The NBA Has A Lauri Markkanen PROBLEM..

Lowry Markin has been going crazy the last three games. 35 points against Indiana, 40 against Atlanta, and then the icing on the cake, 47 against Chicago. There was tons of talk about him being overpaid in the off season. Well, guess what? He’s putting that to bed and living up to his value. He just blows my mind. He’s such a unique player. He’s built like a center, 7 foot1, 240 lbs. But he honestly is used and plays like a small forward. For example, he can just receive an offball screen on the perimeter like it’s nothing. He catches and then drives full speed downhill, dribbling and finishing while fading with his weak hand. Are you kidding me? Then a minute later, Seakum’s like, “We’re not doing this again. I’m going to go under the screen to avoid what just happened. Well, you can’t do that because he’s a threat to catch and shoot from three at any point in time. And then look at this creativity. It seems like Philip Powski and him are going to set a double screen on the basketball. Nope. He receives a screen and he flares to the three-point line. His guy was not expecting that at all. So now the Pacers defense is completely broken down. The middle’s wide open and then he catches over the head Euro Stepper. What is this dude? And now Nerk is screening for him at the foul line. The defenders have to switch. Guess what? That opens up the mid-range jumper. If Steph Curry was 7’1, this is how he would play basketball for real. Notice he gets everything in the natural flow of the offense. He’s not pounding that rock. all the plays we just went over at maximum he took one to two dribbles to get to his spot and score the basketball and most of them he’s just catching and firing away and everyone likes to talk about the Utah Jazz you know being a losing team quote unquote he’s not impacting winning unfortunately most can’t do the simple mathematics and realize the talent just isn’t there around him however you look at perpivate.com he’s played 470 minutes this season they’re only a negative8 in his minutes. Meanwhile, without him, it jumps up to a negative 54. As you can see, they are very close to having a positive net rating with him on the court. Meanwhile, nowhere near close without him. I’d say the biggest improvement throughout his years is just, you know, growing into his body, adding muscle and things of that nature, and understanding how to utilize his size on the basketball court. He’s averaging 7.1 free throws per game. That pace is currently a careerhigh. His previous career high was during his all-star season back in 2023 when he averaged six free throws per game. And last year when he had that down year, this was a big weakness. Just 3.9 free throws per game. Clearly, the injuries were affecting him. His aggressiveness has truly reached another level as well. 21.5 field goals attempted per game. His previous careerhigh once again all-star season, 17.3 field goals per game. When he’s at his best, he’s one of the best cutters in all of basketball because of his size, but also he’s got great hands. I mean, this is a terrible pass and he just saves the day. And then within the next frame, he transitions to the other hand and finishes the reverse laying. Come on now. And his fourth quarter takeover yesterday was insane. Tie game. Start out with a three-pointer. No biggie. Now he’s got the smaller defender on him. Jab, step, one dribble, turnaround jumper in your grill. Down by three points. Back to Nerkage screening for him at the foul line. He’s so quick to transition into that three-point shot after catching on the move. It’s ridiculous. Down by one point. Same exact action. And there is no air space when he catches, but it doesn’t matter because of his size and length. Now he’s handling the rock like a point guard. He says, “Vuchish, you can’t keep up with me with all this space and opportunity.” And can somebody explain in the comments section what on earth is he doing here? How does he get rewarded for this? Look at Vuvich right now. He’s defeated. He’s dejected. And do I blame him? Absolutely not. I would I would feel the same if I was guarding him and he pulled off something like that. I I would give up basketball. I know outside of Utah, not many NBA fans want to check out the Jazz, but I’m telling you right now, you might have to because he’s playing mustwatch basketball. And the thing about the Jazz, Will Hardy has a great team system over there. It It’s a fun watch despite their lack of talent. And their talent is definitely better than last season. Overall, he deserves some attention because there was a lot of chatter about that contract being a big overpay. Hopefully, he has a career season because it’s a joy to watch. Let me know your thoughts below.

  1. NBA only has a defence problem. Markkanen’s 47 points would be 27 points if defence was still allowed in the game. NBA is dead and this is one example of that.

  2. Elite player stuck in a mid team. Ofc his production would drop in a better team but atleast he would have chance to maybe win some playoff games in a real team. Hes already 28yrs old makes no sense to be stuck on a tanking team.

  3. As a jazz fan, seeing Lauri's evolution has been amazing (there hasn't been much else to cheer for lately). But he's gotten so much better at handling contact and being aggressive this year. All-star here we come!

  4. Its a shame we havent seen Lauri in the playoffs, he hates to lose meaningfull games and has been a Monster in our national team🇫🇮💪. Just think abaut if Wemby and Lauri would team up in san antonio😬,thats a finals team with proper pg. And fox is one…

  5. If anything Lauri is still underpaid. Most underrated player in NBA. Too bad that winning is not Utah thing. Ainge hate winning, he like more picks than he like good players, so Lauri is gone before trade deadline hits.

  6. If the jazz franchise weren’t actively trying to be as bad as possible over the last couple years, they might be right up in the playoff mix now.
Nice to see what Hardy is doing to maximize Lauri’s strengths this year, though. On the up!

  7. Its just crazy to me that multiple coaches in Chicago saw this guy and didn't think he was any good and just gave him fewer and fewer minutes and touches every year.

  8. as a FIN i am a fan but looking this video and how many times he just goes for him self when theres team mate way open. he could make his team better adding little jokic in his game and started passing more. as a fast big man the help needs to come and it does leaving man open for free basket and he just forces his shot that is way worse than just passing the rock. thats why jokic is so good he can score by him self but he is saving his strengh choosing the minimal effort play. why try to push trough 2 players when you can pass it for free dunk

  9. In the 60s there was another Flying Finn in the States. His name was Lauri Törni (=Larry Thorne). Duke Wayne played him in THE GREEN BERETS (1968). KIA in 65, chopper crash.
    = 2 Lauris are better than NONE !!! 🇫🇮

  10. 4:14 Is the most Finnish sisu finish I have ever seen in basketball. No matter the odds, you go and do whatever you can against any odds. That is such a show of Finnish mentality. 😅

  11. Warriors mess up in 2024 they could have trade Johnathan and Brandon for Lauri but Draymond dumb ass said they won't him cuz he getting paid to much like what y'all getting paid to much to
