McMenamin: “LeBron can only miss 3 more games until the end of the regular season to be eligible for All-NBA. He’s been All-NBA for 21 years straight. The source I spoke to today said he’d rather Lebron skip back-to-backs, but we’ll see how that aligns with his plans to be eligible for All-NBA”

  1. I doubt he cares that much about any more individual awards to try and meet the minimum game limit

  2. that streak is toast whether he wants to load manage or not. playing 64 of the team’s next 67 games probably isn’t happening, he’ll miss some games with injuries, and iirc there is some safeguard in the rules where he can’t just pop into the game for 1 second, take a foul, and then leave and get credited with a game.

  3. At this point LeBron and his supporters should not be worried about being eligible for all star and all nba and instead they should be worried about maintaining his health

  4. I’m all for superstars in their athletic primes playing as many games as possible, but playing extra games just to be eligible for awards seems pretty insane.

That being said, it would be odd if LeBron played 65/68 remaining games since he never hit that participating mark as a Laker. I think injuries are going to make the decision for LeBron.

  5. I don’t think he even cares about that at this point.

His streak of 21 seasons straight will probably never be broken, especially with the new game requirement.

He is better off getting as much rest as possible. This team proved they can play without him. Rest up as much to be healthy for the playoffs.

  6. Can’t imagine in year 23 LeBron truly cares about all nbas. If people need another all nba nod to validate the guy then we have bigger issues here

  7. Lebron needs to chill in his biogenetic chamber until the playoffs. If the argument is legacy, a playoff run or two would do much more for his than more regular season domination.

  8. A championship with his son on the roster, means infinitely more to his legacy, than another all-NBA.

Plus, it’s simply not realistic to expect him to play back to backs.

  9. He’s got nothing left to prove as far as individual accolades. His only focus at this point is another championship.

  10. I honestly think it’s in the team’s best interest if he doesn’t get All NBA. Just hand the reigns over to Luka and AR and just do all the cerebral stuff that comes with 20 years of experience.

  11. Yeah not going to happen. The only chance is if they keep his minutes really low, but that’s not going to happen either

  12. Honestly, let him miss it if it keeps him healthy through the season + postseason possibly. 21 all nbas is already absurd, he can miss one.

  13. Bron should only worry about being 87 finals Kareem. Kareem coasted and leveled up in the playoffs. Lebron is so damn unique man. Jordan, Magic, Kareem all in a blender

  14. I don’t think anyone will break Lebron’s record of 21 straight. The longest active streak right now is Giannis at 9 straight. Giannis would need to get all-NBA every year until age 43 to tie LeBron. Jokic would need to do it till 45.

  15. instead of discrete 65 games played for the awards they should do to something like % of minutes played per game. I thought the NBA execs had a bunch of data nerds they use to come up with more useful metrics

  16. 21 straight all-nba selections is fucking nuts. I’m not even sure the Raptors have had 21 all-nba selections total.

  17. Lol he almost certainly won’t be getting it, missing 3+ more games out of 67 is all but a guarantee
