Sights & Sounds: Week 11 vs Cincinnati Bengals | Pittsburgh Steelers

When Cincinnati and Pittsburgh meet, it’s not just a game, it’s a grudge match for the Bengals. This game was pivotal for keeping their season alive. As the Steelers found out on October 16th with Joe Flack with the helm, completely different Bengals offense. Even though they’re 1 and2, they’re averaging almost 38 points per game in the three games with him pulling the trigger the last three games. It’s going to start with us. It’s going to end with us. We know who the dogs is. We know who going to get out the most, who going to push the hardest. Let’s go out there and whoop. Give me a D line on three. 1 2 3. For the Steelers, they had something to prove after last week’s performance and look to maintain their division lead. Clear your memory. That’s going to be the first thing that you need to do. Clear your memory of last week. And the best way to clear that is to go take it out on the team in front of you. Right now, the Bengals hold that nugget, right? They have the W in their hands. You got to go snatch it from them. And the mentality that you have to go with is I need to punish. I need to pound. Let’s do it. Take care of the ball. The rest of them go down like water. Dominate today, man. Be the best group on this entire field regardless of position. Be the best group out here. Let’s go. Moving windy. Ball’s moving. Look a little bit longer. Damp in there. Take care of the football. It’s round two of this storied AFC North rivalry where intensity, physicality, and animosity take over. The offense let the cat out of the bag on their first drive. Rogers under center. Washington in motion left to right and the playaction pass rolling out to the right and he hits his man Mechaf crossing toward the right and out of bounds near midfield. So a cross pattern roll out to the right first down Steelers at the 50 a pickup of 17. Here’s the pitch to Jen Warren trying the left side finds a crease burst through to the 40 cuts back to the right now to the 30 yd line inside the 25. jumps up in the air, bounces off DJ Turner, keeps his feet and gets all the way down to the 13 yd line. Here’s a pass out to the left flat for Gainwell gets to the edge and scampers into the end zone. And Kenneth Gainwell has given the Steelers an early lead on this opening drive with a touchdown. It feels so good, doesn’t it? An opening drive touchdown. We haven’t said that for a number of weeks. That’s a great start for the Steelers offense. The Bengals played copycat on the next drive. Sawyer and Watt to the right. Hayward and Herbig to the left of the formation. Snap back looking firing over the middle. It is complete. Very close to first down yardage at the 39 yd line to Yosh. And let’s see what they’re going to call this. They are going to call it a first down after the pickup of 11. Second and three. Flaco under center. Tightly bunched formation to the right. Now Chase moves in motion left to right. The hand off to Brown off the right side. Cuts back to left. Squirts through a hole. Crosses the 30 yd line and is wrestled down by Jaylen Ramsay at the 29 yd line. A pickup of 14 and a first down for the Bengals. Receivers moving out to the right. Flaco drops back into the shotgun and looks to his left. Gets the snap back to pass. Looking right now comes back to the left. has all kinds of time flagging behind him. Going to throw it up the right sideline. Has a man open. That is Higgins. Higgins is in for a touchdown. And now the Bengals will send their offense back out there. Flaco comes out. Pistol formation. Brown right behind him. Blackco standing at the 5 yd line. Brown is literally right behind him now. Flaco will motion out. Brown will get the direct snap for a crease off the left side and he’s hit and dropped. By the second quarter, what was expected to be a high-scoring affair was anything but with both defenses rising to the occasion. Second and six from their own 14 yd line with Joe Flacco and Chase Brown standing behind him. Yose in motion and now the give to Brown and not much taken down there after a yard or two pickup. Flaco gets the snap. Back to pass looking going to loft deep intended for Chase. Batted away. Beautiful play by James Pierre. Rogers hitches to Warren trying the left side and Warren hit in the back field. Shrugs it off and now hit again. Just a one-yd gain for Warren. Scronic moves in motion right to left. Lone set back as Warren and Warren gets a snap. Start to the right and hit in the back field. Just before halftime though, the Steelers put together a scoring drive. In the shotgun has Gainwell to his left. Two receivers split to each side as he gets a snap back. Pressure coming. Rogers tries to step forward now. Rolls out to his right. Rogers had some room. Rogers going to tuck it and slide across the 20 out to the 21 yd line and pick up a first down for the Steelers. Oh, the old man still has legs. So, the ball is at the 38 yd line. 51 seconds remaining as he gets a snap. Back to pass. Looking fires over the middle of the field. Complete to Darnell Wash. Oh, he shuts down a man and then lowers his shoulder rumbling down the left sideline. Oh, he shrugged him off with a stiff arm and got down the left sideline inside the 35 yd line of the Bengals down to the 31. No Jake break on that semi-trail, fellas. That was a runaway truck ramp. Darnell Washington stiff arms the first guy. Lowers the boom on Gino Stone. Stays on the tight rope and then smoked the third defender. 319. Now here’s a hand off to Gabwell off the left side. find some room inside the 20 down to the 19 yd line. A pickup of about 12. Rogers gets a snap looking left. Pump fakes. Comes back now rolling out to the left looking, stopping and going to heave it towards the back of the end zone and incomplete. One-handed grab by Gainwell. Rogers avoiding the sack and slow to get up cuz he was hammered at the end of that play. wanted seven. But look, when you get the ball at your own seven yd line, under two minutes remaining, you’ll take the three and add to the lead and make it 10-6. Now, this will be a 25 yd attempt for Boswell. Here’s the hold. Here’s the kick. That kick is up. That kick is good. Well, guys, there’s only 10 seconds left in this first half, but Aaron Rogers immediately took off his helmet and ran into the Steelers locker room with some of the team doctors. After that hit, it looked like he was kind of grabbing his left wrist. Obviously, they were able to try for it on that third down. We’ll keep you posted if we hear anything. And that is the end of the second quarter. Coming out of the half, the defense remained KY, holding the Bengals to just a field goal. Rico looks back at him, gets the signal that it’s okay, gets a snap, here’s the kick, and it is right down the middle by McFersonson. And we have a one-point game. 1153 remains. Aaron Rogers still has not come out of the locker room. We are told he is dealing with that left wrist injury. Questionable to return to today’s game. So Mason Rudolph his next man up in terms of the quarterback. With Aaron Rodgers out for the count, the Steelers had to rely on a familiar face to lead the offense. A third and 11 with the clock stopped 918 remaining third quarter. Rudolph has game to his right. Bengals showing fiveman rush and they will bring four. Rudolph back to pass looking fires and he’s got Roman Wilson off the left sideline and Wilson on a deep cross has a first down to the 47 yd line. The Bengals like you said Roman just broke off at the top of that route when everybody kind of went with DK running the streak and able to hit Roman Wilson past the sticks. Rudolph moving the team briskly in the shotgun back the pass looking throws underneath and this is DK Meetaf. Metaf starts to the right, cuts back to the left, lunges forward, taken down by Battle, close to a first down. And let’s see what they mark it. Let’s see if they’ll give him the full 10. No, they’re going to say just short. So Rudolph once again, no huddle. Gets a snap. Back to pass. Looking right now coming back left now. Will throw back right again. This is Metaf. Metaf with a reception inside the 20 and down to the 19 yd line. First down for the Steelers. Love this fast pace of play by Mason Rudolph and the decision making. So set up in the right hash. A 30-yard field goal attempt for Chris Boswell is to extend the Steelers lead back to four. Snap, hold, kick, up, kick, good. On the next drive, the defense made a statement that would change the momentum of the afternoon. So now a third and nine edge of field goal range here in these conditions for the Bengals. Crowd up to waving 51 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Flaco gets his snap back to pass. Steelers bringing five. Flack over the middle of the field. It’s picked off. It’s Duggar. Duggar to the 40 yd line. Racing across the 50 to the 40 looking for a block from Herbing. Gets it streaking down the left sideline. makes Chase miss and waltes into the end zone. Oh, Rob, I called for it. I said, “We need something to help this team out.” And this defense gets a takeaway. But not only that, you put the exclamation point on that by returning it for a touchdown. And my goodness, welcome Kyle Duggar to the Steelers. That That’s a very awesome moment. The Bengals tried to claw their way back. Cloudy and windy here at AAR Stadium. The Steelers enjoying a 20 to9 lead. Showing a fourman front. Flaco gets a snap. Back to pass. Steelers bringing four. Flaco steps up. Hit as he throws and a deep out to the right side. It’s complete to T. Higgins. Just had time to get that off for a first down all the way out to the 46 yd line. Flaco gets a snap. Back to pass looking throws underneath. This is Chase Brown. Brown breaks one tackle and a Tom Wo is able to track him down after a pickup of about eight down close to the 45 yd line of the Steelers. 10th play of the drive. Brown motions to the left. Empty set for Flaco. Three receivers to the right, two to the left as he gets a snap. Back under pressure. Down he goes. He is sacked by Nick Herig. Back at the 25 yd line. Oh, what a beautiful jump on Orlando Brown in the snap count by Herbig who does almost like a swim and a dip at the same time. Comes almost unabated and just knocks out Flaco on that play. Great job by Nick Herbick, who is now your Steelers sack leader with six and a half sacks. 48 yd field goal attempt for McFersonson. Here’s the snap. Here’s the hold. Here’s the boot. And that kick is up and curls inside the right upright and good for McFersonson. 941 remains in the fourth quarter. On the next drive, football player Kenneth Gainwell carried the load as the Steelers look to put the game out of reach. Rudolph taps both sides of the helmet. Now brings a man in motion close to him as he gets a snap. Back to pass. Looking throws out in the right flat. It is complete. Gainwell’s heads straight up the field and Gainwell maintains his balance, stumbles forward, gets to the 36 and picks up a Steelers first down. Spencer Anderson in motion right to left now a screen set out to the right. This is Gate picks up some blocks streaking down the right sideline to the 20. Cuts inside and tripped up as he gets inside the 10 and down to the seven yd line. Jordan Battle saved a touchdown, but a beautifully designed screen play out to the right side. Oh, some great blocks by the big bodies out there. Mason McCormack, Jordan Fatanu out in the lead, creating that funnel for Kenneth Gainwell and narrowly escape. Jordan Battle falling backwards was able to clip the heel of Kenneth Gainwell preventing the touchdown. In the shotgun, five left on the play clock as Rudolph gets a snap. Back to pass. Looking left to game on the left flat. Gainwell shrugs off a tackle and gets into the end zone for a Pittsburgh Steelers touchdown. Second receiving touchdown from Kenneth Gainwell in this game going in the same direction. Uh man, what a great job by Kenneth Gainwell. Man, I appreciate you, man. Ain’t no doubt. And on the very next play, the defense took any curiosity away from the Bengals. Flaco gets the snap. Back to pass looking, throws out to the right flat. It is complete to Noah Fan. And Fanton hands around the ball, but still lost it. It’s picked up by Pierre. Pierre racing down the left side. Somersaults into the end zone and a second defensive touchdown for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Two takeaways, two touchdowns. Right now, this Steelers defense has been playing lights out and that is great. Hey, which way? Which way? Which way? Still right here, man. Still kick off throughout. Man, what a job this defense did against Higgins and Chase. How about Mason Rudolph? Phenomenal job in relief of Aaron Rogers here in the second half, helping guide the Steelers to a 34-12 victory.
