Aaron Glenn Postgame Press Conference (11/23) | New York Jets
tough tough um tough loss today. And to me, I I feel bad for the players. Um and I just told him, you know, how much I love them, how much uh the effort that they gave um was outstanding. And man, to not to not get a victory when I think those guys really played the first half exactly um exactly how we wanted to when it comes to uh taking the ball. Man, that first we should have scored on that. Then we come back, stop them on defense, and then we get a we get a score. Um, we come out of the half seven to three. I mean, I thought our guys played exactly how we wanted to. We knew sec the second half they were going to have a surge and those guys did. Um, I mean, we all we we we as a coach staff, we have to help them and and also we got to make plays when there’s time to make plays. Um, I believe in these guys. I believe in this team. Um, I believe in the effort that they give us and that’s one thing that’s not going to go away. And as a coach, that’s one thing you love about the players that we have in that locker room is no matter what the situation is, those guys going to continue to play. Um, and no matter the situation, refs um, don’t make it on fourth down, they make it on fourth down, it doesn’t matter. These guys not going to blink. They’re going to continue to play. And that’s what I love so much about them. Uh, the thing is, we just got to we got to coach better. Um, we got to play better. And next week, that’s our plan, you know, to go into to next week uh with a mindset of coaches, we got to do a good job. I got to do a good job and players, we got to do a good job of of executing and um when you do that, you know, obviously good things that happen. So, any questions? Can you um can you take us through the thought process on fourth and two? Yeah. Um at that point, just thinking about the defense and how I thought the defense was playing really really well at that point. Uh the reason that they score because they got the third and 15 on that. Um and I thought our offense was doing a solid job. I thought Tyrod was doing a solid job. So uh I want to be aggressive. I want to be to go on that. Um and we didn’t make it. You know, that’s that’s just what it was. Um and I trust our guys to go make those. And that was a situation where I wanted our guys to not blink and get ready to go and we didn’t make it. Did you think you were going did you decide to go on fourth before the third down play call because it looked like the way you were sequencing things it looked like you were trying to you know what uh I always talk to Tanner and and I give him I give him a thought of man listen if we get to this such and such on fourth down man I’m going go if not man we’re going to punt it or we’re going to kick the field goal we’re going to take the point so there’s always conversations at that point of what my thought process is and um and I think that’s that’s always worked well for us. Um cuz it also have gives him the opportunity to to sequence his play calling, you know, exactly like you just said. So, um it’s one of those things, man, where it didn’t work out. You know, you look at at what they did. They went for it, I think, fourth and one from what the 20some or something like that and they made it. You know, it’s just one of those things and and we didn’t make ours. So, we got to do a better job there. It seemed like Derrick Henry’s first touchdown. It seemed like you were upset with um you know the substitution or whatever the case may be. Yeah. Just take us through that. I mean there was a number of uh of calls that you know um that I question but again the one thing that we’re not going to do is we’re not going to make excuses. I mean it happens in this league. And I just thought when they subbed, you know that you have to give us time to sub. Then our guys were running on the field and we didn’t have time to sub. And you know, it is what it is. Can you talk about the brief fumble? Yeah. Listen. I love that player. He’s a damn good player for us. I mean, he’s going to fight for every yard. And we all know once you’re fighting for every yard, we have to be able to protect the ball. Um, and they their guys did a really good job of going after and getting it. And man, we had them going um trying to get in the ball as much as we can as you guys saw from the game. Man, that was one of those times where man, they they made a good play and they took it out. Um and that was a good play by them. What did you uh we saw you consulting after that. What did you say to him? He’s my guy. He’s my guy. And you know what? happens. Um and you don’t want to happen, but it did. And the one thing I didn’t want him to do was is hold his head down cuz I I listen I know exactly how he felt in that situation. And listen, I I don’t want that player to ever get down on himself. Um we’re behind him. Every player’s behind him. And I think you saw that from the defensive players coming up and and and talking to him also cuz he’s a hell of a player for us. And um he’s going to make a lot of plays for us. I know that. So I’m behind that player 100%. What did you think of Chyro? What did he bring you today? I thought he played well. Um, I mean, obviously I don’t know what the what the passing yards are. I know it was over 200 something yards. Um, but we got to be able to mix, you know, the run game and the pass game together to get exactly what we want. Um, but I just think from the naked eye watching, I thought he did a really good job. I mean, he was getting us in and out of the huddle. Um, getting some plays that we need to get to. Uh, he found some open receivers. I thought I thought the two receives, two new guys that we uh, we brought in, Mie and AD, I thought those guys did a hell of a job. also. Um, but as we practice, man, it just gives us more time for us to gel with Mason and Rucker, all those guys, Bree, Isaiah, all those guys to uh to come together and and and understand how Tyrod likes to play. Um, and that continuity would will serve us well as long as we continue to play together like that. You guys have done such a good job reducing the number of penalties. Y some killer ones on third down today. Is there a different mentality as defensive back on third down where you know maybe refer to that? Yeah, I just think the refs are looking at at our guys just in general. Um before every game, you know, they come and talk to both head coaches and it just seems like man they’re looking at some of those calls and I think, you know, for the most part sometimes those calls are questionable calls in my opinion. Um but they make them. They make them. The one on on um Isaiah I like man IO that was tough. The one on um AZ was tough. But you know what the ref made the call and listen we got to be able to overcome that. And that’s that’s that’s one thing that I do want to speak on is us being able to overcome when things like that happen. And that’s us growing as a team and being a mentally tough team and being able to do that. And I look forward to our go forward and being able to to be able to get over hump and be able to get past those things. Um because once we’re able to continue to get our offense going, our defense going, and once we get that mental toughness, we’ll be a tough team to beat. Mi seems like he’s found a pretty good home for you guys last week. What have you seen from him since he arrived? His potential future. Yeah, no doubt. Um I mean, it’s the reason why he’s here. um we didn’t we didn’t go and get that player just to be part of a deal, anything like that. We got that player because he we felt like he can help us and obviously he’s been doing that. Um man, he’s stepped right in and and been vocal as a leader for us like fairly quickly. Um and it’s been good. It’s not like he’s trying to come in and take over, you know, it’s just who he is. and for Tyrod to be to find him and him for being make the play from the play he made last last week uh against the Patriots against cover zero and the play he made this week I think it was cover zero also um man that player is is going to be a good player for us and we got to continue to find ways to give him the ball and I’m glad that we have him a quick quick follow is is that I know the season hasn’t gone the way that you guys imagined but are there players that are playing now that could earn roles for you guys 26 2027. That’s that’s that’s always when you always evaluating your team on a go forward and um guys you feel like could be part of the plan. So um that’s something that me and Moose talk about consistently and I I think that’s one of the reasons why our guys play so freaking hard is they see what we’re building. They see what we’re about and they want to be a part of it and that makes me um excited for the players and excited for what we’re trying to build. And it’s it’s not where we want to, you know. I I I I’m I’m going to sit here and say that we don’t want to be two and nine, you know, but I do understand this. There are some things that we’re doing, some underlying things that we’re doing, some foundational things that we’re doing that I am excited about. And we just got to make sure now the record catches up with those things that we’re

It’s all Justin fault
audio is somehow worse than the team
Tough loss today but im sure coach Glenn will rally the troops and have the guys ready to play and win next game. Just got a few loose ends to tie up.
This guy is a joke
They throw the game on purpose
New media team cant do shit right
This was a talent loss. Giid to see the offensive improvements ✈️
Its your OC. He's not it no matter who your QB is..
Fire this clown now.
If Jets want establish a running game, Definitely Fields need be at QB, Fields has kind of Lamar Jackson ability when it comes to run game, You have to spy him in every position which forces you play zone pretty much
Horrendous play calling in that game.
Coaches lost this one going for it on 4th and 2. Play calling from OC has been terrible all season.
Metchie does look like a good pick up though.
You score 10 points, fumble in the red zoneand you expect to win? You are right, they played like they do. Believe in this team? Half the roster will be gone next year and neither should you. There's the plan: "Play better." Pathetic. He sucks.
Situational football believe in your defense
I'm glad I look at games on my phone for free I would not pay for this ugly shit always excuses
Nobody promise tomorrow
Huh?!🤔 Is this the same old Jets? Yep! Could , would , should … all the loser franchise words. Clown show from top to bottom. NFL force the sale of this team.
Enough!¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tyrod gave a NFL average performance today. What you would expect from a NFL seasoned QB. AS for a Jet QB this year he was very good and solid. But we only have 10 points. Not enough to win. Do another week then bring on Brady Cook and see what a rookie can do. Average, better, worse but in the end of the season you'll know what he can bring to the Jets next year. Tyrod is not made for a full season. Fields will not be on the team next year. We deserve to get some answers to many questions. Lets anaswer questions about Cook.
Just lose the rest of the season and go for that Indiana QB.
If Breece doesn't fumble we likely punch it in and make the score 17-20, which wouldve changed the whole script of the game. Proud of this team for going toe to toe with a top AFC contender. We don't have a QB. But we cleaned up a lot and there's a lot to be optimistic about.
It’s you coach and the defense yall garbage I don’t need to see anymore you are not the guy
They can't blame Justin on this loss.
Clueless
There is so much to like in this game. I mean scoring 10 points in an NFL . What could you hate about that?
The very fact that Justin Fields is standing on the sidelines is causing all this losing.
I think we should get the top QB in the draft like we did with Sam Darnold and Zach Wilson, and see how that guy works out.
I mean, we even tried a Hall of Fame quarterback and even that didn’t work.
