I don’t think he was squatting lower. His feet were definitely not spread as far in his later years. I think EDIT: plantar fasciitis (not sure why I thought knees) meant he couldn’t squat as far so he had to hold his hands higher to keep them at the level he wanted them.
Definitely the off season if we are commenting on posts like this. I love it though
Cause it was working?
I would assume that as he got older, and slower, he adjusted his stance so he could get the bat through the zone faster. Early on, he’d have to lift the bat up and start the swing. The older ones, he’s already in a position to swing.
There’s a clip out there about this from MLB. How he turned his hips with almost no stride in his swing.
Because he wanted to hit .332 with 282 HR and 861 RBI over that span.
his dick was so big it was dragging him down, he had to keep raising the bat to act as a counter weight
If I remember correctly Rodney Carew would change his stance during at bats.
Balance, mang
Cause he was the mang, mang.
Because Creed asked Can You Take it Higher ⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️
Well he had two of the greatest hitting seasons in history in 2008 and 2009, so whatever he was working towards worked.
To intimidate mofos
His wider stance reduced his need to stride to begin his swing, keeping him balanced and his head and eyes steady. Hands remaining high combined with the wider stance kept him able to get around on breaking balls and off speed pitches even if he was fooled by one. Couldn’t hit one for power if he got fooled but at least his hands were still back where they needed to be. Part of why his BA was insane.
