Drake Maye on Defeating the Bengals: “Good to Get a Win.” | Patriots Press Conference

Well, how much of a a grind was that? And physically, you’re okay the entire game that look like kind of maybe shaking your hand early after you hit that helmet on one of your throws. What was it like for you today and to grind through it as a team? Yeah, that’s what that’s what this this league’s about. You know, battling adversity. Um, I gave him one early in the game, just battling back that next drive and I’m just trying to be a next play mentality. That’s what coach is preaching all the time. All the time is, you know, battling back from good plays, battling back from bad plays. And um, you know, proud of our defense for stepping up. They stepped up big time. And like I said, it’s next men up. We had a lot of guys, you know, come in and play and make plays and and help us out. So, just proud of them and um you know, just good to get a win and and good to get that 10th win. How much emotional was it to see both Jared and Will, you know, go down and get carded off and what they were going through, man. Um shoot, I love those guys, man. It uh it’s uh you know, they’re going to be all right. I think, you know, that’s that’s the big thing about those guys. They’re going to work hard and and they’re going to be back and um they’ve done such a good job for us this year, man. Um I love those guys. You know, uh you know, Will and Jared, they’ve been you know, meant a lot meant a lot to me. um you got to know them in different ways and um yeah it hurts. It’s disappointing, man. Um but uh that’s that’s this game. That’s you know that’s life and uh you know they’ll bounce back and um you know help us down the road. Drake football such an emotional game and then you know you get the guys going down Mike talked about being with Jalon the FaceTime in the locker room. How would you sort of describe your emotions right now? Yeah. Um shoot you feel empty. you know, you’re playing so hard for everybody around you. Um, you know, thoughts to Galani and, um, you know, what he’s going through, you know, love Galani and, um, I think, like I said, there’s so many different things, you know, different things coming at you and, um, that’s that’s, uh, that’s what’s cool about this game, you know, such a team sport. You know, so many guys rally around to to play for each other, play for one another, um, you know, laugh and create good times and and realize how blessed we are and um, you know, thank the good Lord for just giving a chance to, you know, play this game and, um, go out there and battle. seemed like they sent some pressure from the secondary active today. Was that at all surprising to see them put you a little bit like that? Yeah. No, I mean I think you know they had uh they had some good some good stuff that um I didn’t do the right thing and and didn’t get us in the right look. So um I got to be better. Got to be better at the line of scrimmage. You got to be better. Um you know, credit to them for for catching us some and and like I said, I think um I got to do my part and help us play cleaner football and and punching it down there in the red zone and um you know, I take that to heart and I’m going to be better. Did you feel like the ball was coming out differently on some of the misses early in the game? Um, not that I could think of. You know, sometimes um just just not trusting and just got to let it go. You know, that’s when I’m that’s when I’m throwing it best and um you know, on time and feeling the best. So, um I know I know I wasn’t very accurate early on and um you know, you know, found a groove and um yeah, just just head back to you know, the basics. What enabled you to find Hunter so often today and how big was he for you? through time to time. Yeah, I think, you know, the biggest thing is it’s a new guy every week. You know, it could be, you know, since you whatever week with Hunter, um, you know, stepping up and he’s a great player in this league. You know, him and Hoop, they give us a a one-two punch at the tight end position or run the football, be in the passing game. Um, they do a great job and and Hunter, um, he’s a he’s Mr. Consistent. He’s every week. When you aren’t as accurate as you usually are, does it feel strange to you? Do you wonder like why what’s going on here? No, I’ll just get back to the little things, the fundamentals, and um got to get another throw and just get a live rep to get back on it and and you you feel fine. So, um it’s yeah, it’s just it’s it’s one of the things that happens and I think um I don’t really think it’s, you know, a big deal. I think just got to get back in the groove. Final question. You had referred to the offensive line, I think, as the heartbeat of the team recently just with Jared and Will going out. just sort of what do you know about that group that makes you feel like Yeah, I think uh they have a lot of fun in that room. Um they they care for each other. Um they um shoot, they’re always, you know, you know, laughing and hanging out. They hang outside of outside of football. Um they go do things. They um they’re just a tight-knit group and I’m um you know, proud to, you know, be the one behind the center with those guys. and um just credit to them for you know showing up every week and um coming in here you had shoot I think Ben Brown came in VO came in Marcus Bryant came in for a little bit so those guys are just you know ready to go and um you know I’m just you know proud to have those guys blocking for me. Thank you guys.

  1. WHO IS PLAYING FOR LEFT TACKEL! WILL CAMPBELL IS GONE.. WE CANNOT SURVIVE IN PLAYOFFS IF WE HAVE LOTS OF INJURY. WE NEED TO SIGN TO SIGN LEFT TACKLE! NEED TO STRONG OUR O-LINE IN PLAYOFFS!

  2. Drake is my MVP no question but its of a grave importance that he be more decisive with the ball in the redzone or near it. That pick six was just awful but the onething I respect about this young man is he doesnt dwell on a bad play rather it be a fumbler or INT. He shakes it off and get right back to it. That type of mental toughness is why I know he gonna excel in the playoffs.

  3. That was a tough one, Will Campbell going down is a major loss. But a win is a win, and we need every one we can get. Hope Jared gets better quick too, such valuable players, get well soon. Let's Go Pats!

  4. People forget this team was projected for 8.5 wins. Ceiling was projected 10 games. Pats have hit both with 5 games left to play. This team is playing with house money now and a chance to do something in the playoffs. Future is bright and once this team gets some depth they will likely be in the mix every year.

  5. I remember when a online guy got hurt and matt light started been good ever since we the new England patriots will be done we just another matt light we have next man attitude we should not doubt will Campbell is a beast but someone has got to step up and shine it's a great team and go Pats

  6. 4th game in a row they look mediocre . Rams would kill us if we played that garbage ball . Clean it up . Seems the coaching staff losing a bit of confidence in Maye red zone offense . They need that bye too refocus . Sloppy ball period .

  7. Me and all my friends.lost money Patriots -7. I dont know how the Vegas mafia does it, how did they only give Pats 7 points no J. Chase no Burrows.
