Could The New York Jets Trade For Mac Jones This Off-Season?
All right, guys. What’s going on? Welcome in. In this one, let’s focus in on the Jets quarterback position here. Okay, the future of it. We’ve had the Ian Rapaort uh reports come out about Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor. Neither of them are going to be the long-term option for this team. Now, it didn’t really take like an insiders um report to, you know, come to that realization. I I mean, as Jets fans, we’re we’re watching what’s happening on Sunday. Uh it’s just simply not good enough. Is it all their fault? No. But it is definitely not helping. And so, the question now turns to what exactly is going to be the plan for 2026? And I think there’s still a lot of unknowns there. Could the Jets trade for a proven starter, right? Maybe somebody on the way out. You know, there’s a lot of Eagles fans that are, you know, getting frustrated with Jaylen Herz. There’s a lot of Cardinals fans that think that Kyler Murray has played his last game with the team. Uh, for some reason there’s this Trevor Lawrence thing that kind of continues to be talked about as well, although I don’t really feel like there’s any uh official confirmation that those two parties are destined to part ways. And I haven’t even seen one single report suggesting that Lawrence is on his way out of Jacksonville. But regardless, this is the NFL. Strange, strange things happen. You know, like there are some moves that happen in the offseason. It’s just like where the heck did that come from? Nobody saw this coming. And so that’s one path that the Jets could travel down. Another, of course, is through the draft. They land the first pick, second pick, third pick. Maybe they don’t like where they’re at. Pick six, seven, eight, somewhere in that range, and then they trade up to one or two or whatever. Definitely another route that the Jets can do uh or or travel down here. But another that a lot of fans have been have been suggesting, hey, what about trading for M. Jones? San Francisco has Brock Purie. Brock Pertie is already on on, you know, a massive mega deal. M. Jones this season has looked really impressive. 13 touchdowns, six picks, a completion percentage, by the way, of just under 70%. Over 2,100 passing yards in only eight games. You know, he has came in and not only just held it down, but has gone out and won games for that 49ers team. And so, I think if we ask the question, if Matt Jones was a Jet today, are we better or are we worse? The answer is we’re going to be better. Is he better than Fields? Is he better than Taylor? Is he better than Brady Cook? We haven’t seen Brady Cook play, but I’m going to say yeah. M Jones is better than all three of those guys right now. He would come in and be a cheap option for the Jets, which is pretty uh maybe enticing if you are Darren Muji, right? Because you have a plug-and-play guy who you feel pretty good can pick up and learn the system. That’s always been one of M. Jones’s uh strengths. I mean, even coming out of Alabama, right? His ability to pick up an offense and diagnose the defense. I mean, you’re looking at the Jets dead money, right, with Justin Fields, with Aaron Rogers, assuming Fields gets cut, which they don’t necessarily have to do that, but there’s over $50 million in dead money going to quarterbacks next season for the Jets. Again, assuming Fields gets released. So yeah, from that standpoint, you have someone who’s an upgrade, someone who can play, someone who you feel like can run the system, and someone who’s cheap. All very enticing stuff. Here’s the deal though, I have two push backs, right, with M. Jones. number and also actually real quick before we get into that another big benefit with Mack is if the Jets are maybe in love with a quarterback prospect whether that’s in round one, round two, whatever, they can essentially sit him behind Mack for a season and hope you know I guess the hope is that of course it’s not guaranteed. You kind of feel like that plan never goes smoothly, right? Think of like Mike Glennon in Chicago with Trabiscy. Most recently, uh Kurt Cousins, Michael Penn, Russell Wilson, New York Giants, Jackson Dart. Like it for whatever reason, it just never works out. But theoretically speaking, if you trade for Mack, you plug him in, you draft a quarterback, Mendoza, Simpson, whatever, a Nusmeer, Carson Beck, whoever, they now have the luxury of sitting, watching, learning, growing, developing behind someone without the, you know, pressure of when are you playing? Now, of course, it’s the NY media and, you know, there’s going to be drama created, uh, stories written. You know, I mean, there’s going to be the weekly question. Okay, well, when is the rookie quarterback going to be inserted inserted into the lineup, whether that, you know, whether Mack is playing well, he’s not playing well, they’re winning, they’re losing. Well, when’s Mendoza going to play? When’s Mendoza going to play? He needs to play. He needs to play. It’s just going to be an ongoing thing with this team. It feels very unavoidable. Unless, of course, Aaron Glenn, Darren Muji, they just slam their fist down and say, “Nope, this is the plan here.” But we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. That’s very, very, you know, far into the future here. Point is, M. Jones provides a lot of positives. Here are my two push backs though on Mac. Number one, we could have had him this off season. I I remember suggesting M. Jones. It’s just a potential option. You know, believe me, I wasn’t pounding my fist on the table saying we need M. He’s the the end all beall. He’s the option. He’s the franchise quarterback. No. But I, you know, when I threw his name out there, the reaction was no, absolutely not. If he was out there, cuz think back, he was the backup in Jacksonville. By the way, he looked great against the Jets defense and Jeff Olberrich. Uh, him and Aaron Rogers were going back and forth in that in that Jacksonville game late into the year. Um, you know, he declines that option. And when he declined that option, I figured that he was maybe looking at a team like the Giants or the Jets or the Raiders or or team like that where he can maybe slide in and compete to to be the starter, right? Because you’re declining a guaranteed backup job in Jacksonville, which I believe is the city that he’s from. So, in other words, you’re you’re you’re putting the X on that and you’re saying, “I’m going to go bet on myself somewhere else.” And he signs a two-year deal with the 49ers again to be the guaranteed backup. Maybe he wanted to follow the Sam Darnold kind of trajectory, right? Darnold go I mean Kyle any quarterback that Kyle Shanahan works with he just he just maximizes, right? I mean think of like Nick Mullins and CJ Bethard and Jimmy Garopppolo, obviously Brock Pury, the only one that really just you never really felt like quite worked out was Trey Lance and I guess maybe Brian Hoyer as well. Uh but that was in the early Shanahan days where the team just didn’t have that much talent. But the point is, Mack signs with the 49ers on a two-year deal. You had to like you got to think, okay, well, if the Jets viewed Mac as, hey, this guy could be coming in and starting games for us. We we like him enough to compete for the job that they would have had some level of interest. Now, there were not only just no reports about it, but common sense would tell you, okay, well, if Mack is declining the option in Jacksonville to be the backup if the Jets approached Jones and said, hey, we like you enough to be the starter for this upcoming season or hey, do you want to compete like have a realistic shot of becoming our starting quarterback? There would be some level of mutual interest there as oppo I mean, it’s hard to imagine Mac saying, “No, I don’t want to start. I want to be a backup. I mean, you would like to think that if that was truly the case, he would have just picked up the option in Jacksonville. So, it leads me to believe that there was probably not much interest from the Jets in the first place. And so, it hasn’t even been a full calendar year yet, right? We’re in November right now. If we think back, we were having these conversations in February and March leading up to uh free agency kicking off. And the conversation has gone from M. Jones, no way, he has a really weak arm. He’s not a proven winner. Uh some people say he’s a dirty player as well. Sometimes there’s been some like questionable plays with him maybe throwing a pick and then him trying to make a tackle or something. Uh going low like M. Jones. Absolutely not. He wasn’t good for the Patriots. He, you know, he was a backup in Jacksonville. No. And again, now we’re in November and the question amongst insiders is how much are how much is the team willing to trade to go land M. Jones? Again, the Jets could have had him for free on a deal. Now, fast forward a year and the Jets could be actually trading something of value to land the same player that they you kind of feel like didn’t even have interest in in the first place. And I remember in the uh in the videos leading up to free agency when it came to M. Jones, my thought process was he has a lot of the similarities as Jared Goff from like an archetype standpoint, right? where he’s smart. He can pick up an offense pretty quickly. He’s shown an ability to put the ball in play and throw accurate footballs if protected, but he’s not mobile at all. He does not have a strong arm. And there’s some questions about Mack playing in cold weather. You know, once the weather starts cooling down, he falls apart and the team basically just has to run the football primarily, right? And I’m not talking about like, oh, 60% run, 40% pass. Yeah. And this was actually a not coming out of Alabama as well where it’s a maybe him in a northeastern team in a colder climate isn’t really the best idea. Seattle not really the best idea cuz they don’t know if he could play and withstand that cold weather. Does he have the arm strength to really push the ball in uh downpouring rain in freezing temperatures in a snow snow game in windy environments? And Goff has a lot of those questions, right, where, you know, yes, in a dome, in warm weather, he’s fine, but when when the temperatures start to dip, like then you see the second glove come on, and every the mechanics look a little bit slower and the ball kind of wobbles throughout the air. Um, and so yes, there’s pros and cons to Mack, but the whole kind of connection was Aaron Glenn and Tanner Ringstrand are coming in from Detroit, working with Jared Goff, and seeing him grow and develop as a quarterback, as a player in the league. I I mean, Goff is playing at the best level he’s ever played at. This guy was a former number one overall pick, had multiple playoff wins with the Rams, you know, and he’s playing the best football of his career with the Detroit Lions. after that, you know, that everyone is always talking about that 0 and10 starter, 010 and one starter, whatever it was, Goff was there during that time. So, for him to get to that level is pretty damn impressive. Um, so with Mac, it’s just like, okay, well, if you want a similar archetype player that you could probably get on a cheap deal, he maybe could be an option. So, that’s my whole first push back thing is we could have had him in the first place. We didn’t have to trade up trade a draft pick. And then when it comes to actually trading there, there’s a lot of teams that need quarterbacks, man. I mean, the Raiders need quarterback help. The Browns need quarterback help. The Saints are interesting. You feel like the Saints will only move off of Tyler Shuck, Spencer Rattler if there is a 100% bonafide like they get the number one pick or second pick in the draft or maybe they make a fullon, you know, Kell Moore wants to push his chips into the middle of the table and try to make a trade for a Jaylen Herz or somebody like that, some someone that he’s worked with before in the past, Dak Prescott, you know, Kell Moore, like you trust his offensive vision, you trust his uh play calling, right, from an offensive standpoint, if the Cardinals get rid of Kyler Murray, I highly doubt they’re just going to sign Brassette to a one-year deal and call it a day. Oh, he’s our guy. That that’s it. No questions asked. We’re not going to add any more players to the room. I highly doubt that. I actually feel like Matt can make some sense in Arizona. We also have the Pittsburgh Steelers, right? Rogers is currently hurt dealing with the hand. Uh but what is he 41, 42 years old or something? Is he going to play in 2026? I’m not sure. You know, so the Steelers are another one of these teams that’s kind of, hey, what exactly is the plan at QB? There’s a lot of teams that need QB help. A lot of teams. And so the point that I’m getting at here, if you’re the 49ers, M. Jones has proven he can win games for you. He fits the system. He wants to go play for the 49ers, hence him signing there on a two-year deal in the offseason. So, I personally don’t see John Lynch, Kyle Shanahan, trading away M. Jones for a pick swap, a seventh, sixth, fifth. I think probably a fourth gets you in the door of of of a conversation. You know, if the Jets call and offer the 49ers a fifth round pick for M. Jones. If you’re a Niner fan, do you feel comfortable doing that? I wouldn’t I would rather just keep Mack. He’s a cheap option that’s already under contract for next for next season. And in the event that gets hurt again, Mack can step in and win you a game. The Jets don’t have a third. And so now we’re starting to get into that dangerous round two, round one uh category. And that’s simply out of the question. Simply out of the question. I don’t care that we have so many first. I don’t care that we have two twos this year. I am not trading a first or second for M. Jones, right? Nope. But let’s just hypothetically say the Jets want to offer a fourth, but the Steelers are like, you know what, here’s our third. Could he be in Pittsburgh? Right? So, I feel like that’s it’s that’s there’s going to be some friction there, right? And then out bidding the other teams that could have potential interest because it’s not just a Jets thing that is being talked about with Mack. It’s, you know, being talked about in Browns circles. It’s being talked about again with with Pittsburgh, right? Hey, we’re we’re trying to evaluate the landscape moving forward at this position to try to land a realistic smart option at the position. Ideally cheap, but it is what it is. You you can’t always get that. But Mac provides all three of those boxes. And so before I end the video, um I want to make this one last point. And it’s not necessarily about Mac specifically, but it’s more so more so a conversation about the optics around a player, right? An optic a perspective about a player. I mean, I don’t know how many times we have to see someone go to another team after being written off by like, you know, the mainstream media and they reemerge and they have this resurgence and become the man. I mean, look at what I mean, I know Sam Darnold didn’t perform well against the Rams, but he looks like he’s going to be the option in Seattle for a long time, right? Look at Baker Mayfield with the Tampa Bay Bucks. You know, look at Jared Goff, right? With with the Detroit Lions again. Look at M. Jones, not even a full calendar a year ago. The thought of M. Jones, whether it was for the Jets or another team out there, it’s just like, he’s not a franchise quarterback. No way. We’re not we’re not going down that. We we can’t actually invest in M. Jones to be the franchise quarterback. But again, we’re here sitting here right now in November talking about what could be the uh the trade compensation to go land M. Jones when he was a free agent this past off season. Look at the the um optics around Daniel Jones. How do the Colts, how do players around people around the league view Daniel Jones now compared to his time with the Giants? I mean, if we even want to take it a step further, we could even look at the Matthew Stafford trade, right? And that was I I feel like pretty universally speaking, okay, the Rams won this deal. The Rams are a win now team. You have Shawn McVey. He’s a great great offensive mind. He is probably the best uh play caller in football and has been for years. Um Andy Reed’s up there, Kyle Shannon’s up there, but McVey at worst is top three. He is handpicking a super talented guy and Matt Stafford here trading away first round picks and a third and Jared Goff. Trust McVey here. But there was a subset of people that posed this question. Wait a sec. you are, your answer to getting over the hump, to win playoff games, to win the Super Bowl is to trade all this, you know, treasure trove of draft picks in in a quarterback here in golf for an older expensive quarterback that has never won in the playoffs. How can we expect? cuz Matthew Stafford was always labeled as kind of this uh very talented guy, but I remember a lot of people said that Stafford was a loser. You know, he what what was Stafford’s playoff record? How many times did he win the division? And so again, the question was, okay, the solution to turn it around in the playoffs, to win the big game, to win numerous playoff games, and to win a Super Bowl. The solution to that is to go out and land a quarterback that’s never done that before. But lo and behold, it worked out. It worked out. And again, that wasn’t the mainstream way of thinking. Uh, at the time, you know, it was Goff is on the decline. He cannot perform. McVeyy’s one of the smartest offensive minds. If he’s moving off of Goff, there’s a reason why. And he wants his guy in Matthew Stafford. I mean, it was almost like Goff was the throwin to the deal. It was really the draft picks. It was those first round picks plus more. And Goff just kind of came in. uh you kind of feel like in the back end it wasn’t like Stafford and Goff and oh just throwing a couple firsts. So the whole reason why I’m bringing this up is because maybe there’s a quarterback out there that mainstream wise, big picture-wise, we’re looking at saying this guy’s not going to be an option. This guy like for the Jets in 2026, no way. We don’t want him. But a year from now, if he’s on another team, if he’s on the Jets, the perception around players change at some I I mean, there are some players out there, Daniel Jones specifically, that you feel like, how will they ever get out of like the doldrums of being made fun of on TV and in radio shows, but we’ve seen time and time and time and time again? You can rewrite your career. You can get back on track. It’s all about the fit. It’s all about who believes in you. And of course, other things have to go right. Right. You need talent around you. You need a a competent coaching staff. But if we start throwing names out like Jaylen Herz or Kyler Murray, guys that you kind of feel like they’re they’re not looked at pretty uh pretty highly right now, but with the change of scenery, maybe they could be the next Goff. So anyway, let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. Thanks so much for watching. I have another video coming on Kurt Cousins kind of talking about the same thing, but uh I didn’t want to include both QBs in one video and have it be like I don’t even know how long, 30, 40 minutes. So anyway, thanks so much guys. I appreciate it and as always, go Jets.
Could the New York Jets make a trade for San Francisco 49ers QB Mac Jones this off-season? As always..Go Jets!

Why not make a move for Mac and Mendoza
No thanks to Mac Jones š
Itās funny because people was bringing up Mac jones last off season and got laughed at or told they was stupid but now he looks good and we want him š
Ps I wrote that before you brought it up lol
Mac Jones is the perfect temperament for NY if one considers his dirty style at times, Jets fans have seen that with Jets game encounters with him. To me that translate to his personality of someone you wouldnāt take NY sh*t. He is an overachiever type and that bodes well also when going against what heāll face in NY, with also having a him against the doubter mentality that I believe will fuel him. Going up twice against NE could also could be a plus against the team who dumped him when NE gave him the worst possible OCās after his first year with them to continue his development. Heās my first choice when also factoring in what itāll take to get him.
Iām with you, Mac Jones was my first option for 2025.
Jones is a dirty player. This makes me question his character, whether he will even help a rookie QB.
We have so many needs with a bunch of cap space. jones proved he can run an offense and win games. Iād give up the 3rd round pick, if we end up keeping it, for Jones. Draft picks are like lottery tickets. You donāt know if they are going to hit. At least we have a better chance with Jones on his ticket hitting. Iām also not sold on this QB class. Wait until 2027 QB class, and if Jones shows heās a good QB, more picks for positions of needā¦
Mac Jones is good⦠Iāve always thought he was, even at the end of New England. The issue was that coachingā¦. Clearly. Mac Jones is a more sure thing than a random rookie in a weak class. Mac jones will be leading a team soon
The Jets were so thirsty this offseason for Fields š¤¦š½āā dude cant hit the broad side of a barn and he's in Dubai partying…………. fuck a vacation especially when you need to get better!!! Lamar got better every year!!!! I would have passed on Mac Jones myself, watching him in Jacksonville was bad and it makes you wonder what went wrong?
PHILLY WOULD BE A FOOL TO EVEN DREAM ABOUT LETTING JALEN HURTS WALK AWAY.
trading for mac jones is just adding a speed bump on our slope down hill. Draft a rookie, sign a bum free agent to start first 4-5 games, and then get the rookie rolling.
Mac Jones is the answer, even if its just for a transition season and jets draft a quarterback in 2027. This season, focus on rebuilding the team and making it strong, and improving on last season's record. third season the goal needs to be make the playoffs. Mac Jones is better than fields and actually throws the ball. sure he makes mistakes sometimes, but at least he takes that risk.
Trade for jalen hurts…now
If Aaron Rodgers could not do nothing for you and Mac Jones would be even worse.
The Jets like legs. Jalen Hurts may be to pricey and Trevor would be nice but again the price tag. The Jets need a linsanity moment! Maybe Brady Cook can provide that. Ty Simpson is smart and can pick up the system pretty fast.
Yes would love to see him stick it to patriots
Ian, the question is, is he the same player as he was a year ago?
Do we really want to go for the trifecta of bad qbās of the 2021 draft class? Surely he will be bad here. Hard pass
HELL NAH!!!!!!….. SMH…. I want NO parts of Mac Jones….. HELL NAH!!!!!
I hope not. HATE Mac Jones! Not just cause he was the Pats QB… but he was such a baby. Always faking a hit to draw a flag. But worse, he would punch and kick defensive players in the groin. I'd rather the Jets try to get Trevor Lawrence
Mac Jones would be prohibitively expensive to obtain because he's that valuable to the Niners. I don't think they'll trade him anyway, given Purdy's injury history.
Don't forget, Mac went to the Pro Bowl [alternate] his first year in New England. Josh McDaniels and Mac had it going on. Then Josh leaves to be the Raiders HC. Belichick ruined Mac. Making DC Matt Patricia the OC? Wtf!?? Mac feels comfortable in SFs offense. He's done a helluva job. My question is, does he transplant well? Will he be the Mac Jones in NY as he is in SF? āļøš
We gotta stop doing this to ourselves man. Mac is good on the Niners with Shanahan. He would not be good on the Jets
49ers would want a 1st or 2nd rd pk for Jones.
Get ready to celebrate pick sixes and 2-9
lets go get trey lance in free agency. would be a cheap deal. hes still young. also never been given a actual opportunity. looked good in pre season.
mac is a good football player
Gotham cat chilling on Jets Central bed because it will be on his third or fourth life by the time by the time his humans get a franchise quarterback
6 – 7!!!
Just get somebody that know how to play the quarterback position and be consistent. Thatās it anybody I donāt careš¤¦āāļø
Fernando Mendoza
Mac jones is backup quarterback nothing more
I'd trade for Mac if the price is right. Since we don't have a 3rd, it will be tricky. If I'm San Fran, I'm not giving him up easily. I think trading for Tanner McKee will be a more realistic option and he will be the hot name for this offseason.
I hope Glenn will succeed but Iām doubtful. Year went the opposite of what I expected.
Love this 100x more than Kyler Murray
Drew Aller in the 3rd
