RINK WIDE POST-GAME: Vancouver Canucks vs Dallas Stars | Game #22 – Nov. 20, 2025
Canucks played hard but came up short in a 4-2 loss to the Dallas Stars. We’re breaking it down on Rinkwide Vancouver. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] We welcome you inside the Pacific Toyota dealer studios. Visit shop toyota.ca or your local Pacific Toyota dealer. Today the Dallas Stars defeat the Vancouver Conucks by a score of 4 to2. It’s rinkwide Vancouver. It’s brought to you in part by Vet 365. I am Jeff. He is Earthf. And I got nothing nothing to carve the Canucks about in terms of the effort. Earthf. uh they looked like a completely different team uh defensively than they did out on the road trip where they gave up shots and shot attempts and ultimately goals galore. Uh but in the end uh they come up on the wrong end of the scoreboard here and they lose for the second time in a row. um that’s now a 911 and two hockey club and so they fall a little further behind that uh National Hockey League 500 mark and so it’s sort of a double-edged sword because they like a lot of what you see on a night like tonight but in the end not good enough to defeat the Stars. Nope, definitely not good enough. They had their chances the minute 20 of power play time. We’re going to talk about that or sorry two man advantage time. We’re definitely going to talk about that. But, um, yeah, just, you know, you can’t say not good enough because they were good enough and it’s unfortunate because in a game that they were bad against the Florida Panthers, they got what they deserve, but in this one they definitely didn’t. Yeah. And there was a lot to like individually, collectively, but you’re right, if you boil it down, like they they win the special teams battle, they score the only power play goal of the night, but you’re sitting here banging the desk and saying they needed another one. And maybe that’s getting greedy, but the Conucks had a 5-2 power play advantage. And this power play is heating up. As we said, they already had one. Elias Patterson gets his seventh of the year, ties the game at two late in the first period. Uh, and at that point, I mean, goals were going in all over the place. I was thinking, are we in for another 85? And then it kind of settled down. There was no scoring in the second period. And unfortunately for the Canucks, the only goals in the third come off the stick of Colin Blackwell, his second of the year. that turns out to be the gamewinner midway through the third period. And Mo Rantin, who had been silent, aside from a slashing penalty in the first period, and at one point I leaned to you and I said, “I ain’t got an uneasy feeling that that guy’s just been too quiet tonight.” Well, he made some noise with a minute and a half to go to seal the deal. The spinning backhander. Brock is still looking for him. And Lincoln is still looking for that puck that just whistled under the crossbar that he got everything on the backhander there. And goal scorers do that. At the end of the night, Robertson gets his 12th of the year. Ranton gets his 10th. Alias Patterson did score for the Vancouver Conucks, but uh they needed something else from somebody else. And the Stars differencemaker stepped up and ultimately were able to push this one in their favor. Yeah, Miko Ranton is absurd when he gets going and you like you said, you know, you’re you were kind of worried that Miko Ranton hadn’t done anything and the one thing that he really did was turn Brock inside out and was able to confuse Kevin Lankin in a little bit, but there very few players that can do what he did in the National Hockey League. Obviously, you mentioned Robertson who came in just scorching hot and continues that. Um, the Dallas Stars are a tough team to beat. The Canucks had every opportunity to do that and you mentioned the banging on the desk being like they needed another one. That’s the next step of evolution in this team. Can they get another one? Can they put a team in a away in a game that they are controlling? Yeah. Can they win another game on home ice this season? That too becoming a bit of a concern as it was last year where the Canucks struggled with 17 wins in 41 games. Now it’s three wins in this their 10th home game of the season. 36 and one on home ice. But it goes even deeper than that that there’s three wins, but only two of them in regulation time, one against the Edmonton Oilers in OT. Like you’ll take the victories here, but um that means eight of 10 opponents have left Rogers Arena with something. And it does feel like a pretty easy place for opponents just to roll into town, do their thing, get their points, and head on out. So the Dallas Stars certainly in that category. Stars have been terrific on the road. They have one outright road loss all season long that came in St. Lewis a month ago and otherwise they’ve been collecting points everywhere that they go. What do you make of a game like this one? We’ll continue to break it down. You’re going to hear our thoughts, but fully interactive here at Rinquid and we want to hear from you and we’ll certainly pull from the chat as well. But you know how it works to get your thoughts and your comments read pushed to the top of the queue. Bring it with a super chat. Our charity partner this season, the BC Mental Health Foundation, changing the face of mental health and addiction by supporting breakthroughs in care, public understanding, research, and knowledge exchange, and justice coming with a super chat right off the hop here. Appreciate that. My boy and favorite player, Brocky Bu is a good 2C option. Then there’s a question mark. Honestly, played good and got goalie. It happens. Trade Kane, please. I’m over it. Go fave Besser. Uh Brock was like literally leaning into the slap shot tonight. Had four shots on goal, five attempts, and a bunch of them came like the big wind up. You don’t see that from him that often, but uh seemed to be feeling it and getting a fair bit on some of his shots. Uh as we break down individual performances, Jake De Brusk had six shots on goal. U Peterson with six shots on 10 attempts and a season high 24 minutes and 43 seconds of ice time. I’m not sure he came off the ice in the final three minutes. I’d have to go check the the game log there. And they jacked their shot total in the final 90 seconds after the rant and goal. They applied some pressure and had a couple of opportunities. Uh but another nice night for Leas Person. Like when I look up and down this lineup, hard to point a finger at him. Uh and these are the types of numbers you want to see from EP 40. The maybe not playing almost 25 minutes, but shouldering a heavy workload there. But I love the six shots on 10 attempts. Like there haven’t been nearly enough nights that have been anywhere close to that. So again, is this an isolation? Is this a one-off? We won’t know until he steps back on the ice on Sunday. But I I hope that that’s an encouraging sign for him individually and the team get the puck on his stick. But I say all of that, we didn’t see the one-time and the five on three didn’t ever once put the puck in his wheelhouse. No. And that that was the problem with the five onre is they didn’t look for their best shooter. You know, they looked off Brock a couple times, Quinn Hughes took a couple of shots, hit some guys in front, but not one time on a five on three did they find the way to get Elias Person the puck. And that’s on scheme and things like that. And you know, they’re going to want to work on that. But on an individual performance, I thought Elias Patterson was very good. He has been good obviously continuing his point streak throughout these last five or six games. Um where he’s where he’s been racking up points. He’s been one of their better players night in and night out. And that’s what we want to sit here and talk about, not where is Elias Patterson or what happened. It’s why aren’t guys getting him the puck when he’s feeling it. And I think that that for, you know, the Vancouver Conucks, they’re going to go look at their tape here on on the power play and see kind of what went wrong in that minute and 20 seconds of five on three action. And I’ll tell you what went wrong. You didn’t get your best player of the puck. Yeah, that part was strange. That didn’t make a lot of sense to me. He played the final 91 seconds after the rant and goal didn’t come off the ice and prior to that uh was off the ice for 24 seconds and had a 42 second shift. So of the final basically 2 and a half minutes he played all but 20 seconds. So not too far off about playing the final three minutes of the hockey game. Again, the effort was there and on his goal, originally credited to De Brusk, and I think we all would have bought that it was Jake De Brusk goal because it looked like a Jake De Brusk goal uh in the blue paint jamming at the park, but replay showed that yeah, uh EP40 gets his stick on it. But before that, I I liked the buildup to that goal that Alias Person attacks the net from the side. Like Dallas, I think was shading to Quinn Hughes because so much of the power play runs through Quinn Hughes. But if teams are going to do that and pull themselves out of position, then I love that that Elias Patterson can attack the net from that side and that’s how that whole sequence starts. Gets the puck to the net. He’s jamming away at it. De Bruss jamming away at it. Auter’s down. Thinks he’s got his pad, but uh puck was loose enough. And so, um, you know, I I tweeted this at one point, and again, it’s hard to sit here and praise the power play that failed in absolute crunch time, but it did score. Scored the they scored and Dallas didn’t. Um, I thought Quinn Hughes distributed the puck beautifully tonight where and like Adam Foot hinted at this that even a few weeks ago, Quinn was guilty of trying to do too much. And I understand it. He’s the best player on their team. He’s had success doing a lot of the things that he was doing. It wasn’t necessarily working for him and the hockey club, but again, teams pay attention to him. That means that there are going to be guys that are open. And I thought Quinn did a way better job of getting the puck, whether it was Brock or Elias Patterson or Connor Garland, whoever, and then from there, they’re able to create. Quinn will still get his points and he can still feel like he’s a huge part of the power play, but instead of him taking the puck up at the top and, you know, driving down, circling the net, holding on, um, that hadn’t necessarily been working for him the way that it has, um, and so I just I I say that he distributed the puck well. you know, he still had nine shot attempts himself. So, it wasn’t like he was passing up shooting options, but I thought on the power play, uh, he was doing a better job of using those around him. And ultimately, the Canucks did like they had 12 power play shots on goal. So, process pretty damn good. Yeah. Execution not quite where it had to be. I think Elias Person, I mean, maybe Kucks want to take a page, a little bit of a page out of the Oilers book on that power play. And you know how you mentioned Person kind of attacking the net there down low. You know who does that at a really really high level is Leon Dryidle in that spot in that right side of the net kind of right at the goal line but floats up a little bit can get that one timer off from almost anywhere. Elias Person can can do that as well. They just got to find a way to get the guy the puck right and you know you want to see him crashing and banging and get those goals. Jake De Brusk is that guy. He’s the guy there for that. He’s gonna was it eight power play goals now for for Jake De Brus this season. All of them, I think, are in and around the blue paint area. Well, it was eight until they took that one away from Sorry. Yes. But he and that’s the other thing. Jake De Bruss got an assist in this hockey game. That’s something I’ve been charting here for a while. I mean, I say it in just although it is kind of weird that he went 19 games uh between helpers when you play on that first unit power play when you are a top minute guy for the most part. I know he’s been moved around the lineup a little bit, but uh whatever the case, he gets the assist there and EP 40 gets his seventh of the season that tied the game at two with five and a half minutes to go in the first period. Uh another super chat again, appreciate the sport. So does the BC Mental Health Foundation. This one caffeine goes in face. Sure. Uh I thought it was a great game. Also maybe the first game in two years. I thought EP40 looked better than Hughes. They play that game each night. I have faith. And that’s why I say process here was really good. Um although at one point in the third period the shots were 9 to4 for Dallas. And we know that third periods have been an issue for the Canucks even the other night in Florida when they tied the game at five. You know kind of let up and Florida took over again. Um I mean the shots end up 10-10 in the third period and we talked about the frantic finish for the Canucks there. I didn’t feel as as much as like that second period might be as good and I know they scored five in the third the other day in Tampa. They got bounces. They didn’t get great goalending on the other side. I I thought territorially that second period tonight aided by some power plays, but I I thought might have been the best that the Conucks have looked in terms of the amount of zone time they had, the pressure that they applied. They outshot Dallas 15-6. And that’s where you tip your cat to Jakeer. He was terrific, particularly in the middle period there. And in fact, uh, let’s get to the three stars because figures in them pretty prominently the three stars as always here on Rink, a presentation of Greta Bar. Looking for a great place to have a good time? Greta’s got you covered. Fun staff, terrific atmosphere. You walk through the front door and immediately you know that you are somewhere special with all the arcade games, all the big screens to watch all the games on TV. If you’re hungry, Greta is the place to be. Incredible street food menu weekly and game day drink specials, too. We always have fun there with our Conucks Army watch parties, and I know you’ll have a good time as well. Greta Bar, YVR, it’s the place to be. 50 West Cordova. Let the games begin. Three stars in the building. Jay Cottinger, Elias Patterson, and Jason Robertson. Well, how about that? We got the same three, just a slight swapping of the order. Auter was terrific. Um, you know, we talk about the five on three, had to make some big saves there. Uh, Connor Garland off the rush where he couldn’t quite catch up to the puck and they chased it down. Wheeled around shot, goes out the other side. Alias Person with that shot ander like a puppet show like he he made the save with the inside of his his blocker. Yeah. Um, and then maybe his best save and I would suggest his most important save, Petey point blank on the power play early in the third in a two- all tie. And I think Pety picked his spot and just got his leg out and made the save. Uh, a terrific stop there and truly a game saver as it turned out. So, hats off Jake when he’s on. One of the best in the business, no question. And unfortunately for the Canucks, they saw that, learned it the hard way. Jason Robertson, as hot as anybody in hockey, came in as the first star of the week in the National Hockey League and just hasn’t let up. This guy, he had eight goals in the last five games. And then he adds to that with a 2-1 goal. Put Dallas in front, a lead that they wouldn’t relinquish even though the game was tied, but um bit sloppy were the Canucks defensively. And there was Robertson in the wrong guy able to take advantage and just whistle the shot under the crossbar. Uh he’s feeling it these days. He’s up to 12 goals. So uh yeah, not a surprise that uh uh he had a factor or played a factor in this hockey game. Uh three shots on goal he scores on one of them. He had a post as well at one point. Um and then he had that chant at 22. How did he miss that opportunity that was just sitting there at the top of the blue paint and didn’t quite get enough on it? Then let’s give Phil Heronic some credit because he swooped in and uh did stop the second opportunity. But Jason Robertson, as he often is, just around the puck a lot in this hockey game. He’s the second star. And there’s Elias Patterson, the best of the bunch for the Vancouver Conucks in a losing cause. And we went through his night. And so again, hopefully a step in the right direction by the notion they got goalied. Uh because that’s what a lot of the people in our social spaces are saying. Yeah, a little bit to a degree. I mean, I’ve seen better goalending performances, but a big-time puck stopper, made some big time saves, and that’s what he’s paid to do. And um, you know, Kevin Lankan made some saves at the other end. It was an entertaining game at 2-2 and it was hanging in the balance there till the middle stages of the uh third period. And you know, if the conductive will pull it out, I think we looked at Lankin and said, “Hey, there were some stops in there as well that uh that he made that, you know, we got to talk about I do want to talk about his play on the very first goal of this hockey game was bizarre.” But, uh, as we move off the three stars, want to get back to another super chat from Justice who’s bringing it tonight and we appreciate that. Says he’s going to be at the Detroit game traveling from Thunder Bay and he apologizes in advance for the L. He says, “I have never seen the Canucks win in person. Hope to be engaged on the trip as well. Letting the cat out of the bag perhaps there. Yeah, going to be engaged as the Mrs. Mrs. to be watching listening to Rink. I want to break any news here for her. Wanted that to be a a surprise. Got to pop that question. Um or maybe he hopes to be engaged in the game like like the Conucks were. Oh, is that what he means? I I don’t really don’t know. We need some clarification. The way I read it the first time, I thought we were going to get a marriage proposal, but now I see maybe it is. the civil he just he wants to be invested in this game. Who knows where it goes. Justice, help us out. Bring another super chat and clarify uh for us. I I don’t want to be speaking out of turn here if you know you may have three or four girlfriends on the go. I I have no idea what’s going on in your personal life and maybe I shouldn’t uh want to know uh either. All right. Um when I I look at I mean let’s go back to the start of the hockey game. Earliest goal against uh for the Conucks this season, Dylan Holloway in St. Louis was three and change. This is 55 seconds in. And for a team that was a complete fire drill in Florida the other night, this was not the way to sort of instill confidence in your fan base that you had sorted things out even with a a practice day and a an optional morning skate. Uh off the rush, Maverick Bourke with the shot. Langan made a terrific save and that’s when trouble began. He’s on the seat of his pants. Probably should have been called for or would have been called for playing the puck in the trapezoid, but as he tries to pull it in. Uh he’s not fully settled. Puck goes right under his leg out the other side. And then a bunch of Canucks standing around. Tyler Myers basically in the net. Um but unfortunately so was the puck and Maverick Bour gets his third of the year. Two of them coming against the Vancouver Conucks. Uh yeah. Uh it got better for the Conucks. the Knight did in their own zone, but a bit of an auspicious start to the hockey game. Yeah, it was really weird to kind of see how it all played out cuz he made a great save to start it. Couldn’t handle it. I think Kevin Lankin had a little bit of trouble handling the puck a little bit today. It kind of looked like pucks were getting by him, squeaking by a little bit. There’s one that came off the boards weird. It hit him and he tried to glove it down and he couldn’t do that either. Um, rebound control was good, but it was the the other stuff there that that was kind of a little bit maybe the puck was bouncing in weird ways here uh at Rogers Arena, but yeah, I the first one was was pretty funny. He probably would have got called for. Referee was on the other side though, so not entirely sure if he would have had a good angle, but um yeah, unfortunately the Conucks went down one- nothing pretty early into the hockey game. Do we do we see this as something that they can build off? Like the Dallas Stars are built to win now. And I I didn’t think the Stars played all that well for 60 minutes, but in spurts and at moments their top players did. But I want to give Conucks credit because I I thought defensively uh the Conucks just they outside of that opening minute, I I thought they found some of that structure that Adam Foot has been harping on and preaching and uh they’re at home. They were able to dictate the matchups a little bit. used David Camp as uh essentially the matchup guy to free up Elias Patterson. And as we talked about with all the shot attempts, you know, I think there was something there. Uh in the third period, we saw foot shake his lines up a little bit in a two two tie. Uh I think looking like David Camp at that stage probably isn’t the guy you’re looking to to to break the tie. There isn’t a whole lot of offense in his game, although he did have a short-handed opportunity in the first period where he held on on a twoon-one and uh fired it just wide. But it was a pretty good look coming down the right side. Um, whatever the case, Atu Ratu got a chance in that third period primarily to play um I think De Brusk was on one side and Besser was on the other. They kind of rolled through uh as Adam Foot tightened his bench and especially when they fell behind three to2 then he really shortened his bench. But all things considered again there was you could see some defensive structure in this hockey game that really wasn’t there for the most part on the road trip. It is a losing cause though. So, are we in moral victory territory here, silver lining, or do you think there was something here that they can carry forward? I mean, you hope there is. The fact of the matter is they lost a hockey game and fail and they’re what? They have two regulation wins on home ice this season like that. That’s not good. Are they a good enough team to go on a run here and win, you know, seven of eight or win nine of 13 games? I’m not entirely sure. I think it’s really one game at a time with this group. I don’t think they’re built that way. if I’m being completely honest. Um, but what you saw from Elias Patterson, what you saw from Quinn Hughes, like that’s good. That that’s what you want to see. You want to see Elias Patterson looking engaged. You want to see Elias Person firing the puck and and demanding it and being the best player on the ice for the Vancouver Conucks. Um, moral victories aren’t going to get you really anything in the National Hockey League. And, you know, the Canucks find themselves we’re a week away from American Thanksgiving now. And you know, we’re going to have we’re going to take a hard look at the standings next week when when when you and I uh do the show, but are they a team that can go on a run? And I’m not entirely sure they are built for that. This game, they probably could have fared a little bit better, but important parts of games are special teams and their special teams wasn’t good enough. Good teams score power play goals, right? Good. Like look at the Colorado Avalanche. You look at teams that teams that are going to go there. They have opportunities on a two-on-one. They’re probably or sorry, a two-man advantage. They’re probably not making those types of mistakes. So, um, great building block, I guess, if you want to say, for the Vancouver Conucks, but you take this, you better not lose to Calgary on Sunday, like like you have to win that game. Yeah. And I was on convo earlier in the week, and we were talking primarily about Dallas, but I I said to those guys as I I concluded that like remember the heat in this market after they lost to the Blackhawks. Mhm. That’s where the rebuild talk like absolutely became a firestorm and then it sort of died off a little bit. They beat Columbus, then they went out on the road and um if they lose to Calgary on Sunday night, the Flames play the night before against this Dallas team. So, it’s back to back for Calgary coming in here. Second time this year that the Conucks have welcomed the Flames on the back end of backto-backs. If they lose that one, there aren’t many teams behind the Canucks in the overall standings. Calgary is one of them. If they lose that one, I think if you thought that the rebuild noise was loud 10 days ago, it’ll go to another level. And I also think like you and I sit here and do this quite often, this is probably one of their better, if not the best games that they have played this season. And we’re still here talking about an L. Yep. No, you’re right. And that at the end of the day, it’s a bottom line business. Have you won enough? No. They have nine victories now in 22 games. And we’ve talked about the fact that regulation victories have been few and far between for this hockey club. Hey, Justice followed up. Says, “Girlfriend’s the love of my life. She’s asleep and doesn’t watch the show. She’s new to hockey, but gets right fired up. She’s the best. I’m sure she is.” I assume then like he still Yeah, he is. I think we’re good. I think we’re on the engagement train. Okay. All right. We’ll move off that. Uh, Van City Knuck says, “Jeff, with all these days off and teams making up games, will the Conucks get zero points, how far out of a playoff spot will they be by the time they drop the puck versus Calgary on Sunday?” I I’m going to punt on that question because after Sunday, they don’t play again until Wednesday. They’re in a run right now of a much needed break in the schedule, but two games in nine nights while teams are playing all around them. So, I mean, we’ll talk about it Wednesday. We will talk about it Wednesday, but without going deep, and I’m not trying to ignore it, but Earth’s got the rule that we can’t check the standings on the show until US Thanksgiving or at least the eve of US Thanksgiving. Uh, you’re barking up the right tree there. Yep. Is where I’ll go with that. And people can say it’s early, but it can get laid early as well. And if you’re not picking up points, and other teams are, uh, and if you’re one that wants to look at the standings right now, check point percentage. Don’t get caught up in the points. Like, look at point percentage. That’s sort of tells you the bigger better story uh about this Vancouver Canucks Hockey Club right now. Uh, the five on three again, they moved the puck around, generated some shots, there were looks there, but ultimately no goals. Uh that’s now 0 for three on the season, five on three. They have had three and a half minutes of five on three time and haven’t been able to score. And and that’s troubling because the teams that do score generally make it look so easy. Zip it around, find a wideopen look and pull the trigger. And here again, maybe a little too much passing and not enough shooting. But on the night, Kucks had 12 power play shots on goal. That’s going to lead us into our stat that stands out. It’s delivered by Uber Eats. Uber Eats enabling fans to maximize their fandom all season long with exclusive game day deals on the app. Every time the Conucks are playing at home, you can get a buy one get one six-piece chicken McNuggets from McDonald’s in Vancouver. Only on Uber Eats. From game day eats to paper plates and napkins. If you’re hosting to all the ingredients you need to make your favorite game day dip before, during, or after the game, Uber Eatats is assisting every fan’s hockey experience all season long. # crave the stats. And our stat that stands out tonight is that the Cucks have now scored a power play goal in six straight games. So, if we are trying to draw positives here, again, it’s kind of like yes, it is, but it isn’t. Uh, but they are finding ways to get this power play going. And uh at one point, and I haven’t looked at the complete completion of play tonight, but at one point earlier in the night, there were only three teams in the National Hockey League with more power play goals this season than the Vancouver Conucks. So Jake De Bratz responsible for the bulk of them. Uh that’s Elias Patterson’s second power play goal of the year, uh 22 games in. So uh you know, again, it’s hard to knock a power play that has outproduced just about every other team. And yet it’s crazy the reliance on Jake De Bras. I think Keherwood’s got three and now EP 40 has two. So, uh, maybe this is the start of something. Maybe they diversify a little bit. But 22 games into the season, Brock Berser’s got one power play goal. Quinn Hughes has one power play goal. Connor Garland’s got one power play goal. Ultimately, they don’t care who puts the puck across the line as long as it happens. They did in the first period. They couldn’t the rest of the way. And as a result, uh, they fall 4-2 to the Dallas Stars. And that is back-to-back losses. This one looked better than the loss in Florida to wrap up the road trip. But, uh, they all look the same in the lost column. And, uh, again, uh, basically a week going by here without the Canucks. Well, they got two points in Tampa on Sunday. So, uh, coming up on a week where, you know, two points uh, as other teams around you are collecting theirs, that’s not going to get the job done. But uh a power play goal in six straight that’s something to build on and that is our stat that stands out. Vegas, Edmonton, Mini, Boston, Dallas, those are the teams ahead of them in power play goals forward for the season. Yeah. Updated then as this night and there was action around the National Hockey League. So, as I said, that was uh when I looked a little bit earlier on. Um, we talked about him a lot early and then other sort of storylines and angles kind of caught our attention, maybe took a priority here. But where are you with Aander Kane, who again plays more at five on five than Elias Person did, and Leas Peterson played a season high of 24 minutes and 43 seconds. 1612 of that at five on five of Ander Kane. 16 minutes and 32 seconds of five on five ice time. 19 minutes and 23 seconds overall. Two shots, seven attempts, two hits, and nothing in the stat column. Uh like the goals and the assists. He’s now gone seven games without a goal. He has three goals on the season. Two of them came in the same game. So, he’s only put the puck in the net in two of the 22 games that the Vancouver Conucks have played. There have been some nights, there have been some moments and some plays along the way. I’m not going to sit here and write his season off entirely, but I certainly expected more than three goals at the 22 game mark. Well, he didn’t take a penalty, so that’s a positive. Okay. Yeah, fair. Um, so we’ll start with that. I didn’t like the end of the game where couldn’t get the puck in the zone and then once in the zone didn’t really do anything when he was in the zone. um in the offensive zone that that is um it the experiment is kind of weird right now. It like who can Evander really play with and I think that the that’s a tough kind of problem for Adam foot. I mean he plays him a lot in every single game. The guy’s top near the tops in the league in ice time. Like the guy plays a lot of hockey. Obviously playing with Alita Patterson you’re you’re going to play a lot but what are you what are you doing to help contribute to your hockey team? Um, you know, we saw those couple of games in the Flashes where he had eight shots on net, seven shots on net. Um, now we’re we’re not really seeing that with Evander Kane. Not really hitting that many much, not fighting. I mean, not that he’s here to fight, but you got you got to contribute a little bit more. I thought the gloves would have come off by now. Yeah. So did I. Just with I mean, he Well, he did want uh KAR Miller in in in Carolina. That’s true. He chased him around uh when maybe he shouldn’t have. Maybe shouldn’t have. And he had the massive hit on Regula in Edmonton in the second game of the season. feels like eight years ago. Um yeah, I I thought I guess I expected more of a physical presence and at some point with the losing here, I thought the gloves would have come off somewhere along the line. Um you know, the underlying numbers weren’t great for him tonight. Uh we talked about all that five on five ice time. Uh positive shot attempt differential, but the actual shots on goal nine to three in the Stars favor and he was on the ice for uh two of their four goals. So, yeah, this wasn’t a great night for him. Um, and I’m not seeing a ton of chemistry. Like, it’s not like Elias Person is in this incredible run of form on the shoulders of Aander Kane. They kind of coexist. But to your point, like where do you move them and who are the better options um on left wing? Like that’s the thing. And it’s like, and no, I’m not trying to knock Evander Kane here, but like what are you doing? Are you being helpful to your hockey team night in and night out or are you just going to eat 20 minutes of ice time every single game? Well, he certainly uh is feasting on the ice time. There’s no question about that. Surprisingly so. Uh and again, Jake Deuski is doing a nice job on the power play, but he’s only got one even strength goal here. But when he started the year with Leas Patterson, there wasn’t a whole lot happening there and Pety wasn’t playing particularly well. So now that Leas Patterson’s playing better, could you go back to De Brusk and see if they could capture something five on five? I mean, I think Adam Foot is trying to spread whatever offense he’s got here. Um, well, I think the best chance for success is De Brusser like that that is their top line. And I know Sherwood’s been great and the Sherwood story has been awesome, but the best chance to have success where Leas Person I think is having the most success is De Bruss and and and Brock Besser. I think those three have played together long enough where they know they know each other. The chemistry like you mentioned is there. It didn’t really happen off the top of the season and then injuries came into the play. And I think now like a night like tonight, you know, he had camp at center really on the second line with Besser and Garland and you’re thinking, well, Besser’s a shooter and a scorer. Camp is not a second line center by anybody’s imagination, but this is where the Canucks are. But I think he was trying to, you know, we saw Brock last year take on more of a defensively responsible. Like I think Brock can play in the matchup role. He did a fair bit with JT Miller last year and Garland drives play a lot. And so maybe the hope was that it was Connor Garland that was going to, you know, carry the puck and transport it and get to the offensive zone. Whatever the case, uh, mixed bag. That line took on a heavy matchup, held its own. Um, and then from there, you saw Adam Foot try and work some of the matchups with the last change. So, we’ll see what it looks like on Sunday. Uh, I don’t think that they’re getting anybody back. Um, you know, we haven’t talked and I don’t think we should spend a lot of time, but it took 13 games for Lucas Reichel to become a healthy scratch for the Vancouver Conucks, which is based on his performance, not a huge surprise here. Um, and I don’t know where it goes from here. And and Archie Baines has been a healthy scratch for four straight games. And I starting to wonder where will Arste Baines play his next hockey. Will it be in a Vancouver Canuck uniform? Will it be in Abbottzford Canuck uniform? Will they put him on waiverss here? And I don’t think you want him sitting forever. And Abbottzford certainly couldn’t use all the help it could get if they were able to send uh some players back. So, we’ll see where it goes. But uh it’s not been a great week for our Steve Baines who started this year on the second line for the Vancouver Conucks and has now been a healthy scratch for for four straight games. Yeah, it’s a kind of a tough situation for both of them. They both probably want to play. Riel, what? He’s up one point since he’s gotten here. Like that’s unfortunate. That’s not what they signed up for. That was a trade, a lowrisisk trade that they made and said, “Okay, the upside’s high.” Well, you kind of not going to get much upside if he’s already a healthy scratch. Um, are they afraid of losing him on waivers? I’m not entirely sure anyone really is going to claim him. Archie Baines, I think, would would would clear. I I I do and I think that, you know, going back down to Avitzford would probably do him a lot of good as opposed to sitting in the press box just having popcorn and watching the games. I I think that, you know, playing is obviously a lot better for these guys. But, um, yeah, like I’m I’m with you. I don’t know where Arsh will end up playing again, whether that’s in Vancouver or or in Abbottzford, cuz you you look at the way that their lines are constructed right now. It’s kind of like the Vander Kaneish a little bit, like where do you put him in? Where does Archie Baines fit in? Is it with Cissone and and Lenus Carlson? Well, Carlson’s playing really good offensively right now. Are you going to reunite that? Are you going to mess with that, Juju? I don’t think you want to do that. Um, and then it’s like where where else does he fit in? He’s not a guy that you’re going to be putting him on the line to be a shutdown guy. It’s it’s it’s a problem where I think the resolution is to send him down to Absford. Uh, another super chat from caffeine goes in face and it says this one’s just for mental health. So, it’s making a donation, but he also says, “Thanks for these shows. Don’t live in Vancouver anymore and this show a great place for my emotional outlet around my team.” So, hey, appreciate all of that. A bit of a botched breakout by the Dallas Stars and Lenus Carlson picks up the puck in the neutral zone, carries it down the left wing and defenseman gives him a little too much space as it turns out. Right shot off the left side and he makes no mistake and that’s his third goal of the season. More than that though, as you said, like it’s his seventh point in 19 games of limited ice time. like he rarely pops 10 minutes a night. That’s a 30point pace. Like I think at the outset of the season, if you’d said could you get 30 points out of Lenus Carlson, you’d sign up for that. And so um yeah, hard to knock. Looked like a goal scorer there. And uh you know, we’ll see where the season goes. But where a guy like Arsy Baines is sort of spinning his wheels and it’s hard to figure out uh where he fits in. Lenus Carlson looks like he belongs in a fourthline capacity. And I see some people saying like when you see him shoot the puck like that, like why wouldn’t you try him in some other spots in this lineup as well? I don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves. Um, you know, he’s not a gifted scorer at the NHL level, but uh nice play and nice finish on that one tonight. Yeah, and I I I think that you know, three goals in his last six games. It’s this is the Lenus Carlson that we wanted to see, right? the Lenus Carlson that we saw when you and I were doing all those shows and when Abbottzford was was winning the Calder Cup where he was dominant force where he was a guy that was dependent on night in and night out offensively. Um unfortunately he’s just not going to get that offensive role here. They have too many other guys too many guys that frankly make too much money and they’ve scored and proven that they can score in the National Hockey League. It’s just it’s not going to happen for Lenus Carlson. in that role. If you can find and and be a guy where you’re a fourthline guy and can contribute with limited ice time like you just said um that’s perfect for him and similar to a guy like Drew O’ Conor right similar to him if you can find and carve out a role where on a third or fourth line limited ice time you can contribute not asking you to do it every single night they don’t need it every single night but they need it maybe once every 10 games you know once every once every nine or 10 games they have the guys on third and fourth line that can kind of take you and get you through a game then I think you get a lot and that’s kind of what I think that Lenus Carlson is is going to provide to the Vancouver Conucks. Yeah, three goals in 19 games is sort of that pace. I mean, that’s, you know, do the math there. It’s one goal every six or seven games. Again, if he could score that, that would get him to double digits in goals on the season. And I think uh again, you’d take that uh from a fourthline guy that has shown an ability to score at other levels, whether it’s the AHL, whether it was back home in Sweden, celebrated his birthday last weekend and gets a belated birthday goal. So, I like, you know, again, limited ice time, 9 minutes and 39 seconds. Uh 808 at five on five, but has two shots, four attempts. He has a couple of hits as well. And so, I think a pretty positive and solid night of work for Lenus Carlson. We’re going to hear from Elias Patterson here momentarily. Before we do that though, we had build this up uh for a while when you looked at the schedule and for a stretch there we were like, who have the Conucks beaten really? Oh, they had beaten Dallas and the win in Washington on that road trip at the time. Uh, you know, the Capitals have kind of been up and down, but that was a good win in Washington. That was part of a three-game win streak. They started in Dallas, went to Chicago, uh, and then beat the Capitals. Yeah, they beat Edmonton in overtime. There have been some wins, and I know the Oilers have struggled as well, but, uh, anytime you can knock off David Duttle, like, you take those points. Um, but we looked at the schedule and said, “All right, middle of November, they’re going to play Colorado, Winnipeg, then go out on that three-game and four-night trip to Carolina, Tampa, and Florida, and then they have to hustle home and they’re going to face the Dallas Stars.” Well, the results are inf. They won one of those games. They won one. They went 1 three and two. And one of the overtime losses was Carolina where they got absolutely demolished territorially. So, um, you know, again, if you’re asking who are the Vancouver Conucks and you look at a six-game stretch against quality opponents and they only come up with one victory long haul as you’re projecting, you know, that doesn’t bode well for a team that still believes that it can get to uh where it wants to go, which is the playoffs. But I think as you pointed out, like there’s just no other way around it now. They’re going to have to have a 20game segment where they go 16 and four or something crazy like that. And just with all the inconsistencies and the holes in this lineup, that feels like a monumental ask of this Vancouver Conucks team. Well, and even just a parody in the National Hockey League, there’s so many good teams. Like the San Jose Sharks won in shootout against the against the LA Kings, you know, like like they’re a team that is right on the heels of the Vancouver Conucks. They’re a team that, you know, nobody believes in there. There’s no easy out in the NHL and especially if you’re the Vancouver Conucks. So, as you as you mentioned, who who is this team? What is this team? We can’t be sitting here every single night if they play well saying that they played really good and and you know, chat’s like, “Oh, moral victories and and things like that.” No, it’s not. It’s two points or one point or no points. And unfortunately for the Vancouver Conucks, one win against, you know, the gauntlet of opponents that they did did have is only two points out of a possible lot more that could help them in the standings. All right, Elias Patterson, we’ve talked about him a fair bit. Prominent was one of the stars in this hockey game. Had a night, but unfortunately not enough to propel the Canucks to victory. They fall 4-2 to the Dallas Stars. Uh here are some of the thoughts of EP40. Yeah, for sure. Uh we definitely had some looks to score. Uh I had some good looks to score, take the lead, but uh yeah. How about you look back at that five on three now? You guys had some pretty good chances. Ultimately would have made a big difference. Yeah, for sure. I mean, we we got a minute 20 if we we have to get a goal there. Um games like this tight, uh special teams could could win us the game. Uh now we got one on power play, but uh when we get a long five on three, we need to get a goal. Pet, I’m sure you’re disappointed in the moment, but are you able yet to sort of think about that performance and sort of look at it as one of the best that this group’s had in terms of controlling play this season? Well, not good enough if we lost. So, um definitely it’s a good team over there. We um definitely did enough to win. Uh but yeah, wasn’t enough today. Um, yeah. Felt like your usage changed a little bit today now that camp is on the team. Seemed like you were able to start in the offensive zone a little bit more frequently. You not necessarily handled the toughs exclusively, although you still played a lot of games right now. Did you notice a difference over the course of the game? Yeah, I noticed a little difference. Um, I mean, footy, I have all my beliefs in him, what he sees. Um, I’m just ready whenever he calls me. You talked about special teams. be a difference maker. Can you take anything out of the penalty cut tonight? Yeah, that was good. We talked about being more aggressive, not let them uh get too many gets too much time with the puck chances when we uh so that was definitely better today and improvements there. It seemed like something that you guys were able to build off as well. Like we talked about how sometimes up healthy can grow momentum for a team and it seemed like that was a little bit happening today. Yeah, I think so. Um, Pico was good, Lance was good in that. Um, yeah, just like when just uh we got to be better us on the power play one to get uh to get a goal there in the five and three. Um, yeah, there you go. Patterson with some thoughts on a 4-2 loss to the Dallas Stars. He was asked about the penalty kill. Uh, we talked about the fact that this Dallas team came in with the second best power play in the National Hockey League. Most power play goals scored this year. power play running at 31%. And the Gucks killed off both of the penalties, Lenus Carlson in the first period and Drew O’ Connor on offensive zone hooking or holding call uh eight minutes into the third and Dallas only had two official power play shots. Jason Robertson hit the post on the first period power play, so that was close, but um no, I mean there was some good there for a penalty kill that has bled goals in an outrageous rate going up against a red hot power play. Uh again, silver linings here, but if you’re looking for some of the things, but uh Pety was right. I mean, I liked his analysis that uh yeah, you know, he knows that they scored the one power play goal, but said long five on three, just you got to especially in a two, you have to put the the hammer down. Well, even then, I mean, I think it was Thomas Dance that asked him, you know, collectively as a team, was this probably one of your best games? And he goes, well, no, cuz we lost. And then I think that he gets it. You know, we we sit here and people say, “Oh, moral victories.” But these guys know. These guys know what’s at stake every single night when they go out there, right? And yeah, as good as they did play, they still came up short in the ultimate prize. Like they they lost the hockey game. Uh we look at the Colin Blackwell goal. It turns out to be the game winner. Two two tie. And again, the Conucks hadn’t done a lot. They had the early power play where Patterson had that glorious opportunity. Uh and then Jason Robertson had the blue paint chance as well. So there were chances at both ends of the ice. It stays 2-2. And you know, again, you see this so often in hockey where the Conucks are unable to get the puck in deep. And in transition, you know, it’s just one decision, but it’s a poor decision in the wrong moment. Tom Lander jumps up and he gets caught and a heck of a spinning pass from Radic Fax off the sideboards uh right on the stick of a a rushing Colin Blackwell. And Adam Foot talked about this this morning where, you know, these are who the stars are. They try to catch in transition. They try to do it with their speed. I don’t know if you necessarily expect Colin Blackwell to be the guy on the finishing end, but uh he snaps it on the glove side on Kevin Lankan. And then and there really wasn’t much that Quinn Hughes could do as the last man back. And so turnover at the offensive line and moments later, uh what turns out to be the game winner wound up in the back of their net. It’s a rookie mistake. He’s going to have to learn from it. that film session isn’t going to be fun for him for sure. Um, thought he could get there, but it’s the NHL. Vas Vasquez has played in the NHL for a very long time. Knows how, you know, boards work and things like that and the way the pucks is going to bounce and like you mentioned the Dallas Stars, they they try and get teams like that and, you know, they try and pounce on your mistakes and the one mistake proved to be very costly for the Vancouver Conucks. Yeah, it uh was a game that was begging for one more connect goal there in the third period and unfortunately they uh couldn’t get it and third periods have been an issue for this hockey club all season long. They give up the only two goals in the third and as a result they fall by a score of four to2. So that’s backto-back losses in regulation time. They beat Tampa last Sunday. So the losing streak, it’s modest right now as it stands. It’s just at two, but we talked about this gauntlet. you go back uh overtime loss in Carolina, the regulation loss to Winnipeg, overtime loss to the Colorado Avalanche. It’s just one win in the last six hockey games now for the Vancouver Conucks. All right, uh we have broken this one down. We’re hoping to hear from Adam Foot. We’ll see if uh we get that opportunity. In the meantime, let’s take a look at what’s coming up on the out of town scoreboard. It’s time for our bet 365 line of the night. I’m going to start with the Chicago Blackhawks. I love the way that team has been playing lately. Um, I really do. I love Connor Baddard. Love the fact that they lost against the Seattle Kraken and have to go to Buffalo, but I’m taking the Blackhawks all day long over the Buffalo Savers at plus money. Winnipeg Jets and Carolina Hurricanes. Can you imagine that as a Stanley Cup final? It could happen. They’re both They’re both some pretty good hockey teams. I mean, Colorado Avalanche are gonna have something to say about that. But the Winnipeg Jets, I like them at plus money as well. on the LA Kings after losing to the San Jose Sharks to have them beating the Boston Bruins. So, you put those three together, you get some decent odds on bet 365. Whatever you bet, it’s never ordinary. Bet 365. Download the app, get in on the game, use Code Nation. Bet 365 must be 19 and older. Please play responsibly. And the Conucks did play responsibly in this hockey game for the most part. But again, uh an inopportune breakdown at 22. And Puck winds up in the net. That was 10:47 in the third period, by the way, the time of the Colin Blackwell goal. Just his second goal of the season, which is nowhere close to the number of NHL franchises that he has played for. F was uh playing game show here in the studio as this game went. Shocked me. In the league since 2018, 2019 with the Nashville Predators. He’s played for six teams. That surprised four. I I have zero recollection of him as a Predator. I don’t have any actual I remember briefly in Seattle and the Rangers and obviously now uh here in Dallas, but um you know for the Stars like they’ll take a night like this where you know they’re banking on Jason Robertson scoring every night rant and does what he did uh quite frequently but you know they got third goal of the year from Bourc and the second goal of the year from Blackwell. Now the Canucks got a goal from Lenus Carlson. So they got one deep in their lineup. It was just sort of the the middle of the the sandwich there that was kind of missing. What do we make uh if anything of David Comp’s first home game as a Kuck? The numbers were 13 minutes and 20 seconds. So sort of in the same ballpark that he played the other night down in Florida in his debut. Had two shots, a couple of hits, uh won six of 15 faceoffs. So a guy that was pretty good in the draw the other night, not so much here. again, uh, used in a matchup role and I would think that we’ll see some more of that. Uh, was on the ice for five goals against the other night in Florida. So, this is an improvement obviously, but did you notice him at all one way or the other? Nope, not really. I look, I I think that we noticed him talking about the the matchup role that he’s going to have to play a little bit of that to free up Pey and or Leas Patterson. And I think that that’s probably what they’re going to hope to do on home ice is have camp play that matchup role. So Leos Person can go up against a team’s third line and, you know, hopefully, you know, be able to create a little bit more offense. But yeah, I mean, he wasn’t he’s not going to be the savior here for the Vancouver Conucks as as a second line center. Um, you’re not going to get, you know, flashy, brilliant nights of David Camp going off for two goals and and three assists and, you know, five shot attempts and things like that. You know, he’s he’s a solid player. He should be responsible in his own end. you know, build as a as a two-way defensive forward, and that’s what they’re going to need from him to go and be able to do that. I know in the first game, he was on the ice for a lot of goals against, but you know, you hope that that can improve. Obviously, now coming to Vancouver, being with the team, he’s got his family here, so you hope that things settle down a little bit, but the schedule sucks. I mean, it sucks for everyone, you know, as they have the two games, they go back out on the road, then they come back, then they go to New York, like they go another long road trip. So, there’s a lot of time to hopefully, you know, get involved and with the team. Not that much practice time though, Jeff. No day off on Friday. Um and then a practice day Saturday before they face the Flames on Sunday. Super chat from Demaniac says, “I saw a lot of bad bounces this game. Is it just that or does the forward group still struggle to finish?” Uh I think you answered your own question there on the back end that uh yeah, I mean look, Brock Ber’s got eight goals, but he’s gone four without scoring now. That’s the longest he’s gone all season long. Connor Garland missed the game the other night. He comes back. I didn’t really notice him an awful lot in this hockey game. De Bruska’s been scoring mostly on the power play. Uh but you know on a night like tonight there were opportunities. People want to hear about the chances they generated. Want to talk about the goals that they didn’t score ultimately and that’s what happens uh when you lose by a score of 4 to2. Uh let let me ask you then because since we’re having this moral victory debate, what did you like from from from the Vancouver Canucks and I like the response to the early goal against um you know sometimes you give a greasy goal like that games can get away from you in a hurry. I will give this team credit 22 games in like games don’t really get away from them until late. I don’t know if that’s a good thing necessarily, but you know, even the other night, a goofy game in Florida, they were able to battle back and tie it at five and then they lost. Here tonight, it’s 2-2 in the third period. I haven’t loved third periods other than the one in Tampa, and I’m not sure where that came from because uh thirds have been a real problem for the Vancouver Canucks, but I did like the response and the fact that it was Lenus Carlson capitalizing on opportunity there. And then after they fell behind two to one, again, Canucks were able to tie. So, they stay within reach in a lot of these games. It’s just that they haven’t been able to put a lot of those tight games in a strangle hold and and wrestle them in their direction. I like Deas Patterson. Um, you know, I think he’s been under such a microscope all year and there have been some nights where he had some points and people I think were getting a little giddy about his performance, but like this was another night where this guy dug in, plays almost 25 minutes. We talked about the shots and the shot attempts. the fact that he scored one or the two goals uh was one of the game stars. I I I like that and I do hope that this is something for him to build on. Uh again, I’m ready to see him have a different winger, but I’m not the coach of this hockey club, so we’ll see how they roll out at practice on Saturday and how they play on Sunday against the Calgary Flames. All right. Uh we’re going to catch a little bit of Adam foot here. Uh let’s hear from the head coach who addressed the media after his team falls 4-2 to the Stars. Yeah, I mean it was probably our best game of the year. Um, we frustrated them the second period. We pretty much dominated that period and you could see it in their game. Um, yeah, that was good. What did you like about the changes you made to the Lions, particularly, you know, moving camp up into that top six role and changing the way you approached the matchups a little bit? Well, he, you know, he’s got some experience and he’s trying to find his game and, you know, he just got here to a new system, a new team, and hasn’t played a lot lately. So, um, as the game went, I felt like he got more comfortable defending. Um, I just like the way we we defended. I like the way we’re in guys. We’re in their face. We took time and space away really quick. And I liked our neutral zone, our D were gapping up. Our our sometimes when you have a twoman press, it’s easy for everyone to gap up. when you get into a one two for some reason the back guys don’t get up and we were getting up today so I really like that and um we were overloading pretty good coming back for our D and then our D could pinch and I think we were giving them fits and um they were frustrated in terms of those matchup changes one one of the things we saw was a lot of Atuatu playing against that Johnston Ranton in line and maybe in a soft match Um, what was sort of the thinking behind changing up some of those matchups and sort of freeing Person up to play more against their third line? Well, as the game got had gone on, there was a lot of minutes for PD in the power play and then some on that PK. So, he just can’t go take every face off in in the end. So, that was part of it, right? Um, you know, and um that line’s been defending pretty good. So, um, it was more of you didn’t want to burn burn out PD, you know, and, uh, so we had to adjust there. You also were able to I don’t know what it finished at, but through 40 minutes, uh, Patterson had only been on the ice for one five on five defensive zone draw, which is very different from a lot of what we’ve seen this season. Is that sort of the flexibility that you now have with camp in the lineup? Yeah, for sure. I mean, it worked out well with the matchups, but they were also trying to get they were also trying to get their third and fourth line out, and they had a lot of offensive zone draws as well, so it shows they respected our top lines, you know. Um, so we we had to get our guys out, too. I felt that um Assassin’s line really gave us a lot, especially early. Um, so yeah, it was just it was kind of like a matchup thing going back and forth. All right, there you go, Adam Foot on the chess game. Right off the top, you have a There we go. right off the top called it his team’s best game of the season. And that comes right back to the I mean we’ve heaped praise on them, but it’s hard to do uh when you ultimately lose the hockey game. So process was all right. Maybe better than all right, but uh in the end it is another loss. All right. Uh a couple of housekeeping items here before we run along. Um good on the Kuck players that showed up at the rink rocking the Vancouver Golden Eyes jerseys. Uh big weekend of sports ahead here. uh professional women’s hockey in our city for the first time. I say for real, I mean they had the uh dream tour last year that came through and packed Rogers Arena and showed that Vancouver can support uh the professional women’s hockey league, but we’ve got a team of our own and they open against the Seattle Torrent on Friday night at the Pacific Coliseum. So, uh it was Atuatu, it was Jake De Bruss, Kevin Laninan and Kefir Sherwood who were the four Canucks that uh the team put out on its socials. So good on them. Uh Trevor Begs from Daily Hive asked Atuatu about it after the game and he said, “Love the jerseys. They’re so cool. I hope they still have some tickets. We have a day off, so I’m definitely going to go watch.” And then he mentioned that he had to get the jersey Ubered to him. Um hey, it worked. Uh so good on Atu Ratu and the rest of them and good luck to the Vancouver Golden Eyes. Packed house, not a ticket to be had. So Atu is going to have to pull some strings there, I think, to get into the Coliseum. And of course that’s Friday night. And then Saturday, 50,000 plus to see Thomas Müller and the Vancouver White Caps in playoff action against LAFC. I’m going, you’re going. Fun. Looking forward to that as well. Not able to make it to the Golden Knights game, but I’ll be watching on TV. So, uh, looking forward to that as well. And then, uh, Sunday, it’s the Calgary Flames. Their second visit of the season. Canucks beat them on opening night. Had to work for it. uh scored four times in the third period in a 5-1 victory. Uh Flames, meanwhile, beat Buffalo last night. They are last in the standings at 613 and six. So, not a lot of winning for that Calgary hockey club. Devin Culie picked up his first victory of the season first as a flame. He’s got crazy numbers. He’s won two and one with a 1.80 goals against average and a 935 save percentage. And there’s a pretty good chance the Conucks will see him. I would think Dustin Wolf sees the Stars on Saturday. And then uh I would not be surprised if Kulie was in goal against the Canucks on Sunday. Calgary sucks on the road 3-9 and one. Uh let’s be honest, three wins in 13 games on the road. So uh that’s not very good. But uh Matt Coronado, Blake Coleman lead the team seven goals a piece. Now Cery, he’s got 14 points. Rasmus Anderson’s still there. E I keep hearing all these trade talks about him, but he’s still a flame. Uh he’s got 12 points. So off to an east and start there and I think we’ve mentioned this before but it’s back to back for the Flames. They’re home to Dallas on Saturday and then Canucks get a practice day Saturday. So this is where the schedule should work in the Vancouver Conucks favor. The Flames have been all over the place while the Canucks have been here at home and um the Conucks should be hungry coming off a loss like this one. So uh that is Sunday night 6:00 by the way. Note the start time 6:00 and that means that uh we’ll get going. You’re working on on Sunday night with me. I am. We’ll do pitch side after the white caps and then I like that. Um, hey, don’t give our bosses ideas here. Or maybe we should. I don’t know. 50,000 people. Be a hunger for some postmatch coverage of the White Caps. Uh, all right. Uh, so yeah, the Bankro Conucks now 911 and two on the season. Just three wins on home ice. They’ll try to bump that total with a victory over the Calgary Flames on Sunday. All right, that is going to do it for us. Jacob Lazar, our technical producer, working hard behind the scenes. We appreciate his help for Earthf. I’m Jeff. This team has to take less shots, keep the opposing goalie cold. Just run down the clock and hope for a way to get 1 point of the game.
Let the other guy get a word in Jeff. 10 mins in and you haven’t shut up yet
At the end with the goalie pulled, we had momentum pushing for the equalizer. Garland opted to shoot the puck in and chase it rather than the smart play and skate it in. Dallas collects the puck and clears the zone. That there play killed the possession, killed the momentum and sealed the game. Very disappointed in that as it could have easily been preventable as we had the puck and simply gave it away. I hate dump and chase, and this is a prime example of why
Ep40's improvement on the ice has made for better interviews too. He looks more willing to break down plays and give longer answers.
The 5 on 3 opportunity was up in the balance – it was the game right there. It’s such a Canuckian thing not to, even though we were hot
Is it just me gojng crazy or is it everytime the Canucks outshoot their opponent, they always lose the game ? It really does seem like every game I see where the Canucks outshot their opponents they never win that game.
Pull the goalie on the 5 on 3, and go 6 on 3 ???? That was A LOT OF PASSES, looking for the perfect play again, and NO SHOTS outmanning rebounds… The historical history of this team.
