Bucks have a -7.7 FT differential. 3rd worst in the league just behind the Wizards (-7.9) who are the worst team in the league, and Boston (-9.3) who would greatly benefit from getting a high pick in this years draft (which I’m sure they will) with Tatum out. Next closest team is Phoenix at 27th (-3.0).
All while having the most dominant interior scorer in the league. I’d say it’s out in the open. NBA has zero integrity and I’m wondering if it ever did.
I personally don’t like talking about the refs at all. There are about ten things this team can fix with effort and execution before blaming the refs. Can we start by defending and rebounding better?
I’m not a huge ref conspiracy fan, pretty much go with Hanlon’s razor to explain when they’re incompetent.
That said, the FT differential u/McMagic1107 has posted is pretty insane for a team that has Giannis on it (and we should note Tatum’s out for Boston while Wizards don’t even have a top 20 player). As for players on the Bucks not getting calls, Rollins & AJ stick out the most as being consistently reffed unfairly, imo. And while that can be explained by Rollins/AJ not having “ascended” yet in their eyes, the fact I or any of us have to rationalize why the game isn’t getting called objectively is like a self-gaslighting process NBA fans do to themselves to keep from getting more upset with them (and I’ll stop there before going off on a tangent about league-sponsored gambling as well).
Also, let’s be clear that Dame got a horrible whistle soon as he came to Milwaukee. Yes, we can again rationalize by saying the league is shifting to be more physical, east is called different than west, etc. but the number of times refs would call sideline fouls when Dame was fouled on drives where he clearly started his shooting motion (often making the shots with continuation they used to call too) was extremely frustrating.

NBA officiating overall is pretty bad. Between this and what does or doesn’t constitute a travel these days, I’ve almost had enough of NBA. This doesn’t even count the gambling issues.
In this last game I noticed that the Pistons did not bitch to the refs at all. Their coach would talk to the refs, but the players were very disciplined and didn’t complain about calls.
NBA officiating sucks, but you know what, most basketball officiating in general sucks. It’s a difficult game to ref. But there are several crappy NBA refs by any metric.
Stars get preferential treatment, though Giannis doesn’t so much, but that’s mostly because of how much contact he initiates. AJ Green gets zero respect from refs. Portis draws too much attention from the refs because of his shit talking with the other team. The Bucks as whole start bitching about 15 seconds into the game and don’t stop until the clock is dribble out to the finish.
Poor officiating is part of the game, always has been. The sooner we recognize this and start focusing on what we need to be doing on the floor instead of chipping defenders, which only helps to get your leash shortened by the refs, the sooner we will get the ship righted. Starts with the coaching staff.

Thompson was shoving up against rollins every dead ball. Bobby gets a technical every single time he does that once.
The NBA is starting to feel like early 2000s MLB, just with gambling instead of steroids. You can’t, with a straight face, tell me that multimillionaire athletes will risk their jobs for gambling, but refs making 200k won’t.

I’m a huge ref fan and I defend refs across all sports pretty consistently. The Bucks (and Giannis specifically) have 100% been getting reffed differently.
Doc has literally called it out. Refs told him point blank that they ref giannis differently because he actually plays through contact. It’s complete bullshit
Just want Giannis to leave. It’d be funnier if he just retires instead and moves back to Greece. I’m a Bucks fan but this is B.S.
