Jeff Blashill on the missed penalty on Bedard’s breakaway

  1. This is good coaching. Instead of blaming your player and trying to look “professional”, you stick up for your player.

  2. Great response. Refs needs to be called out more, and any good organizations should be willing to pay any fines that ever come their coaches/players way.

  3. You know what happens when you have your players’ back? They will play their ass off for you, and the word travels to others in the league. It matters.

  4. The only supposedly naughty word I saw was Bedard saying “bullshit”. No way in hell that’s enough for the ref to give Seattle a win. What a joke. At least we’ll get a video out of that lip reading voice over guy on YouTube

  5. Guys. Glass half full. This needed to happen. Watch the way the boys play for Blash in the next game. This is a defining moment of their group.

I think it’s the Sabres? Good luck to them!

  6. Kudos to da coach. You expect the unsportsmanlike chirping penalty to be given in beer league, not at the highest level of hockey. I’m having a hard time remembering the last time I saw it in an NHL game.

  7. Whilst I agree with the guy, I hope this doesn’t turn out like Montreal, where they didn’t get like any calls for the next week

  8. It’s not about what was said it was about how much was said. Yes, the ref missed the call but at the end of the day you don’t get to chirp him for as long as Bedard did. He’s lucky he didn’t get the penalty when he skated to the corner and got in the refs face. You have to have a little more pose in that situation. Bedard did that last year and it isn’t a good look. You hurt your team. He got his point in right away but then kept running his mouth like a child. He’ll need to get better with his pose if he is going to be the leader of this team.

  9. I am so happy to have been wrong about the Blashill hire. He has been proving himself and then some.

  10. It was a blatant missed call but why is no one giving Bedard shit for stopping to talk to the ref while the puck is in play and the clock is running? Chirp and skate at the same time. Let’s see a backcheck
