LaMelo Ball addressed yesterday’s headlines during media availability, saying “The source didn’t come from me. It’s falso info.”

Ball was later asked if he’s content being in Charlotte, to which he responded “I love being here”.

  2. For the love of god please don’t go 0-2 this weekend. I still think this is a play-in team with 50 to mid 60 games of Brandon and LaMelo.

  3. Nice to hear him come out and say it. Not sure he’s ever been that vocal about these rumors. I know we’ve lost some bad games but now would be the stupidest time to demand out. Kon alone should be enough to keep him around lol.

  8. No matter your opinion on if they should trade him and no matter what the outcome eventually is, this was a great and mature response from him that is in the best interest for him and the Hornets as a team. Good stuff.

  9. Sorry to be the Debbie Downer here but this feels exactly like when a GM or AD comes out and says “we’re giving (insert underperforming coach) a vote of confidence” only to fire them just a few weeks later. 

    What is he supposed to do? Say “I hate it here it doesn’t feel like it’ll work out for either side come get me please anyone rescue me” ? Any pro with a molecule of common sense knows they gotta say all the right things or else they’ll hurt their reputation in the eyes of other teams (and also chances at a massive payday in the future)

  11. And yet none of this will be blasted out by all those same accounts. And all these casuals will continue to make trades for him, call him dumb for thinking he has value etc

  14. I’m ok with the tank for one more year unless we seriously go on some kind of run like he says. Play these rookies to get experience, get a top pick next year and continue getting better. I just want competitive games this year which for the most part we have had that. Let’s build some chemistry.

  16. This is the most direct he’s been in addressing trade rumors, but something stuck out to me when he was asked “are you content here”. He kept mentioning how he himself didn’t say anything, as if he was shifting the focus of the question to the fact that desire for a trade didn’t come directly from him so it can’t be true. He did say he loves it here, I don’t want to misconstrue his words, but the body language doesn’t exactly match. I think at best this is him genuinely trying to quiet down the rumors because he wants to stay, and at worse I can imagine the team spoke to him and told him that he needs to address this regardless of his true feelings.

  19. please, please Hornets do not get rid of this man. As soon as he can get healthy, he will dominate. LaMelo and Brandon will dominate for years.

  22. My only question is what is Jeff Peterson’s role in all this?! Maybe nothing but still this is the same dude/organization that told you Mark Williams is part of the core 4 and then traded him around midnight right after a game.

  23. I believe him, but I hope the front office is not seriously entertaining the idea of trading him. Give the team time, we just got the rookies and he and Miller were out so quickly. That first game was magic when they all played together. Get everyone healthy and we will see it again.

  25. Love that the main excuse/argument for LaMelo is “oh man when he is healthy”… Lol. What an asset we have and oh man eastern conference watch out, we might get him for 30% of our games this year.
