Hey u/dudewithchronicpain I’m sorry to inform you that you are no longer allowed to miss any more games this season
Can’t win em all and its a busy month of hockey. Hopefully we recover tomorrow 🙏
Still first in the Atlantic 😎
Let’s hope that was the worst loss of the season. We just looked bad out there. We gave them so many opportunities and they really jumped on them
Frustrating loss last night. I don’t mind the kids losing and growing as a team. But i don’t enjoy seeing the entire team take the night off and mail it in. Atleast lose a close game.
Never have I been so frustrated with a team that was first in the division
Thank god for Cam Talbot
If only they can send Gibber down to GR for a stint without getting picked up by anutter team
We have the best goalie not in the NHL, Steve its time.
Losing happens and it sucks but did it really have to be 5-0?
I can’t wait for Lombardi, Cossa and Mazur to get into the lineup at some point this season and MBN, Buchelnikov next season and to watch Postava’s development and results in Grand Rapids this season.
I still get super excited for each Wings game.
Slowly all of the dead weight will be off this team 2 years from now or maybe even sooner if Yzerman has an opportunity to move them or if he just becomes flat out sick & tired of them and gets rid of them; even if it costs the organization something.
I couldn’t watch last night (glad about it) just listened at times. Was Gibson really awful or our defense really awful or both.
Is it time to think about giving Cossa a look?
Compher when answering questions post game was mentioning how their “B” game needs to be better…wow. If there’s anyone else in that locker room that even has time for the concept of a “B” game, get them out now. That is a symptom of a losing mentality right there. Winning teams all play in a singular way, it just so happens to be robust and adaptable in response to adversity on any given night. “B” game? Get that shit the fuck out of hockeytown
Last night was…rough. Wings still looking ok standings wise but what a tight race still. Hopefully they can get a string of wins coming up. They can’t get trounced like that too often…
Plus side: Kasper “fight” and some grit starting to show vs last year around the team.
TGIF.
Did Kasper drop the mitts last night? What happened
It seems like I made the right decision since went to bed after the first period last night. Did Kasper win his fight?
A lot of people blaming Gibson. I don’t think that’s really fair. Compher got stoned on a point blank play within the first minute of the game. Gibson made a HUGE save on the pk with Palmieri on the doorstep. Appleton walked out front and couldn’t tuck it. All within the first five minutes. 0-0. We got behind the 8 ball after we made a shit line change. 1-0. Then Larkin fires one off the goal post. NYI second goal was tipped by ASP (?) 2-0. Breakaway chance by Raymo 3 minutes into 2nd. Stuffed. Drouin shot tipped by Kasper (?). 3-0. We didn’t take advantage of our early chances when we had them. A bad line change by Kasper and Kane, Sorokin, and bad luck did us in.
Anyone notice the guys being more physical in the last 10 minutes or so? That’s how they need to play against these “finesse” teams.
We should be seeing Cossa very soon. Talbot has played his way in to being a massive trade deadline chip, and the goalie market is non existent. Edmonton may very well be forced in to overpaying for a goalie to keep McDavid in town after his current contract ends, even if that means praying Talbot can do something with the rest of this year. That said, we need to establish if we’re for real and can make playoffs, and if we can, can we do it without him. Cossa should probably make some NHL starts before end of year, even if means carrying 3 goalies for a couple weeks. Talbot is in the last year of his deal anyway, and Gibson has shown that him and Cossa are probably not going to be a 1A/1B kind of situation. Lots to think about in the immediate future of the Wings net.
This team has got to figure out a way to get Gibson going. I know that a lot of the goals last night were awkward deflections off our own guys that a lot of goalies would have trouble stopping, but this team lives or dies by the vibes on the ice, and faith in the goaltender is a big part of that.
I don’t think bringing Cossa up is a good solution right now. He’s setting the AHL on fire and that is great for his confidence, so I don’t think it’s a good idea to disrupt that. Plus, next year, Gibson is the only goalie we have on the books outside of our prospects. If it’s gonna be him and Cossa next year, we need Gibby to be ready to play. If Cossa comes in and claims the starter’s net for himself, that’s one thing, but we can’t expect him to join the team next year and have 50 starts right out of the gate. I’ve seen the bad ending to that story with young goalies before.
We don’t need Gibby to be some world beater either, we just need him to be as good as Talbot or Lyon were last year. This team with last year’s goaltending makes the playoffs.
