From: Baseball Tonight with Buster Olney – Craig Stammen Interview

"Tatis is a generational player, someone that like when I was pitching, he makes play behind me. I just like in awe of the things he could do and so having that respect for him and having seen him at his best, I think allows me to, you know, hopefully push him to be at his best and not take, you know, some of the days where he's just like, you know, maybe I, I'm going to take it, take a day off today, but push him to be the best that he can be, you know, be the MVP caliber player that we all think he could be."

  1. I’m glad he sees that there is definitely inconsistent stretches with our top guys and is trying to address it

  2. He needs to learn how to deal with the pressure because all that talent isn’t helpful if he can’t perform in big situations.

It’s hard for me to not compare Tatis to the superstars on other teams because he has the talent. But the comparison falls short when you see how well players like Ohtani, Judge, Guerrero Jr, etc. perform when the team needs them. Tatis needs to show he can be that same guy. He puts up great numbers but performing under pressure in clutch situations is not his strong suit right now.

  3. Yea i feel last season he just kind of just went to dugout and pouted a lot after getting an out, that shit needs to changed

  4. This is exactly why Shildt had to go. Held no one accountable and refused to address glaring issues in the lineup until it was too late

  5. This gives me Tingler vibes. For all of Shildt’s faults, he’d never go on a podcast and criticize a player, even if it’s warranted.
