Gonna come across as cope-y but I really fucking hate that this team had to randomly run into the strongest juggernaut to come out of the east in at least a decade. You could argue that the LeBron Kyrie Cavs were better come playoff time but in terms of pure season-long start to finish dominance the 24 Celtics were an anomaly and the best since the prime Heatles. It especially hurts me seeing how much of a joke the East is now just 18 months later and it especially annoys me knowing Jokic got to play two play-in teams in a row to win their championship including a battered 8th seed Heat team in the Finals just 12 months prior while the Mavs had to slog through three 50 win 1st-2nd seeds in a row. I get that’s how seeding works but the difference is just so hilarious. I firmly believe that if you give this Mavs team the East opponent from literally *any other year* of the 2020s there’s a solid chance Luka is a champion and FMVP right now. The window was right there. The team made the finals and got better right before the East started to implode.
Now half those players are gone ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
For me the championship team was my favorite, followed by the 2024 team, the 2003 team, and the 2006 team. So yeah, top 2 for me.
