Guys a player. If he can manage to take another step in his skating then he has low-end 2C potential. Otherwise, a 3C which is great too.
Our team may suck this year but this team DOES have young talent around the edges, they’re missing the 2 big pieces though.
Cootes, Raty, Willander, EP25, Lekkerimaki. Those are good supporting pieces. Go get your top end guy(s) in the draft.
Let’s definitely play this dude less than AHL players like Kampf

Raty has already proven himself to be a reasonable 3C this year IMO. He’s young enough to become a high-end 3C, potentially even more if his skating takes another step. If Cootes can turn into a genuine 2C I honestly think our centre group is going to be reasonable in the medium term.
The top of this draft class is loaded with potentially elite wingers, and that’s exactly what we need.
It’s concerning that he is getting shafted on icetime, it’s like with Green and Willie during Benning era when the team couldn’t even identify effective players in our own line up

I haven’t watched every game this year but thought he looked fantastic last night. He’s really coming into his own as a player. he’d be an ideal 4th C on a great team, and a. solid 3C on this team. Don’t see the top 6 upside there but he’s a league guy.
He is not there yet but I could see him eventually be like Pius Suter now.
Does anyone else think of Ash mispronouncing the magic words when getting the Necronmicon everytime they hear Raty’s name? “Aatu Raty..necktie!”

It’s probably more of a ceiling case than a realistic expectation, but I’ve always liked Anton Lundell as a comparable for Aatu Raty.
Like if Aatu Raty can become a poor mans Lundell, I would be stoked.
Someone on the canucks need to call Bo Horvat for his skating trainer when he was in vancouver. Raty needs it.
The 2C we’ve been looking for all along? Not really, but I’d give him more minutes and opportunity for sure. Shame his foot speed is an issue.
and he has one goal on the season for six points. I think this says a lot about this team forward group if Raty is one of best at anything.
You know what’s inherently weird? So many guys are playing well, and yet we still suck. Petterson, Hughes, Hronek, Raty, Sherwood, Garland, Willander and even Sasson and Karlsson have all looked decently positive.
I know we have injuries still, but the trajectory of this team is just weird. They don’t wanna rebuild, fine, but how does our ceiling actually get higher if most of the key guys are actually playing to their potential? Even if Demko and Chytil do come back and stay perfectly healthy and it’s all sunshine’s and rainbows finally, I really can’t see what there is to buy into.
