Welcome back to Regular Dude Talks Bucks Basketball your filthy degenerates. It’s been a busy work week for your boy so I wasn’t able to watch many minutes of game time this week so don’t crucify me if my overreactions from the box scores don’t pass the eye test.

  1. AJ Green needs to grow a pair.

This could be a coaching/scheme issue but why in gods name does he not shoot more? He’s literally a world class shooter from behind the arc. 6.5 3 pt attempts per game is nowhere near enough. An AJ Green 3 ball has to be one of the more efficient shots our offense can generate. Why are we not utilizing that more Doc?

  1. The Cole Anthony experience is as frustrating as we were told.

The man can light it up on his good nights. I’m sure I’m not alone in wishing those were more often. Coming in I wasn’t excited about the signing and then he had that 1 game. Since that 1 game he’s given me nothing else to be excited about. Sure he hits some shots every game but he’s not exactly helping us win games (except that 1).

  1. Ryan Rollins will win MIP

The man is cool, calm, collected, cold, composed, confident, and any other adjective that starts with C. From being cut by the worst franchise in the league to being a difference maker on a competitive team. Idk what the stipulations are to win MIP but he’s gotta check plenty of boxes. Box score numbers are up across the board, big plays are being made, signature moments are being had. Narrative speaking, unless there’s a guy rostered somewhere who was homeless last year nobody has a better story. Light skinned blade deserves it and more (all-star?).

  1. Doc Rivers is lucky to be employed.

Offensively we’re alright. Not hard to do when you have GA on the roster. Defensively we’re worse than anyone expected. The guards seem to have been given too much license to go for steals and it’s pulling our best rebounders away from the hoop. Couple that with an already poor rebounding team and yeah we’re gonna give up a lot of second chance points. Not sure if Doc is instructing them to defend this way or what but my god it’s so clear it isn’t working. Maybe the experimentation with the zone will help prevent easy buckets but rebounding out of a zone is not as easy as man to man. One things clear, something needs to change defensively and the sooner the better. Not to mention the man sucks at coaches challenges, idk his record but going off vibes it feels abysmal.

Not gonna lie to ya’ll it’s been a rough week for Regular Dude irl. Add in a Giannis injury and damn life sucks rn. No matter how hard life gets remember one thing ya’ll, fuck it we ball. #bucksin6

  1. 1- AJ’s gotten some soft ass fouls from playing at the 3 that lead to his minutes being odd rotation wise, also doesn’t help when Cole anthony cant figure out how to pass efficiently when he drives in. Also just taking some wierd handoff set a pick and let it fly late in the clock too

2- I hope when KPJ comes back cole can somehow be more of a sg role where he doesnt/shouldn’t facilitate but I know he’ll still get eaten alive defensively by bigger roles

3 Rollins is killing it sometimes has that downhill mentality where he’s laser focused and kinda cole Anthony’s a shot but his slice in mid range shot is money

4- really need GTJ to get going he’s been missing lately and I know we’ll never have that playoff Trent miracle in a game but just that solid play 3pt will be huge

5- antlers up for myles fuk thr pacers talking shit about his double double woes. Check him out now

  2. Love Rollins, he definitely deserves MIP.

But let’s pump the breaks on all-star. He can fill it up, he plays good defense, but he’s still leaving a lot on the floor.

He needs to dramatically improve his decision making and playmaking, he’s ending good possessions with some silly decisions and missing open reads in the flow of the offense.

This will improve, it’s his first year in this expanded role. Heck he could be an all star next year. This is also why he won’t win MIP…. They always give it to a first time all star. So Deni or Kiddey.

  3. The most frustrating thing is how good our players are and how we’re just run into the ground by Doc. I don’t understand why we’re cursed with his leadership. Our roster is talented, we have good options on both ends, but we get the same bad rotations and plays because Doc refuses to play into our strengths.

It bums me out that people every game thread say we’re trash, we suck, our players are bad, when that stuff just isn’t true. We’re mismanaged. We could easily outclass most of the East conference and a chunk of the west if we tightened up our problems and had better leadership. I love watching this lineup play. We gotta believe in our team. I’ve been a Bucks guy for 20 years, i know we’ve had some real bad times lol

  4. AJ Green is primarily being used as a screener. It happens about once per game where they actually run action for him coming off screens. It’s either dribble hand off or him screening. It’s 100% a coaching issue. AJ isn’t a shot creator so he isn’t going to do that. Coaching has to get him looks and they are failing tremendously. They have a weapon they simply aren’t using.

Imagine other elite shooters like Kyle Korver, Duncan Robinson, JJ Redick, late career Ray Allen, etc. just being used as a screener. It’s truly incompetent coaching.

  5. 1. I don’t disagree but it’s even more so a problem with the refs and his relationship with them – AJ needs to brush up on his refs politics, start lobbying to get some calls go his way and maybe even flop a little (and if that gets anyone worked up, it’s huge part of the game nowadays)

    2. Yup

    3. I personally don’t think Rollins will win MIP but he should certainly finish top 3 if he keeps this up. I’d probably be in your corner if he was averaging 20+ ppg.

    4. Maybe Doc shouldn’t be employed but I also can’t blame him too much when the roster’s just not a contender at this stage – no 2nd star, too short, relies on the 3 ball to win and lacks a plus defending wing (or wings even). If the roster was better I’d def be scrutinizing Doc more but, setting aside the LAL game, as it stands, I’m just happy the team is more fun to watch this season overall.

  6. AJ’s game is severely limited at present without having Giannis for handoff screens as well as general gravity, and the other guys in the team don’t seem incentivized to get him the ball over their own shots. Which I get when you have a lot of guys fighting to prove they deserve playing time–but for the sake of the team they can’t afford not to get AJ at least 2 shot attempts per quarter

We have too many guys who are like 6 foot 4 or lower and of those guys only Rollins is justifying his playing time. I still believe in GTJ based off last year by right now it looks like he’s shook. I think he’d look more comfortable if Doc tightened the rostation down and his role as one of the main 6’4″ and under guys is unquestioned. Which to ME means no more Cole Anthony (unless Rollins has to take some time off).

Also I miss Taurean Prince more than I thought I would.
