I wonder if this signifies us moving someone from our outfield.
Rip King Kiz Daddy. He was DFA’d
This is another Grant McCray type.
This dude wrecked a few times when he was on the brewers I remember lol
Better start printing those World Series tickets. LOL!
This franchise is so unserious. There’s all these stars like Tucker and Imai on the market and we’re going after Joey fucking Weimar?
I misread this as Joey Wheeler
was this one of the guys who murdered us when the marlins beat our asses this year?
Not that Knizner was any sort of real obstacle there anyways, but makes room for Jesus Rodriguez to be the backup catcher next year if he has a decent spring.
Just someone else’s DFA candidate that we’re going to try to pass through waivers later ourselves and stash as depth in AAA
I like this move. Very low risk, high upside if he rediscovers his bat a little bit. Just another body to compete in camp with Gilbert, Matos, Encarnacion, and the other 300 outfield options we have at AAA.
Makes me kinda curious though. Although I would initially hate it if it happened, I wonder if Posey is kicking the tires on a Ramos for pitching trade. If it brought us back a front line starter, it should at least be explored.
We have plenty of Joey type players on this team…doesn’t make the team better.
I’ve seen him play, very strong build, strong arms, yet cant hit. One might even say he has a swing like barry
It’s a low risk shot to see if you can resurrect someone else’s failed (failing?) prospect. These moves happen all the time, and mostly fail, but when they hit, one GM is smart, the other is dumb. No need to get too worked up about it.
Claim another teams DFA candidate. Kick the tires, then stash them in AAA for depth. If we just do this once a week for the next 45 weeks or so, we are bound to hit on one.
Sam Huff and Max Stassi both elected free agency. If Knizer gets claimed they’ll have no catching depth. Not sure Jesus Rodriguez would win a a catching competition in spring training either: He never found a defensive home, however, bouncing between catcher, third base and the outfield corners. Rodriguez would maximize his value if he can catch on a regular basis, and San Francisco believes he can. He struggles as a receiver at times and needs more reps behind the plate, though he does move OK and has solid arm strength and a quick release. First base may be his only other viable option because he lacks range in left field and struggles with the speed of the game at third base.
Yea but he was good in college like the manager and pitching coach. Just what they need to compete against the super team.
lol, the good ole “cash considerations”. Possibly, a step up from a player to be named later.
Net positive on the batting side with “considerable pop against lefties” while last year’s roster struggled heavily against LHP’s

Fast, good fielder, can’t hit.
