New York #Jets Offseason Predictions & Week 12 Picks (FULL BADLANDS)

What’s up everybody? Welcome back to your favorite New York Jet subscription podcast, Badlands. I’m your host, Joe Kaparoso, Saturday AM 12-pack. A very special hybrid edition with TOJ Pod, TOJ talks, however you want to classify it. Will Parkinson, we’re going to talk Jets Ravens. Are you going to Jets Ravens on Sunday, you sicko? Are you going? Uh, I was supposed to. Um, the the wife has the Christmas decorations planned for Saturday, so I’m uh tough but fair. tough but fair. Um, also all my brothers went to OU Missouri, so we were supposed to do a family outing. That is not happening now. Mostly in part due to the Jets being two and eight. Yeah. It’s hard to convince. It’s hard to give I can’t put myself in the doghouse for that. Understandable. You got We got to pick our battles here. Save it for next year or two years from now when they’re eight and two at this point and we we could go we could go from there. Let’s let’s go through 12 things for the game rapid fire and we can let that kind of devolve into any other bigger topics around the team right now. I’ll as I’ve been doing with the 12-pack, I’ll get right into this off the top. I don’t think the Jets are going to win this game. However, I do think they will cover the last line I’ve seen is 13 and a half. I kind of I kind of feel this like might be a slightly higher scoring game like maybe like a 30 to 20 where the Ravens are moving the ball up and down the field but kick like three field goals instead of getting up into the high 30s. They’re also not like the Ravens the way we’re used to them being. They’re not that same team but I can’t even with Tyrod under center I can’t get there. So I’m leaning towards Jets lose Jets cover over. Does that all generally track to how you’re thinking about this game? What is the overunder right now? So, like is it like 45? I gotta look. It’s it’s it’s probably it’s whatever whatever it is. It’s not a prime bet for the weekend in the NFL slate. The Jets Ravens over over under. Of course not. It’s going to take me nine hours to Oh, okay. 44 and a half. I think the over. Yeah. I don’t know. I feel like the Jets like they scored 17 points with Justin Fields last week or like they scored a couple touchdowns. Like they’ll they’ll get into the end zone a couple times now. Yeah, I I’m leaning towards like 2712 something weird some weird like four folk field goals. Yeah. Or something or like they you know it’s 20 to 20 to seven or I don’t know somebody to six whatever some some stupid like score line where like they go for two to cut it to a one possession game. and they miss it and then the Ravens go down and score anyways and doesn’t listen I I don’t this one’s just a weird game because it’s really like they look the Ravens were horrible last week like they could not if Shidor didn’t come into that game I think they probably lose. Yeah, they probably lose. Lamar was as bad as Lamar’s going to play. Um he’s been hurt all year. He’s frankly not been very like his stats are good, but I don’t feel like we’ve seen like the Lamar we’re used to where he’s an MVP favorite every year. Um, and on top of that, it feels like it was the hamstring, now it’s the ankle. He’s, you know, usually gets a case of poopy butt h, you know, at least a couple weeks a year. So, um, there’s just a lot going on with them. And I don’t I don’t know. And it’s one of those things with the Jets, it’s like you just do they have enough horses at this point? that’s this early in the year. And again, I know it’s only a few guys, but the problem is they were such a topheavy roster going into the year that it does look a lot different when Garrett, Quinnon, and Sauce aren’t there for what, you know, my reasons. So, yeah, this feels like a could be a fun kind of spunky game. It’s just frustrating because like last week everyone was on board with winning and they obviously lose. This week, this will be the week that they somehow have a big upset and like half the fan base is pumped and the other half is like, “Fuck you. We should have lost.” And it’s like just be all of the seven games remaining. By the way, like the Atlanta game in particular after this is just going to be a tank war all week because the Jets have a great chance to win that game because Atlanta stinks. And Cousins is going to be playing outside in Metife on November 30th. And I’m probably I’m unless something crazy happens this weekend, I’ll probably be picking the Jets to win that game for better or worse. But you’re right that the next seven games of fighting about the pros and cons of winning and losing where regardless of how everyone roots, it’s not going to impact the outcome is just going to dominate dominate the discourse. I again make your piece with the Jets winning two more games this year and probably picking fifth, sixth, or seventh. And if they end up picking slightly higher, great. If they end up picking slightly lower, you know, not as great. But don’t be shocked. They’re not going to lose out in my mind. And maybe this will look stupid. I just don’t see them losing their final eight games this season after winning the backtoback in the middle of the middle of the year. I will say one prop bet I do feel very strongly about is if he can get over on AD Mitchell targets over on AD Mitchell receptions and yards. I know he can’t catch. Yeah, I know he’s going to drop a couple. Tyrod loves zeroing in and throwing to his lead receiver. You could hear Tanner Angstrand talk about AD Mitchell this week. They’re going to treat him like he’s Garrett Wilson. They’re going to throw him 12 passes. He’s probably going to drop two, but catch, you know, seven. And just from an opportunity perspective, you could get great value on him, I would guess, across the board. Like he feels like five for 75 and maybe a touchdown even with a couple mental errors because I just that’s how Tyrod plays. Like he’s just going to lock into Mitchell. And it feels like right now like Mitchell’s the one, Mchi’s the two, and Isaiah Williams is the three. And I don’t know if I see them shuffling that the rest of the way. What do you think? Yeah, I feel that same way. I think that’s probably the right approach. Again, I’ in a lot of ways you’d love Aryan to be your three just because you want to see what you you’ve got in them as well. Um and with Tyrod, you know, Aaron for, you know, better or worse, got a few targets in the Bucks game, uh you know, specifically. And um you know, look, he took those deep shots I talked about yesterday on the pod, but like he took a couple deep shots at Josh Reynolds. Like hopefully those go to AD Mitchell and he’s able to, you know, he’s a big contestant catch guy. like hopefully he goes up and catches those this week, right? So, he’s just one of one of those guys that Meti is going to be like this solid, I don’t know, for a Jets reference, he’ll be very like Jameson Crowder-ish where it’s like he’s kind of always open. Um, he’s like Curly, quicker. Yeah. Quicker than fast. And again, he’s still fast, but like very shifty dude, you know, again, very reliable, but you’re not going to be throwing him go balls, you know, left and right. where AD Mitchell’s very like I don’t want to call him Steven Hill because I think that’s extremely like unfair to even Matchy who’s I mean even Mitchell who has like had an up and down career but he’s just going to be very like some weeks he’s going to have it and he’s going to be fully locked in and you’re going to be like holy crap like the Jets might have found a guy and then other weeks like last week you’re going to be like this is so frustrating if you put I don’t know like pick your guy Isaiah Davis in in AD Mitchell’s body like they’re the best receiver on the planet, right? Like, yeah, there’s just part of that. So, yeah, they should pepper him with targets. I I hope that Bree Hall gets eight targets and you know, Meti gets six and two to go to Aryan Smith and kind of guys playing a little bit of roles you could see them playing in the future, right? like almost treat this next seven or eight weeks as like game two of the preseason now where it’s like get full, you know, prove it. Like prove why you deserve to be on this roster and instead of being on the roster for the regular season, you know, going into the regular season. This is for 2026. Like why why are we why should we not draft somebody to replace you? Why should we not sign somebody to replace you? Same goes for linebacker safety. Like I’m good on Tony Adams reps to be honest. Yeah, we’ve seen it. play play Dean Clark. Why not? Can’t hurt. Is bad. Is he good? He’s probably bad. Same with the Brady Cook. And same with a lot of these guys. They’re probably, but like honestly at this point, I’d rather see Tyler Baron than Michael Clemens. Only from the aspect of like he’s a draft pick. There’s a better chance he’s here next year in terms of like just they drafted him. They’re going to try to give him as many chances even if he doesn’t deserve them. I don’t know. Does the light ever come on? Probably not. There’s like a 90% chance it doesn’t. But you know who Clemens is. I don’t need I don’t know as much. I don’t really want to beg for Tyler Baron reps actually. Now I think just don’t play either of them please. I’m good. Uh I do think my guess is we get a pretty good Breeze game. I think the Ravens defense hasn’t been good. The Jets will have more of a credible threat of throwing the football and Tyrod could throw a screen pass. So I could see Bree having a decent game today. Yardage wise or Sunday. Yardage wise I could see him having three or four catches. I think Breeze, knock on wood, stays healthy healthy. he’ll finally get over 1,000 yards. He’s only 280 away with seven games left, so he he should get there finally. Uh so again, I think the Jets are going to move the ball and probably score more points than Vegas is projecting them to. I just and Dan did a good job of hitting on this today and bucks a trend. It’s a bad matchup for this version of the Jets defense against Baltimore. Even if Lamar isn’t Lamar, like they’re going to really struggle, I think, to stop that offense, which again, it’s not a great offense, but Lamar will do enough where I think the Jets will have some okay offensive stats, but I’m not I’m not seeing this matchup work for them. Now, I could see McDonald and JJ grabbing a sack in this one just because Lamar sometimes will, you know, he’ll be running around behind the line of scrimmage a little bit. He could come and if he’s not healthy, he’s not going to be as elusive. Could luck into one or two, but I don’t know. this I don’t love this version of the defense against Baltimore. How how do you think the reps are even going to like generally shake out at linebacker and in secondary? It feels like is going to play and be a go is the latest were trending, but what are you expecting from this group after a pretty ugly outing against the Patriots? It wasn’t pretty. This this going to be like kind of the I would assume the Cleveland game pre pre uh prejamin Sherwood killing Isra Thomas. It’s going to be like pick your head up, man. pick your head up and not not be late on reads so that you don’t kill uh you know a guy that you want to have as a starter for the next couple years. But yeah, I think outside of maybe like I don’t know Dean Clark over Adams, it’s going to be Brownley uh you know Stevens and Thomas as your corners and it’s going to be Quincy and Sherwood as your backers. It’s going to be depending on health and how many reps but like a lot of Briggs and Phillips. It’s going to be a lot of JJ and you know I think they’re going to have to be able to find a way to use JJ even if like they don’t love him against the run and I get it and the whole thing but against the Ravens like you need that athletic you know speed on the edge otherwise the Ravens are just going to run read option at Michael Clemens for four hours and it’s like it’s pretty it’s going to be tough to watch. Yeah. Other than that like you want to see some of the young guys but I feel like it’s on offense where there’s the such a weird concept. The offense is so bad, but the the fun parts of the team right now are on offense. Bree Taylor, depending on how you feel, Mitchell, Mechie, like Isaiah Davis, the offensive line. So, yeah, defensively, this is going to be like a lot of probably Ben don’t break. Can you punch a fumble out? Can you do you get a lucky Mark Andrew drop on third down that you know, that’s like kind of what you’re Yeah. I don’t know. I remember that they played them on Thursday night like four years ago, five years ago. with Darnold. Darnold where it was like 42 to 21 or 4228 or something where like the score wasn’t as bad and like Sam had some fun moments and the offense and he had a really close touchdown on Robbie Anderson and maybe with a crowder also but like the defense couldn’t get a stop. It’s not going to be quite that level but I do think there’s like a a small possibility we get 35 24 there’s also a possibility it’s just 17 to 10 and yeah it’s just like an ugly it’s exactly what Browns you know Browns Ravens was a week ago. Yeah, the Ravens again, they are not they have not been good this year. They’re not healthy. They’re not The AFC, as we’ve seen sort of across the board, is particularly weak this year. I think the Jets will continue to play well in special teams. I expect Folk to make all his kicks. I expect Isaiah Williams again. Of course, it’s unbelievable with I just he cannot stay healthy, which is a shame because he’s excellent when he’s healthy, but you have to just work under the assumption that he’s going to miss half the season every year. At least our guy Isaiah Williams is a competent returner now. So you have him to pop in. And I I expect the Jets, much like the Patriots game, to be to show up in these games, right? I don’t think we’re going to see a repeat of the Dallas game the rest of the way. I think they’re going to come out be in the game in the first half, be in the game into the fourth quarter, and eventually like Baltimore will pull away. Of these next four, I I think they’re going to be in all of them. I don’t think they will win this one, but Atlanta, Miami, Jacksonville, and the next three after that. Jacksonville is a very jackal and high team. You know, we know what the flaws are. They either lose 35 to7 or win 35. Yeah. And we know what the flaws are with Atlanta and Miami. Like I I expect the Jets to win one or two in the next month. Um I don’t necessarily think this will be the one. And of course, we got to spend our time now the rest of the way rooting against the uh the Colts, the Cowboys, and all the usual suspects. I mean, as it stands right now, what do what do you think the final record is and where do you think the draft pick lands? I still think like it’s somewhere four and 13 or five and 12. Like I they’re going to get of dangerously close to that Vegas number. They’re going to win one or two games people are pissed at. They’re going to lose one or two games people are pissed at. Like this is just kind of how it goes. Like this is the NFL. We’ve seen the movie before. They’re they’re not. I know everyone, you know, all the doomers, oh, they’re just as bad as the Titans. They’re not. Like the Titans are historically bad. They have the one win, which is hilarious to like look back at. They’re historically bad. U the just team’s not good. I’m not telling you they’re good at all, but like we I don’t I just to me this is a classic. I think they’ll beat they’ll beat Miami. Um as much as Miami is like Tua kind of owns them, which is insane. Like looking at his career like I don’t know. This feels very much like a I don’t know Metife in December in a couple weeks and it’s 41 degrees and pouring rain and like and you’re there freezing it down there obviously like the main uh December 7th come say hi beautiful. No, I I think they probably beat Atlanta, especially now with the way Atlanta’s likely not going to have um you know, not going to have London. They’re not going to have Pennix. They’re already a mess on its own. Like yeah, again, another indoor team in Metife in December. We’ve seen this story before. Or I think you were at that I don’t know if were you at that game the the Simeon uh Tim Bole game that was that was one of the most depressing games I’ve ever been to in my life that in the cold rain the Rogers year like the first Rogers year and they still almost won somehow. The game was like close late. That was a a sick Yeah. I think they maybe win those two and then they beat one of New Orleans. I think I don’t know they’ll probably finish the year three and three and we’ll go oh they finished the year five and five. Yep. And it’s like we’ll forget that they get steamrolled by Buffalo in week not 18. And that’s gonna be winning in for Buffalo. It would be kind of I know people will be pissed about it because it’ll I’m sure it’ll be take them from picking second to picking seventh. It would be kind of nice to have some 205 revenge of like put to bed the AFC like six years in a row, the whole thing. Like there’s a very small chance that it would happen. But yeah, I guess I think they end up picking I think they end up picking fifth and they finish four and 13 is kind of where I’m going to settle. So if they’re picking fifth, I I think that’s a safe guess. And I think at this point, I don’t expect and this could change a ton. I don’t expect either Mendoza or Simpson to be there at five. I think among the four teams, even if at one of them is the Titans, they’ll be trades. And I think if you’re just sitting pad at five, you would not assume you’re getting one of the two quarterbacks. You’re not going to assume Moore is going to come out and push one of the two back. I think we’ve I don’t know if we’re all on the exact same boat on this, but I don’t sense a heavy sentiment where we’re like, you have to trade up for one of those two guys. Now, look, maybe they get hot the next like month and you’re like, holy [ __ ] like this is one of them went on like a run and like you should actually do that and the draft board breaks in a way where it doesn’t cost that much. So, I don’t want to fully write off that happening. I just say as of recording this today, it feels kind of unlikely they’re going to end up in a position where they draft a quarterback in the first round. I’d say it’s more likely than not. Now, that’s like a 7030 thing. I could see that flipping and changing. I guess what would be a curveball that would change that equation right now where they do end up drafting one of those two guys or somebody else in the first round because they have two first round picks. H how do you see that kind of playing out? Okay, they pick fifth and they pick 26th uh with the Colts pick. H how would you see those being handled as of right now? Yeah, I would be if you’re a Jets fan right now, I would be a massive Jacksonville Jaguars fan because if y the Jags have I think they control their own destiny. They still pay the Colts twice, right? They still play the Colts twice. The Colts never win in Jacksonville. The Jags make the playoffs. Even if the Colts finished with 13 wins and somehow missed, I making it up, but like they miss the playoffs and they have this amazing record. They finished 11 and six, 12, whatever it is. And that’s not good enough to make the playoffs. That picks, I think, 18th. Yep. Right. Like now you’re talking about two top 20 picks. I think the wild card is Jade Mava plays beats Oregon this weekend and goes on a little bit of a run here where he’s probably the Jackson Dart type of guy in this class. Not same player at all. like literally could not be any different. But just that guy that like gets steam all draft season and people start mocking him in the top 10, but he’s really probably a prospect that’s best going and picks 18 through 40 and however you evaluate his, you know, upside and he, you know, he comes out because USC gets a portal quarterback, whatever it is, like a lot of things have to kind of break for that to happen. But like that’s the the Jets walk away with three first, you know, they use one of their second rounders and a future two to move up and it’s like, wow, the Jets got their quarterback and two receivers. The Jets got an edge rusher and a receiver and a quarterback. Whatever that like kind of curveball is. I’ve just to me I don’t I feel like this is kind of simple and maybe I’m just talking my ass on November 21st, but like if those quarterbacks aren’t there and they don’t love a guy, you’re probably walking away with a number one receiver to go compliment your other 1A receiver. Uh or you’re walking away with a generational safety. You’re walking with a generational weapon X player that can be an edge rusher, a linebacker, whatever it may be. All these are huge holes on your roster. Yeah. And like you’re going to be able to plug multiple holes uh on your roster in round one, multiple holes in round two. You have a ton of picks on day three that we’ve seen the Jets, at least this regime already go, “Hey, like let’s flip this for a veteran. We have the cap space. The Jets are going to be in a spot, Joe, where like every big veteran that’s being moved around the draft, the Jets are going to be linked to because they’re, oh, the Jets picked up this receiver for a fifthrounder. How why did he only go for a fifth rounder? Why is Antonio Holmes going for a fifth rounder? Well, he threw a drink in a girl’s face and he’s making 12 million bucks a year. Like, that’s the stuff that starts to happen. And they’re a prime candidate for a boatload of day three picks and future draft capital and a ton of cap space. You can be the team that takes on those contracts NBA style. Um, and I just I don’t think we can rule out like why are we positive they want to like to draft somebody? I think everyone’s just assuming that’s like they have to draft someone. They clearly feel like they have job security. Joe, they traded two of the most the number probably one and two or number two and three jersey sales guys in the Oregon. Like Woody’s wearing the sauce chain like Glenn walked on campus and three months later extended him and then traded him. So I just that’s why my curveballs like they’ve done a lot of curveball stuff already. I don’t know why we’re like assuming that they just have to take Fernando Mendoza because he he had one clip about a layered coverage coverage throw or they they can’t take Fernando Mendoza. They have all this time. Like they’re somewhere in the middle here. Yeah, it’s it’s still early. I I I feel the same thing. They don’t have to force it. Now, look, maybe they end up picking third and Mendoza is there and he closes the year strong and we’re like, “Yeah, okay. It makes sense.” And like, “Sure, let’s go for it.” I I don’t think you need to be so firm at this point where it’s like a disaster if they take one of these two guys or they absolutely have to. There’s just a lot of time left. There’s seven games left. There’s a lot of college football left to be played and like you said, they need help in the defensive front seven. They need another receiver. They need a safety. Like this is a roster that’s also a world where like they lose out and they pick second. Yes. I mean, there absolutely is. And they could be competitive. Shador plays really well. Probably not going to because he’s very bad. But like there’s a world in which the he gets the Browns ownership who just like the Jets lets the fans play a large part in what they do. Chidor is just good enough to earn himself another year. Now the Browns aren’t taking a quarterback. The Giants aren’t taking a quarterback. Oh, the Raiders aren’t the Raiders finished the year three and three, even though they’re also awful. And Pete’s going to get another year and he does. He wants to do one more year with Gino and like now a sudden nobody in front of you is taking a quarterback. And it’s just like, you know, the Daniel Jones draft where like I know people are going to roll their eyes at it, but like that’s it was Kyler and then a bunch of people didn’t take quarterback we thought we’re going to. So, just saying like until we know where the pick is, freaking out about whatever happens at the quarterbacks does you no good cuz you have no idea where they’re going to pick. You just don’t. You just got to wait it out. And which is impossible, which I know is impossible. And look, the Jets are beyond the draft. Like you said, they will be active in free agency. They can be creative in how they spend money. All these questions come like, well, should they sign AVT? Should they bring Myers back? I’m like, do both. They have enough money to do both. Bring AVT back. Bring Me Myers back and draft a guy on day two. Why not? you have the money to do it. Pay Bree’s two or three year contract. Spend the money that you gave up. And even all the money they have sunk into Rogers and Fields, it doesn’t matter. They’re still not paying that much money leaguewide comparatively in the head on this real quick. Can I hit on the Rogers thing because it’s come up a lot in the Discord? The cap the great cap uh debate. It comes It came up on the Discord. It comes It’s come up on ESPN radio like nine times. It’s interesting that this week is the week. It’s just became a topic again. So there’s there’s a lot of different things going on. I will tell you from what I understand, asking a bunch of cat people around the league, including friend of the show Brad Spielberger and and Jason would would attest to this and a bunch of people that are in the league also the same thing. The Jets essentially had to pay off a credit card bill. Had to pay a bill. They could have used a debit card or they could have used a credit card with a really low interest rate and that they were going to get a better interest rate if they did it paid it over two years as opposed to paying it over one. It’s the same reason they did it with Mosley. It has no effect of cash. It’s just the cap’s going up. They’re using inflation for the reason that why they split it over two years. So like the percentage Rogers would count against the cap. It just it’s a lower percentage if you split it that way. That’s a b a huge reason that them trading sauce and Quinnon is such a big deal is it’s physical cash the Jets now have to spend in this upcoming year. Like the cap hit. Yes. That’s what everyone focuses on. the physical cash, the huge signing bonuses, the huge I think Saucer is doing another $13 million cash bonus. That’s money out of Woody’s pocket like right away, which means he’s not going to go spend it on a big free agent, which you have to give these big bonuses to, right? Like that and the guaranteed money and all that stuff. So, I just want to hit on that because like it’s I was frustrated at the time at the Rogers decision, but in hindsight, it makes sense because like this year was an abject disaster and yes, they could have eaten it and I get all that. The more the thing I’d be more annoyed is like the Fields contract. I would have just tried to keep the money. Yeah. And they also probably don’t end up with Phillips, Briggs, Brownley, guys like that if they don’t if they don’t split the Rogers money. So that’s why I just want to hit on it because it’s it’s come up again a lot. And there was a couple radio hosts this week that were like the Jets wouldn’t have had a cap hit if they keep Rogers. Like now they’re eating all this money. I’m like I don’t know what what the [ __ ] you’re talking about. That’s not how this this is working at all. So I just I had to get that off my chest. I I expect Fields to be cut post June 1st. just I think they’re just going to want they tried it’s done. It’s clearly like the vibes are off. Is there a world in which they can flip flip him? Does some team do it half thing and like maybe do they convince I don’t know. Do they convince Baltimore like we’ll eat half the money so it’s only like going to cost us 5 million bucks or 10 million bucks next year? It’ll cost you 10. It’s not impossible. Take take our fifth and and we’ll take your seventh rounder and like the Jets save money that way. I don’t know with with how creative Mushi has been with his trades. I I don’t think it’s impossible. And I I don’t know what it was, but something happened to Muji in that front office like the first week of August where they’re like, I don’t know, some switch went on. He’s like, we’re going to go get Nick Faulk, we’re going to get Phillips, we’re going to get Briggs, we’re going to get Brownley, we’re going to, you know, trade Michael Carter, we’re going to trade Sauce, we’re I mean, the volume of transaction they’ve had since then has been insane. I think most of it has generally been positive, but it’s like it’s like two different people. I I don’t know if it’s a new consultant. What’s the theory? My theory is and again I’m taking I think I’m going to take a victory lap here and this is not even like a good victory lap. This is just I talked about this a lot where like I think they truly and I I guess I didn’t know it at the time and I don’t think any of us really it’s really truly year zero for them and which is the way they’ve acted and people can be mad at it, happy with it. It doesn’t matter. That’s just let’s be honest like that’s what they’ve done. Meaning, I think they said, “We’re going to give the whole spring and the whole summer to let these guys prove they deserve to be here.” And honestly, through the deadline, like, who’s our guys? Who’s not, who fits our scheme, who doesn’t? And you can say that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Again, it’s open to debate. I am not giving an opinion on that. I just think that they sat there and said, “Cool, we have a couple young kids that are kickers. We’d love to have a 21-year-old kicker.” Those guys stunk, right? Like, and they’re like, “All right, like we need to go make an adjustment.” We we would have loved if some of our free agent signings we brought in uh you know and coward and Nandi and these guys like could have been one year stop gaps and I think they got there and were like these guys suck and it’s like oh maybe let’s go back to and again I I wish they would have been a little bit more proactive but like even the the Mitchell situation right where like met where it’s like the Jets had the deal with the Eagles done for three or four weeks with Michael Carter like as soon as they got Brownley it was over but then they were like hey like I don’t know, let’s take a shot. We had we had a decent grade on Meti coming out and things like that. That’s just my theory is they were like, let’s give them a ton of runway. Yeah. And these guys can kind of make the decisions for themselves. Now, I don’t agree with all the guys that have gotten the runway. I think we all like are not the happiest with that, but even Fields, it’s like think they were just kind of sitting there like, let’s do this until the wheels fall off because we’d love to get every, you know, every bit of chicken salad out of the chicken [ __ ] that is Justin Fields. And it just it got to the point now where I think it’s they can’t they couldn’t do anything. That’s just my Yeah, that’s just my guess on like kind of why they appro why things change so rapidly right at the end of the summer. I think it the theory tracks with how we’ve watched this played out. I think they feel comfortable with their job security and I think they wanted more data and more time. They were hired kind of late in the offseason and they’ve been very proactive in starting to reshape this roster. I mean even this week they’re adding defensive tackles. They’re going to be I think it’s going to feel like the preseason the next seven weeks. They’re going to be playing everyone, rotating a ton of guys through and just getting as much tape and data as they can. And I expect them to be very active in the offseason in terms of letting go of people, trading away people, and continuing to sign and trade in new people. This roster is going to be basically totally unrecognizable by this time next year, which is not a bad thing because they’ve been terrible for a long time. What percentage What’s your percent of this opening day roster this year versus opening day roster next year? What percent? It’s going to be I mean it’s going to be like it’s going to be like 10 15%. Like I don’t think both of I mean you look at Sherwood and Quincy only one of the two of them are going to be back. Maybe both of them are going to be gone. I don’t know. Like they’ve been that aggressive where they might just be like you know what we screwed up with Sherwood and we’re just going to cut bait and eat the money and like maybe Atlanta will take him or someone else will take him. Whatever. You know the secondary it’s going to be Stevens and Brownley and Aaria. Like those are all new faces. There’s going to be a new safety next to Malachi Moore. Clemens will be gone. Knock on wood. Baron’s barely probably going to make the roster if at all. So, everyone around JJ, Will, Briggs, and Phillips is going to be different. I don’t think like Tefale is going to be back or anything. Offensive line, you’re probably going to maybe have maybe one new starter, but if not, it’s going to be the same five. Like maybe Simpson goes, you keep AVT and he swaps in. Maybe a new number two tight end. Rucker’s been pretty good this year. Maybe they just bring him back. Like, I don’t know. And then I I’m curious to see what they think about running back. Maybe they want to try it again with Allen in the mix or maybe they want to go a different route because they feel good with Isaiah Davis and Bree as the top two. There’s going to be a lot of change uh as as there should be and that’s okay. And just to put a bow on the remaining Rogers chatter, he’s been quite bad this year in totality outside of the Jets game. He’s now hurt because he’s old, which is again I I’m not saying Jets are perfect. They made perfect decisions. I still believe it never made sense to bring him back this year. And I think when you look at the total body of work Never. He was never playing here. Like I don’t know why. Wasn’t What would they be? What would they be right now? Four and six, three and seven. He’d be miserable demanding to be traded at the deadline. Like what? I don’t It just didn’t time up. Didn’t make sense. People know that in the interview process for GM and head coach, the question was asked, “What’s your plan at quarterback?” Right. Probably the first question asked. It’s the most important question I I’ve asked people that interviewed for the job. Yeah. They all said like quarterback was obviously a huge thing for the GM and the head coach. You had to have a plan laid out what you’re going to do. I don’t think he was ever like Rogers was never playing here again and the Jets were never paying him $68 million in 2026. You know how mad people would be right now? Yes. He’d be hurt. He’d be hurt. Oh my god. We have a 42y old quarterback. You didn’t take another pay cut for Woody. I don’t know about that. Come on. Especially when it I don’t think Adams wanted to be back here in any shape or form. Look, he wanted to go to the Rams. He’s late in his career. He’s thriving there. It just he’s having a great time. He’s going to win the Super Bowl. Who cares? It It just unfortunately didn’t time up. And unfortunately that leaves the Jets being two and eight and us having to pick them lose to the Ravens on another Saturday 12-pack. I do think, look, I I I have a feeling as of now I’ll be picking them to beat the Falcons. I think between the Saints and the Dolphins, they’re going to win one of those games, if not both. And that’s probably it. I I’d love to have them do the fun late season upset of the Patriots or the Bills. I can’t say I expect either to happen. And I just think the talent gap is too much. And those teams are going to need those games. The Pats for playoff seating. They’re playing for the one seed. Makes me want to throw up. Bills are going to be playing for probably the seven seed. So I mean, that’s basically where we sit right now. Kind of kind of one positive. There’s no way this is going to happen. If you want to get out of the Sherwood money next year, he counts for 11.5 on the cap. His entire salary is guaranteed. If you wanted to get out of it, you could post June one trad. You would save nine million bucks and eat two and a half million each year for the next three years. You’d save 9 million next year, 16 million in 2027, and seven in 2028. I I don’t know who’s doing that. I don’t know why a team would be taking that. Bob and Jeff. Bob and Jeff. Like there is a world in which his his money is totally ungared in 27. Does some team do you hold on to Sherwood and oversign linebacker? If you sign like, I don’t know, you bring you draft CJ Allen on day two and you sign Leo Chanel and you’re like, why are the Jets doing all this at linebacker and then it’s like Jamie and Sherwood just traded for a seventh round pick on June 2nd and we all throw a [ __ ] party. Like I hope that he gets better and he’s a playable linebacker next year. But there is a world out of that deal if you post one. Dude, if they get out of find a way to get out of all these deals just paying all these contracts and immediately trading them. It was just a curse to be a Jets captain this year. It was not a good year to be a Jets captain. Don’t be a Jets captain. Like don’t ever be a Jets captain. Although I think uh ABT number like 62. Yeah. Don’t like no one even change his last name for all of camp until he gets into the season, then give him 75 back. That’s it. Like we can’t we can’t mess around with this look anymore. Um all right. A nice long healthy Saturday 12-pack. Uh Connor and I will be on the feed later tonight. I’ll be back in my normal studio. will be off the road uh reacting to Jets Ravens and then a full week of previewing Jets Falcons November 30th. Cousins Tyrod get excited baby. 1. You guys have been doing this for many years, that said I know you'll have a plan B just in case the jets pull off a win, that's what I'd love to see and then listen to see the why from you guys. It's just more exciting than listening to the jets will lose but probably cover. I'm hoping the jets offense can have a better them usually run attack to open up the new comers in the passing game, wishful thinking no doubt, but any team can be beat on any given Sunday. I'm staying positive on the jets roller-coaster season.

  2. All yall do is debate how the jets can lose games in the wildest ways all you guys content is piling on and looking to who's in next years draft… And that started as soon as the schedule came out yall start talking about the next years draft bc you've already figured out in your heads how they lose based on jets history….Pathetic

  3. My gut tells me we are going to lose out, and end up with the 2nd or 3rd pick in the draft. It's not that I don't see how bad the opposition is. Every week, the Jets don't show us that they can't put together a quality quarter of NFL football to win a game.
If we're picking 2nd or 3rd, Simpson or Mendoza are going to be available and they may not be as meh as everyone thinks. Honestly, Mendoza is getting a bad rap. Yes, he's not an elite athlete but he throws an accurate ball, shows a lot of poise, and has great vision. And THAT is really the job of being an NFL QB.

  4. If you can find a better bridge QB than Tyrod, sign him. (Howell, Jones, Winston). Draft a QB but not with your first pick. Take the game changing athlete… (Reese, Downs, Bain ). And get a qb with pick 28 or 35 (Maiava, Mateer, Nussmeier). Keep Justin Fields one more season for $10M. Go to camp with the vet as starter and bring in who you need when you need.

  5. I’m interested to see how this offense looks with Tyrod at qb, especially against a bottom tier defense. I bought a ticket last second, hoping to see a big upset!
Also, at 4:15, that point can’t be understated. Enjoy the games for what they are, worry about draft pick in February

  6. I just tore an abdomen muscle playing hockey (Nussmeier’s injury this year I think). With the pain I’m in I’m willing to maybe give him the benefit of the doubt on this years struggles

  7. Draft Mendoza, if possible. I don’t know that he’s a savior but barring the most insane collapse in history he’s a better prospect than Zack Wilson and we do need hope. It was Zack/Aaron/Justin, c’mon. Betting on QBs in the next year is an insane idea. We have a good O-Line and the weapons look better with a legit #2 wr. Giants and Titans don’t need QB’s and it might be a “down” year for college QB’s but it ain’t the Kenny Pickett year. Attack.

  8. Comparing AD to Stephen Hill is an insult to Hill. He was a huge bust but he flashed a couple times by doing that thing called “scoring a couple touchdowns.” Very foreign to AD so far from what I’ve seen.
