UPDATED Dolphins Depth Charts During Bye Week | Miami Dolphins News
The Miami Dolphins don’t play this Sunday. They’re obviously on their by-week. And with it being the buy, I wanted to take this opportunity to take a look at the updated Dolphins depth charts after week 12. And this is going to be a little bit different if you go to the website for the Dolphins to look at their official depth chart. Why is that? Well, it’s because we have it way more updated than the website and other websites out there, which is why we’re the best. And it’s why you also need to subscribe to the channel because we will have you covered with Dolphins football every single day. This is our chat sports sub leaderboard for the month of November. We’re currently in third place behind the Cowboys report and Eagles now just beating out the Jets report and Vikings now. So, hit that sub button for daily Dolphins content, but also let’s climb this chat sports leaderboard. Uh let’s start with the quarterback position and it should come as no surprise to a QB1 but where the conversation has been is who should be quarterback too for this team. We obviously know earlier on the year Quinn Ears was the QB2 against the Cleveland Browns. But after that game it went right back to Zach Wilson being the backup for Tua and Eers being the third guy slashemergency quarterback every single game day. But a lot of fans, including myself, have speculated that if the Dolphins end up getting eliminated from playoff contention in early December or mid December with only a couple weeks left in the year, Quinn should start. And I fully agree with that line of thinking. If you are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, you should absolutely look to start Quinners because you use those last two, three weeks to evaluate what you have in the seventh round rookie and you can go into the off season knowing, okay, is Quinn good enough to be our backup to Tua for 2026? Is he good enough to potentially contend for that starting QB role? Like you need to evaluate him in live game action. And if you do get eliminated from playoffs, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be starting Quinners and benching Tua, especially with the risk of Tua getting hurt. You don’t want that with that contract. So, as soon as you’re eliminated, who knows, maybe it doesn’t happen at all, but if you are, Quinners needs to start. Looking at the running back departure, this has been pretty steady throughout the past month. Devon Aan is having an allp procure season for the Miami Dolphins. He is just a pleasure and treat to watch every single game. But Ali Gordon has a full strangle hold on that RB2 position. Jaylen Wright has been active more often, but not really getting much work. But the story in this running back room is obviously Devon Han, who I think should be an allp pro this year. Jonathan Taylor will likely be the first team all pro, but I think Han could easily be on that second team all pro. You’d have to battle out with a McAffrey and a James Cook, but no one at the running back position outside of Jonathan Taylor has been more important to their team’s offensive success this year more than Devon Achan about across a thousand yards either in the game against the Saints or in the game against the Jets in week 14. Also, as dynamic as it comes at that running back position in terms of making plays out of the back field as a receiver, Devon Han is a special special challenge. And I’m very happy that he is a member of the Miami Dolphins. Wide receiver room has seen a lot of changes this year. Jaylen Wadd is that wide receiver one for Miami. Malik Washington is the wide receiver two/slot guy. Nick Westbini has not been that really important to the receiving game this year. He has been crucial on some blocks in the run game, but if you’re just asking me, I think West Burkini has been a little bit of a disappointment this season. Maybe it’s just because I believed he was going to make a real difference as that bigbodied red zone threat at wide receiver. Also a big play guy, had crazy amount of touchdowns last season for the Tennessee Titans, but that ultimately hasn’t worked out. The backups of DGridge, Taj Washington, and Cedric Wilson Jr. Wilson Jr. has been getting a lot of playing time in that like same type of role as NWI also on special teams. We know Taj Washington Dridge are more special team specialists as well. This wide receiver room certainly needs some upgrades next season assuming Tyreek Hill is not back on the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins will take on the New Orleans Saints next Sunday coming out of the by-week at home in Miami. How do you feel about the Dolphins after the by-week? Type B for better, type S for same, or type W for worse. Let me know your thoughts on how you view this Dolphins roster. Let’s move over to the tight end position. Darren Waller still on injured reserve, which means these three are your active tight ends. Julian Hill, Greg Doulich, and Hayden Ruchcci. Now, this has been a tight end room has seen a lot of change throughout the year. Obviously, Tanner Connor used to be here, no longer with the team. Darren Waller was the tight end one and then he got hurt and was placed on IR. Like this is such an interesting group. Hayden Ruchcci has been on the Dolphins practice squad for the past couple years now or a year and a half if you will and he has been pretty solid as a blocker in both the preseason and regular season action when he’s got his number called. Julian Hill, we know what he is. But the person that is the most intriguing is Greg Doulich, the former day two pick out of UCLA. He has really flashed on the scene here over the last month with Waller on IR. I know it hasn’t been anything crazy, only eight catches for 89 yards, but he has looked good in the receiving game. And you see his size, his versatility and speed really making a difference at times over the middle of the football field. Even when Darren Waller returns, I’m going to have a hard time not wanting to play Greg Doulich. So, I do think Hayden Ruchcci might be the odd man out and potentially waved and back to the practice squad when Darren Waller is ready to return. Final piece of the offense is this offensive line which has seen no changes since week four when Cole Strange was inserted into the starting lineup. Keon Smith and Daniel Brunskll just were simply not getting the job done in that right guard position. Larry Borm has been at right tackle ever since week one for Austin Jackson. You have never had a game this year that didn’t feature Patrick Paul, Jonas Savina, and Aaron Brewer starting in that left tackle, left guard, and center roles. And the question you have to ask when you’re talking about this group is, what do you do when Austin Jackson ultimately returns? His 21-day practice window is open. You would imagine you come back and start him at right tackle, his natural position, because you need to evaluate him for the rest of the year. But Larry Borham has been playing at a very high level over the past month or so and was the number one graded offensive tackle in week 11 when Miami took on the Washington Commander. So Boram playing much better as of late. I don’t think that’s going to stop Austin Jackson from starting at right tackle, but you wonder is Borham a player that could kick inside and play right guard because Cole Strange has certainly struggled. Moving to the defense here in a second, but this episode is brought to you by Prize Picks. The football action is even better on prize picks. And with the weather changing, well, the feeling of being right never gets old. So, keep the season rolling on prize picks by getting $50 instantly in lineups when you play your first $5. So simple to play. Just pick more or less in at least two player stats. And if you get your picks right, you could cash in. Which players are going off? Which ones are overhyped? Make your picks in less than 60 seconds and turn your sports takes into real cash this season. I’ve got a threeplayer entry for week 12 with no Dolphins. more than Drake May passing yards, more than Caleb William rushing yards, and more than Rasheed Rice touchdowns. I think he gets into that end zone against the Colts. But join me and the millions of others on prize picks. Download the app and use code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That is code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right. As we move towards the defense, let’s look at this defensive line here where Zack Celler has been the starter all year long, but you’ve seen a lot of rotations in at that number two spot. You’ve seen Bonito Jones start. You’ve seen Jordan Phillips start. You’ve seen the rookie first round pick Kenneth Grant start. Well, it really has been Seer and Grant starting more often and those two have been getting the most snaps. Jordan Phillips is right there though behind Kenneth Grant. Bonito Jones is kind of rotating in as that nose tackle and fourth guy. even with Zeke Biggers getting a little bit of playing time, especially in the game against the Washington Commanders. And you have to give credit to the young guys. I’ve been super critical of Kenneth Grant in his first two months of the season because he was struggling so much. And I know it’s hard to not want to overreact. I certainly overreacted. I’m not gonna come up here and claim that he’s an elite defensive lineman now. And he’s going to be an allp pro and a pro bowler going forward, but he certainly looks like a capable starter in the league. And that is all you’ve wanted to see in terms of his growth over the last really three to four weeks. So hopefully in the final six games of the season, we continue to see him, Jordan Phillips play well on that interior and they cement themselves as a duo that can be reckoned with, a force to be reckoned with the rest of their careers. in Miami at the edge position. This one has certainly seen a lot of change this season. Obviously, no Jaylen Phillips. So, Chop Robinson is now that starting edge opposite of Bradley Chub. You signed Andre Carter off of a practice squad a couple weeks ago to fill that 53man spot that was left voided with Jaylen Phillips being traded. You still have the veteran Judon. You still have Cam Good there. You have Quinn Bell being activated to the 53man roster on game days. I think he only has one more elevation left. So, they’re going to have to either side him or well, not bring him up anymore. But obviously, we want to see more Chop Robinson. The first round pick out of Penn State in 2024. Had an incredible final two months of his season, his rookie year, but did not play a lot early. Only about 35% of the snaps in the first what, six weeks of the year. Now he’s getting more obviously with no Jaylen Phillips, but I want to continue to see Chop Robinson. He made some big-time plays in that game against the Commanders. Had a couple good plays in the run game. Had a really quick pressure on Marcus Mariota that almost forced a safety, but Mariota was able to just get it out of his hands and avoid the intentional grounding. Let’s see more Chop Robinson. I think we’re in for a good final six weeks from the secondyear man from Penn State. The linebacker room has really stayed the same all year. Jordan Colbert was placed on IR this week, so he’s no longer a reserve here. But Jordan Brooks and Tyrell Dodson have been the starters. KJ Brett and Willie Gay Jr. have been the backups. No surprises here. What is the most surprising is the lack of playing time this season for Willie Gay considering that he got so much hype in the training camp portion of the season as well as the preeason because of how good he played. But simply put, he’s been labeled as the backup to Jordan Brooks. KJ Brit the Brack up to Dodson and Brooks hasn’t missed any time and it’s not like you want him to miss time. He’s been an allp prolevel linebacker this season. Now, you never really want your linebackers to lead the league in tackles because it means well some other players aren’t doing their job, but Jordan Brooks does lead the NFL in tackles going into NFL week 12 with 125. He’s been phenomenal in all phases of the game, coming on blitzes, stopping the run, even in coverage, which is his biggest knock when he was struggling in Seattle and coming out of Texas Tech as a firstround pick. Jordan Brooks has been a sensational player for Miami ever since he stepped foot on the field last year after signing a three-year deal. But Brooks, it begs the question, should Miami extend him? Because he does only have one year left on his contract, that being next year. He’s been a mainstay and a staple in this Dolphins defense. He’s a captain. He’s a great leader. And the question is going into the off seasonason, should you extend Jordan Brooks so you’re not playing him out on a contract year in 2026? I kind of think Miami should because he’s been that good. Could also create some cap relief for you this upcoming off season. What say you? Should the Dolphins extend Jordan Brooks? I’m typing my wise, but you let me know your thoughts down in the comments section. As we move to the back end here, we got Rousul Douglas and Jack Jones as the starters with Jason Marshall Jr., Ethan Bonner, and AJ Green coming in this week. He got picked up off of the Rams practice squad. He replaced Ju Guu Brent on this 53man roster, and there shouldn’t be any really change here. Douglas and Jones, your starters. Marshall Jr. gets slotted up to that CB3 with the Brents injury. And now Bonner is that special team CB4. and AJ Grain is likely going to be inactive every single game day. But then when you look at the safety room, and this is the other aspect of the secondary, Minka has been starting every single game, but you’ve seen a lot of change in that other starting safety spot next to Minka Fitzpatrick. You saw Ashton Davis start early on the year and then he gets hurt. It goes to Melanu. He gets hurt. Then you see Dante Trader Jr., the rookie out of Maryland, start, then Davis comes back into the fold. It’s been a revolving door in that starting safety spot opposite of Mika Fitzpatrick. But the truth is with all of the injuries to the cornerback room, Ma Fitzpatrick really hasn’t played safety for you over the last six weeks. Now, he still has played a lot of safety snaps, but the majority of Minka’s snaps on defense are actually coming in the slot as that nickel corner, which has made the Dolphins defense much better, by the way, because he’s better than any other corner in terms of covering over the middle of the field against tight ends and these shifty slot receivers. But he’s also closer to the line of scrimmage to help make plays in the run game. He has really changed the way this Dolphins defense has operated and it’s exciting to see him continue to play good football this late in his career. He’s really been a godsend for the Dolphins this season. But that also has left you with inexperienced safeties. You’ve been seeing the rookie Dante Trader Jr. and Fatu Malafanu start at the back end in the safety position with Minka being that nickel and being closer to the line of scrimmage. And I got to be honest, I think Trader Jr. has displayed a lot of nice things and he certainly has a bright future with the Miami Dolphins. That’ll do it for today’s show. Enjoy the rest of your football Sunday here as the Dolphins are off. We’ll be back with more content throughout the week during Thanksgiving and we’ll be live next Sunday for Dolphin Saints week 13 action. So, subscribe and join the Dolphins Today family.
