“Starting pitching is something that we’ll always look for. We’re not done looking for starting pitching this offseason. We’re going to continue looking at that, whether it be free agency and trade, and continue to add to that group.”
On the left field vacancy and payroll flexibility:
Perry Minasian says the payroll room created by trading Taylor Ward will allow him to go after free agents he might not have targeted before. He’s not sure who’s taking over for Ward in LF, but he mentioned possibilities already on the roster, including Mike Trout.

So he will be out injured most of his contract, got it. We certainly excel at signing contracts with injured players and it doesn’t help keep anyone healthy when the Angels have one of the worst training/support staffs in the MLB

I remember in 2024 when Perry was almost in tears about Trout missing most of the season and said “he’s going to return next year healthy and have a 50 HR season”.
I don’t really take his medical knowledge seriously on this. And in the same sentence to say “hey it’s a risk but like…there’s no problems!” Seems interesting.
I wish hope his thoughts are focused on making sure GRod returns in the best health and will make sure he is taken care of over his usually MO of rushing guys back and have them hobbling.
Perry pulled off a trade that has a huge reward, but he needs to manage that risk properly.
