Winnipeg Jets honour 2025 Hockey Fights Cancer ambassadors
Throughout November, Jets fans have generously supported Hockey Fights Cancer, an important cause that contributes to making critical cancer treatment and care available right here at home. Today, we recognize the all too many who have been affected by cancer and thank our community for bringing care and hope to those who are fighting, including our four young hockey fights cancer ambassadors whose bravery we honor today. At just three years old, our first young hero found himself in the fight of his life as minor health concerns escalated and an emergency room visit revealed a devastating diagnosis of leukemia. He continues treatment at Cancer Care Manitoba. And important to his healing, he’s able to share moments of joy with his family in the vibrant donor-funded playroom between chemotherapy. Please welcome Josiah and his dad, Pierre. An adventurous 8-year-old, our next ambassador began experiencing pain that saw him struggle to walk and retreat from the activities he normally loved. Tests finally revealed a leukemia diagnosis, which led to intense and aggressive chemotherapy along with many scary side effects and trips to the hospital. Today, Noah’s cancer is in remission. He continues to undergo oral chemotherapy at home and slowly regaining his strength and was able to return to school. Fans, please welcome Noah and his dad, Patrick. Our third cancer hero was diagnosed with non-hodkin lymphoma earlier this year. Six cycles of chemotherapy provided several difficult symptoms and moments, but her courage never wavered. Today, she’s completed treatment. Her scans are clear, and her family is hopeful that cancer is behind them. Please welcome 5-year-old Sunny and her mom, Abby. Our final hero is a 12-year-old hockey player who had to step away from the rink when sharp, intensifying pain caused concern. A CT scan revealed a rare form of cancer called Desmoplastic small cell tumor. encouragingly his cancer is responding to chemotherapy and his pain has eased. He contri continues with bi-weekly inpatient treatment and does his best to keep up with school between sessions. Please welcome Tristan and his dad Glenn. Jets fans, your support means the world to our brave honores and other families relying on Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation and their work to fund pediatric clinical trials and research and bring care closer to home. We now invite Jared Spurgeon of the Wild and Adam Lowry of the Jets to skate forward for today’s ceremonial faceoff. Thank you Jinx fans for your support of Hockey Fights Cancer. Let’s hear it one more time for Josiah, Noah, Sunny, and Tristan. And now, please rise if you’re
