I I I tweeted this and I’ll say it again here. It’s too bad it’s not, you know, the the part of the season where, you know, you you can feel like, ah, moral victories mean anything. Uh because we’re we’re well past that point. Not that they ever really count in the NFL, but we’re well past the point where you might be able to make that argument. Any more than once doesn’t help you. I promise it doesn’t get you multiple entries. And you’ll have a chance to win that uh starter jacket at the end of this show. All right. Uh moral victories don’t count unfortunately because this would have been a moral victory for the it it it would have been maybe the first moral victory of of the season for the Cincinnati Bengals. I mean from an EPA per play perspective, Joe, this is their their only game this year and I need to refresh this to make sure it finished this way, but I think it’s the only game this year since week one against the Cleveland Browns that the defense was actually a value ad to this football team. And it was it was their best game this year. Uh per play. Yeah. And I think by eyes too, right? I mean, and then there were situational play calls. Maybe that Browns game because it’s the Browns, but you know. Exactly. So given the opponent, right, given the situation where the season’s on the line, you know, we’ve been saying this for like four weeks now, but it still is. Uh and given that the we have lost faith in a lot of these players. I mean, someone like Gino Stone coming off one of his worst performances in his NFL career to start off hot. I mean, they were flying to the ball. Everyone on the defensive side. Stone had a great game. I thought overall, uh, from third down calls at the end of the game that sending a blitz and getting a free rusher in front of Drake May’s face to goal line stands twice because they had to redo it after the Dax Hill penalty. Uh, it was a good defensive game. You know, you wish one more play could have been made at some point, especially because the pick six was given right back on the offensive side. I I look at this and say, yeah, on one hand, we need these defensive players to progress because a lot of them will be on this roster next year. We’ve talked about this before. It’s still a necessity to see this defense play well. Uh but on the offensive side with them falling so far down the last few weeks, and we said this may be coming, it’s such a tough game to swallow because you had it there and you know how close you were to Burrow coming back, right? T Higgins goes down. You don’t have Jamar Chase because of a oneame suspension. like you get to that moment and the offense is failing and you just say what an opportunity or what a missed chance to beat one of the best teams in the league and really propel yourself to with with Burrow coming back to really feel good about hey maybe they actually can imagine if they won this game the defense played well and now we’re going in the Thursday night Thanksgiving with Joe Burrow. I mean that would be such a fun thing to talk about but we’re not there. We’re not there because the offense couldn’t get it done. I mean we could talk about plays that the offense could have made. We could talk about plays the defense could have made and we will. I I have a big problem with Zack Taylor in this game, Joe. Oh, me too. I have a huge problem with some of the kick decisions in this game. I think that given the the margin in this game, that’s my biggest issue is the the kick decisions from this team on middle of the field situations on fourth and one or fourth and fourth. There was two straight kicks on fourth and fourth from the 37 when they’re trailing. There’s a fourth and one right around midfield where they take the delay of game, end up kicking from their own 40. Could have gone for it from the 45. I think you have to go for those. I think the the robot thinks you have to go for those. The the early field goal in this game that Evan McFerson hits from 53 54, that was another situation where the robot thinks the Bengals should have gone for it. I’m more okay with that kick decision because of the way Evan McFersonson’s been kicking this year when he’s not kicking with a non-kable which is one of his kicks being well short. Besides that, he’s been pretty good this year. He has and and he was good today in a winless day. It was a really good day for kickers. Great conditions for kicking apparently. No real issues with that one. But then there’s four other punts or so that I really take issue with with those decisions and I think that is a big reason that in a game with a tight margin where the Bengals had a chance they come up short. Yeah, I’m with you on all those. I tweeted about them during the time because you know early in the game I’m always more forgiving for those. Uh but as long as you can recognize later in the game that hey the the pressure is starting to mount your possessions are starting to dwindle. You need to convert here. And at that point the Patriots figured out their offense to the point of at least the Ben don’t break situation was being employed for the Bengals defense. They’re letting them drive down the field. They were quickly four or five plays getting back to where you punted from. Uh that’s when you see that you can’t punt anymore. Like you you got to go for these. You got to have faith. Now, I wonder though, uh, given each of those, Blackco didn’t look right today again. And I wonder if he’s just not feeling like he he’s got a good quarterback back there. Uh, does he not have the weapons? I mean, Higgins was locked up. And you just you kind of I’m watching the offense all day and I’m like, it’s Chase Brown or nothing. I thought the offensive line was good. I thought Chase Brown was good. Maybe they should have leaned on that harder. I had more problems earlier in the game with some of the the first to second down back-to-back calls. It seemed like, okay, we have a pass on first down. T I think caught like a comeback for three yards and they immediately go for a run for two. Well, you’re just amaz I mean you’re accepting a third and five situation by doing that and I talk about the second and 10 runs a lot but anything second and seven plus and you’re running the ball I’ve got to question it because you’re accepting a third down proposition and they weren’t good on third downs today. That’s another main factor in this game. They’re three of 13 on third downs. Every third down they got to it was like ah here comes a punt. Like that was my feeling and and yeah, go ahead. That’s my point is they shouldn’t have felt good going to third downs because of the quarterback, because of the receivers, because you didn’t have all your weapons there to to really feel good on third down. And they kept accepting third downs. Far too many third downs in this game. You shouldn’t get to that many. And here we are at the whole game. I’m like, that just feels like they’re playing with fire for them to even get this close at the end of it. I was really upset with Zach in this game just because I thought the first two drives the play calling was inspired. I thought they had a lot of misdirection. We saw different packages. We saw different uh concepts. They didn’t execute right. We had Flaco taking a bad sack. We had Flacco, I think, missing an open receiver on that second drive. It might have been on the first drive. And I was like, okay, the you know, they’re in their bag right now. Defense is getting stops. looks like they took this week seriously and got prepared or Joe Burrow, you know, amped up the team and got them going, whatever you want to say, but they came out hot on both sides and they ended up with three points out of it. And I just was like, damn, that’s going to come back and bite them because I couldn’t feel that. I felt they couldn’t execute at a high enough level. And I wonder if that’s what influenced Zach’s decisions, but they’re they’re inexcusable. You if he gets fired, it’s because of these decisions. Flaco was bad in this game until the last couple of drives at which point you’re you’re in desperation mode and you credit him for executing there. But the sack that he took cost the Bengals points and it’s an inexcusable sack. You cannot take that sack in that situation. The pick six he threw is awful. You just can’t be oblivious to that linebacker sitting on the flat. Those are really bad plays and that’s something that I think probably makes Zach feel like his hands are tied a little bit. But your running game is working. I I think actually maybe a very underrated injury in this game. Taj Brooks left with a concussion that I think he sustained on a kickoff return. Yeah. And the two running back package they had was effective. Taj Brooks was not very effective as a runner and that was what they started with and they but they had stuff built off it and that’s what was you’re talking about the multiple packages they got to. That was one of the things that was really cool that the Bengals did early in this game. They’re going to 22 personnel. They’re going to 21 personnel, which is two two tight ends, two running backs or two running backs and and one or I guess it would be, you know, 21 would be two running backs, one tight end. And they they’re motioning Chase Brown on these plays. I think they got to a play action play to Noah Fant. They got to a jet sweep to Chase Brown on one of these. And they were finding ways to keep the Patriots off balance by showing unscouted looks. And there’s not a whole lot that you can do if you’re Zack Taylor this long into your tenure coaching this team, this much continuity that you have with very similar players and give Mike Frabel, who’s seen you and and has seen you many times when he was coaching the Tennessee Titans, this is a familiar opponent for what Zack Taylor wants to do on offense to show him an unscouted look. And the Bengals managed to do that early in this game. The Taj Brooks injury means they can’t go to that. They don’t have the belief in the practice squad call up this week who ends up opening a kick. Gary Brightwell to to do those things. He probably didn’t get reps that Taj Brooks got to do those things. Uh Taj Brooks, I think, had one really good blitz pickup in in his snaps before he had to leave the game. So, I do think that injury was not great for him to sustain. You’re right. Flaco didn’t look great. He dislocated a finger I think Zach said in in the postgame presser which was a run of three plays. Flaco, Andreos, T. Higgins like it and he was better after dislocated the figure. I guess Joe Flacco just needs to sustain an injury and then come back from it and then he turns it on. But yeah, it was a disappointing day for Flaco where there there are a couple of what ifs in this game that are like what if you what if this then the Bengals win. What if Jamar Chase had kept his composure a little bit better last week and played in this game? Because they were down to Charlie Jones and and Mitch Tinsley for a few plays until Yoshi got back in on the next drive. That was it. Because Germaine Burton’s not active either. And as we know, this offense becomes very different to defend when you’re like, okay, how do we balance the threats of T. Higgins and Mike versus T. Higgins and Jamar Chase. And then you have those ancillary guys. And credit some of those guys for making plays. Shinsley, great great couple great catches. One of them looks like it’s going to be intercepted. That’s a really difficult thing to do when you expect that ball to be deflected in front of you. It just makes it through the wickets. Uh really hard to keep your your eyes on where that ball is going. And then the touchdown catch obviously just a disgusting release and we can look at that play. An absolutely gross release to absolutely toast the best corner on the New England Patriots football team. Yeah, Christian Gonzalez is good. very good and you just oh do I not have that play? Of course I have that play and and that’s just a a great individual play from a guy who isn’t expected to win in these spots. So Mitch Tinsley up top here and just watch the release. Joan, I’ll let you talk through this one. Yeah. So while this is happening at this point I said Tinsley touchdown and my son looked at me and then looked back and it’s caught and I he was like how’d you know? I was like the release was crazy. And um when they showed the replay and you know close it was even nicer and he’s done that every single time on these fade balls inside the red zone. His release package in that situation is very I’m surprised they haven’t gone to him more often than this. Uh and it’s a good throw by Flacco at this time when we had very little confidence in the offense. They had six points uh to this point. And I was als I was also wondering here we are fourth quarter under five minutes left. What is the last offensive touchdown they scored? And uh you know it was ended up being this one as it happened right as after I thought it. Great play for Mitch Tinsley there. Yeah. Unfortunately at this point you know a little bit too late. Although the defense does step up and make a play. So anyway I was playing the what if game there a little bit. So there’s three big whatifs for me in this game. And you could argue that there are more but there are three. The first one is Jamar Chase. What if Jamar Chase plays? Yeah. What what are the chances the Bengals win this game? He’s their best player. Jamar Chase plays. Second one is what if Joe Burrow plays? Yeah, that’s our other best player. The third question is what if they just go for some of those fourth downs? We’ve talked about those. Uh the the Burrow decision that the coaching staff ends up deciding they don’t want him to have to play two games in four days, five days, and the the broadcast was talking about Burrow was sore after returning to practice this week. Not sure if it was general soreness or That’s what I heard. Did you hear that as well? I did not hear toe, but it was No, not toe. I meant soreness. The soreness part. I know. I was just saying I did not hear toe specifically. It was a very generic report though that left me wondering what about you? Like are your legs just sore because you’re running around a little bit more? Like what what’s is your arm going more? Like what’s what’s the what’s sore here? Um I I don’t know what the risk of reinjury would be for Joe Burrow if he had to play two games in five days. We we can look at one thing here. What do you got? And and then we can talk about the defense because the defense did play well. Uh but I wanted to to look at this with you. I know you’ll be looking at this throughout the week and it’s not going to be entirely up to date as they’re getting it up to date for for games that are finishing here, but the New York Times uh has their playoff machine here and we’ll zoom in on this. And I found a way to make it 94% for the Ben. Oh, the Steelers lost then because I haven’t The Steelers lost. Yeah, that was a big one when I did these simulations earlier. And um so so the Bengals have to win out. That’s where it starts. And if you’re wondering like what is Joe Burrow coming back for? What the Bengals have to win out? And then there’s a couple of other results that really really help the Bengals if they have him because the Bengals play the Ravens twice. The Ravens twice. That that’s big. But the other thing that needs to happen is you need the Steelers to lose. That that helps a lot, right? That’s a 10% swing. The Bills beat the Steelers. That’s the one I found is like, okay, yeah, maybe the Bills will beat the Steelers. It’s the Steelers lose to the Bears today. They’re going to get Aaron Rogers back, it sounds like. The other one is you need the Ravens to lose somewhere. Apparently, you want the Ravens to to beat the Steelers at this point, but that is with I found a Ravens lost somewhere. The Patriots. So, the Patriots, who beat the Bengals today, I think have to travel to I think this is a home team on the right. Is that correct? Y. So, they have to travel to Baltimore. If the Patriots win that one and the Bengals win out, then you’re at 96% to make the playoffs. Now, we are talking about an extreme extreme long shot here. The chances of these things happening minuscule because the Bengals have to play the Ravens twice. They have to play the Bills. They have to win games that you would expect them to win with Joe Burrow starting at quarterback. But I love the comments though. Stop. The season’s over. It is over when you’re eliminated. The season’s been over for a long the season ended in week two, guys, but it is not over until you’re eliminated and then it turns into a different season. It’s a evaluation season. I mean, the other thing here is this is what Joe Burrow is thinking when he’s returning to play. Right. If you’re wondering why the mind Yeah. If you want to get in the mind of like why the Bengals want Joe Burrow to come back, if Joe Burrow wants to come back, it’s there’s still a shot at this thing. Is it a slim chance? Yeah. If they had beaten the Jets, if they had managed to win this game, if they had beaten the bear, like pick a game, they had done their job in one of those games. It’s different today because the division leaders are f six and five. Yeah. But the Bengals are three. Yeah. It’s a really long shot. But that’s why Joe Burrow is going to come back. Yeah. And uh for the people still commenting it’s over. It is over. It’s been over. But it is also not over until it’s over. So then you know what I’m saying. Uh I want one last point on the offense. uh you’re you got one drive at the end to score a touchdown. need given if you before the season if I say this is the scenario for most games the offense has the ball they need a touchdown to score I would take that most of the time but you don’t have how much of your cap 40% of your cap on that last drive without Joe Burrow Jamar Chase Tiggins uh it’s a tough one and you know when you take those guys out of that situation I’m going to say I don’t want that situation I I I I don’t want Joe Flacco throwing to Mitch Tinsley and Osivos and and Mikei. I mean, it’s it’s okay, but it’s just it’s not enough. Flaco was not good today. I want to make that point because I I did see some comments on the side here. I try to read your comments, so that’s why sometimes I start stuttering when I’m talking because you guys distract me. But someone said, “Don’t blame Joe Flacco.” Joe was terrible. Flaco was really really bad. Like, you win games most of the time with average quarterback play in this game, I think, and he was not even average. So, it’s hard to say don’t blame Flaco. Like to me, Flaco is as big of a culprit in this game as any person, even Zack Taylor. Uh because it’s hard to win without the quarterback playing at a certain level, and he wasn’t able to play that way. I was busy calculating how much of the Bengals cap was missing today after Higgins left. If you include Trey Hendrickson in the mix, it’s 46% between That’s right. Higgins, Hendrickson, Burrow, Chase, and uh 60 uh $66 million in cap hit for this year on IR or suspended for this game. Yeah, you don’t want to be in that situation, but you are in that situation. That’s why we talked about the punting decisions, right? Yeah. Bengals had a chance to beat a team that’s 10 and two now, right? 10 and two. They are 11 and two. They haven’t had a buy. 10 and two. Week 12. They haven’t had a buy yet. I said though before this game that the Patriots hadn’t played anybody and so I wasn’t sure if I bought their defense and I I don’t think their defense was great in this game but I don’t know you just you just didn’t get enough from your offense. Joe Flacco wasn’t playing well early. It’s really frustrating when the run game is working. Yeah. And when your defense is working because Gino Stone came out and had probably the best game in his Bengals career in his Bengals career or or certainly the season like he was legitimately good early in this game. The interception was a gift, but the return was good. Got downhill quickly, got decisive, got to the sideline, got to the end zone. You credit him for the return. Credit Demetrius Knight for laying out the quarterback blocking on that return as well. That was fun. But the run stop early, the run support throughout this game. Gino Stone, according to PFF charting, had 10 tackles in this game. Seven of those solo, zero missed tackles in this game, according to PFF charting, four defensive stops, and uh was a free runner and and like that’s why it’s more frustrating though because he could do that stuff more often. Well, that they got him into good positions in this game. I wanted to look at where he was lining up. Is he in the box more? He wasn’t really in the box a ton. 16 snaps in the box in this game. Wow. G uh Jordan Battle in the box. 33 snaps in this game. But Al Golden finding the a couple of answers in this game. Generally, I I wasn’t pleased with the defense on third downs and on long to-go situations, but the couple times he dialed up those zero pressures and they were blatantly obvious zero pressures. Quarterbacks on a picket fence like you’re not dropping out of this. There’s no I really thought they were dropping out because they were so obvious. I’m like they got to be dropping out. There’s no way they’re sending all this. Al Golden ain’t that sophisticated, Joe. And everybody comes, maybe one guy drops out, but he gets free runners on both of those third down situations. One of them they get they get Gino Stone who maybe makes an adjustment on his own to flip sides and is a free runner that forces a throw quickly. Goes incomplete. Bengals get off the field the second time. Barrett Carter in the A gap. Free runner. Patriots weren’t expecting him to be a rusher on that play obviously because you’re generally blocking inside out. But you get a free runner in the A gap. nearly an interception which could have won the Bengals a game. Speaking of plays that the Bengals just needed one more of to to have a chance to win the game and and they didn’t get. But credit Al Golden for those couple of plays, but besides that, the Patriots on third downs, like the the Bengals lost this game on third down in many ways. Five of 13 for the Patriots on third down, which isn’t great, but some of those third down conversions were pretty killer. Yeah, and I I was going to say Drake May probably had one of his worst games of the year. Uh Stefan Diggs had one of his lowest production games of the year. Shout out to DJ Turner shadowing Stefan Diggs. I was really wondering how they’re going to do the corner situation. We heard that Dax was going to go to the boundary which he got torched out there. Uh he did have one pass break up that I thought was in the slot versus M. Collins. Uh they brought in Jaylen Davis who had a good game off the practice squad in the slot. He’s been an understudy from Mike Hilton for a long time. Looked a lot like him in terms of his aggressiveness and willingness to tackle and blitz. The only sack of the game. Yeah. And uh but DJ Turner was all over. He was he was in his butt all game in a good way. And I’ve had too many butt references in the show because the team was butt. All right, let me start over. Cut that one. Wait, are we live? All right, DJ Turner was all over Stefan Diggs and Diggs has had a very good bounceback year coming back from injury and been their number one. And without him, I think this the Patriots have really struggled a lot of times on offense when they can’t get the ball to Diggs. And what was the answer for them? It was picking on the linebackers over the middle of the field with these uh tight ends. And it continues to be a big thorn in the Bengals side. Uh and then it was Pop Douglas down the middle on a cover Tampa 2 for Barrett Carter who couldn’t really find the ball. Tough ask honestly for any linebacker in that situation. Great throw by Drake May. I thought they held Trayvon Henderson in check. I thought they did a good job overall. Even Miles Murphy had three pressures all in the first half. It really wasn’t much. I want to see what adjustments they made for the second half of that game because as the lineman started going down for the for the Patriots, what did they do to keep Drake May up? Because they did in the second half despite being uh down two interior off or two offensive linemen Jared Wilson and Will Campbell. I think the the step down for Will Campbell to Vidian Low, is that his name? Or Veridian Low? Is it Vidarian? It’s low. Vidian Low. That should be a big drop off. And I I think it’s just that Osai, the way that Osai wins, if he does win, it’s not in a way that is disruptive enough. Miles Murphy, when he had a couple of reps against the Patriots backup right tackle, who’s named now escapes me. Marcus Bryant, who had only seven snaps, six of those pass pro snaps when Morgan Moses, who was dealing with an illness, had to leave for a little bit. Miles Murphy was eating that guy’s lunch. Man, Miles Murphy was beating that guy. Power speed to power. Look good. We we can look at one of those because it’s it’s kind of emblematic of some steps that Miles Murphy has taken and also the touch on. Yeah. And also a step that we still need him to take or would like to see him take. I don’t know if he’s got it in him because this is an athleticism uh question, but when when he had the opportunities here, this was this was good for the Bengals. And and so my point in saying this is Jarro Wilson was not the Patriots best pass protector at left guard. Ben Brown went in there. He gave up a pressure to Chris Jenkins that helped the the Bengals get off the field in one instance. Uh yep. Former Bengal undrafted free agent getting in there at left guard for the Patriots. But Darian Low you should be able to beat up on more than the Bengals did in this game. But this is a clean clean win for Miles Murphy. Couple things here. One, people are really on Miles for this I think because it’s it’s fun to to hate on Miles Murphy for for some people. I thought he was pretty good today. Um, Drake May has been really good at especially in the pocket. We talked about this in the preview show. His in the preview show moving in in the pocket. His evasiveness in the pocket is up there with everyone. It’s Joe Burrow in the pocket to be honest. I compared it to Joe Burrow in the preview show for sure. And I I caught glimpses of Joe Burrow and Drake May’s game today for sure. Like a couple of times. I not comparing them as players overall, but like stylistically the way they move in the pocket. Anyway, watch Miles Murphy here on the left side of the defense. you’re going to get a clean win and then you just got to turn the corner a little bit better here because I’ll pause it when he wins. He’s one and if you turn this thing flat flatten flatten to the QB. You’re talking about flattening to the quarterback at one, two, three, four, five, six yards. You could have a you could have a six yard corner turn here if you’re Miles Murphy. Anything deeper than eight, you’re maybe in trouble a little bit. And then you just are getting drifted. You’re drifting up field. You get pushed in the back a little bit at the top and now where are we behind the line of scrimmage? Here’s five, six, seven, seven to eight. Close seven, seven and a half. And by the time you’re coding, yeah, you’re you’re just too deep. So, turn that corner a little bit better. You maybe get the sack here, but you also have to credit Drake May for for stepping up there because it is a nice play from Drake May as well. No doubt. And I think we got a bust in the coverage here. Gino Stone goes down to the flat and I think that’s Dax that No, no, no. It’s a linebacker that comes across also covers the flat. So, I don’t know what the confusion was. Somebody should have carried that tight end further. Yeah, that’s Demetrius Knight who ends up in the flat uh and looks hesitant in doing so. I would imagine that Gino Stone was right here because he was so confident about it. Yeah, the way that he’s screaming down at the snap, but who who knows this? And that’s why motion at the snap, especially on this jet motion, works. It confuses, it challenges your rules on who’s got who. So, he may have thought Gino may have thought three’s getting the ball there and he’s and I’m going to scream downfield and he was wrong. So, I I don’t know actually. Hope hopefully we’ll get some uh clarity. Yeah, I wonder if we will. The the other thing that we can point out here as we’re talking about Gino Stone, shout out Andrew Foxm Miller for for this video that he took uh from the stadium. You get some live all 22 here. Yeah, I was going to say he’s got the the pre shot of the of the clock, too. Yeah. Yeah. Got the pre-shot of the clock. This is professionally done by our guy Fox Miller. And this is Gino Stone jumping the gap here. This is great play from Gino Stone. great goal line defense a couple right on on the goal line. Uh this is the one that stands out to me the most. Maybe he had others that I’m not recalling. I would believe you if you said that he did. This is also a good win on the left side, but Gino Stone just jumping this jumping the gap and and making contact here. Slows this down on the other side. I think it’s Miles Murphy who gets in there. Let’s see. Let’s see. Miles Murphy is on the right side here. So, it’s not Miles. Yeah, we got um BJ Hill as the fire defensive end. And then different play. I’m going to go get the other play while while this one while we talk about this one and talk about Gino Stone here because it is there are two plays. I’m going to go find the other one, Joe. But yeah, so I thought BJ had a good day against the run as well. So that one pops up there and he had another one where he knifed in the back field. No ended up cleaning it up. Uh Hill has been slowly returning to average form, I think, for him overall. Um again, I don’t think he’s impactful enough. I would like to see Chris Jenkins ultimately replace him. We’re talking big picture, but you know, I it is nice to see him being decent again. Yeah, I think he’s kind of been more or less himself. Yeah. Yeah. Here’s the other one that This is Miles. This is also Gen Stone. This this looks like a run blitz that we get here. And uh Gen Stone first in there, but also Miles is unblocked. So, I guess it’s just a welltimed blitz. Maybe you credit the play call here. You’ve got an option run to hopefully freeze that unblocked end and he never falls for it. Pass. Yeah, I guess. So maybe Drake M should just pull this, but you do have Barrett Carter back there for the keeper. So again, nice nice play from Gino Stone down at the goal line. Oh, you know what we haven’t talked about yet that I wanted to talk about that Matt Music11 brings up in the chat is uh Germaine Burton. Yeah, I would like What if Germaine Burton had played in this game, Joe? Honestly, I would have liked to have seen it to be honest. And what if that route to Charlie Jones was to Burton? I thought Jones again, so they draw something up. They’re going to try and get one-on-one. You got one-on-one coverage, no safety over the top, and you’re getting this corner route from inside of a stacked release, right? Charlie just couldn’t run through contact and keep his speed up. Much bigger Germaine Burton, maybe he can do that. I just I get trying to get a play to Charlie because I want to see Charlie run routes, too. I think he he should have had a broken off big kick return again in this game. Uh but, you know, if Burton was out there for the death, it’s weird to go into a game with only four receivers. I don’t care if you count Mikei as a receiver because I always have, but four true receivers, you’re one injury away from not being able to run your offense the way you want to. And the Bengals have really not given enough reps all season long to wide receivers four, five, and six of course being Burton. And that bit them today. So now they’re in the game and you’re like, we don’t know if half these guys can even play. So let’s figure it out as we go. What must be going on with Jermaine Burton for him not to be active? The worst. I I I imagine it’s terrible behind the scenes. Uh a couple of updates here as we get toward wrapping up. A reminder, one that we have a postgame show coming after Thursday Night Football. I know it’s Thanksgiving. After the game, we will have you covered. We will be giving away PS5s. You want to be here for that. Again, make sure you’re following at first on Twitter. Twitter giveaways. I want a PS5 also as well, too. So much so that I said it three times. We’ll be giving that away. So, make sure you’re back with us after the game on Thursday night. The other update that I have here, T. Higgins tweeted that T seems to be all right at the moment. I had not seen this from T. Higgins. Short turnound. I hope he is all right. That was scary. I don’t think we’re gonna see T. Higgins next week. He was out apparently for a while to the point that from people who were at the stadium covering the game, trainers had to turn T onto his back, hit his head very hard. The worst kind of injury. Did you see him get in the cart, too? They had like a close view of him and he was kind of like shaking and his eyes were like squinted shut. Yeah, he was in a lot of pain. Yeah. worst kind of injury because one, it’s coming on a penalty and and you’re left wondering like what if there’s just no penalty on the play? Does the guy get up without an injury? Two, it is probably just unlucky, but whenever there’s a penalty involved, it feels worse. Three, it’s just Te’s doing literally everything he can to just make a play there. Yeah. And you just you get hurt for it because you’re putting your body on the line and and those are the ones that I really I hate to see them. Those those always feel a little bit worse to me. So hopefully T’s okay. Hopefully he gets well soon. Can’t rush him back though. Concussion Thursday night game. We’re probably going to be talking about Burton again then for Thursday because I mean down a receiver. Are we Are we Tinsley time? More Tinsley time. Are we just Are we just done with Germaine Burton at this point? Nice catch by Yoshi also. A couple nice catches today. I should say one that sideline one on the first drive. I want to say it was and then deep middle of the field uh on that last drive. Yeah, he was solid. He was. I mean, honestly, a lot of guys on this team are solid in this game. Like, Daltton Riser came in. We’ll see how the tape looks. Shout out to Daltton. Yeah, I thought he was very good as a run blocker, especially. I think he got to stick with Riser the rest of the way. Thought Orlando Brown, he he had maybe one bad game for him. He he was pretty good. Marius Mins pretty good. Pretty good. Harris has continued to get back to where he was last year. I don’t know if people have noticed because he was he was rough to start the season. the last half of the season of what we have so far of 12 games, 12 weeks. He’s been back to where he was. Yep. And then Dylan Fairchild probably the weak link overall in this game, but rookies. Yeah, he was okay. Pretty pretty solid game from a lot of guys. Just didn’t get it from the quarterback. Great game from Chase Brown. We didn’t talk about Chase Brown nearly enough here. He was the entire offense. We we mentioned it, but he’s been back also. I mean, the run game has been excellent for the Bengals this year. I know the like the numbers like compiling rushing yards, whatever. I’m never going to even even cite how many rushing yards they have in a season. It’s never going to be a thing I look at, but their efficiency, their EPA, their success rate, they have been very, very good this year as a running team. In fact, it’s the best run game they’ve had in the Zack Taylor era, and I think we saw it again today. So, shout out to Chase Brown. He’s been good. Yeah, really good the last few weeks. And the and the Patriots have one of the better run defenses in the NFL according to the broadcast. I didn’t go to verify that myself, but Chase Brown at five and a half yards per carry, 5.2 yards per carry for the team overall in this game. Go over 100 yards rushing. And when you just It’s just frustrating when you can’t get anything going in the past game off that. And I know they’re missing Jamar and T and Joe. The what if game is really going to be haunting. We’ve only had like five games like this since 2021. I mean, it’s it’s that’s why it’s so frustrating because we’re not used to seeing a passing offense that just looks like so anemic. Yeah, frustrating to watch the the passing offense today and and like you wonder how would Jake Browning have played. We we got to see one play of Jake Browning and it and he was he moved. It looked like Jake Browning though, man. It’s it’s the same thing like if you It’s hard though when you for Flaco. It was It was That’s what I was going to say. If you combine those guys, if if Joe Flacco is as fry as Jake Browning, then you know, you’re probably a little bit more functional out there. But yeah, uh a rough loss in this one, Joe. The season further over. One of my conclusions is well, Joe Burrow’s return matters even less now. And and that’s brutal because I I can’t imagine what he’s thinking as he’s watching this game on the sideline and and watching some of the things that happened, especially early in the game. But uh now he’s like, “Yeah, I can come back and run the table and we’ll have a shot at it.” But must have been brutal to be Joe Burrow on the sideline in this game. The one sideline shot we got of him was him looking pretty unhappy. It was after the pick six. I want to say also and I think he’s got to watch the last two weeks and say if I’m in there we win. And we talked about that last week after you know that game and we talked about it this week. Uh and I put a poll up actually. I want to see what the results were now that we’re at the end of the show here. If you want to get ready for the the other things to close the show off. I want to see real fast what the poll ended up being. Would the Bengals win this game if Joe Burrow was starting? 86% out of 30 almost 400 votes say yes. And I agree. I think they would have won this. You’re on mute. Of course I say that. I do wonder how much the Joe Burrow slow start factor will be a thing. I know it’s not the start of the season and maybe we’ll find out that it’s literally just the start of the season and and maybe he can’t move as well either because of the two. We should not expect him to be moving quite as well. The last thing I guess we could talk about is like they could have probably called defensive pass interference on those last couple of throws of the game on the Patriots. At least at least a Mitch Tinsley play. I I didn’t get a good enough look at the Gaseki one. It looked like it, but it also looked like Gaseki was selling it. The one looked Yeah. Yeah. The the Tinsley one looked pretty clearly playing through the back. Got there early. a bit reminiscent if less blatant to be fair because both guys are are horizontal a little bit but reminiscent of the the Dejan Anthony DPI against the Chiefs on fourth down and second down though it’s a bad throw by Flaco on Tinsley you know quick he says to him right before I’m giving you this out route at the 10 yard line you know you can see it and he just left it inside like again that we probably don’t get to third and fourth down if you hit that one and I wonder about his finger affecting that throw and I wonder about his shoulder affecting that throw because it was a wobbler. It was probably not as uh fast of a of a velocity as Flaco was hoping for. And yeah, left inside as well. This is on the offense, especially that pic 6 by Flacco!
Mitch Tinsley needs more snaps. Just another reason we should fire Zac
Definitely a choice to not let burrow try and at least play a couple series. If he felt healthy what’s the harm. Could’ve easily gotten them a touchdown and a win possibly
Zac Taylor is a 🤡🤡🤡🤡
Please guys for the love of everything holy, turn down the intro/outro music. It’s stupidly loud.
Time to apologize to Browning.
Hey guys the intro music is really loud
It’s always something
Blow it all up😊
Tinsley needs to play before Burton
Zac " I never run the ball twice in a row no matter what" Taylor once again shows that he has no situational awareness. Chase Brown is averaging over 5 yards a carry and injured backup old man Flacco without Chase and Higgins was averaging less than 5 per pass attempt. So what does he do to help out INJURED 40 year old Flacco who wasn't playing well , the back up receivers, and the defense who was amazingly holding up there end and could have benefited from the time of possession and less exposure running the ball creates? Run the ball 19 times and throw it 37. When this guy doesn't have all the stars to bail him out he can't cut it. Even worse Chase Brown probably would have bailed him out this time had he not been his runphobic self and leaned on him more but he didn't even notice or care and seize the opportunity. As bad as his kicking decisions are his refusal to run the ball when it''s working is what cost us this game. Make no mistake about it. This loss falls squarely on Zac's shoulders.
Why Punt! Does it matter?
Zac Taylor's play calling has been shit for years! Burrow and Receivers made him look better with great playmaking ability, when he has dumb 25 yard developing route on 3 and 1.
Tinsley is the only wr that got any separation. So disappointed he didn't play more today. It's beyond time for him to be wr3. I imagine he'll probably be playing a lot on Thanksgiving. No way Tee can play can't clear concussion protocol and probably wouldn't be ready even if he could. That hamstring will definitely tighten up on Yoshi tonight so he'll probably be out as well. They had Jones getting snaps at wr over Tinsley I just don't get why. Jones doesn't have a single catch this year and hasn't made any impressive plays at wr the 3 years he's been here like Tinsley already has in his limited chances this year. Oline looked good. Got a lot of movement in the run game again and were solid in pass protection. Shame Burrow was hurt most of the year. Would have loved to see what he was gonna do behind this line and run game. This is easily the best oline play they've had since he's been in the NFL. Geno Stone still sucks. His best play wasn't even the pick 6 or his shooting gaps unblocked on the goal line it was when he noticed the Pats call out protection and he was able to diagnose and sneak to the other side and blitz unaccounted for. That pick 6 was a gift the tight end was wide open on that play too like the entire 2nd 3rd and 4th quarter. May makes a good throw that's a 1st down 20 yard gain. Please don't let a few plays overshadow what he's been doing the entire year Bengals it's time to move on from him. Flacco taking that sack is unacceptable he had plenty of time to throw it away. The pick 6 for the 2nd week in a row was terrible it felt like it was in slow motion. I must have said no 5 times before he threw it anyway. They were able to make the qb feel their presence but not finish. Murphy has to find ways to finish. He should have had that sack on the 1st td with the blown coverage. They should have been able to get to em today when they were going against back ups. Dax Hill right back to the inconsistency he was terrible today.
Being mathematically able to get both the number 1 overall pick and make the playoffs in week 12 is kind of hilarious
The Bengals lead the league in pass attempts, and they are dead last in rush attempts. It doesn’t take looking deeper than the basic stats to know how one-dimensional and predictable this poorly coached 3-8 team is. It certainly doesn’t take 41 minutes and 18 seconds lol 😂.
Burton should’ve played today. If he sucked you cut him it’s pretty easy.
He finally ran the ball effectively and helped the defense. Why not run Brown on 4th and 1. Zac is a terrible play caller. Absolutely no situational awareness. Again a wasted defensive effort. Zac/ Tobin are bumbling idiots. The press should roast his a** at the presser.
Flacco playing hurt with his throwing shoulder. Who’s going to play? Jake Browning? Joe won’t use it as an excuse.
Please fire Zac, I wish him well but he is too often the reason we lose. The window is small, we need to have a coach that at least doesn't lose us games, hopefully someone that can win us a games on coaching along.
Clearly Duke needs to go too but don't let it just be one
The Bengals go be 9 8
