FOX Sports’ Mark Schlereth: Seahawks Should Be Confident Despite WK11 Rams Loss | Rich Eisen Show

It’s kind of crazy. Uh I’m looking at, you know, some facts that NFL Network Research sent me about what’s going on with the playoff picture 11 weeks in for in 35 straight seasons, at least four teams have qualified for the playoffs after failing to make the postseason the year before. And currently there’s six such teams in playoff spots. Six, not four, six. There’s more. I I can’t tell, right? Like, can you tell who’s who’s even going to be in a final four in each conference, let alone the Super Bowl? I’m serious right now, Mark. It’s wide open in a way. I I can’t recall. There’s not there’s not one dominant team. I mean, you look at even you look at the Rams who I thought, okay, the Rams, I was I I I gave them the best team in the league kind of designation last week. Me, too. And then they they beat Seattle, but they get four turnovers. They get four short fields and they score 21 points. Like you should beat Seattle by 21 points if that’s what you get. And you end you end up beating them by a score 2119. And so like even in a loss like those are those kind of losses Rich you you walk away from as a player and you’re like hey man we really screwed this up. We cost oursel this game and we did this on the road. We’re a damn good football team. And you know, for Sam Darnold, I know there’s a lot of talk up out there out there. Can he win the big one? You know, does he choke in the in in kind of the critical moments? And I think ultimately, you don’t have to prove it anymore. There’s nothing you have to prove. You’re a damn good quarterback. Just be judicious with the football and making decisions. You don’t have to prove to us that you’re our guy. We paid you. You’re our guy. We believe in you. And so I I think you walk away from that game with a level of confidence even in a loss if you’re Seattle. No doubt. When you if you’re Seattle, you walk out of that building um saying when we see them in week 18, what are the odds that Sam’s going to throw four picks and we’re going to settle for four field goals? You know what I mean? Like what are the odd like even let’s turn even one of those field goals into a touchdown, right? Let’s turn one of those interceptions into a longer drive, maybe for another field goal, right? I mean like Seattle’s got to feel good if they can about the way that they lost. Is that fair to say, you know? Yeah. I you know, it’s it’s funny in my own career. I went to Kansas City once and we lost a game late on a like a 54 yard field goal last play of the game. And um and you know, you walk out of that game going, man, losing sucks, but we’re a damn good football team. I think that was I think that actually was uh uh the the our first Super Bowl year where we were a wildcard team in Denver when we went in there and lost that game in 1997. And I remember walking out of that game feeling like, man, we’re a damn good football team. If you can go into Kansas City and play them that way because it was such a tough place to play. Yeah. You know, you you’re just a really good football game. Really good football team. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. NFL on FOX analyst/’Stinkin’ Truth’ podcast host Mark Schlereth tells Rich Eisen why the Seattle Seahawks should still feel confident despite Sam Darnold’s 4 interceptions in their Week 11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

  1. These were my thoughts exactly. Rams did a darn good job too. Credit to their defence. But the fact that we even had a chance in the end is a really good sign that despite our mess ups, we can still be in it. If we make 1 less mistake we win that game in like 9 different instances. Crazy we had over 450 yards on offense despite those int's

  2. I don't agree. This is good for their defense. The Rams defense was great as well giving up only one TD and forcing all of those turn overs. The Rams offense won't play that badly again this season. They have tape on it. This was the game to steal.

  3. Probably won’t be 4 INTs next time. But you also have to consider, what are the odds the Rams offense plays that poorly again? I think the next one will be just as close. Either team could win it.

  4. Nah what if’s don’t count. It’s week to week in the NFL, every game is different for a reason. There are no moral victories. It’s either you win or lose.

  5. Many people are saying the Seahawks only lost because of Darnold's 4 interceptions. That obviously was a factor. But what about their failures to score a TD in the red zone on 3 out of 4 tries?! That's the Rams defense! That's as much of a factor of why they lost.

  6. This is dumb take, you mean to tell me Rams offense won't adjust and get better? Puka and devante will keep dropping passes? Rams d line can't get a sack if they decide to bum rush. Two respected analysts acting like only one team will make adjustments and the other just sits around smoking weed?

  7. And another thing that no one's mentioning, although they did during the telecast, and Sean half jokingly refused to address during his presser, is the challenged 1st down call at the beginning of the game that went against the Rams and then they failed to score. That clearly was a first down. The former NFL ref during the telecast agreed to that, but they ruled against the Rams. That's almost a surefire TD if they ruled it was a 1st down.

  8. There’s no moral victories. Rams won fair and square, and were able to put up more points with less than half the TOP. I could also say some dumb stuff like “don’t think Puka will fumble next time” or “don’t think Stafford will only throw for 100 yards next time” or even “I don’t think this D line that’s at the top of the league in sacks will fail to record a sack next time”, but I’m not saying any of that. Rams are good, so are the Seahawks. Rams were just the better team.

  9. The point is the Seahawks loss was mostly on Sam's self-inflicted wounds of 4 interceptions, where as Rams' struggle on offense was not necessarily on just a bad day from Stafford. It was due to dominant Seattle D that made Stafford look bad.

  10. Plenty of Seahawks fans here with such a loser mentality. Sounds like the same old Seahawks fans lmao. Even when your team is good, you still sound like a desperate fan of a terrible franchise. Doing mental gymnastics to justify why a loss looks better on you than a win does for the Rams. “We gifted them the win.” Even though it’s wrong, “gifting” a win to another team isn’t the flex you think it is. It makes the Seahawks sound like an inept underachieving squad with a “shoulda coulda woulda” mindset. Pathetic.

  11. This analysis is completely 1 sided and it's insane lol Darnolds performance is far more concerning than the Rams having an off day on offense. Why is it that the seahawks should leave with their heads held high after this loss but the Rams can't do the same after the win? Stafford was off, Puka wasn't his best and neither was Adams but the whole focus is on how the seahawks can clean up their performance. What do you think the Rams are going to do just around staying stagnant? It's ridiculous lol the Rams had an off day just like seattle did but we found a way to win despite not playing our best football 🤷🏿‍♂️🐏

  12. If it was the other way around and the rams threw 4 ints guaranteed the game wouldn’t be a 2 point game. That’s why this young Seahawks team in scary 2nd youngest team in the nfl. Props rams defense but your offense couldn’t put them away. Excited for next game.

  13. Thank you!!! I'm so sick of hearing there the best now. If ya watched the game it seemed like two very similar teams. But if we got 4 turnovers off them we would of scored more. Go Hawks!!!

  14. People forget that the 2000 Ravens won the Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer, and again with Joe Flacko. With THAT defence, Sam Darnold is plenty good enough to win the Big One. He just has to learn to not turn it over. Giving a team more possessions is football's equivalent of giving an opponent extra outs. You can't. do it. Once Sam learns that, there'll be no stopping these guys.

  15. As a Vikings fan this is exactly how Darnold played last year. Great against bad and mediocre teams, but the four games we played the Rams and the Lions he looked god awful. Any playoff team is going to have a good defense and you just can’t rely on him under those circumstances.

  16. If Kubiak had a game plan to play what the defense game him instead of slinging the foot ball down field. It would had been a more interesting game. Smart coaches put their players in position to win and play against opponents weakness.

  17. There's no moral victories in a lost, bottom line is the Rams defense put him in those situations he wished he didn't have, Rams are in sam's head, bottom line, and don't be surprised if the Rams beat them again in Seattle, Stafford missed quite a few passes that normally he doesn't, a win is a win, bottom f-ing line 😅

  18. McVay will adjust, but Klint needs to adjust some calls for Sam, and Sam the biggest factor, needs to adjust his mindset and run or something, dump it to the RB more. Screenplays from Darnold. Basically, who adjusts better in-game, the last game was close
