🚨New York Jets QB Plan REVEALED via ESPN
[Music] Yo, what’s going on everybody? Thank you guys so much for tuning in to today’s edition of the Jets Report by Chad Sports. My name is Patrick Seman and coming up on today’s show, we’ll be diving into ESPN’s latest 2026 NFL mock draft. And they had the Jets trading up to the number one overall selection. So, could they be potentially leaking the Jets uh draft plans here on today’s show? Well, we’re going to talk about it. And let’s start off with Matt Miller here discussing what it would take for the Jets to trade up to number one with the Titans. They armed with two first round picks and additional second round pick in 2026 thanks to the deadline trades of quarterback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnon Williams. The Jets are moving up to Tennessee spot at the number one pick in the spot draft. Since the Titans use their 2025 number one pick on quarterback Cam Ward, they could be persuaded to move down and accumulate draft capital to build around their young quarterback in this deal. The Jets would send both of their first round picks, number 28 and number four. This is where just the Colts and Jets are slotted right now and their 2027 second round pick to the Titans for the top selection. And you know, it does sound like a lot on paper to only be moving up three picks. He’s given up two first rounders and a second round pick, but that’s fair trade value to go land the number one overall selection. You’re going to have to probably attach another first round pick, even if you’re at pick number three. But right now, with the Jets slated to have the fourth overall pick, you’re going to have to send four 28 and a future second round pick to land the number one selection. But I ask you guys this, would you accept this trade? Give me an A for accept or give me a D for decline. If there’s a quarterback you love enough, would you trade up the number one and attach an extra first and a 2027 second round pick? Give me an A for accept or give me a D for decline. No, I’m doing this deal in a heartbeat. If you love one of the quarterbacks, because that’s the biggest question mark because if you don’t love any of the quarterbacks, okay, cool. Sit where you’re at. Build a good team and then you try to go get that quarterback the following off seasonason. But this is also fair trade value. Now, I do think there’s a chance that the Colts pick ends up being closer to 20 compared to 32. So, let’s just say if this is, you know, Jets have the third pick and the Colts have the 22nd pick. I think you could just attach both those first to land the number one overall selection. would even have to include an extra second round pick there. But if that’s the trade where Jets are four, Colts are at 28, I think this is fair trade value to go up and select, how about Fernando Mendoza? That’s who ESPN had the Jets selecting. The quarterback out of Indiana. If you guys have been watching the show for the past couple weeks, I’m a massive fan of his game. He’s got a swagger. He’s got an intensity about him. He’s got a moxy about him that I really like. And he also throws a hell of good football as well. But listen, this comes down to if the Jets are going to, you know, love Fernando Mendoza or if it’s guy like Tai Simpson as well. Just comes down to if they fully believe that that guy they’re selecting is going to be the franchise quarterback. Because if he’s the franchise quarterback, who cares about that extra first? Who cares about that extra second round pick you’re attaching when you get that quarterback right, it makes everything else, all those other problems, you know, it’s kind of get swept under the rug a little bit. But Matt Miller said this to say on the Jets drafting Fernando Mendoza saying general manager Darren Muji didn’t load up on draft capital by trading away Gardner and Williams to watch teams pick quarterbacks ahead of him. So I had the Jets aggressively move up for Mendoza, a pocket passer with great touch and timing who can carve up a defense with surgical accuracy while providing enough mobility to execute on the move. Mendoza might not be in the Caleb Williams class in terms of top quarterback prospects over the past five years, but he’s the best in this class, and the Jets have to take a swing at the position. Justin Fields was just benched, and Tyrod Taylor isn’t the long-term answer. Mendoza’s 30 touchdown passes through five interceptions shows how careful he is with the football. And, you know, I’m a massive fan of Mendoza. He’s just a dog and he does, you know, make some big time throws, but he is one of those guys where I just feel like he’s always going to make the right read. He’s always going to take what the defense is giving to him. And I think that archetype of quarterback is what Darren Muji and Tanner Angstrad would like in terms of a guy they want to run the offense. Kind of similar to Jared Goff. Got more mobility than Goff. Doesn’t necessarily have as big of an arm as golf has. I think people kind of sleep on how big G’s arm was coming out of college. Um but Mendoza, he is surgical. And what I love his turnover worthy play percentage this year is only at 1.8%. and his big-time throw percentage isn’t like, you know, top 20 30 in the country, but it’s still top 50 at 5.3%. And his A dot 9.2 average uh yards per uh target there. And then also um his adjusting completion percentage at 80.4 and his average time to throw 2.62. So, he’s getting the ball out quick and he’s making accurate reads um when he is doing that. So, I’ll ask you guys that uh this. What say you? Would you draft Fernando Mendoza? Give me a Y for yes, give me an N for no down below in the comments section. Now, coming up, I do want to explain to you guys why I don’t really feel like this is too too likely in terms of the Jets trading up for the quarterback. So, I’ll share with you guys my thoughts on that in a second. But today’s episode is brought to you guys by Prize Picks. The hard-hitting football action is even better with Prize Picks. And the biggest reason for this is they have fully acknowledge that the Jets roster has way too many holes to maybe be ultra aggressive in trading up for a quarterback this year. And also, you’d want that quarterback to come into a good foundation, a good team. Now, I do think the Jets offensively do have the bones already in place to be a good support system for a young quarterback because you got the two tackles, you have a good run game, you got that superstar wide receiver and Garrett Wilson. Now, you wouldn’t have an elite second pass catching option, especially if you give up that extra second round pick. But also, that second round pick you’re giving up is in 2027. So, you would still have your own second and the Cowboys second to potentially go get a wide receiver. But I could just see Aaron Glenn and Daram Muji taking the route of, hey, we’re going to build out a very complete roster first and then once we are ready, we’ll go land that quarterback in 2027. But the only issue with this is there are really no good stop gap options. And you know, that’s why free agency this year, the best option is probably Marcus Mariota. So, it really is like the Jets are just in a tough spot because obviously they need to go get that young quarterback, but also if they don’t love a guy, are you willing to give up all this draft capital and a weaker quarterback draft class? So, they’re just in a tough spot with this quarterback position. Plus, how many holes are on the roster? Um, but again, it all comes down to getting the quarterback right. Like, if you truly love Mendoza, if you truly love Tai Simpson, if you love even Lenora Sers, any of these quarterbacks that are coming out, you do what you can to go land that guy. And I am in the spot right now with the Jets where if you just get the quarterback right, all the other holes on the roster will kind of be masked a little bit. You can sweep them under the rug because we’ve seen it with Drake man. The Patriots like Patriots do they have a fantastic roster top to bottom? Not necessarily. But with the how good the quarterback play has been, you don’t aren’t really talking about it. That’s why they’re nine and two. That’s why they’re looking like they’re going to be a problem in the AFC East for the next decade or even more than that. So it comes down to getting the quarterback right. Again, it’s a lot to give up, but if you love the guy, who the hell cares? Who cares about that second round pick? Who cares about that extra first? Because you’ll have a franchise quarterback that’ll be selling a lot of Jets jerseys. Um hopefully it ends up working out. We’ll see. See what happens. But you guys let me know, will the Jets draft a quarterback? Give me a D for draft. Give me a P for pass. You guys let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. oh hell no, D all day

The Jets need to learn to tank because they would have to give up picks in order to move up. Why win another game? To prove what? Lose out, be smart, guys. This isn't rocket science 🙄
No way forget it
D,D,D, all day long. Not for one of these QBs. This whole video will be moot because the Jets might earn the #1 pick.
I think they draft AND get a free agent. Get them both signed quickly and into Florham Pak and working with the coaches . So from May to August you have trust between everyone and everyone is on the same page.
At this point, even though I like Mendoza ever so slightly over Simpson , I'd be happy with either. If you'd like a Simpson comparison, he reminds me somewhat (showing my age here) of Richard Todd. A little bit more efficient , but similar. Todd had Wesley Walker and Al Toon to throw to. Jets now need to get another WR to compliment Garrett Wilson. If they don't, his career will be short lived with injuries, as teams keep beating him up.

Don't trade with the NY Giants. Mr Mara and GM Joe Schoen wants an arm and a leg to trade their top 1st round draft pick to anyone. I don't want the NY Jets in that predicament in the 2026 NFL draft.
D!
D
Pass
I almost feel like we should start our second string get them more reps and depth tank for next season have the 1st overall pick give up nothing and start off new at the draft with all of our picks
D for decline
Mendoza is the guy!
Get Mac jones and two safeties in the first round this year. Then get corners in the later rounds
Hell no !!
Hell no
I would not give up all of that to get MENDOZA are you kidding me thats why you are the JETS
