no expectations, I'm just a Woll fan. Watching this:

I love the way Woll moves and plays/reads the game. Anyways, I noticed something interesting I never knew about Woll: Brother is a lefty catching lefty.

Most folks catch with their non-dominant hand – likely because they learned to catch at the same time they learned to throw and naturally wanted to use their dominant hand to aim the throwing of the ball, as the most critical task (you can "ballpark" a catch, but, a throw must be on target to a high precision, relegating your non-dominant hand to learn to catch). I don't think there are very many goalies in the league like this, and I'm ignorant to any of them but, I'd have to guess it's few.

It hit me when I saw him using the pencil how snappy some of his glove saves specifically were even last game against CBJ and I thought, no shit – take his athleticism and positioning into account and think about how his dominant hand is the one that has the most agency to aid him in precision saves and I think we've got ourselves a goalie who very well could stand the test of time. Look at the way this guy holds the pencil too, like his hand is still in the damn mitt.

I tried to see if it was common knowledge about Woll and did find a reddit thread from last year with a couple ex-goalies kind of saying what I figured:

Woll for president.

  1. I’d vote for him. If he were president maybe I wouldn’t have had to spend $27 in tariffs on the $45 left-handed bread knife I had to buy from Japan last month (true story).

Fun fact: serrated knives are only serrated on one side, so if you’re lefthanded and struggle to slice bread, the struggle is real my friend
