Trevor Lawrence Recaps Overtime Win vs Cardinals | Jacksonville Jaguars
Losing the turnover battle four to nothing is not ideal, but you guys were obviously able to overcome that. How did you kind of get past some of the mistakes and get it done? Yeah, obviously, yeah, definitely not ideal. Um, and probably not a recipe to win, you know, every week, but I think just speaks to this team and the resilience and just finding a way to win. I mean, just play the next play. That’s something we preach all the time is trying. I mean, in this league, stuff’s going to happen. You’re going to deal with some adversity. you know, you’re going to have some bad plays and how do you just find a way to play the next play and and continue to play and see what happens? And I think we’ve learned from our team of of you know what can happen. I mean, it’s happened in Vegas. We’ve had two overtime wins. We had a tough loss in Houston where we had a lead lead and the same thing happened. So, I think we’ve been on both sides of it and you just learn as a team and you learn how to win. I think we’re we’re on our way and have a lot more work to do, but is a huge win for us. How much you or do you have to close the gap of the super highs and lows or is it just part of it? We we’re here to win games. We won the game. Never apologize for that. And uh people can watch the tape and think and and make their own judgments and I’ll watch it and do the same. You know, had some some tough plays out there. Those guys make make good plays as well. So, um I got to be smart with the ball. Obviously, we had four turnovers and they were all on me. So, I own that and I got to I got to do my job and take care of the ball and not put our defense in tough spots. Totally get that. And um but I’m never going to never going to play scared. I’m going to continue to let it rip and I think that’s why, you know, we we have a chance at the end of the day is because you keep playing. Um, so never going to apologize for that, but I will say cannot turn the ball over four times. So I own that and know I got to clean that up. But I’ll watch it and see what it was. Is there pride in that bar just still going down and after all that delivering in the first for our whole offense? You know, it’s not just me. Obviously, my job is to keep playing and regardless of some mistakes early on or some some balls that just bounce the wrong way and they’re get their guys make plays. Uh, you got to be able to overcome it and keep playing. And the guys, all the guys around me, I mean, the whole crew on offense. Obviously, defense stepped up and made huge plays all day and had our back when we put them in some tough spots. But the other 10 guys out there with me, I mean, they had my back. They made huge plays up front. We did a great job. We ran the ball well on the perimeter. Receivers made a lot of, I mean, critical plays on third down um, all day. So, it’s just, you know, it’s a team game and you can’t ever make it all about yourself whether you’re playing really well or you make some mistakes. And I think I’ve I’ve learned that throughout my career and um just keep playing. Two touchdowns. Can you walk us through what you saw Myers and then also Parker? Yeah. To Jacobe. You know, we had a we had a concept on that we really like and then they ended up bringing cover zero. So I had to just basically retreat and throw it early to a spot and then Jacobe did a great job of he had inside leverage which wasn’t great for the route he was running. He ended up beating the leverage, turning the guy around and kind of shielded him off and made a play. So, um, that’s just it was just good ball, you know, being able to beat the cover zero, then him making a great play on the ball. What Parker? Yeah, Parker’s was great. You know, we had a man beater on and he just kept went kept kept playing. You know, the guy actually undercut it and and tried to make a good play on the ball and and Parker just kept fighting to kind of get back over top and um then I just put it kind of low in a way where he go make a play and he came up with it. So, played awesome all day. Parker made some huge plays and a lot of guys on offense. I mean, guys stepped up when we needed it. Strange back. How much of a lift was that? Huge. I mean, obviously you see the big plays he made and just having him out there. Uh missed having him out there and he’s I know he’s happy to be back. So, he said that in the locker room, but it’s huge having him back and we’ll keep building on it. Obviously, it’s the first week, but you see the impact he made and just keep, you know, continuing to get better. All of us. Why are you guys winning these games? We talked so much last year. Couldn’t win them. Five of them, I think, now. Two overtime games on the road. just hasn’t happened a lot around here to win those games. Why do you think it’s happened? Um, you know, I think just the belief we have in in in our team, in the locker room, and like I said, I think we’ve grown from some of the tough losses, too, over the season. You know, we’ve had some tough losses, too. You know, you know, like you said, we’ve won a lot of the close ones, but we’ve also had some close losses. So, I think you learn from it and you learn that uh in the NFL every week it’s it’s a week toe league. You got week to week league and you got to play well and then uh what the all these games are going to be close so you just got to find a way to finish. So it doesn’t matter what happened the first three quarters of the game, you just got to find a way to to win it in the fourth and uh I think we’re learning that and we’re doing a good job of that and we just got to keep doing it. Good. Depression.

You owe me some new hair and a fresh dye job sometime soon, my friend. 😂
TL is a clown and the weak link on this team. Hope the Jags draft a QB with something between his ears instead of something on his head. Go work for Head & Shoulders BoZo.
Trev had some gorgeous plays today. Win was entirely on his shoulders. The game would never have been that close without two of the picks, but regardless, he still went out and won that game for us. Keep slinging 16.
Go Jags!
A win is win but Tlaw needs to show lots of improvement by now I mean this is year 5 when is he going to show mega improvement
jaguars fan they are a winning franchise before they want to trade tlaw bro you are a jowk franchise beforr trev
Guy is below average qb let's be honest.. same amount of tds as turnovers this season alone…
275 mil and as many TDs as interceptions+fumble lost during his entire career. No ONE ever got such pass in the league
Hats off to the Jaguars fans worldwide still rooting for the guy, it’s tough to do sometimes😅 I just want all the boys to succeed!
Go Jags!
We play like a grind it out but got it team….but this anxiety is killing me….he got to make better decisions man!!!
Ask Brett Favre about winning with mistakes. He threw 336 interceptions in his career. The most in NFL history. So, ROCK ON TREVOR!!! We ❤ you
Trevor is competing that’s all I can ask! He is starting to run when we need him to as well! He is out there giving it his all! Is he perfect no, but he is out there trying to get it done! 7-4 and still alive for the division. I’ll take it!
Lawrence is payed like a Top 5 QB, right now he’s not even a top 20 NFL QB.
Let’s be honest Tlaw is a great leader but js got a new wr and did good with him and got strange back, his oline is bad he is trying to my his but off for this team
I am convinced that trevor needs to cut his hair in order to lock tf in on the turnovers
This is the NFL a win is a win and something to be proud of. GO JAGS
Anyone that thinks we don’t need TLaw simply doesn’t know ball. He’s a winner
Trevor a lot of our fans want to see you fail because they can’t succeed themselves. But true Jags fans believe in you. You may make mistakes but you have the heart of a champion. You were drafted into what is arguably the worst franchise in the NFL and you have made it relevant again. You’re still the prince that was promised!
Just remember Sam Darnold. Baker Mayfield. The Detroit Lions QB. All written off. All now winning. It takes a team…
they wanted him too throw the ball now he doing it it’s a problem then y’all act like btj not still out still
Get this man a freaking O-line already, these far weather fans kill me always trashing Lawrence. He's not perfect but he's a damn fine QB
We literally have Brett Favre 2.0 and Jags fans are complaining
Imagine having a QB soo bad that you miss Blake bortles
Trev, you got this. Don’t listen to the haters.
My problem is with the jags coaching staff 😂 sometimes they call’s dumb plays
Ok so I wanna cover each of the Trevor turnovers because it wasn't as bad as people are saying it was.
1st one: Not on Trevor. As he is in his throwing motion he gets hit from his blindside because of bad blitz puckup. If that ball gets out ever so slightly sooner people would praise him for delivering a throw even when knew he'd get hit.
2nd one – Not on Trev. Had Meyers on a slant in the end zone and threw a good ball, but Calais put his hands up super quickly to tip it for a pick. Flukey play.
3rd one – On Trev. This is a good play by the linebacker to fool Trev but he has to be aware of the underneath linebacker, and he wasn't. Not an egregious pick but definitely a bad read.
4th one – Sorta on Trev. Budda Baker baits him by going one way then covering a lot of ground to come back to the ball. More of a great play by a Hall of Fame safety than a bad read, but Lawrence still probably doesn't need to risk throwing that. So I get the read and understand why it was thrown, but it was a bit risky and resulted in a pick bc Budda Baker is incredible.
So yeah, of these turnovers, 2 are not on him at all, 1 was not that bad and more of a great play by Budda Baker, and 1 one was definitely a bad read but not an egregious decision and a good play by the linebacker. And he also delivered a lot of huge plays in this game which are his doing, so while it wasn't a great game, he still did a lot more good than bad and I am not super worried about him.
He always says I need to cleanup those mistakes but he never does after 5 years. The defense must get tired of cleaning up his mistakes. I don't see Gladstone and Coen putting up with Trevor's mediocre performance for very long. Draft a QB in 2026….
LFG!! Exactly what him and Liam said. Sometimes the defense just makes a great play. 3 of those turnovers, you just have to credit the defense. It seems like every week a defender is making a crazy pick against Trevor though.
