I have no opinion on Jay Mandolesi, I’ve always said this.
If someone is a holdover and stays with the team through multiple regimes, there’s a reason for that. Some people Mougey probably isn’t allowed to fire.
If you ever have to ask questions like this, the answer is always woody
We can all tell ourselves he was the mastermind behind the 2022 draft class and hope it’s actually true
You don’t do that Day One.
That’s way too much instability for the entire organization.
You do that after a year if you don’t like their work.
Now you’re comfortable and you get someone you can work with that you respect.
It would make all the difference I’m sure
Only so much you can do one offseason; these guys have contracts it’s not that easy to blow up a department.
As mad as it is…..we probably have quite a lot of staff who are good at what they do.
Who they are…..how would we really know as even the best read of us only really know about the top dogs.
He’s clearly not a good scout.
Say what you will our college scouting hasn’t been a huge problem since 2021. Obviously some big profile misses but we’ve still managed to find value in every draft and avoid major reaches outside of Z. Wilson. I think the jets issues are much more culture, coaching, and free agency related caused by an impatient owner.
I think most people have accepted that Jay Mandolesi is a member of the Illuminati and sleeper agent of a global cabal set on limiting the rise of the NY Jets.
Both and you correctly suggest if he were a Pat he’s be in the HOF.
FWIW looking at the last few years drafting/scouting has been solid outside of QB. There are not that many missed picks before the 4th round, and most of the worse ones have been bad injury luck related.
I do think they are really bad at late round picks, but I would not be confident that ties to any one guy specifically.
IMO the QB issues are unlikely to tie back to college scouting. The QB picks are so high profile that there are big names involved, all the way up to Woody, who are making the decisions there.
Burn it all down is a stupid mentality. *Decision makers* need to be purged, not every technocrat with niche skills.
Haven’t the jets drafted pretty well over the last few years?
It takes a few years to rebuild a scouting system so most teams do not totally clean house right away. Also no reason to do so. A new guy comes in and keeps the guys that seem to know what they are doing and gets rid of guys that do not.
They offered like a million buy outs. They did clean house
I think getting rid of everyone in one fell swoop provides too much instability for any organization. I don’t know anything about this guy, but he may be someone they get rid of this offseason
Because Mougey got hired in January and the draft was in April. You need scouts to draft and the time spent overhauling that department is time you’re not spending evaluating prospects.
This dude was promoted at the end of last season, he wasn’t even in this role during the 24 draft. It’s not like he has some track record of being bad at this job. I don’t understand being about this

Whoever scouted Zach Wilson needs to be fired asap.
Moug’s was hired too late into draft season to make this move. He’ll make a move later if they don’t gel.
