Victor Wembanyama MAKES HISTORY vs. the Bulls 🤩 What is the best version of Wemby? 👽 | NBA Today

[Applause] Shot clock going down guarding web [Applause] in the corner baseline. Got a buddy. Arrow got knocked down. Donovan Mitchell last chance. Mercy left. The lob for Wiggins. He did it. The heat win it. Looking. No timeouts left. The pass comes to Bane. Bane. He’s doing the buzzer. He thrills it. It’s magic on a Monday night. Last night has a case to be one of the best regular season collection of games. We saw the most game tying or go-ahad buckets in the final 75 seconds of the fourth quarter or overtime on any single day since 2007. And so, my friends, any one of these games could have started the show today. Where the heck do we start? So many good options. I mean, whammy going nuclear at the end. I feel like a basket with 4/10 of a second happens once a decade. So, does that mean we are going to start with the Miami? We vote Miami. We vote Miami. Well, let’s pick this one up in overtime here, Brian. One minute left. The Heat up by one. Hi. May Hawkins gets in the lane. Turnaround jumper. That was good defense. Miami up three. So, 6 seconds left. Still three-point Heat lead. How does he get the ball? How does Donovan get the ball? How does he stay in bounds? Gets it in the corner. Can’t get it to go, but Donovan Mitchell is here. Rebound, sprints to the corner, hits the three. That’s a one and 10 shot. What do you think? One and 10. One and 10 over the top of a closing Khil Wear. So, the game is all tied at 138. And we thought that we were going to have to make a cup of coffee and head to a second overtime. 4/10en of a second left. Heat inbounding. No. Andrew Wiggins on the cut for the gamewinning Alley. How about this pass by Nicola Yovic. It’s a it’s a great finish, but what a great pass. Play design. Here’s Folster. Had that play on my uh car listed as CQ for four years. Um so when it got to that point, um Quinny said, “Hey, we should run that.” Uh and I said, “You know what? There’s no better person than to diagram it than the one who came up with the dang thing.” He was not lying. Let’s break down the play. the gamewinner because that play was perfection. Look, the baseline is cleared out, the paint is cleared out by Hawz and also Norm Powell. But this right here is the real MVP. A beautiful screen by DaVon Mitchell to free up Wiggins so that he can have a cruise line all the way to the basket. Beautiful pass by Yovic. Y’all, I know we have one in football, but that right there might be the NBA’s version of a miracle in Miami. Well, Miami gets us started here and they get the win. But before last night, Chenet, there’s never been a twoameinning buzzer beater scenario in the same state. Well, all right, we stay in Florida here. Final seconds of the fourth quarter, game tied at 112. Drew Holiday, the inbounds pass stolen. Nice play by Paulo by Paulo Beno. So, magic ball. 1.9 seconds left. Here’s how it sounded on the broadcast. And he’ll get it into Bane. He’s going to jack it off. It’s Oh, good. He made it. He made it. He made it. You got to be kidding me. What a game. Despane a heap at the horn and it was true. Stranger than fiction. It’s only November. What a win today. I’m not going to ask you what you heard. What did you see? He was walling. Look. Lesson of the day. Screens may not be sexy, but they save the day. Watch right here. Wendell Carter. He sets two tremendous screens. one right here and then he extends to the opposite side to get Desmond Bane who by the way is shooting only 28% a career low from three. It does not matter. It is Bane time. Oh, I don’t I don’t watch the theater stuff but knock it down. That was a movie. A picturesque ending for the Orlando Magic. Hollywood ending for the Orlando Magic who get the win here. Let’s check in though on Victor Webbyama and the Spurs in Chicago last night. We picked this one up in the fourth quarter as well. WBY went nuclear here. Brian, I just want you to watch the people defending him and how helpless they are. They’re trying. He’s like, “Oh, Musvich is like, uh, oh boy.” Watch Vuvich on this play. Just watch Veovich. About a minute left. The Spurs down. There’s not much you can do about that. Yeah. Webby pulls a three and hits it. Game all tied at 114. 53 seconds left. Game still tied. Webby gets the block and then he’s in isolation at the top of the key. He lets us fly and I yell, “No.” And then this happens and I said, “Well, yes.” But Vanyava had 18 points, six of eight shooting, five rebounds in the fourth quarter. Chené, how the heck are you supposed to defend that? You guys know I call it prayer defense right here. This is the most unguardable player in the NBA. 75. What do you do with this? He puts your centers. Much on an island, hits you with an okie do fadeaway three. He had six threes on the night. Shot 66% from three. Unguardable. Unbelievable. It’s Weby’s world and we’re all living in it. Yeah. It may not be called the record book anymore. We’re going to start just calling it the book of Webby when it’s all said and done because he got another one. This time he’s the first player in league history with 35 points, 10 boards, five assists, blocks, threes in a game. Insane. And last night, Victor hits a season high six threes in the win. Now, this season, his attempts are way down, right? only four a game which is less than half than what he was shooting from deep last season. Is this the best version Brian? So what’s happened over the last week is teams are sending double teams at Victor because they know he’s going into the paint and he’s had a little bit of issues with that. So in this game he changes up and look at this. He says there’s a screen coming up. He goes, “No, don’t come up here Harrison Barnes. I don’t want to double team. I’m going to play ISO basketball.” That’s him making an adjustment. Now, I don’t think he should go back to primarily shooting threes, but if he can get an ISO situation like this where he likes his his foot position, do it. It’s the mixing up of the game. He doesn’t want to be shooting too many threes like last season. He doesn’t want to be shooting always in the paint like he was sometimes this season. He’s learning to mix up his game. He just defeated the Bull’s game plan there. Drill the dagger. This is probably one of the most rapid developments that we’ve seen of a player of his caliber, of his size, of his skill set ever. And I I I don’t know, maybe because I’m hungry, I think about how Thanksgiving is right around the corner. We all know he’s the main event. He’s the main entree, but that stat line is truly stuffing. It’s stuffing. Thank you. Thank you. What a night. It’s hard to believe we’re still in November, but today we’re officially 3 weeks into the season. Yay. Which means it’s time to check in with our weather reporter for a little windy watch. The four cities he’s watching closely. Brian, it was already snowing in Milwaukee over the weekend, but we’re not focused on that. We’re focused on the rim because I want to alert you to something that’s going on with Giannis Tennako this season. We know the guy likes to drive to the basket. He is taking it to a new level. He has 55 dunks in 11 games. 55. That’s an average of five and a half a game. Okay. Shaq, the most recorded ever in history is Shaq with three and a half a game. He’s averaging two more than that. Oh my god. All right, let’s go south. Obviously, you think I’m going to be talking about WBY when we talk about Oh, we building a castle. We’re going to talk about the guy who’s getting overlooked a little bit here. Stefan Castle. Last three games, guys. He has 37 assists. And Darren Fox has come back and he is still running the show. He has been terrific as their playmaker. Now, his outside shot, he made that one, been a little suspect, but his playmaking has been awesome. Let’s go to the desert, guys. Let’s point out that the San that the that the Phoenix Suns have won five of their last six games and Matt Ishbia promised and even made some uh little wagers that his defense was going to be better. Well, guess what? In this six-game stretch, they’re number four in the league in defense. They have been getting it done. Mark Williams, their offseason pickup, is doing well. Deon Booker is setting them up. Keep an eye on those Suns. They’re in a friendly portion of schedule. Now, the last one. How about the Orlando Magic? Now, they got off to a rough start down there in Disneyland, but Disney World, I guess, but the last six games, they’ve won four of them, and in that stretch, they’re in top 10 in both offense and defense. This is a team that has struggled scoring the ball this year, but they’ve gotten a little bit better. Desmond Bane with a big shot last night. Put them over the hump. They got a big game coming up with the Knicks. Are you going to do the Guitar Hero? You are good. Come on. Come on, Wendy. Come on, Wendy. Come on, Wendy. I’ll play the bass. There we go. Wendy’s coming in on the bass. And that’s Wendy. Watch. Now we go to Chenay with sports. Our big three last night. We had such awesome action. We saw the buzzer beers, but how about the dunks, Chenet? Coming at number three, should we give the rookie some love? Walter Klayton Jr., he finds fellow rookie ace Bailey. Yeah. Reverse backwards clean. That’s called dunking your way open. That is true. That is true. I like it. Double clutch. By the way, the Wolves are hot. I think they’ve won five or six. Number two, how about Slam Whitmore? Yeah. Going baseline for the huge two-handed slam and jamama here. Oh man, I saw this one. I was like, what? Yeah. How about a body? A baby body. A baby. Yeah. You know, like you didn’t drop to the floor, but itty bitty. That was all right. Well, that’s number two. Of course, we’re doing a double whammy here. When you have a dunk and a gamewinner, that’s going to be the number one play of the night. Andrew Wiggins, we go back. Benito Miami. I still don’t I still don’t know how he perfect play. And I know that’s like the Cavs nightmare. He was open by 8 to 10 ft on all sides. Like timing pass everything to perfection. Jeff’s kiss. The face of every single person on the Cavaliers knowing. All right. Well, that got our producers thinking of the best last fraction of a second tip in game winners. We’re going to start with Jimmy Butler. 2023 game tied at 95. Gabe Vince Bo again finds Butler on the inbounds pass Miami. You know it. One of the best nicknames. 2021 Western Conference Finals, game two. 0.09 seconds left. That scream right there. This is all you have time for. Chris Paul, he was sick at the time. He’s sitting at home screaming from his couch. And finally, 2017. 0.06 seconds left. Grizzly Suns. It’s the physicality of the Dunk. Drag on Bender. When’s the last time we said that name on this show? Inbounds pass to Tyson Chandler. The slam. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

  1. Was Castle the unanimous ROY winner in that draft class? He is certainly showing elite "D" in his second season,

Spurs weak link is their limp-wristed head coach. He hasn't shown negligible improvement since last season. Wemby-Kornet-Castle-Harper-Fox is my clutch time lineup. Castle had like 38 assists with 3 TOs the last three games.

  2. Forget quadruple double. One day he’s dropping the first ever octuple double 53 PTS / 14 REB / 12 AST / 11 BLK / 10 STL / 10 3PM / 10 DUNKS / 10 FTM

  3. I previously thought it was the most hilarious ridiculous and disrespectful cap from Wemby that he would pump fake ANY of his jumpers.

I just noticed for the first time in this clip with that three…no pump fake.

and I realized I think he does it 'cuz if he gets the opponent to jump…that feels more challenging to him? Lol

  4. The problem with guarding Wemby on the perimeter is that you can't have a center on him, who doesn't know how to guard guys on the perimeter. You need to put a guy on him that is used to guarding guards. You have to take away the 3 point shot. But at the same time, you prefer him taking a 3 over taking a 2. To play against Wemby, you need a defense oriented guy who can pick him up at the half court line and completely harass him, like be in Wemby's shorts, like how Scottie Pippen and Gary Payton used to guard. Expect him to launch a 3 pointer from anywhere past the half court line. Guard him like he will take a pull up jump shot from anywhere. Most centers can't guard like that, they are used to being in the paint and guarding a post-up guy. Or guarding a pick and roll. ISO ball at the 3 point line? Sheeeeeet…

  5. As a GENXer who watched Jordan emerge and dominate the game to become the GOAT…I have never prayed for a young athlete as much as I pray for WB1…to witness the next GOAT emerge is a true blessing.
