The FASTEST MAN in BASEBALL? 💨 Chandler Simpson’s rookie season with the Rays! (2025 highlights)

Chandler Simpson will be coming to the plate who is 0 for four today making his major league debut and there’s a shot back toward left field into corner and a fair ball. There’s his first big league hit. That ball bounding out of play and so Chandler Simpson the other way. There’s a happy family group right there. Simpson with that first big league hit by the shortstop. Runner takes off. The pitch is down. The throw will float into center field and Simpson who by the time he got up was not sure where that ball had gone. So Chandler Simpson picks up his first major league steal after picking up the hit in the sixth inning. How about the rushed throw? I mean, that was a panic throw as Chandler Simpson full head of steam like right now. Fly ball center field on the run. Simpson. Did he get there? Yes, he did. The tag at third. Smith will score. Hanging on at first is Naylor. A nice job by Chandler Simpson to be able to track that ball down. As you can see, he’s a little bit to the left field side of center. has to come all the way over and just as that ball was closing in on the turf. Balls 44 in the running game. There’s a bunt and a good one coming in from third now off the mound and there’s no play to be made. Machado back at third tried to come in and King got over there but no chance. That’s got to be a part of his game because of his speed against Arizona. Shot back into straightaway center. Simpson’s going to go to the wall. leaps and he makes the catch. Chandler Simpson tracked it all the way to the wall. Had a step left, made a leap and grabbed it. And that is out number one. Simpson fired up on that catch. Yeah, real fired up. Real fired up. He just took a point away. The Rays are going to get a pinch runner. And Chandler Simpson is off and running on the pitch. And that throw down is not going to be in time. So the Rays waste no time in having Simpson steals second base. Runners are going. The pitch is down. Throws to second and that’s not going to be a time. Rays pull off the double steel. Simpson now at third and Lao picks up a stolen base and a popper short left. That’s going to be Simpson coming in and he made the catch. Simpson got there. They had shifted him from center to left and boy did that pay off. Walls going out there trying to get there and Chandler Simpson makes the grab for out number one. If he doesn’t get there in time, he’s going down to slide and look at this. I mean, you could not have timed that any better. That’s a liner into center field. Base hit. Could be two. Simpson on his way to second and he beats the throw in. Hanging on to that bag after that head first slide and a two base hit for Chandler Simpson. He swings and sends a base hit to center to tie the game. Djangowski scores and Jansen to second and Chandler Simpson delivers and it’s a blown save for Hoffman. Seven to7. Well, and again, it started with the walk and and you just felt that that walk was going to come back and haunt and it has so far. That pitch right down the middle, there’s no elevation to it at all. And Chandler Simpson, you know, he’s a good put the ball in play guy. And right there, just short to the baseball. And that’ll get it done. A base hit for Chandler Simpson. Jansen’s going to try for third and the Rays break out on top one- nothing. Infield in certainly helped. And that’s a six-game hitting streak for Simpson. and he continues to deliver in big situations. Know thyself. Just put the ball in play. Doesn’t overswing. Stays on top of that pitch. That pitch is up in the zone a little bit. Stayed on top of it. Rifled it past Simon and everybody just trades places with a run home. Hey, the runners take off. The pitch is a strike and the Rays pull off a double steel. Simpson now at third and meet up to second base. There goes Simpson to third. There will be no throw. He steals third on the first pitch to Walls, which turned out to be a strike. But now Simpson’s at third with only one out. There you go. I mean, the hater paid him no mind because he’s not going to change his mechanics and he probably knows what’s going to happen. Back down toward the corner and that ball is going to be caught. He caught it. Simpson caught it fair. And you get down into that corner. Really kind of out of our line of sight, but there’s very little room down there and Simpson caught it. Delighted with that and then rebounded and held on. Well, you you just have to keep especially moving in that direction. Track track and they will get him aboard on ball four. 3-2 breaking ball that stayed wide. Chandler on the move. Pitches a ball. Throw will not be in time. in there head first with a stolen base number 17. Well, and he pitched a perfect pitch to run on. Yiner Diaz did a heck of a job controlling that breaking ball in the dirt and giving himself a chance. It was close. Closer than you would have thought. How about that? How about that pick, scoop, and throw? Simpson on his way to third and he’s going to steal that one. The ball goes into left and he’s headed to the plate. So is the throw, but it’s not in time. And Simpson steals his way home. We talk about the pressure that Chandler Simpson puts on a defense, whether that’s a ball in play or whether that’s on the base pass. You’re going to force a mistake. He gets a great jump and here’s the mistake. A rush throw. The throw sails and so does Chandler. Runner takes off. Pitch is down and a stolen base. Boy, that ball backed up. Dubone got out there to back it up and a steal for Simpson. His third of the night. This is what the Rays do. They have been running a ton lately. You would prefer what the Raids have shown this year. High pop fly and oh that’s going to be Simpson who got there. Well, Chandler Simpson came a long way in from center field from the offense. In to center field. Is it going to hang? And it’s caught. Simpson got there challenging that sinking liner and outran it to that spot and made the catch. Nice job. Sometimes you get caught in a numbers game and they had things they wanted him to work on and he’s done exactly that. Hustles his way over to this. Now the throw to second and they’ve got a chance. He is out at second base. Simpson hustling over there to come up with that ball. So in backto back plays, Simpson shining out there in center field. Well, this is outstanding job getting around the baseball, getting his momentum behind the throw and getting it in in time. Jackson Holiday trying to test that arm of Chandler Simpson. This is a great tag, by the way, of Brandon Loud. And this will be a 13-game hitting streak for Chandler Simpson. Big turnaround first. You’re going to force that outfielder. You’ve got to keep me from getting to second base cuz that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to try to go go. Okay. If you stop me, you stop me. That’s a big moment. Tying Roco hitting streak by a rookie in Ray’s history. And a base hit stroke through the middle. That will tie this game. Kim crosses the plate. Simpson extends his inning streak to 18. Battled for that. And it’s a two- two ball game. Chandler Simpson driving that pitch right back up the middle after fighting off some really good fast balls. You see Stallings put his hands on his hip. Frustration and you see the excitement right there. And a highf fly ball back into right center. Simpson will leap and he got it. Chandler Simpson got back there and timed that leap, made the catch and breaks out a big smile. We’ll see if the Rays can get a a monster comeback going as Mason McGomery’s first pitch is caught by Chandler Simpson taking a hit away from Tyler Soderstroke. Nice play by Chandler. That ball looked like it may find the turf. The way it’s been going for the Athletics, you almost expected to, but Chandler not on his watch. Not that one. And he does that. It should tie it up. Magnum scores. Here comes Kim and Simpson delivers. What a wacky one tonight already. 6-6 in the fourth inning. A credit here again to Simpson left on left. We just got done talking about it because of that. Go the other way. That ball’s actually in. He’s really good at slapping the ball the other way when it’s away from him. He does a great job of staying inside that baseball and going the other way. There’s the single you were talking about. And by the mound backhanded an attempt. That ball got away from Maid as he put that glove down there trying to backhand it. Sharply hit and that’s going to be a base hit. Line drive. Base hit the other way. The Rays have some speed aboard now. Chandler two for two. Chandler Simpson to begin the inning. And there’s a base hit lined over Montgomery’s head. The Rays with speed aboard. And there’s a base hit the other way. Chandler Simpson has four hits. This one off the lefty. Four for four. Back into center field. Simpson’s going to go to the track to the wall. He leaps. He’s got it. Chandler Simpson made the catch. The tag at third. Snider will score. But what a grab Simpson back there. And they keep Guerrero Jr. at first. And boy, out of that blast, the Rays got about any and everything they were looking for here. And there’s Chandler making the grab.
