Ernest Jones IV: “One Loss Doesn’t Define Us” | Seattle Seahawks

Ernest, what’s your assessment of how the defense played today? Not good enough. Didn’t get us a win. Yeah, not good enough. It looked like after some of the turnovers you were maybe kind of trying to pick some guys up when you go out on the field. How important is that connection between offense and defense when one side’s struggling? Yeah, I mean, you have to. I mean, regardless of what side’s struggling, we’ve all struggled at some point during the game and the other side’s lifted us up. So, that’s all I was doing. Just trying to do my best to keep the guys motivated regardless of what’s going on. Still a lot of ball left. Let’s keep going. They were able to hit on a few big runs early. Second half, you guys bottled them up pretty good. What adjustments did you guys make there in terms of how you guys We just fit it right. Um those what two or three runs, we didn’t fit it right. One, two of them, I’d say all three of them, I put on myself. Um any runs come through the middle field, those are mine. And I wasn’t where I needed to be. So, That’s how they get 60 some yards, six carries. Stafford has been playing arguably as well as he ever had in his career over the past month or so. What were you guys able to do to to break up his rhythm and make things hard on him? I think we were able to get some pressure um get a get a little pressure on him when he was, you know, moving on his throws. He didn’t have all time all day to, you know, move and get those throws out. I think the game plan we had um coming into the game was pretty pretty tight, pretty good one. Um, we just I think we didn’t execute early enough and didn’t catch up at the back end. How’ you feel physically? Feel good. Right now Sam said, “Hey, we got you.” What do you say to quarterback? I mean, Sam’s been balling. Like, if we want to try to define Sam by this game or what, man, Sam’s been had us in every game. So, for him to sit there and say, “Oh, that’s my fault.” No, it’s not. There was plays that defensively we could have made plays. There were opportunities where we could have got better stops. Um yeah, I mean like it’s football, man. He’s our quarterback. We got his back and got anything to say quite frankly. On that bigger picture, do you expect to see these guys even more than the once in Seattle? Say that again. Do you expect to see these guys again more than just the second game in Seattle? That’s our goal. Hopefully they on the same page as us. Is the bigger picture. I mean, there’s so much time still left in the season, so many games left. Where do you feel you are as a team getting as all that went wrong today and still coming within a play or two to win the game? Yeah, I think we’re a good team. We we we turned the ball four times and we lost by two points. We had a touchdown taken back and we Shahed is a a hand away from scoring another touchdown. So, we’re a good team. um we just didn’t execute and capitalize on and we had mistakes and you know they didn’t they played a clean game and they got the win. But as a team I think we’re in good shape. We’re still in in in a good spot I believe. Um one loss doesn’t define us. Got a lot of football left. Thank you. Thanks.

TIGHTENDS GOT AT LEAST 10 TO 15 YARDS OR MORE EACH TIME

  7. I thought what in the world Rams had great run and glad our guy is aware of the point and actually shut him down in the second half. If we could have stopped the run, this game was an another blowout game regardless of 4 turnovers.

  10. I❤ love brotherhood of EJ & Hawks.

    It feels like 2013 when Hawk's defeated 49s 2-1 on the way to SB victory.

    Hawks lost a very close game to 49s but got em in the vital 2013/4 P/O game.

    Hawks are still Kings of the road 11- 2 under HC Mac. We can go anywhere & win (even with injuries but LA & all other teams can't)

    Stafford did not play well after being mauled by a big cat 🦁.

    TV pundits blamed 1 INT on Barner. Other 3 were fine plays by Rams when Sammy was under pocket pass pressure from his under cooked back up OLC (who gets better with every game)

    Backup TE Kallerup penalty cancelled a K9 TD &

    a great play by Forbes cancelled a Shaheed TD &

    Cooperman Kupp was an inch from catching a great TD ( either of these 3 TD's wins the game ).

    Clock mgt will improve cuz Hawks have been winning past games by half time & were a bit clock rusty.

    Hawks needed a tight finish.

    Its only half time in a 2 game battle (possibly 3rd battle in P/O's).

    Hawks will win at Lumen in Dec.

    I'm proud of Hawk's.

    12s Lost 40% of OL to injury & were not clicking 100% as a result.

    Barnyard tush push tweak did not work & cost FG 3 points which mattered.

    Its OK for Sam to have 1 below par game against his bogey team.

    Sam is 21 – 6 currently. Thats MVP great QB play.

    But 50% of his defeats are versus McVay when LA have been much healthier than Sammy's OL.

    McVay was lucky HC KOC did a weak scheme in last P/Os & that Sammy had both Tackles injured.

    This time mcVay got lucky that Zabel & Sundell were missing in vital Q4.

    Hawks lost star OLG rookie Zabel in game Vs LA which is always tricky &
    also lost Sundell last week.

    Back up iOL need a bit of time to adjust whilst Zabel & Sundell recover & that's why Sammy was throwing a little less smoothly & a little slower.

    In 2013 & 2005 we only 100% clicked in Dec when injured stars returned per Nemhausser research.

    (Zabel, Sundell, Reed & Love will make a big difference when they return).

    I ❤ Sammy & he will return stronger & better. He just got impatient cuz half of his 6 defeats are versus McVay (since Sammy turned into a Montana Plunkett hybrid 2.0 in 2024)

    All QBs have 1 below par game in thier best season.

    Zabel Sundell & pro bowlers Reed & Loves returns will be amazing.

    LA are due a run of unlucky injuries (it happens to all teams).

    LA have peaked too early whilst Hawks are on starter's. Main meal is half cooked & will be ready soon.

    If Bo Nix can beat Mahomes. Stay positive 12s.

    FEELS LIKE 2013 & 2005. Do yo prayers 12s & believe. When experienced pro bowlers return the Hawks will click 100% & roll. I ❤ Sammy but not as much EJ & the Hawks ❤ Sammy.

  20. i said going into this game was “the one thing that can’t happen is darnold melting and throwing a ton of picks” 😂 thank all the gods available seahawks have the titans next week to hopefully prevent the skid.

  22. This is the exact kind of teammate you want and the kind that helps you win Super Bowls!
    Sam has shown he can play at the elite level and everyone has a day you make some mistakes but I thought Arroyo especially could've helped him out by coming back to the ball better.

    When your QB is under pressure you need to attack the ball and beat the defender to the spot better. Pretty sure the receiver coaches will be working on Arroyo and the guys on that especially on QB pressures.

    Having said that Sam will see different less dangerous options and will learn I have no doubt and it's definitely 100 times better to have this happen now and not when it really counts.

    I still 100% believe in Sam and know for a fact he can get the job done as good as anyone else out there.

    Next game vs the Rams Seattle will definitely win and win convincing.

  24. This all sounds good but F that. Sam is the reason the Seahawks lose games,. Every game they loss was because Sam turned the ball over. This sh*t needs to stop if this team wants to win it all. This is a SB defense with a QB that chokes in big games. He gave all the non believers everything they wanted to see. Thanks Sam.

  40. I have been a diehard Sam's fan since he was at USC, but I have to admit that I didn't have the nerve to watch the game and thought he might throw 2 picks, but not 4! If I were him, I would work really hard to re-learn decision making for the time to throw the ball!

    I really like Ernest speaking, with full confidence to win back in a few weeks! We really need this! Go Sam! Go Hawks!

  43. Mr. Jones IV! Love the way he is already to go play again. Not down in the mouth as my dad used to say. Nope. He's ready to go play right now. And he's right, they could've won this game and almost did. So glad he is on our team!
