NEWS: New York Mets FINALIZE 2026 MLB Coaching Staff

One of the most important tasks of the off seasonason is now complete for the New York Mets. They have finalized our coaching staff for 2026. This is Ryan Ficklestein, the host of Lockdown Mets and there were a few vacancies. We were still waiting on the Mets filling when it came to their staff and now those hires have been announced. Justin Willard, it was the worstkept secret that he was going to be the New York Mets new pitching coach. Comes over from the Red Sox was their uh head of pitching. So, as far as the minor league system and being that bridge between the farm system and the big league club, Willard had a lot of responsibilities with the Red Sox. Now, he gets the top job with the New York Mets. You have his new assistant pitching coach as Dan McKenna who is getting promoted from DoubleA Bingmpington. So, a lot of familiarity with the Mets system. You have a lot of young arms that are coming to the surface. We saw Jonah Tong, Brandon Sprro, Nolan Mlan all make their debuts at the end of last season. You have Jack Wener, a Jonathan Sanucci that could very well be up at some point in 2026. So McKini is a little bit of a bridge into the farm system. He knows these arms well. I think that is a very interesting and good hire. You also have a new first base coach. They have hired Gilbert Gomez who was the manager in Brooklyn. He now gets a first base coach job. He’ll also be the outfield coach for the New York Mets. And then you have a couple guys who are officially remaining with the team. Jose Rosado will be back as the bullpen coach and Raphael Fernandez will be an assistant hitting coach. So to run you through the whole staff top to bottom, manager Carlos Mendoza, director of major league hitting Jeff Albert, bench coach Kai Koreah, hitting coach Troy Snicker, pitching coach Justin Willard, assistant hitting coach Raphael Fernandez, assistant pitching coach Dan McKini, Gilbert Gomez at first base and outfield coach. Again, Rosado as the bullpen coach, Tim Leaper as the third base and infield coach. You have Danny Barnes on the staff as a quality assurance coach. And last but not least, a catching coach, JP Arnibia, who was with the uh Syracuse Mets as their bench coach and I think assistant hitting coach last year. He was credited with helping Francisco Alvarez a lot when he got demoted mid-season. So, a new staff, a lot of internal promotions. The New York Mets like what’s been going on in their farm system and they are going to bring some of that energy up to the big league club in 2026.
