Carmelo, Vince and T-Mac talk LeBron’s return and what it means for Lakers

LeBron James will return tonight for his season debut with the Lakers, becoming the first player in NBA history to play in 23 seasons, passing none other than Vince Carter. And here’s what Vince Camlo Anthony and Tracy McGrady had to say about LeBron’s return for the Lakers. Well, let’s have a conversation about what LeBron we would like to see fitting in with what Austin Reeves and Luca have established with this Lakers team. You see, that’s what I would like to see him just fit in because I mean, he’s been around long enough long enough where he understands who he is and how he he needs to play and he’s he’s been sitting there just surveying what’s going on. And the ask has been Austin Reeds. We need him to step up now that Luca is there and he’s done that. So, why not why lose that? And I think LeBron now being that third guy can step into that that mix and just makes them makes them a tougher team to guard. Uh, but I I still like to feature Austin and just LeBron ease his way back into this. He got to get those loans right anyway. LeBron know what he’s doing. You know, I I I think his his return is giving the Lakers like a a shot in the arm when it comes to identity and and and stabilizing the Lakers like what he brings to the game at this point in his career. He doesn’t have to have the ball in his hands. like he he could turn into that third option on a really good team, Laker team, and be as effective as that third option as he would be with the ball in his hand. So, I think him coming back allows Luca to continue to do what he’s doing. Give he’s going to give Austin Reeves that confidence, even more confidence to continue what he’s doing and now he can just pick his spots. That experience of him being around in the league for 20, you know, 23 years, like that that experience comes into play, especially at the end of the game. Yeah. Yeah. So, I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about, you know, LeBron LeBron’s return and and folks saying he has to, you know, he has to fit in. He has to take a backseat to these guys cuz they playing so well. Are you kidding me? Yeah. Like, come on. Like, like like like like let’s stop that that crazy talk. I think cuz Brun has been playing off the ball. If people haven’t been watching the Lakers on LeBron the last three years, he’s been playing off the ball ever since Lucas’s got it. He’s definitely been off the ball. But I think what Braun’s return is going to elevate Luca. It’s going to elevate Austin Reeves. It’s going to elevate these other guys because right now if you look at the shooting from Luca and Austin Reeves, their shooting from the perimeter is atrocious, right? But now when you bring Brun back, they can still dominate the ball and do what they do. He’s not taking away from that. We don’t want to take away from what Austin Reeves is doing. We don’t want to take away from what Luca does. Brun is so great with pulling gravity on the weak side is what I see. So you could have Austin Reeds with the ball, Braun being on the weak side with Luca as well. So you got to pick and roll. I’m just picture this. You got pick and roll with Luca with the ball, right? And you got Braun and Austin Reeves on the other side. That’s why I said preeason Austin Reeves is going to have to knock down stationary shots. Luca is going to have to knock down stationary shots at a high clip because if Bronn is playing off the ball and you guys are on the same side when that pick and roll is happening on that on that weak side, Bronn is diving to that basket pulling all kind of gravity. So the gravity is pulling being pulled all kind of ways what’s going to be open that corner three that we be talking about that perimeter three is going to be open the pass that loop that pass that pass that loop up and that guy whoever is on the receiving end of that is going to have to knock down a high clip. I think what you’re bringing up though is the people the conversation people are having is whose team is this? Who cares about that? That’s that’s what people keep going back and pointing to the the surging. It’s Luca. We who’s going to have the ball in their hands when the game ends and you’re just saying any one of these Luca is going to have the ball in his hands. LeBron is is going to manipulate the game to where he’s in position to be as effective as possible. So, if that’s him, like like Tracy said, setting screens, getting into that short pocket, being a quarterback, he he got um Vanderbilt going back door, he got Ruy out there on the wing, he got Austin on the other wing. He’s more of a threat right now at being a pick and roll guy, short guy, than him, the offense running through him. So, it’s going to be interesting to see him come back in. Very dangerous person player coming into this this lineup because he could do so much. He’s such a great basketball player, a smart cerebral basketball player with him setting a pick and roll. So with him setting that screen and now he’s being on the receiving end of that to make a play out of that, LeBron is the best to do that. You have LeBron James as your third option. Let’s just, you know, as your third option. Mhm. That’s a mismatch on most nights because he’s going to outsmart the third best player on the opposing team anywhere anywhere. Austin Reeves the opportunity to go against a third player because you know you’re going to put the pecking order is going to be obviously Luca and LeBron best defenders and then now Austin Reeves continues to get to play against now the third best defender. I say all that to say they still I don’t I don’t see them in a conversation with OKC or Denver. Well, it’s not too many teams in a conversation with them. But when you talk about competing now the Lakers give themselves a fair shot at going out there to compete. Now, I don’t know if they can compete with OKC because they just on another planet right now. But what the Lakers is about to do hopefully from from LeBron coming back, it’s going to be fun to watch. Yeah. Yeah.

  1. u telling lebron to fit in???? he aint you babyyyy. he can literally lead the league in assists if he wants to. lebron is not like yall two you trying to tell lebron to play the third option???? tmac is right. lebron dont need to step back are you kidding me??

  2. Every conversation with the media is “how will Bron fit with this roster” tbh Bron will fit with any teams any system let alone with the Lakers
Why’s the media acting like this is his first game with Luka and the Lakers

  3. Lebron just needs to play like magic johnson just find open people and score when he needs 2, dont need him to make 30pts a night if he can better the players around him to score 10-20pt etc

  4. Then why they let Lauri score 41 and why Lebron got -27 on the first half of the game? I saw Lebron not competing defense everytime he guard with lauri or even switch with mykhailiuk.
