Leafs make PANIC signing… This is WILD | Toronto Maple Leafs News

This is getting out of hand as we have some big news to go over today as the Leafs have made a sneaky good move. But following yet another brutal loss, fans, media, coaches alike are in a panic. We have some wild new comments to go over from Craig Rubé following the loss. We’ll break that down as well as discuss how we now have some more clarity following the Leafs panic signing yesterday. A ton to go over on this episode. You want to stay tuned to the Yanks. There’s a lot of new details in here. Before we get into it all, if you’re a part of the percentage, you aren’t subscribed to the channel, this is a place to be for daily Leafs content. Darius, a lot to go over today. And obviously yesterday a brutal loss. But before that, there was of course a move that the Leafs made that some fans are claiming is a panic move. Others really like it. Let’s not waste any more time. Let’s dive right into it. The Toronto Maple Leafs have claimed defenseman Troy Stetcher off of waiverss from Edmonton and Stolars’s place on the IR. Now, the lease in general, they’re I mean rock bottom. They’re approaching it. Things are getting pretty crazy as it pertains to them trying to make trades. There’s rumors flying about that. There’s rumors flying about their next move. They made a move yesterday that I like. Some are saying it’s a panic move. I think it’s a very good move. Everyone who’s covered Troy Ster seems to say that he’s a professional and he’s a really solid defenseman. I like the move a lot and quite frankly, it’s one that he’s a competitive player. He’s a solid defenseman and he cannot be worse than Philip Meyer and probably even Simone Benois, both of which having atrocious years. I like it. Is it going to be the savior for this season? No. But they made a very sneaky good move here. Definitely. And I think that you’re right in that way that, you know, he’s definitely an upgrade over at least two guys in the lineup currently. So, I like the move in terms of that. Any move that they make at this point because of the way that they’re playing is a panic move. Anything that they’re doing is clearly to shake things up. I think there are moves coming and by way of trade and we’ll get to that later in the video. So stay tuned for that because Elliot Freriedman had some very interesting things to say last night because of the tension that is going on with the Leafs and the Leafs organization of course after a meeting on Monday and the fact that they haven’t won in five games which is problematic. But Troy Deter to get to that if you look at all the Edmonton media yesterday when he was claimed off waiverss by the Leafs they’re all devastated by that. And you know, a conversation I’ve been having with a lot of people over the last 24 hours about him specifically is a lot of people are asking, is he a needle mover? Is this guy going to make a difference? And in the grand scheme of things, no. But the one thing I really like about this player is that he’s a battler. This guy competes very, very hard. If you watched any Oilers game that he played in, whether it was the playoffs or the regular season, this guy competes and he plays hard. And I think the Leafs can use a little bit of that in the lineup right now. And not only that, if anyone watched the game against Chicago last night, what was Phil Myers doing all night, first of all, and especially on that first goal. He’s lost right now, you have no room for performances like that at this point. You need all hands on deck, and I think Troy Stetcher will help in that regard. This is a guy who comes in and he fights. Uh he’s a smaller player, that’s for sure. don’t look to him to put up crazy offensive numbers, but to me, the fact that a lot of the Edmonton media yesterday were saying this is a tough loss. It’s, you know, whatever situation they had to put him on waivers and stuff like that. But, um, they’re all in agreement that this is a tough loss for the Oilers. And I think that this is a good move for the Leafs. They pick him off waivers and of course they had the cap space to do it because David Camp’s contract got terminated the other day. Yeah. And he signed with the Canucks. And here’s a couple of media members say here, constant professional. Another one saying he’s small, gets less than 15 points a season, and somehow carved out almost a 600 game NHL career. Seven teams later, someone still wants him. We see here from Wilson Reander. I’m not going to pretend as Steter is some incredible needle mover, but there’s a lot of Edmonton writers disappointed. By all accounts, he was the ultimate competitor and he can help move the puck up the ice quicker. And I see some people on Twitter and things like that looking at his stats and saying, “How is this going to help them?” at least. I mean, they’re they’re getting point production from OAL, from Morgan Riley, to a lesser degree from Jake McCabe, even though he hasn’t had a great year defensively. They need some more. I mean, you mentioned Philip Meyer. It was really, really bad. And it’s at a point now where if you are the Toronto Maple Leafs, how do you possibly downgrade from Philip Meyer? There’s nothing against Philip Meyer as a person or anything, but he’s having a pretty bad year. And you look at the stats of of course that not going to be going to woe you away. He hasn’t obviously played at the Leafs yet. zero points in six games, but you can see the amount of games played and he is someone that has it. I mean, he’s a veteran at this point. He’s played a ton of games. He can provide some responsible defense and that’s what they need at this point. You cannot have stinkers like you had yesterday. I’m not saying he’s the only reason the Leaf lost that game. But anytime you can upgrade, you need to do that. And this clearly is. And it is important to note that when you see writers like this react, they don’t do that unless they actually believe the player is solid and that the player had a positive impact for the Edmonton Oilers or their respective team. In this case, they did. At the end of the day, it’s not the move we’re all waiting for, but it is an upgrade. Yeah, I think it is an upgrade. And I think you’re adding a guy that the Oilers kept, right? They went to backto-back Stanley Cup finals, and I know he didn’t play every game, but this is a guy that they kept around. He was in the locker room. He has that experience, stuff like that. So, to me, you’re not bringing this guy in for his defense or his offense. like he’s not a needle mover in that way. He just isn’t. And I think a lot of people recognize that. But the thing for me is the compete level. Just bringing a guy in who’s hungry, ready to get to work, and at least, you know, positionably uh responsible at this point because watching the Leafs lately, I mean, last night was better. It just was a better game, but obviously it’s a tough loss. But lately, the last five games or so, and I mean all season for that matter, a lot of the defenseman just look lost. Just absolutely lost. So, we’ll see what he brings. and not just lost in terms of, you know, losing position and losing their guy, just like not moving their feet. It’s the compete level thing. So, he’s going to come in hungry for this opportunity. So, I’m excited to see what he does. But, in terms of, you know, moving the needle, the problem is in the room and the solution is in the room, right? Any trade that they make, we’ll get to it in a second, uh, is not going to be a crazy trade at this point. Yeah, you can see Elliot Freeman mentioning that roster for roster players are going to be the and we’ll have a full video probably covering this tomorrow, the next day. There’s a lot of reports flying about what this could be, but Freeman reporting that they’re going to be I mean, we kind of knew some of this, but they’re not going to be getting rid of their prospects, at least at this point. And among the loss yesterday, you mentioned it, is Craig Breub in his hot seat. I mean, the question now becomes regarding a trade. Are they going to like move off of Buru before they make trades? I don’t think they’re going to fire, but the question now is even hotter than ever. Is Craig Brew seat hot after the fifth straight loss? And Joseph Wall, who made his debut for the Leafs this season, uh his season debut rather, was really good. I thought he looked pretty good in Leafs prior to this were 32-0 when he was leading through two periods. I mean, he said Morgan Ry, there’s a lot of belief in our team that’s powerful. You have Craig Breub even starting to mention now about positive reinforcement perhaps having it be one of the uh one of the things instead of negative, but you can trade all you want. You can look at potential trades, which we’ll certainly do. The team is not going to get fixed from one trade. And now even more fingers are starting to be pointed at Craig Buru, which I mean rightfully so, I guess, to a degree. Like this is really bad, but a lot of it’s on the players as well. I think it’s all mental at this point. I do like I don’t know what a trade for a top six forward that a lot of people are calling for and we’ve been talking about, but of course like it’s been out there. There’s rumors, there’s reports that they’re interested in that, so we’ve been covering it, but I don’t know what that’s going to do to fix like the overall problem and how they’re playing. I I don’t know. I don’t see how that fixes anything. Like the answer is in the room, right? like you have to find the solution in the room. And one thing that I noticed, especially watching last night and even the last couple games and the one against the Kings was horrible, a lot of people are talking about how Bru has to go because the dump and change or the dump and chase, excuse me, doesn’t work. But if you really watch it, they dump it in and nobody chases it. Nobody chases it or one guy does chase it and the other two forwards are lost. They’re not in the right position. So, I think it’s all mental in terms of they don’t actually think that they can win, which has been a theme forever at this point, especially in the playoffs. and the fact that they’re probably working on stuff in practice, different systems, and maybe they’re just not grasping it. And maybe it is on the coach a little bit and the coaching staff for sure, right? Everyone’s in it together, but I think it’s more of that than, you know, the team just sucks overnight all of a sudden, which a lot of people think that, you know, it’s Brewbase system and stuff like that. And the goalending did prop them up to a degree last year, but I mean, you can’t be this much worse. You can’t forget how to play hockey overnight, right? Because it’s still the instinctual stuff that they’re messing up on. Like Morgan Riley, like system doesn’t tell you when to pass, right? So, it’s uh it’s that type of stuff. So, I think they have to they definitely have to clean that up. And you have a great opportunity coming this coming week on Tuesday against a St. Louis Blues team that hasn’t been good either. So, we’ll see what they do with that opportunity. But, I think it’s just more of that. They’re not clicking right now. And I don’t know what, you know, making a big trade is going to do, but I do see them making a trade if things continue, but it’s going to be like what Freriedman was saying, it’s going to be roster for roster. That might shake certain things up, but you know, at the end of the day, you need your top guys to get going and lock in defensively. Yeah. The good news is Joseph Wall looked really good. Jake Cab spoke out about him. Phenomenal job. So hopefully that can keep on rolling. And uh Buru, he’s going to be I mean he is on the hot seat at least to fans. We’ll see what happens internally. Let us know what your thoughts are. Some pretty good moves. Lots of updates coming. We’ll keep you up to date every step of the way. See you guys later.

  1. In Brad rebuild and destruction here it comes… have no fear leafs are in good hands years of pains and sorrow continues….. lol leafs management trust Brad in this situation …. 🙀🙀🙀🙀

  2. They are rotating two injury prone goalies and using a scared 3rd goalie to cover the rest. The powerplay is 7th worst in the NHL. No team cohesion. At least last night I saw some puck control in the offensive zone. They are not making the playoffs this year at this pace no matter how sneaky good players that they bring in.

  3. how about addressing the big problem here when you continue to dump the puck into the corners what your doing is giving away the puck…and when you do it on a power play it takes away scoring chances..bring the puck over the blueline make a pass and shoot the puck on the net and stop the turn overs…make clean passes another thing is when your continuing chasing the puck because it's alway's being Dumped in your going to burn yourselfs out notice how tired they are by the 3rd period and ends up another defeat so STOP dumping the puck into the oppositions end everytime you have the puck

  4. The problem is the foundation. We built it off Matthews and he is always hurt or sore, in a bad mood or some other reason he cant play. Look at how many full season he has played. Its one im pretty sure.

  5. That's what happens when your not really playing and you just come in here and there they gotta get rid of reilly now he's just got no defense in his game at all

  6. a big misimpression comes from 'traded lots', in fact, with first team a regular right out of college, after a few years, always traded at the deadline.

  7. If anyone thinks that this guy is going to do anything for the Leafs, they are sadly mistaken.
None of the Leafs acquisition's they have made the last 1/2 a year or so, have done nothing for the Leafs, except continue the bleeding.

  8. this is easily THE WORST YOUTUBE CHANNEL IN EXISTENCE. THEY ALWAYS SENSATIONALIZE EVERYTHING INTO BEING 100 TIMES BIGGER THAN THE NEWS IS JUST TO GET CLICKS. THEY OFTEN SAY NOTIHNG FOR THEIR ENTIRE SHOW AND MAKE MOUTAINS OUT OF MOLE HILLS JUST TO GET CLICKS. THEY WILL ANNOUNCE A MINOR LEAGUE SIGNING AS A MAJOR MOVE FOR THE LEAFS. IF ANY CHANNEL IS FAKE NEWS IT IS THIS ONE.

  9. Everyone needs to relax and breathe a little and trust the process. The over reaching and freaking out and ship everyone out IS the reason we're in this position in the first place not having Marner who WAS this teams identity . People acted like they didn't care about Marner… trade him. But did they not watch the games? When Matthew's was out for a TON of games. The team still won… actually played super well. When Nylander was out the team played pretty well still. Now without marner the sky is falling a d the fans acting the way they do is the reason for that.

  10. Everyone just calm.DOWN we and Brad KNOW the leafs are missing a Top 6 forward. They know we're missing a top 4 dman. Teams like Florida. Never won 72 games a season they always just snuck in the playoffs and they let their big guys play. I think it will be similar here. Brad does still need to get a top 6 forward and a top 4 dman. And I believe he will closer to the deadline when prices are cheaper. There's no incentive right now outside season ending injuries for a team like Calgary to move a guy like Andersson, or a team like Pitt to move a Rust or Rakell once teams truly start falling out of contention that's when you'll see reliving make his move. Until then…. have faith and stop acting like the sky is falling and they're gunna miss the playoffs… they're gunna be fine.

  11. I just wanted to remind everyone what they themselves said last season. "THE REGULAR SEASON DOESNT MATTER" ITS what they do in the playoffs. So until we see what kind of team he brings into the playoffs or misses the playoffs then we can freakout until.then leave the jerseys on your back and your comments to yourself.
