What Is Miami Dolphins Mike McDaniel’s Future With The Team?!
So, the Miami Dolphins did what not a lot of thought they would. Now, what’s going to happen to Mike McDaniel? [Music] What is up, Finn fans? I have so much to talk about. Literally before yesterday’s news, I was thinking to myself, I was like, I want to talk about the mid-season review of the season season. Uh, I’m gonna talk about who could be traded and then we have the trade deadline on Tuesday. I’m like, outside of that, what am I really going to talk about anymore? Blah, blah, blah. And I was like, whoa boy, Chris Greer gets fired and I have so many things to talk about, so much content to bring to you. So, if you haven’t yet, hit that subscribe button, hit the like button. Um, but yeah, we’re going to talk about Mike McDaniel. We’re going to talk about a little bit about Champ Kali. I kept calling him I keep calling him Champ Kelly. Kelly Champ Kelly. Kelly, Doug, you know how to say the name Kelly. Uh, we’re going to talk about Champ Kelly, who he is, all that jazz. Uh, obviously we know what happened on the Rich Eisen with Tom Pelisero. We’re going to listen to that. Uh, we’re also going to listen to what uh or I’m going to read to you what Marcel Lu Jacques said. We’re also going to read to you what Barry Jackson said about Mike McDaniel. And then I’m going to talk about something else that kind of incorporates this. So, this might be a big chunker for you. I don’t know what that means, but I got a lot I want to talk about and I have a lot of videos I got planned for you, but real quick, shout out to Sleeper. Go check them out. I’m in such a better mood now. Use the pro code DDW. at 100% up to $100. But if you’re like, “Hey, listen here, chief. I just want to try it out. You get $20 free entry. No deposit needed.” So, who with a flip is Champ Kelly? 20 years ago, Champ Kelly was working as a software engineer on IMD. I am IBM Doug. Come on. Forging new characters of his life after four seasons playing indoor professional football. He’s now the intern general manager for an NFL team for the second time in three years. Kelly was once given uh whose name is Anthony was named the Dolphins interimm GM Friday. Uh his appoint his appointment comes two years to the day after he was the name the internal interimm general manager of the Raiders following their dismissal of Dave Ziggler. The Raiders pro uh promotion came just after the trade deadline. a little bit different this time because the trade deadline is happening. Uh the team reportedly has fielded calls for receiver Jaylen Wadd who have been made uh who has who hasn’t been made available of this week. Ed rusher Jaylen Phillips, Bradley Chub, Matthew Judah, and quarterback Rul Douglas who is now dealing with a toe injury. Fantastic. If Kelly, who turns 46 on Thanksgiving, impresses Ross in the weeks ahead, he might receive consideration for the full-time job. No. No offense to you, Champ Kelly. I want someone new. I don’t want anyone who has any residue of anything that Chris Grier has done. Kelly, hired by the Dolphins as a senior personnel executive last month, has munch March has some admirers in the league and received consideration for multiple GM jobs. He interviewed for the Jets GM job that went to Joe Douglas, the Broncos GM job that went to George Payeyton uh Patton in 2021 and the Jacksonville Jaguars GM job that went to James Gladstone this past February. After the Raiders entered the 2023 season with a five-4 record, Antonio Pier says the head coach and Kelly the interimm GM owners Mark Davis considered Kelly for the perom permanent job, but instead opted to hire former Chargers GM Tlesco in January of 2024. So, who exactly is the man who’s leading the Dolphins front office? Um, former all academic SEC receiver out of Kentucky. Um, I want more with Chicago. He grade 100 out of the prospects. He worked for IBM athletic story. You know, grew up uh in a difficult circumstances in Florida. His father and mother had a hard situation there. He was a quarterback, a good quarterback, a running back out of Grville High. Um, I’m trying to find his transition into computer IBM athletic. He sent a package including his anal anal various players and analysts for various players to all 32 general managers at least two year uh twice a year for four years. Kelly has uh just become an NFL agent when the Broncos offer him a scouting job. Interesting. Um I want to know who he has scouted that has helped set teams. That’s what I’m scanning through. Nothing really. So, from what I’m hearing, he h he he has good graces around the league. Teams like him. He has interviewed for head for GM jobs, never got them. They went in an opposite direction. He now has another interimm, uh, general manager position. So, uh, let’s see what the man can do come Tuesday, uh, if he makes trades and all that other stuff. Um, now, is the trades going to happen on Tuesday? Will they happen on Monday? A lot’s going to be interesting. I don’t think they happen in the next two days because teams will be playing on Sunday. So, I think I’ll give you my um trade deadline preview uh on Sunday. Um so, I got a lot to talk about, but let’s listen now. Shift focus to Mike McDaniel and the focus of this video and his future with the team. So, this is what Tom Pelisero says. Wouldn’t Chris Greer then change his tune about, “Yeah, we’re not trading anybody.” If ownership said, “You lose your job unless you take a different approach to the trade deadline or was this best to your knowledge ownership saying full vote of no confidence? Uh, we just don’t want you to be the one to make these trades. We’re we’re done now.” Like, which which one was it, do you think, Tom? Well, Steven Ross has a great deal of affection for Chris Greer, who’s been in the organization for like a quarter century, framed by the club as a mutual parting of ways. They had a conversation. And listen, you know, Chris Greer, I don’t So, I I’m recording this Friday night. Me and Mike sat down for a Dolphins talk and he made a very valid point. Um, he wasn’t fired. Mike Chris Greer was not fired. It was a mutual parting of ways. And what that might mean is, you know, hey, they paid him and they also, and again, this is speculation. I’m not saying this happened or didn’t happen. Might have signed an NDA. So, it’s a mutual parting of ways. It’s not a firing. Don’t know that it would be entirely fair to Chris to put him in a position, much like you remember Reggie McKenzie was in his final year with the Raiders where John Gruden had effectively taken over all things in football operations. He essentially made Reggie McKenzie trade away all of his best draft picks, including Khalil Mack, and then fired him uh that December. This allows Chris to walk away from it at this point to allow people who might be around. And listen, Champ just got there. You know, he was hired this year as a as a senior personnel executive. Um I saw him briefly in in training camp. You know, he may not be a part of the long-term vision either, but at least it allows there to be sort of a reset here. It certainly is going to generate more phone calls um as this thing rolls forward. And the next question then becomes, is Mike McDaniel going to be a part of the club uh into 2026? And here is what I would say on that front ridge. Mike is another guy that Steven Ross believes in. He extended his contract in the prior off season in 2024. Um he has shown that he can be an effective NFL coach. He has been two years ago into the playoffs. He has won games. He came into this season with a winning record. Obviously, this season has not gone his way. Neither did last season. But take into account the broader picture of where we are right now with the Dolphins. They are locked in with Tuatunga Aloa for over $50 million fully guaranteed. Not necessarily. And I will talk about that in 2026. And I brought this up on this show a month or so ago when questions were first really arising about Mike McDaniel’s status. If you were to fire Mike McDaniel, which again, is it possible that happens? Sure. We got to see how, you know, the next couple of games go. They’re in Spain in a couple of weeks and then obviously they’ve got a buy and then a half dozen games after that. Let’s see how the rest of the season finishes. But I would just say Tua at over $50 million fully guaranteed might not be an extremely attractive option to head coaching candidates who are coming in especially given his medical history and the up down up and down state of his play through the course of 2025 here. There is certainly a scenario and again we will see exactly how this goes but there is certainly a scenario in my mind where you take a vision to what’s going on with the bigger football operation here. Bring in a person or multiple people to try to get things right. Keep Mike McDaniel for one more run with Tua who is a quarterback who might got the job in part because he was the one coaching candidate back in he was the only coaching candidate 22 said I can win with this guy. give them one more shot with a lot of different moves in terms of personnel with a new GM or maybe a head of football operations calling the shots here and then you make the decisions at the end of 2026. By and large, I’m not a fan of jagged transitions. I’m a believer that if you get people who are on the same timeline and reboot the whole thing at once, that has advantages. But in a case like this where you’re tied for that much money to a quarterback that the coach has shown he can get the most out of at least he has over the first few years that Mike and two award were together. Don’t discount the possibility here of Mike McDaniel still getting another crack at this in 2026. Well that’s so and then uh Rich Eisen essentially says you know if that’s the case then what GM is going to want to come uh in that situation and that’s the problem. So, let me let’s let’s break that down a little bit. I do want to read something for you for you guys and girls from Barry Jackson. So, Barry Jackson kind of talked about Dolphins certainly planning to keep McDaniel because it was reported that uh they will keep him till the end of the year is what was reported. Um and this is what this article says. While Dolphins part of ways with general uh Chris Greer, owner Steve Ross is planning to keep coach Mike McDaniel through the end of this season, barring a dramatic change of heart, a league source confirmed on Friday. Stick with me. Uh McDaniel’s 3030 regular season record as a Dolphin head coach. His first time being a head coach could be let go at the end of the season, but that’s not all certain. He will be given an opportunity to make the case to keep him beyond 2025. uh decision that will be based uh partly by the perform uh the team’s performance during the final eight games of the season. Ross still believes McDaniel but is evaluating everything the source said. So again, we’re hearing a lot of things, right? A lot of rumors, a lot of swirling things that, you know, oh, Mike McDaniel’s going to be here till the end of the year. Mike McDaniel’s going to be here till the end of the year. Literally Ross still believes in Mike McDaniel but is evaluating everything the source says. So again that same source who says you know they’re giving him till the end of the year. If come uh the uh Steelers game and you still are a two- win team and you just lost to the Saints and the Jets, I wouldn’t be shocked if he gets fired. Now again on Twitter I said don’t be surprised if he doesn’t make it till January. I said what I said because I said the same thing about Chris Greer. I kept telling you guys I don’t be surprised if Chris Greer gets fired. Don’t be surprised if Chris Greer gets fired. I kept getting people saying no he’s not going to get fired. He’s not going to get fired. It’s all the legality things. It’s this. It’s that blah blah blah. He’s not going to get fired. And look where we’re at today. So again I am not predicting nor guaranteeing he will get fired before January. But do not be surprised if come the Monday night game against the Steelers, we have a new head coach or an interim head coach, mostly an interim head coach coaching the team on that point because again you have the Monday night game which means you get that extra day instead of being seven days you get eight days. So don’t be surprised if that is something that happens. Yes, Stephen Ross does like Mike McDaniel. Steven Ross had uh you know a love for Chris Greer. Chris Greer is now gone. So, you know, Mike McDaniel came in saying this whole Tua situation and that is something else that I would like to talk about. Um, what is this one? Yeah, Mike McDaniel, you know, allowing to be finished. I I will say this, um, that not that this not necessarily guarantees that Mike McDaniel will be here at the end of the year, right? Then Tom Pelisero mentioned something else. Now mentioned 2026 and mentioned Tua’s contract and I have talked about Tua’s contract at nauseium for you guys. I have talked about his um you know the ins, the outs, the trades, the cuts, all that stuff. So we’re going to look into his contract real quick because I do want to talk about it one last time. So the cap hit is 56 uh.4 4 million. Now, if you try to just flat out cut to a tongue of Aloa, you are dealing with a $99.2 million dead cap and you are losing uh $42.8 million in cap space. Like, it’s a lot. It’s a big chunk. And if you try to do a post June 1st, it’s still 99 million. It’s just spread out from 2026 to 2027 and you’re losing 11 million. you see the trades. If they decide to trade him, you save 11 million. And if you do a postjune 1 trade, you save 43 million. I will say this as well, don’t be surprised if um all of a sudden you Tua comes out and he says he demands a trade, right? But we’ll move on from that. You can still trade Tula. Now, I’ve gotten push back for saying this. Um, I get push back for saying a lot of things and I would say a good 70% of the things I say tend to come true. I would even push it up to 80. Um, it’s all there. Like when I said Tanah Hill will get traded. No, no one will ever want to trade for Tanahan Hill. We traded for Tan Hill, but we had to do some things. We had to pay half his salary and we still got a fourth for him. This is what could happen with Tua Tungavilla. Now, me personally, and I’ve said this time and time again, I think it’s time to move on from Tua. Go back to 2019. I made the same video about Ryan Tanahill where I said or yeah 2019 where I said he’s not a Baya quarterback but he’s not elite. He’s a good quarterback. He’s a solid quarterback. He won’t get the Dolphins where they need to be. I said the same exact thing about Ryan Tanhill. He went to the Tennessee Titans where he had an offensive line. He had a run game. He got to the AFC Championship game. Same thing could be said for Tua Tongavville. I don’t think Tua is a bad quarterback. I still get a lot of flack for saying that. So be it. But I don’t think Tua is good enough to take this team where they need to be. Nor do I think he’s elite. Nor did I ever think Tua was elite. You cannot find me one clip of me ever saying Tua was elite. Now, I’ve said he’s elite traits. That doesn’t make you elite. Jammarcus Russell had an elite arm. Is Jamarcus Russell elite? No. So, you can have elite traits. That doesn’t make you elite. Um, so no. I think two is a good quarterback. I think he’s solid. I think he’ll win you games, but I don’t think he’ll get the Dolphins where they need to because we’re at this point in the Dolphins trajectory, they are going to be changing things. So, if you look at his contract, you see that base salary of 39 million. If a team becomes interested, right, say the Dolphins call up whoever Saints, uh, Raiders, even say Brian Flores isn’t there anymore and the Vikings and you might say, cool weather, Lions are in a dome, Vikings are in a dome. you have to play two cold weather games guaranteed in Chicago and Green Bay. They can be in September. You’re fine. Outside of that, it’s the same as any other team. Um, say one of these three teams or any team, right? Pick a team. I don’t give a crap. This is my hypothetical. See that 39 million right here in base salary? You should not handicap your new GM, right? And this coincides with Mike McDaniel’s future because what Tom Pelisero was saying is Mike got the best out of Tua. So why wouldn’t you keep him since you have to keep Tua in 2026? You don’t have to keep Tua in 2026. So you don’t have to keep Mike. You go out and get the best GM. You go out and call uh Howie, I think that’s how you say his name. The Eagles assistant GM. You call him. We would love you to be the GM. will pay you the most out of all the GMs in the NFL. What would it take for you to come here? We have the third overall pick. We have the second overall pick. What would it take for you to come here? I need control of this. I need to pick my head coach. I Whatever you need, come right f you go on and fire Mike McDaniel, right? Say that’s one of his things. I need to bring in my head coach and then da da da blah blah blah Vic Fangio, whatever, you know? And then he could sit down with Stephen Ross and be like, “I can trade Tua, but we need you to open your checkbook one last time, and we need to convert some of that base salary to a signing bonus so we can trade him, and it won’t hurt our cap, and it won’t hurt the upcoming team’s cap. It’s very easy to manipulate these contracts. Very easy to manipulate these contracts so you can make these trades. And then if this does happen, then the new team has Tua for a one-year rental because again in 2027, um, you can move on from Tua. You see it 40 mill, 37 million, 21 million, you know, all of that stuff. And I’m pretty sure it changes with a trade very, very easily. You can move on from Tua. So, I know a lot of people see the cut space and I know a lot of people see him not being worthy of that money, which I agree. Go back and you can see me saying I would not give him contract extension. I would have him play on that fifth year option. But to say that you can’t trade him because of the contract, you can manipulate the crap out of that contract. You have a billionaire for an owner who wants to win. And if you finally get the GM that you want and he says, “We can do it, but you kind of have to give him a signing bonus and you need to you personally need to eat that cap space because again, you personally gave him that contract, then he’s going to do it. So let let’s all take a step back and not think we are handcuffed to it in 2026 because things can change, right? This is all I keep saying when I talk about trading to it and people laugh at me and poo poo it and say, you know, no, we can’t. You can. You very easily can. These contracts are easily manipulated. Why do you think they didn’t exercise the option to get the 19 million this past off season? Because if they did, it would be harder to manipulate the contract. So the the whole notion that we have to keep Mike McDaniel because we have to keep Tilla, no, we don’t have to do anything very easily. And even if they didn’t want to do that, they could very easily just be like, we’re just going to pull a um Russell Wilson and just cut him, which would be dumb in my opinion because God, then you’re in cap hell. So I just want to, you know, ease a lot of people’s thought process, right? And then you have the people who say, “When I bring that up, well then what do you do next?” Right? Well, in that situation, you got your GM, right? Your GM will go out and get the head coach. Who that will be? I got a list. Say it it you go out and you get the um Eagles GM, Eagles assistant GM as your GM. You you Steven Ross just glitz and glamourred him. We got him. And then you go out and you get I’m just going to throw a name out Darren Rzzy, right? Darren, you get Darren Rzzy as the new head coach, which I think those two combinations, perfect, fantastic. Um, and we have the top three pick, right? Say we have the number one overall pick, right? And Mendoza kills it. Goes to the Senior Bowl, he kills it. Goes to the combine, he kills it. Kills it at his pro day. Everyone’s like, Mendoza, this kid, he’s got the height, he’s got this, he’s got that. He’s going to be fantastic. So, the Dolphins draft Mendoza. There also are free agent quarterbacks that can help you bridge that gap from 2026. God forbid you don’t get your quarterback. God forbid we aren’t picking top three. There are quarterbacks that can help you bridge that gap. Now, the quarterbacks I’m going to name, and I will rename them when we get down to March or um February are names that again, these aren’t guys who are going to come in and instantly change the trajectory of the team and oh blah blah blah, but they’re going to make us still competitive. You got like Marcus Mariota, 32 years old. Again, he is not a world beater, but he’s not a bad quarterback. Um, and he’s going to cost you maybe 8 million a year. Garner Mchu, Garner Mchu is going to be 30. Did you know that? He’s only going to cost you about 2 million. Um, Sam Howell, who’s going to be 26. Again, not crazy good. Not crazy. Well, not bad, but he’s not a world beater. He’ll cost you 2 million, right? There’s there’s a ton of guys out there, and these are names that are just I’m looking at the list just off the top of my dome, and they’re young. They’re still young. Like I didn’t even realize Garner Mchu was turning 30. He’s not even 30 yet right now. Um these are guys that you can come in and you can sign and they can be that bridge gap. Say we say Sers comes out, right? Say Sers comes out in the draft and the Dolphins take him at six, right? And that kid’s got physical talent out the wazoo. He needs some help here and there, but he’s got physical talent out the wazoo. You got a guy like Garner Mchu. You got a guy like Marcus Mariota. You got these guys that will help bridge the year of sellers sitting and learning and waiting. Stop throwing these quarterbacks out there instantly when if they need time to marinate. Lamar Jackson sat behind Joe Flacco. Aaron Rogers sat behind Brett Favre. Jordan Love sat behind Aaron Rogers. You see what I’m saying? You don’t need to necessarily throw them out right away. That could be the plan. I’m going to re reiterate this come the off season, but that could be the plan. As of right now, we’re taking it one day at a time. Now, we have Tuesday with the trade deadline. That’s the next big thing I’m going to talk about. I will talk about that in tomorrow’s video. Uh who could be traded and what and you know, there’s names that are getting floated out there. Jaylen Wadd’s name got thrown out there again. Um you know, Mika Fitzpatrick’s name got thrown out there. There’s a lot of names that are getting thrown out there that I will talk about in Nauseium tomorrow. Then Monday, I think I’ll do the pre uh the mid-season uh review. And then Tuesday, we got the trade deadline. So, I got a lot. But comment below. I need to know, do you think Mike McDaniel will be the head coach next year? What’s your thoughts on my hypothesis on how they can move on from Tua? What’s your thoughts on, you know, bringing in a bridge quarterback and drafting a quarterback? like what are your thoughts on what I had to say? Um, very interested. Tomorrow you want to root for the Jets to win, the Browns to win, the Titans to win. Titans don’t really matter, but you want the Jets to win, the Browns wins, and the Saints to win. Those three teams will take a quarterback. So, if you’re in, if you want Mendoza, you want one of these guys, those three guys will take a quarterback. And if you don’t want Mendoza, you want Sellers, he might still be there. You know, you’re picking six, whatever. If he comes out, there’s a chance he doesn’t come out. those three teams you want to win if you want that number one overall pick. But other than that, lot going on. I got a lot of content for you. I will see you tomorrow. But like usual, stay classy and fans up.

Mahones sat behind Alex smith !!
Imagine 49ers trade for Tua and he goes on to win a Superbowl.. just by knowing the Shanahan system and having a better coach š¤¦š¾āāļø
Champ Kelly = raiders, yeah that doesnāt instill confidence
You are a Clown!!!! Just like your Boyz TD & Reason together you guys are the 3 Stooges of the Podcast World !!! You are so Sickening calling Yourself a Real Fan Celebrating a Man being Fired because all are about is pushing your God Awful Agenda !!! Thank God Steve Ross doesn't Listen to Idiots like You & the Rest of your Podcasts Stooges!!!! Like this Pathetic Fan Base you are Delusional & Pure Garbage!!!
Hey Dougie, your bridge QB hypothesis is fine but Iād be more aggressive and go after a more efficient QB that plays more to the level of a Sam Darnard or Baker Mayfield. Mariotaās aight I guess but I donāt see Minchu or Sam Howell as the right guys to groom a rookie qb imho.
I donāt understand why everyone thinks itās all Tuas fault why this team is struggling. No QB is winning with a bottom 3 oline and a bottom 3 defense it just isnāt happening. Look at the bengals Joe burrow had nearly 5,000 yards passing and chase won the triple crown and they still didnāt make the playoffs! Obviously Tua hasnāt been playing well for some games but how can he when he has no time for the plays to develop because the oline is so bad! He only has time to get to his one read or onto his second read! Look at the ravens game how is it Tua fault there was a fumble on the dolphins 10/15 yard line, false starts, missed field goals, bad officiating bad play calls etc there are so many people to blame for this teams struggles. Tua will be the next baker mayfield if he goes to a functional franchise with an oline and a defense! I think the best course of action is to trade our top draft pick for a ton of picks and get a bunch of picks to fix the roster and start Tua next year if he plays bad then we move on we canāt take a 50 million dead cap hit anyways! Fins Up!!!
Man Tua's got to go knowing his contract"WOW" I'm thinking TUA THE MONEY BAG?
I still think you are living in La La Land. I manage a team and Ross manipulates the contracts so I only have to pay 25 million for Tua. I sign him and halfway through the second game he takes a hit and gets a concussion. Now I'm paying 25 million for a player who's not playing. There are too many factors besides the contract that makes nobody want to touch him.
McDaniel came in having to use Tua. Tua is ass. Now theyāre gonna let him take a qb.
So get ready for more shitty offenses
His future? Asking if you want fries with that š¤·
He's not changing hc till season end
McDaniel is a de*d man walking as far as his job. He really doesn't deserve any further consideration.
Draft a QB and put him behind Tua for the year. Don't waste more money. We are not one year away. Don't rush a rookie QB in.
Whoever becomes the NEW GM should have Free Reign to do whatever he wants.
It does nothing to fire McDaniel. The season is already a bust and you don't want to pull in a temp coach or new coach to have to start in the negative. Besides, the rebuild starts with the new GM and the financial mess of the team is years away from getting back to good. Thus, the new GM should let McDaniel finish out this season and start assessing what needs to happen all over. And considering that McDaniel has a final year on his contract that is already paid for, the HC position in 2026 is something that the new GM can even push off for later. The money mess is about the over-paid players.
I'm going to give that a try lol… "DON'T BE SURPRISED when the dolphins make the playoffs" š
One piece of pushback Doug, these contracts are not easily manipulated in regards to Tua. His deal is fully guaranteed for next year, so he has no incentive to agree to any terms to convert his deal. The Fins can go to him and ask and he will flatly say no, because he holds all the cards.
Nobody wants Tua,
Why not keep Tua as bridge QB? You can still turn his salary as a signing bonus to minimize the cap hit. I'd like to move on from Tua too but he's better than the QBs you named.
Doug, I think Champ Kelley has a great potential to be a top notch GM. I also think he was brought in some 6 months ago for his potential as a contingency plan should it be necessary to remove Grieir…
Great podcast Doug and insight Tuas contract is Grier and McDaniel fault. Many of us said let Tua play Fifth year out see what happens do not sign him and we saw the issue last year with the big contract instead of Fifth year option
Now make a video of Tuas future of the team or you still holding on lmao
I would go poach FO guys from the Eagles. The Assistant GMs to Howie Roseman are Jon Ferrari & Alec Halaby give them an interview. Other guys like Director of Player Personal Phil Bhaya, Director of College Scouting Ryan Meyers have them fill the same positions here just pay them more. Then get somebody like Mike McCarthy or Chris Shula as the HC. Maybe Doug Pederson for OC. See if you can land a exp coach like Jim Schwartz for DC.
We better not trade ACHANE !!
Tua sucks
Iām happy to move on from Tua and McD. I think a full reset would be amazing! But I doubt McD got theābestā out of him. Def better than Flo, but I donāt know where heād find his best
Grier provided Mcdaniel with junk and only a few good players. I'd keep around a little longer to see what he does with better talent especially at QB
No one wants tua!!! I promise you!!
Why is it such an issue for a new GM to have Tua around for another year. He would still be able to draft his guy and he could learn behind Tua and be brought along gradually. Throw the new guy into game situations that won't be like throwing him into the fire. I don't see it as a huge issue. You could even make Tua the 2nd string. Expensive for that sure, but it's been done before.. New GM/ coach could still call the shots..
Doug, it's funny when I first started watching you it was because I was frustrated with tannehill and I wondered if any other dolphins fans were fed up. Now we're in the same situation. Fins Up
Mike came in and accepted Tua. Does he get a chance to draft his own QB??
there is no franchise QB this year DDW…
McDaniel and Tua are attached at the hip. He may be here for 26 too⦠donāt be shocked.
The new GM is going to have one year of working with whatās here before he can clean state the thing.
I watched you on Dolphins Talk and Doug, you just don't get it. Picking Herbert would've given the Phins a QB for the next 10-15 years and they wouldn't need to surround him with all-stars just for him to be competent. You could build your team knowing you have a stud in Herbert rather than knowing you don't have the right guy like Tua. You're nuts saying Herbert wouldn't have done any better than Tua on this team. He would've done much better with Tyreek, Waddle, Mostert, Giseki and others regardless of the O-Line because Herbert can escape and Tua's a statue. Plus Herbert is a dual threat, Tua is not! Defenses would've had to game plan for that and play defense ALL OVER THE FIELD because Herbert can make all the throws. With Tua they only need to take away his first read and he panics like a hooker in church. Your take is ridiculous and shows the Tuaneer in you. Teams today would give up a 1st rounder for Herbert and more. Tua would fetch nothing more than a 6th rounder even assuming no cap hit. Herbert is a real top 7 QB, Tua isn't even top 20. Stop it already, you're embarrassing yourself.
I don't think Mcdaniel's will be here next year nor will Tua!!!!!!
NO MORE PROJECTS AT QB!!!! Lessons need to be learned!
DOUG YOU GOTTA BE VERY PATIENT THIS TEAM WILL JUST BE DECENT FOR THE NEXT 3 YEARS. IM GETTING SICK IN TIRED OF THIS TEAM (DILLAN
DDW, If Stevie Loss insists a new GM has to work with McDaniel and Tua, we WILL NOT get a quality GM here, and the pain will continue.
Any GM who wants to be successful is going to want his own people. I've seen enough of McDaniel to know he's not ready to be a head coach anytime soon. Yes, the Tua contract makes moving on from him difficult, but it can be done, including making Tua the QBx on the roster in 2026 (like the Browns are having to do with Watson bc of their idiot owner).
If I'm Stevie Loss and the interim GM, I'm looking to move Chubb to get that contract off the 2026/27 caps. I would tell prospective trade partners that Miami will carry Chubb's cap number this year for a higher draft pick.
Doug, don't mean to bother you again. š
But I have another question. Since Champ Kelly has been here since March, do you think Ross had him make a draft pick list to compare against Grier's actual draft picks to see if he made better picks? Kinda getting the feeling Ross was going to get rid of Grier either way. š¤
Dan Marino needs to be the new GM.
Mike McDaniel has made this team one dimensional. Quarterback alone donāt win championships; you need to build a team. Dan Marino is the best quarterback in NFL history but no team no championships.
Tuaās not the problem however coaching is. I want Tua here but a better coaching staff.
Need Louis Riddick
why would anyone trade for tua unless the dolphins are giving them good draft picks injured qb on the decline when they can get a number of veterans for a lot cheaper he is getting cut or on the roster one more year
Dougie, stop the "told ya so's" thats y I stopped watching reason..we already love ya..we know u r right..its y we listen. š¬ā¬ļø (Not reason) š
