And basically supports the fact some of us been saying when people were trying to defend Nico and saying he isn't making the decision alone. Nico's JOB was to SELL his boss on an idea! He sold a rich dude who doesn't know basketball on the thought that it's a good idea to trade Luka. Lmao

  1. I been said that, I even got my post deleted by moderators when I posted it 🤷‍♂️

  2. This was clear to anybody who didn’t have a clear axe to grind with the owners because of politics. This was clearly thought of and orchestrated by Nico and sold to the owners who don’t know a god damn thing about basketball. They knew Nico built a team and got to the finals so they trusted his judgement.

  3. We need to clean house with a fresh slate. One guy ruined the entire franchise with one single bad trade because of his ego and incompetence.

Fire Kidd next. He needs to go.

  4. yea he took credit for Lindseys moves and claimed them to be his. The finals run gave him all the credibility he needed in the eyes of Dumont. Now the mavericks have a bloated salary, staring at a rebuild, but at least they have some valuable assets in davis, irving, washington, gafford, and lively to help facilitate that rebuild if needed.

I do like that cuban is saying they won’t trade davis this season if at all because there is no point to trade him when his value is low and wait and see if players like Giannis ask out of Milwaukee.

  5. Being clueless is not an excuse for trading luka lmao! Luka isn’t some role player. He literally was the mavs. Dumont not knowing how important luka was to the franchise was straight up BS. Both nico and dumont wanted luka out. Dumont just made nico his fall guy after all the backlash lmao!

  6. I had a comment somewhere in the sub earlier today that a huge part about the way this went down is Nico’s background coming from c suite boardrooms and him being a huge corpo snake and all the reporting from today seems to support that. It really comes across as just a couple of losers thinking they’re in Succession fighting for power and control of the franchise.

This article actually pretty much confirms everything I’ve always thought about why the trade happened the way it did.

Nico in typical corporate exec fashion cleaned house and got rid of everybody from the old regime, surrounded himself with yes men, and then when Mark was out of the picture and the new boss was in town, he basically shifted blame for the bad stuff onto everybody else around him and took credit for everything good. New clueless boss strolls into the office, is immediately greeted with a run to “the championship games”, now he thinks Nico is some sort of basketball genius. He took advantage of that to pitch this horseshit that Luka was a bad business investment and that he could moneyball and trade his way to making the team better by replacing his production with a harder working, cheaper, “more bought into the culture” employee.

The strangest part to me is that Mark got circles ran around him. He hired Nico thinking he could just use him as some dancing puppet to attract players using his Nike connections and even hired Dennis Lindsey to babysit him and then within a year or two Nico had completely iced him out of the franchise and taken control of everything.

  7. So basically Nico took credit for Dennis Lindsey’s trade ideas & said he knew how to build a team. Dumont believed him & now we’re without a generational PG & a terrible team. Great. I just wish Cuban would’ve never sold the team

  8. Aside from Nico and Dumont, this is also Cuban’s fault. It appears that he still wanted control, but he SOLD the team. He cashed out and left the team to someone who he felt inexperienced. Wrong time to do that Mark. Also, we all know that majority owners will always have control. He’s been a businessman for decades and yet his agreement was only verbal.

  9. Story just confirmed he took all the worst things about Kobe like naming yourself a super lame nickname and treating co-workers like shit and left out the part where he was actually talented at his job.
