In the Celtics’ win over the Clippers, Anfernee Simons played just 12 minutes. Josh Minott 11, and Sam Hauser 7. One week later, the trio combined for 55 points on 74% shooting against the Magic. How they’re handling inconsistent minutes:

  1. It will probably be one of those seasons where they tinker with things for months and then lock in a rotation mid season.  Hopefully by then Tatum will be back and we will have made a move or two to help the playoff push.

  2. Unfortunately, we also let Jett Howard, Jase Richardson, and Noah Penda drop 61pts on us.

Without Queta, I think we are really going to struggle defensively.

Part of the reason why lineups have been so inconsistent is that we don’t have a ton of players that are good on both sides of the ball. Because of that, we have to just go with what’s working or go with what might work, instead of having something that consistently works.

  3. I do not care at all about their inconsistent minutes “ruining” their shot. They can put up 1000 3’s a week in the gym and work on their place in the offense during practice… good shooters will eventually recover their shot given enough consistency.

What I do care about is they can pass defensively during important minutes. If you’re a turnstile then you won’t get any rotation minutes in the playoffs. So you earn your minutes on defense and when that’s consistent, you get consistent playing time and then your shot will come.
