Leafs make SHOCKING moves… Multiple HUGE Leafs Updates | Toronto Maple Leafs News

Toronto Mate Leafs have made multiple shocking moves in what has been one of the craziest weeks of the year for the Leafs thus far. Craig Brew continues to make moves this time. A shocking move that has fans fired up, but we also have multiple injury updates, including one surrounding Austin Matthews and even Anthony Stard. A ton to go over on this episode, folks. But before we get into it all, if you’re part of the percentage who aren’t subscribed to the channel, quick reminder to hit that subscribe button. Darius, a lot to go over today. And quite frankly, it has been a pretty brutal week of injuries. A lot of news coming out, but we do have some more moves they have made. And let’s dive right into the moves here today. The one move, and we’ll dive into a bunch of different things. There’s tons of injury updates. There’s tons of other things, but Darius, you might see here, and we don’t usually dive into lines right away. You can see who was promoted to the top line, and Cali Yarncro is officially on the top line, which is not only shocking, I am floored that this is happening. They’ve moved Quillin down to the fourth line. count on the third line. A ton of moves today, but Cali Yarn Croak leading the line, the right wing spot on the first line is something I never thought in a million years would happen. Yeah. Well, it happened at the end of last game for a little bit and they were experimenting with that a little bit and then McMahon went up back with the top line. Now, Knander playing on the left side is very interesting. Uh, so I want to see how that plays out cuz I don’t know if he’s I don’t want to say he’s never done that, but it’s been a long time. So, that’ll be interesting to keep an eye on, too. That second line is interesting with Domi Robertson and McMahon because if you remember back to last year, Nick, that was a third line at one point and a really good third line. So, I wonder what they’re going to be able to do together. They’re reunited in that way. And then, you know, Cowan Lton is back in the lineup. Looks like he will be uh playing tonight. We had a comment from Craig Breub yesterday after we recorded our video that it looked like he could possibly go today. So, it looks like he’s returning to the lineup, which is great news. And in talking about reuniting guys together, that was the fourth line in the preseason. So Rub’s reuniting some lines here. Very interesting stuff. And then Quillin, I think, moves down to the fourth line. He looked pretty good last game, but I think he’s just moving down to the fourth line because he’s not going to play on the first line, and you want to keep that uh synergy between those two lines that you’ve already seen in the past together. See how they do tonight heading into a big game against Columbus. The other interesting thing I noticed from the lineup is uh Joseph Wall will be starting again, which is not necessarily a surprise, but he will be starting. So very interesting lines tonight. Hey, Brew is going back to the classics with some of them that he knows works. We know, you know, a couple years ago, Yarn Croak did look good on a top line. When he plays with some really good players, he can be a really good supporting cast. So, we’ll see how that plays out. I’m sure they’ll change things as the game goes on. Uh, but Stcher back in the lineup again. We’ll see how that plays out. So, uh, I don’t mind a lot of this. And the other thing to note, which we’ll get into more specifically in a second, Matthews skating with the group. He was an extra today, so won’t play, but he’s back skating with the group, which is really, really good news. Yeah. Robertson off of that top line which again he’s been playing really well this year and obviously for statue I think he’s going to be in for you could argue the not the rest of the year necessarily but even when healthy you could argue he has a good chance to be in there every single day so very unique moves being made here and hopefully Calarn I mean anything to get a win at this point and speaking of reinforcements coming in you can see here that both Austin Matthews and Nicholas W are on the ice early morning earliest this morning at Scotia Bank Arena and of course their Power play units are a little bit, you know, shuffled now with with Yarn Croak being the netfront guy, which is u quite the interesting turn of events considering where we were at the start of the year. But both W and Matthews are putting in extra work ahead of Lee Skate. And for W it was the first time he’s been on the ice since Saturday in Chicago. And for Matthews, it’s his third straight day skating. All of this to say, we can assume if you uh you know, based on past injuries, he’s probably going to be good to go here very soon. Awesome Matthews it is. And the same thing with with Nicholas Wall. can see here again he won’t play tonight and they were on the ice early so maybe next game maybe the game after but having him back I mean obviously right it’s Austin Matthews but also you mentioned it Scott Lton he is officially back tonight which I mean Jacob Quillin I think he looked really good he got technically demoted but I don’t think it was really as much of a demotion as it was a shuffle and Michelli I don’t hate that line playing good this team I think yes the injuries are all happening at the same time which makes things bad but you could also run into a situation where if they can get a few wins here against hopefully some weaker teams everyone’s going to get healthy around the same time and that’s something that could be good as they approach I mean not the trade deadline but it’s inching closer and closer and they have to make some uh you know adjustments there but some good news there with Austin Matthews and uh and Nick Law as well who not a lot of people are talking about. Yeah, you got to start thinking about that stuff anyway. We’re over 20 games into the season at this point. So, you know, you definitely have to start thinking about it if you’re Brad living. But some good news, but I would pump the brakes a little bit on a couple of the guys. But, uh, in including Nick Wah, I don’t think he’s going to play this weekend. Probably there’s probably not going to be a practice, uh, coming up here tomorrow because of the condensed schedule and a lot of teams are having less practice time because of it. Uh, so he’s not going to get into a practice. So, I don’t think he’s going to play. And the same thing goes for Matthews. However, he did join the group today. He was skating early by himself and Nick was on the ice on the other end of the ice. Uh but he joined the group and he was actually taking part in that. So that’s encouraging. That means that maybe he could play Saturday and I don’t know if Net Matthews necessarily needs practice time, but for a guy like Nick Wah, the fact that this is the first time he’s on the ice since Saturday. I feel like he would need a practice to get back in the lineup. So we’ll see how that plays out. Matthews, I think is just a big question mark for Saturday. Obviously not playing tonight, but he looks like he’s making his way back. But we do have another injury update on a couple other players, including Chris Tanov, whose timeline is I don’t know, which is uh discouraging for sure, but he’s still a ways away. So, we’ll see what happens with that. But Anthony Stole, too, Craig Breub spoke out on that because he is still out with an injury and no timetable for his return either. Yeah. And the running with wall like you mentioned, Hillby, he’s been good. So, I don’t know why they’re necessarily trying to want, not that they’re running wall under the ground this early, but three starts in a row is interesting there. A couple quick notes. Ruby did speak out on Matthews. It’s good to see him out there feeling a lot better. Doesn’t have a timeline for his return yet, but we’ll probably be soon. He spoke out about Anthony Stolars and said, “Worse than we thought. He’s not ready to get on the ice yet and do the things that he needs to. Hopefully soon. I don’t have a timet. We weren’t sure at the time about the seriousness of it.” So, you mentioned Chris Tanov as well, but it’s at a point now where I mean this is not ideal. Um, luckily they have a really good goalender in wall and that both injuries didn’t happen at the same time because then that would have been a big problem with Hillby being your one, which we saw for a little bit there. They overlap for a few games and a few days. Um, this is never good news and of course I’m sure we’ll get some more clarity either tonight into tomorrow and we’ll have a full video on it. But Stler being out for any significant amount of time hinders things a little bit. That being said, he wasn’t great anyway this year. Maybe it’s because of the injury. Maybe it’s because of his it by far has been his biggest wor work workload over the past two years combined. But now you have Joseph Wall who I also don’t want the Leafs to overwork him and maybe that’s why the injury happened to Stallers. You can never really speculate on those things but I wouldn’t mind seeing Hillbe get in there because of how good he’s performed this year at least relative to expectations and relative to last year. But yeah no setback but at the same time they just didn’t know initially I guess what the severity of the injury was meaning he’s going to be out for I mean we assume at least another week or so. Yeah. A little bit. Still at this point there’s no timetable for his return. And you know, you have to prepare for life without him right now, right? And you have two very capable goalenders and thank goodness Joseph Wool is back. And it’s very interesting because you mentioned, you know, why wouldn’t you save Joseph Wool? And I think that’s an interesting point heading into tonight’s game. Why wouldn’t you put Hild to be in net for this one and then give Wool a bit of a rest and have him for the Montreal Canadians on Saturday. Uh to me, I think Hillby sees the Blue Jackets in his nightmares, right? If you remember back to last year. So maybe that’s why you wanted to avoid that situation. But I would imagine Wolves going to go again on Saturday against the Canadians. So now they’re just, you know, running guys until they can’t run anymore, which could be a problem because of Stolars’s injury. And I’m not saying it was necessarily related, but, you know, Brad Living in his press conference did come out and say that could be a factor, right, that he was playing so much hockey to start the year. Maybe that’s why he got injured, which is, you know, discouraging. So it’s very interesting. They’re running with Wool again. I think you have to go back to him again Saturday. Beyond that, we’ll see what happens. But I feel like this could have been an interesting opportunity to see Hilde again for him to get revenge on the Blue Jackets as well because he has been playing well and Joseph Wall has the opportunity now to become uh the Leafs goalender with a winning record this year besides Kaden Primo which is not the greatest news either. So uh we’ll see how tonight goes but a big opportunity I think for a lot of these guys and you have a couple Lions back together that you know have played well and played together recently. Yeah, and it’s almost like at the start of the year we thought Solars could run away with the job. Now Wall could run away with it to a degree. And let us know down below what your thoughts are. And again, Matthews nearing a return here soon, so it’s going to be excited. But again, no timeline specifically for Matthew. So they’re going to hold that out. At least it’s better than last year where they’d give daytoday and then be out for months. But that’ll wrap it up. Thank you guys for watching. She wear.
