Not only that, 5 of the 25 never played football again. With these stats in mind, why are many of you so eager for Burrow to return week 12 of a throwaway season? No chance he’s working at 100% even if he “looks healthy”, no need to rush a quarterback who has already lost 3 of his 6 seasons due to health reasons, especially coming off a bad toe injury and a bad O-line.

  1. Nothing we say or do will change the organization or Joe’s mind so it just is what it is. We know his issues with injuries and what the record is and how the OL is and what the defense is awful at.

Idk that anyone is eager to see him rush back but if he’s going to play, we’re going to cheer for him. He’s a competitor.

  2. It’s just as stupid to proclaim he isn’t healthy as it is for some to say he is.

Only Joe Burrow and his doctor should be making decisions about him playing.

  3. Our o-line was 13th in pass protection last week.

Ships are safest in the harbor, but that’s not what they’re built for.

It’s Burrow’s career. I trust him and his doctors to know what he’s capable of, and not.

  4. Let alone him being back early without chase on the field like what’re we setting ourselves up for

  5. This keeps being posted but to me this is a flawed comparison. Context matters greatly for an injury like this. How many of those players that never played again were fringe guys, where any major injury would be the nail in the coffin for their career? Or were already in the twilight of their careers, and turf toe was just the final sign that it’s time?

Also, different positions will have different levels of physical stress placed on the ligament. I’m sure a quarterback can play his position effectively putting less stress on the ligament, while a wide receiver can’t really get away with trying to play while avoiding putting stress on that ligament.

Now, I think the cons of Joe returning this year far outweigh the pros. But I hate seeing this study cited without discussing the limitations of the comparison as well.

  6. He’s not 100%. Plan and simple. Burrow is maniacal and wants to play, Zac Taylor wants him to play to save his job, and Mike brown wants him to play to sell tickets.

This is a perfect storm for getting him hurt again and damaging his 2026 season before it even starts.

  7. So in a 17 year period that inexplicably ended 8 years ago, a statistically insignificant sample suggests he shouldn’t come back? Why are they wasting money on doctors when we have all the info we need on Reddit?

  8. Joe Burrow doesn’t need a babysitter. Everyone can calm down and let him make his own decisions. He’s a professional football player and knows much better than you do what the health aspects of that are.

  9. Because I’m not a doctor and if the doctors say he can play football then I’m fine with him playing football.
