Pirates are looking at jorge polanco and ryan o'hearn. I like both but as supplementary pieces, not guys that should be the main bats you acquire this offseason. I think the team should target pete alonso if they can't get schwarber because they need a legit thumper in this lineup.

  1. Pete alonso is someone they should move towards if schwarber signs with the Phillies. Alonso has been healthy, consistent, brings huge power to the lineup, and is an RBI machine. This team needs a power bat badly and alonso has top of the scale thump.

  2. Honestly polanco and ohearn are good realistic targets that I’d be pretty happy with. Feels a lot more likely than schwarber to me.

  3. One of the problems Nutting had created is that even if the Pirates outbid everyone, the player and his agent are going to want to sign somewhere else. And maybe for less money.

I love my Buccos, but Nutting has ruined a storied franchise.

    Signed,

    Captain Obvious

  4. Okamoto will adjust to the MLB velocity increase as long as he signs with anyone else but the Pirates.

  5. I think Seattle is going to extend Polanco. It turns out that the Naylor contract is pretty back loaded, so Seattle has more money to work with than initially thought right now. If the Ms make him a reasonable offer, and I think they will, he’ll probably stay.

Edit: apparently Seattle may be considering trading for Ketel Marte, so maybe I’m way off base here.

  6. I dont give a fuck about who they are interested in anymore. Until I see so and so signed, Im not falling for anything.
