This guy is a fucking bum. How many times did he get beat by a TE on a slant. Then he gives that big pass to Douglas. And is continually getting his ass whooped over and over. Only reason he gets so many tackles is because the guy he’s covering is getting the ball every other play. If he wasn’t so shit, then the game woulda been 20-17 Bengals!

  1. I try not to give too much credence to PFF scores, and I don’t look at them too often. But I just looked at Carter’s and I’ve never seen someone with a 33 before, that’s wildly bad.

Like, got lost and someone ended up on an NFL field bad.

  2. I don’t think Knight or Carter would make any other roster in the league.

Not as a starter, but at all. I don’t even think they’re special teams caliber on a real team. They’re both that bad. And there’s no chance they improve, knight is already fucking 26 years old.

  3. I don’t blame the kid. I blame the multibillion dollar organization and the guys making millions every year – for being shit at their job – who can’t evaluate talent.

These fucks squandered a Super Bowl window for this franchise and it’s unforgivable. The constant whiffs on defensive draft picks is the root cause of the Bengals being on the verge of a 3 year playoff drought with no end in sight.

  4. The FO had a 2nd round grade on him btw. Meanwhile the rest of the league likely had him as a late day 3 prospect.

  5. Two rookies at LB is just asking for it. These guys can’t be starting next year and now it’s just another thing they need to address. Tobin/Taylor masterclass in somehow continuously creating more problems than you’re solving.

Teams are absolutely taking advantage of them both.

  6. I said this in the game thread and I may be wrong, but I remember reading about how Carter and Knight were Golden’s guys in the draft which is why we reached on both of them. If that’s the truth, that alone should be a fireable offense. They’re both so bad. Knight looks a little better but you should never spend a 2nd round pick on a 25 year old LB who probably would’ve been there in the 4th. Carter just doesn’t look like an NFL linebacker in the slightest.

  7. In all honest it’s the front offices fault for having two rookies on the field at linebacker. That’s just asking for trouble.

The dumbasses in the front office actually though that Al Golden could do the unimaginable have a 2nd rounder and a 4th round linebacker not look terrible.

Carter should have started on special teams, and in a year or two got starting snaps.

Knight might look better with a solid vet helping him, not another rookie.

  8. When you draft a player, one of the things you should do is place him in a position to succeed. On defense, they have been terrible at doing that. These two linebackers are the latest example of this. They should’ve been worked in slowly, maybe getting a chance to start later on in the season. But because the organization didn’t want to sign a starting level linebacker, and maybe because Golden convinced them that he could make these guys starters quickly, they needlessly reached on these guys so early. And now, everyone thinks these guys are trash. I’m not saying that these guys will ever, or could ever be starting level linebackers. But the problem isn’t them. The problem is the people who put them in that position. Whatever happens for the rest of this season, everyone involved in drafting these two guys needs to take responsibility for that. Everyone involved in not picking up a starting level linebacker instead of Oren Burks, needs to take responsibility for that.
Until they address those types of decisions within this organization, this team will not be able to be a true year after year contender. They make way too many mistakes in drafting and free agency.

  9. I will give Carter a pass on the long completion. Not sure why you have a LB covering a WR thirty yards downfield.

  10. Genuine question because I worked and didn’t get to see the game which I’m sure I’ll see on re-watch, but where was he bad? All I’m seeing on the game thread is how the defense really showed up giving us chances to win and then the top post below that is trashing a guy who had 16 stops today?

  11. Yeah he’s bad but what kind of front office is dumb enough to roll out two rookie LBs and expect an improvement from last season?

  12. Lol this subreddit. Saying to cut rookies 11 games into their NFL career because they aren’t playing like veterans is peak idiocy.

  13. He’s bad. Playing him this many snaps was a mistake. Wilson wasn’t the same guy he had been, still better than this trash can though.

  14. All right, can we all agree Barrett Carter’s not that good but Demetrius Knight Junior is a one in a lifetime will linebacker

  15. Out of 81 linebackers, Carter and Knight are the 81st and 80th ranked according to pff. Gross.

  16. The two rookie LBs are both so bad that I don’t distinguish between the two of them. Just consider them the same bad player wearing two different jerseys.

  17. This guy never should have been a starter in year one. Linebackers in general take a long time to develop and he was an overdrafted fourth rounder. I really don’t know what they were thinking.

Everything from their free agency, draft and in season decisions was just horrible when it came to linebackers.

  18. Fuck this year, our favorite website should be tankathon. Let the young guys play and see what we got. We cant make a run even if we’re not mathematically eliminated yet, we got no defense.

This isnt the: “they gotta play us” bengals, this is the: “they get to play us” bengals.

And if i remember correctly, we suck at defending tight ends.

  19. But his “Rookie Roadmap” segments with Fox19’s Raegan Holgate are soooooooo entertaining. Well worth the trade-off. All Logan did was a commercial for Mattress Firm that aired every commercial break. Boooooooor-iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing! 🥱
