s not going to translate immediately. Oh, you did that for Joe Burrow and you’ll do that for Cam Ward. No, you won’t. I’m not saying it will, but when you’re This is all going through the hiring process. These are all whatifs and may. When you just look at it from the outside, looking in, you would think, okay, when the Titans were figuring out who’s going to be our next head coach, and they did the interviews, but you see, okay, he worked well with Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow did this while he was working with Brian Callahan as the offensive coordinator. Maybe we can replicate the same thing here at Tennessee. The reality sets in though, once they get there, you don’t know if you’re going to find that same thing. You’re not going to find a guy like Joe Burrow, but you go get a number one overall pick and Cam Ward, you’re just hoping to to replicate that and have some same magic. Last thing about Cam Ward, I watched him a lot at Miami. I haven’t watched him a whole lot yet this year. I don’t know how much film. Do you understand the problem here that at the beginning of this clip, Skip said, “Cam’s just not been any good.” And now he’s saying, “I haven’t really watched him. He’s been reading. He’s looking at the box score. He’s looking at the box score. You’ve studied. Yeah, I watched a couple games. But at Miami, he tended to go Caleb too much where he would just he he was so much more athletic and so much stronger and more physical than a lot of the people rushing him that he could beat all of them and make a play on the run. You you can’t consistently get away with Caleb Williams on this level. We’ll see Caleb again tonight. I don’t feel like he has tried. I mean, he’s had a couple of moments where, you know, he’s fallen down and flips it out to the left or the first touchdown of the year where he’s rolling out right and chunks it back to the left. And yeah, you don’t want to get too hasty with those things. But I haven’t had very many moments this season, and I know this was only week six and Skip hasn’t even watched him as he gives this analysis. I haven’t had many moments where I’ve been like, “Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You’re trying to do too much.” Like, I haven’t felt like that really much at all. At some point, you have to stand and throw on time in this league to win to win big and win right and to win consistently. You just have to throw it from the pocket pretty regularly. You can do the other stuff in doses when you when you pick the right spot. But to me, Cam is still and maybe it’s just a product of a bad offensive line. He he still runs around and tries to You just said you don’t even watch him. How can I even take seriously anything you’re saying when you just told me you haven’t even watched make plays that he made at Miami and you just can’t pull it off. And I’ve seen too many where I’m just like hiding my eyes for him because bad stuff’s going to happen when you try that. Yeah. He going to have his learning curve. Of course, he going to have to figure out how the league works. The speed of the defense, nothing like college. But as he figuring that out, they can run the ball a lot better. You know what I’m saying? The the the flow of the game, the flow of the play calls could be a lot better. You know what I’m saying? So, he could get a lot more help than he got right now. So, I get him up out of there, man. He don’t had a team. Once you lose, it’s one thing to call plays and do whatever you do, be in the meetings with Joe Burrow day in day out, but now you got to lead all 65 of these guys. You know what I’m saying? A lot of different hats. That’s a that’s a totally different challenge. To your point, you always knew immediately first meeting, take one look at the guy. Yep. Is he got it or not got it? Hey. Yeah. Immediately. You know what I’m saying? And some guys just be jokes, man. And once the once the guys like myself, the leaders on that team play with you as a joke, hey, the rest of the guys going to follow in line, it’s just not going to be good. So, well, I’m actually shocked. We did a little like social media seg Well, I I thought that Ake Talib was really I was going to see some of the comments and what they say. Um I I I I thought Ake Talib had good points every time he talked in that clip. just I thought he had great perspective. Skip is a madman. Just it looks like this little thing they’re doing here, you have two guys who are talking reasonably about ball and then you have one guy who is just trying to troll constantly. So I just had to be lectured about how Cam Ward’s playing by someone who hasn’t even watched. So I I don’t even know what to tell you about that. But akib Talib agreed with every word he said.

Lol i recommended this video to you a while ago, knew you would get a kick out of this one
I actually laughed out loud at 8:46
The Sanders bias!!!!!
Yea Joe burrow is really good now but his first year in the league he struggled… I think he had a couple wins but the bengals sucked until his second year.
skip bayless and mel kiper are two i turn off as soon as i hear them speak.
Sanders got absolutely dog walked by the Ravens Sunday. Skip Bayless is off his rocker.
Of Course Skip Bayless would say something like that, color me shocked 😂😂
Yeah iv seen this brother Ole skip love him some sheudar sanders. Skip can get some people elbows jambroni.
I dislike Skip Bayless, a lot.
Love the content but can't bring myself to watch anything to do with skip Bayless even if it's shitting on him
It was SOOOO bad. And now it is SOOOO bad.
Honestly Shedeur would have won more games than Cam with the same team
Skeeeep actually has no clue, Cam is a pass first QB he doesn't try to make plays with his legs too much hahaha. We've literally had to force that out of him with our bad O-Line play.
Idk who’s worse ol skip or T-rac
I’m a Titans fan since Earl Campbell, I live and breathe the Titans and I don’t think it would have happened with Shedeur either!!
Bayless is a worthless moron when it comes to his football takes. I'm not even a Titans fan, but seriously .. don't torture yourself with his bullshit 😅
Titans' timing is not awesome. It's upsetting that they could've go after a ben Johnson if they had been lookin for a new HC last offseason 🤦🏻. When you have the first overall pick, ideally you start over in every way
Skipper glazes deion all day
The same guy who said the Bills game should of gone on despite Damar Hamlin almost dying on the field? Checks out
And skip was dead serious too😭😭😭💀💀
