Listen, I want to discuss this all… but I can’t get past the fact that Jhostynxon is nicknamed “The Password” and I don’t see a single symbol or arabic numeral.
My opinions: I think there’s some massive NY bias in this article, the Yanks and Mets offers feel comparatively light. I like the Red Sox return the most I think, Campbell is gonna be a guy and he’s on a cheap deal. I think Fetter’s gonna be able to work with Early and getting the password is gonna be fun!
I still think we can more than most of these proposed deals, especially if teams end up in a bidding war. My personal best case scenario (aside from an extension) would be if we could SOMEHOW snag Sasaki from LA, but I think the Dodgers don’t need SP bad enough to do something dumb like that lol
I don’t hate most of those. My preference is obviously to have Skubal long-term, but that’s (mostly) out of our control and if it comes to it, some of these packages would soften to blow in my eyes for sure.
That Yankees offer sucks
My thing is we have 2 good catchers and one prospect that’s highly regarded on the pipeline.
Realistically to me, the guys far exceeded expectations the last 2 years. The idea of running it back this year for a win all is crazy to me. I want us to have a solid 3rd baseman, closers that don’t rise my blood pressure, and consistency from Tork and Riley that disappeared when we needed it last season.
I think we trade Skubal or we start having a Mets like payroll that’s insane to me. I’m not saying I want him gone, but we need aavoid return. not a horrendous contract that tanks our ability to build an actual team. It’s fun the league is competitive but one amazing guy isn’t going win games, just ask Skenes if you think differently.
I would say if it has to be done, you focus on the Sox or Mets:
-Try to get Mclean from them, but that package is OK.
– For Sox, I would probably want Duran in it. I also question if Campbell is actually an asset. He has a Colt Keith style contract, and has descended down the defensive spectrum rapidly. Corner OF now. Would have to be a phenomenal hitter for that contract to have surplus value
I hate the Yankees and Dodgers packages. Mariners kind of interesting
I understand that he’s a good prospect that they may be willing to part with, but… If there is a Mariners trade that involves Harry Ford, it’s going to be a 3 team deal. The Tigers are not going to be chasing upper minors catching prospects right now.
I would prefer if he went to the National League if we had to trade him.

Yankees: Pass.
Mariners: Pass. I dont believe in Miller.
Dodgers: Probably pass. I think Dodgers’ prospects are overrated.
Red Sox and Mets are the only offers worth considering
Only offer that even makes sense is the dodgers one including glasnow.
I would expect top pitchers and middle infielders, why catchers and outfielders the two areas, if any, the Tigers are stacked at already?
None of these deals seem like the blow me away type the Tigers said they’d need to even consider trading Skubal though. If the deals are just ok, or really even just fair value it’s not enough. It’s a 2x Cy Young Award winner, it should be lopsided to the Tigers.
Let’s get freaking wild here:
Red Sox: Skubal, Torkleson
Tigers: Early, Tolle, Arias, Gharcia, Marcus Phillips
Tigers add two young left SPs. One with front end potential and the other mid- to back.
1st base gets occupied by Keith and Valencia.
3rd base is filled from one of our young guys.
Arias adds potential SS of the future. Gharcia comes in an battles for CF/RF playing time day and adds some right handed pop.
I’d rather have Skubal but you know whatever. Just having some fun.
Sending Detroit another 2B (red sox) to put into the same basket as Torres/Ibanez/Lee/Jung/Anderson/Mcgonicle/Keith just tells me the whole article is trash.
If I’m the Tigers, no deal is even considered unless the other team’s #1 prospect is the centerpiece.
For example, Mets must include Nolan McLean.
Mariners must include Colt Emerson.
*Rabble Rabble Rabble – I have no idea if any of these prospects are any good.
Horrible Idea! I want Skubal! Unless these prospects are amazing and turn in John Smoltz…then I’m good
