Maybe we should have got Robert Reichel out of retirement instead

They had him playing center when he played wing with the hawks, now they’re mad and want to get rid of him before they even tried him in his natural position? Lmfao
He was a warm body when we needed one. A 4th rd pick doesn’t usually amount to much. Just look at how the class of 2020 is doing.
luckily a 4th round pick is also usually worthless, no harm no foul, maybe another team will want him and we can get something halfway decent for him.
We picked him up for free. A worthy trial now we say bye bye
I mean there is a reason why it only costed us a 4th round pick. Not sure what they expected
I don’t know what you or the team expected. Teams like Chicago don’t trade young players for fourth round picks just because.
It was worth a shot. Whatever. Beggars cant be choosers.
Reminds me of Erik Brännström, all the tools but none of the finish at the NHL level. I could see Reichel helping Abbotsford
Not worthless until you find out what you get from the potential trade!
As a Habs fan, there’s a decent list of “worthless” picks and players we snagged and flipped for gold over the last 5 years.
He was just what we needed at the time. A human being.
yea dudes been a stinker.
A 4th round pick is also useless so it’s a pretty fair trade.
Ya why is anyone shocked.
I did some quick research and [found this article by the Hockey Writers](https://thehockeywriters.com/success-rates-of-nhl-draft-picks/) from July. It covers the number picks in each round (plus each pick in the first round) who go on to experience any NHL success. This is what the article says about fourth round picks:
| **Metric** | **%** | **Count (n/1416)** |
|————————-|———|———————|
| 1+ NHL Games | 41.7% | 591 / 1416 |
| 100+ NHL Games | 21.8% | 310 / 1416 |
| 300+ NHL Games | 12.7% | 180 / 1416 |
| 500+ NHL Games | 8.2% | 117 / 1416 |
| 750+ NHL Games | 4.1% | 58 / 1416 |
| 1000+ NHL Games | 1.3% | 19 / 1416 |
| 1+ NHL Points | 34.5% | 489 / 1416 |
| 100+ NHL Points | 11.6% | 165 / 1416 |
| 300+ NHL Points | 4.3% | 61 / 1416 |
| 500+ NHL Points | 1.9% | 28 / 1416 |
| 750+ NHL Points | 0.6% | 9 / 1416 |
| 1000+ NHL Points | 0.3% | 5 / 1416 |
I submit this info to do with what you will. My only commentary is that a 4th rounder is not guaranteed to turn into anything of value, but I’d also push back against people saying the odds of a 4th being anything are “astronomical.” The league is full of good players drafted in the 3rd to 5th round.
No mention of what price they’re looking for….is Davidson a drinker? In a past era a CHI GM a few beers in would dial his VAN counterpart to offer a 2029 7th just for the lulz.
Low risk high reward move. I’d rather keep him longer personally.
I’m alright with the dude having a sheltered position on the team simply on account of the speed he brings. He has some okay positioning and I think he could find a niche
