BREAKING: 49ers, Brandon Aiyuk likely to part ways (Russini)

  1. After all the drama with the negotiations, him not playing well last year, the knee injury and now this…I’m just over it.

  2. Wouldn’t mind it if they are able to void his contract. Likely wasn’t going to be the same player after the injury and it would be a good way out of the contract

  3. “Aiyuk, sources say, has failed to attend meetings and declined to participate in other team activities in recent months, and the 49ers have grown increasingly frustrated with the receiver’s lack of communication.

The 49ers, sources say, responded by voiding the guaranteed money in Aiyuk’s contract for 2026, asserting that the absences amounted to a failure to fulfill his contractual obligations. Aiyuk, according to multiple league sources, told NFL Players Association representatives that he did not want to fight the move via an official grievance. That would clear the way for his expected release at season’s end.”

Thats the crazy part, they’ve voided some of his money already if this is accurate

  4. I hope the 49ers learn their lesson with holdouts and especially with WRs. Just trade them before the draft.

  5. For those saying Russini is always wrong, Mike Silver is also reporting the same information. He gone!

  6. The signs were there before the extension. Holding out for Max money and unfollowing the team on social media. Dude is just an absolute headcase.

  7. If true, we are dodging a major bullet. Relief from that contract is a blessing. He was never gonna be 100% back from that injury.

  8. If this is true, than good fucking riddance.

Holy shit this dude went from being loved by the fan base and if this is all true he’ll become one of the most hated. What a loser

  9. I wanted to trade him and pick up an old davante Adams. Just saying

What a shit idea to give him that contract

  10. I really don’t understand. He’s on a team with a very good young QB, one of the best offensive minded coaches in the league, frequent deep playoff aspirations, and really no clear cut #1 receiving option. Kittle is getting out of his prime soon and the only other receiver expected to be with the team long-term has been dealing with injuries his whole career.

I know talented receivers have to have big egos but is there no part of him realizing that he could just end up on the Jets or Titans with horrible QB play and no hope for deep playoff pushes/rings ever?

  11. Lemme get this straight:

    – he signed 4/120M with 76M guaranteed (probably the best day if his life)

    – he was starting to look like his old self again after a dogshit start when he shredded his knee and possibly his career

    – dude is AWOL for months

    – shows up early to the facility, doesn’t interact with teammates

    – pissing away the biggest contract of his life because he doesn’t show up

    – doesn’t reciprocate when ppl reach out to him

    – not even contesting the teams decision to yank the contract

Jesus Christ, somebody check this man for depression. I swear to fucking god, it’s probably even more likely than him just being a diva (which is also v possible). He suffered a vicious injury that few come back from right after signing a contract that’s largely incentive-laden right after losing a super bowl.

  12. Pearsall got shot and did his best to get back on time.

This guy got paid a shit ton and decided he doesn’t want to play here?

  13. I really don’t care what will the 9ers get from an Aiyuk package (trade or cap space). I just hope the franchise has learned its lesson and never values a diva again.

  14. Dude just handed the 49ers a Get Out of the Deal Free card. Being able to void all future guarantees, and he told the union he won’t fight it? That’s massive.

This is going to cost Aiyuk money. He’s not getting anything close to the same deal as a free agent next offseason.
